I'm tired of crying for people who NEVER learn from anything! So they somehow deserve getting it until they finally get it. Whatever, i mean by that! grin

Anyway, i no fit cry for anybody because they will always say "Thats impossicant" when you tell them to curtail their risks of building heaven and earth in Lagos and other places when they have next to nothing in their villages or anywhere in their state!

By the way, I am someone that left the madness of Lagos and channeled my resources to buy a fantastic house in Asaba. I have since relocated my business to Asaba too! My quality of life has drastically increased since I started living in Asaba and left the mad life of living like a rat in Lagos and staying many hours in Lagos traffic everyday! Its just sad that many Igbos who would actually do better outside Lagos think that Lagos is "abroad" for them. Unfortunately Lagos isn't even as developed as the least developed South African city! Not to mention Europe or Asia. But people will continue to die to live there. Maka why huh

Our people ignore the MAIN PROBLEM and keep chasing shadows. If Nigeria were restructured in a way that allows each region to pursue its own development without first getting approval from the FG, even individuals would build these key facilities if the state government didn't.

But the elephant in the room is that NOBODY is allowed to build any key infrastructure in any region UNLESS the FG first approves it. Of course, we know that the FG will never approve any infrastructure in the southeast region that will make the region truly progress. That is the main problem that should be addressed before talking about why these infrastructures were not in the budget of SE state governments after the FG refused to build them in SE as they did for other regions.

Those in Moore Street and Iweka road Onitsha should be ready for Gov Soludo's Monday hammer, dualization of Moore Street -Iweka road and reconstruction of Iweka round-about with water fountain will commence soon.

Anambra is lucky to have Soludo because he is solving the Anambra roads problem from its foundation. His roads already show that he isn't just interested in bragging that he built X kilometers of "shoddy" roads as many Governors do! He wants to make sure what he built is really standard. Which is exactly what Anambra desperately needs. High-quality, well-built roads with pedestrian walkways!

Soludo reminds me of Nyesome Wike's first term as Rivers State governor. He embarked on the expansion and dualization of several major roads in Port Harcourt which resulted in a lot of demolitions. It was a task that only the toughest of men could undertake. However today, Port Harcourt is now one of the best cities in Nigeria as a result of all that determination to do the right thing no matter how many years the wrong thing had been left to fester.

The reason the previous Anambra governors refused to do urban renewal in any of Anambra's cities was that none of them had the courage to demolish numerous illegal structures built on drainage channels or built too close to the major roads that the expansion of such major roads due to the massive population explosion in Anambra cities became an impossible task. But Soludo has the determination to right historical wrongs by demolishing any structure that prevents the area from achieving its desired potential. I used to doubt Soludo's capacity to deliver, but after a careful assessment of his strategies, one can see that he wants to be remembered as the governor who finally made Anambra a decent and liveable place. May God help him to find adequate funds and God-fearing men to help him achieve his great dream for Anambra.

Governor Soludo is really trying, but there is one thing that I would love him to do and I will be very happy as well as other Anambrarians. Pls those that are close to him should tell home to please complete the landscaping of the ICC building. Since Obiano left office nothing has been done on that project, it's on the main building that is completed, nothing much has been done on the landscaping of the entire complex. I know if Obiano is still in power he would have landscaped the whole place to world class standard.

The best way to manage and maintain the Awka ICC is to build a functional 4 or 5-star hotel beside it and lease out both the ICC and the hotel to a reputable hotel management company. Then the ICC serves as the main banquet hall of the hotel even though it's a stand-alone structure called the Awka ICC. The point is that it would generate revenue used to maintain it and also pay royalties to the state government from the hotel leasing company. Similar to the arrangement of the state government with Golden Tulip Resort.

The idea of piecemeal or knee-jerk occasional maintenance would always fail. For instance, if you plant grass today, it dies without properly being watered. If it does not die and grows, it soon becomes a bush if it's not frequently cut and attended to. Then the governor or commissioner would need to find casual laborers to go there and tidy things up.

The best thing done at Agulu Hotel was leasing it out to Golden Tulip to manage. Else, it would not be in its current pristine state if had been managed by government civil servants and commissioners.

Wow!!! Big congratulations to Ebonyi State for this massive achievement! Thank you Governor Dave Umahi for your tenacity and great perseverance to see this project completed in record time!

Now the work of developing new tourist attractions such as Ndibe Beach, nice hotels, fantastic restaurants, and world-class clubs to drive the entertainment industry to boost tourism and the state's economy must be pursued vigorously. That is a way of making this airport one of the busiest in the country. Congratulations once more to Ebonyians on this achievement. Ebonyi to the world!

Even me as Soludo's supporter have found it difficult to show his handiwork until very recently when he flagged off roads before the last elections. Obiano won 2 terms purely because he performed and showed he had concrete plans about how to develop Anambra even before he became governor.

Soludo came in being clueless except for dancing and writing useless grammar. As if good governance is a marker of who writes unwarranted essays.

I think he is gradually learning from the last elections that only performance in delivery of good governance and not dissertation essays will save him. I'm glad to notice his recent efforts on roads. Let's hope it was not all a gimmick to flag off many roads on the eve of elections. I just hope he does not think the people are not smart just because they hail him as a prof.

What are the poverty alleviation projects done by Obiano?

Without even mentioning any of Obiano physical infrastructure as bridges, malls, hotels, airports, roads, intl. conference center and flyovers, let's just look at his Human Development efforts and poverty reduction strategies and achievements. That is where he beat Dave Umahi hands down. Imagine that Obiano somehow even managed to get Anambra to become one of the biggest rice producers in Nigeria! He managed to find ways of stimulating economic growth in almost forgotten communities by building some type of community project in every community and using their own people as the construction folks. So that the money reflates the economy of the community. Umahi only did community projects in his own Uburu and nowhere else in the vast rural communities of Ebonyi state.

By direct comparison to Obiano's efforts in poverty reduction, Umahi has done nothing to directly create jobs for the Ebonyi youths to create a skills acquisition center to empower Ebonyi youths with a trade skill for them to be self-employed. Umahi has not made any effort whatsoever to improve Ebonyi's agricultural advantage or to foster the industrialization of Ebonyi state by providing well-equipped industrial estates to incentivize the setting up of agro-processing factories in his state. All of which would have greatly reduced the crushing poverty rate in his state. Again, I appreciate that Umahi did a lot of flyover bridges, but I have mixed feelings every time I see Ebonyi's poverty rate being worse than the poverty rate in even far northern states! It is an abomination to see such a poverty rate in Igboland and the governor only concentrates on building flyovers to compete with Rivers state!

Nwokem, without diminishing Umahi's excellent projects,, Obiano performed way better than Umahi.

Apart from Obiano's physical infrastructural projects, he heavily invested in human resources improvement and poverty alleviation projects to reduce poverty in Anambra.

Conversely Umahi used money which could have been wisely invested in education, agriculture and Healthcare to build too many flyovers at irrelevant junctions. This is not to say his countless multicolored flyovers are a bad thing. But if you consider that he ruled the state with the worst poverty in Southern Nigeria and one of the least human development index in Nigeria, his multicolored flyovers where there were no traffic becomes a tragic misuse of public wealth. While we have praised Umahi for doing many concrete roads to ease accessibility to rural parts of Ebonyi state. I believe the money he spent on too many flyovers where there were no traffic gridlock as a tragic waste of precious state resources.

Unike Wike that also built multiple flyovers because he ruled a state with serious traffic problems and relatively more wealthy citizens. Umahi had no such problems. Yet he acted like he had some inferiority complex that flyovers were a symbol of development and to prove Ebonyi was developed he had to have more flyovers. Thus he went on a flyover building spree while other areas of human development suffered.. Umahi's only useful projects are the concrete roads, Abakaliki mall and airport. Even at that it is questionable if those projects will be viable due to the crushing poverty rate in his state. That is why I praise Umahi and bash him sometimes for doing nothing on the poverty alleviation front.Overall I rate Umahi as a great transformative governor, but he could easily have been the greatest Igbo governor since 1999 and done better on all fronts not just on physical infrastructure, and thus be rated as a well rounded governor.

I cannot believe what I have just seen is actually in Ebonyi state! Chai, God bless that man o!

Many African countries and even some Eastern European countries don't even have an international airport terminal building that is this massive!

The effort now is to develop the tourism potential of Ebonyi state to attract many visitors and businesses to the state and keep this airport among the busiest in West Africa.

With May 29th being only about two months away,, this airport is under a high risk of becoming an abandoned project unless the runway is marked and made verifiably operational one month!

Umahi needs to concentrate all the effort in getting the runway ready for test flight now.

Airport terminals in London and globally are gradually improved endlessly as the airport operates on a completed runway. Therefore unless the runway is completed immediately and test flight conducted successfully on it to prove that the airport is operational, this airport will be a tragic abandoned project in the next regime after May 29th.

Nice..umahi is really trying. I also wish he engage more in economic and industrial projects too. Ebonyi is the food basket of the nation and I'm yet to see him commission any mega economic agricultural projects in the state. Even the lime Stone and granite that Ebonyi state is blessed for is yet to be utilized for industrial purposes. Any update on ibeto/nkalaagu cement factory?

Hopefully, Umahi is already planning on how to keep the airport busy by also attracting tourists and business people to Abakaliki.

Owerri flights are always full and overbooked because Nigerians fly to Owerri to have f fun-filled weekend with good food and clubbing.

If Umahi can incentivize Cubana Chief Priest to establish a small to moderate-sized Cubana night club in the Abakaliki Centenary city, it will gradually rival Owerri in the number of tourists and other Nigerians visiting the city to relax, eat good food and spend money.

If you don't BAN or restrict street trading you remain primitive. No high end retail with beautifully designed shops. No comfortable restaurants. No you will perennially cater to wheelbarrows and shacks and primitive shops and that is what you will get with Onitsha and Nnewi being a prime example.

The big problem with Anambra today is that it has attracted all the jobless people and low-end individuals from all over the southeast and indeed Nigeria to come and hustle by setting up illegal shacks all over the state. The sad aspect is that these people also refuse to pay taxes to help the state grow its IGR. Meanwhile, the high-end individuals continue to leave the state either due to every Monday sit at home or the increasing practicality of living in Asaba while working in the state.

Generally, we know there are state capital cities created in 1967, 1976, 1987, 1991, and 1996! The earlier cities created as state capitals are generally more developed than the younger state capitals. Soludo's attention to Anambra cities is commendable. But, it does not take away the fact that subsequent regimes totally abandoned Anambra cities to the dogs. Even the youngest state capital cities in Nigeria such as Yenagoa, Gombe, Abakaliki etc that were created on October 1, 1996, have since surpassed some that were created 5 years earlier on August 21, 1991! Hopefully, Soludo will continue his urban renewal to get the Anambra capital city and other key cities to what they should be.

I don't want to post any of the videos here to illustrate the point, so as not to be misunderstood. However, if you watch all the clips posted on that Youtube Channel (Travel and See), you will observe the clear DIFFERENCE between the chaotic and overcrowded issues we need Soludo to address in Anambra cities.

Yes, these issues are hard to raise due to trolls that will immediately attack you for suggesting any improvement to the quality of life and ambiance of Anambra cities. But, the truth is that only ABA fares worse than the Anambra cities in his city-to-city videos. Yet, Aba did have a huge improvement in most parts of the Asa road - Port Harcourt road shown in the Aba video. You could also see that they were building gutters to address the perennial flooding issues on Aba roads.

We MUST continue to advocate for the enforcement of BAN on street trading, encroachment of traders unto the roads, and parking of disused broken-down vehicles along Anambra city roads, thus blocking off half of the already narrow roads. That archaic behavior of traders MUST stop!

There is absolutely every need for FG to release that guy.
I AM NOT A FAN OF MAZI NNAMDI KANU.But the laws of the country must be obeyed by everyone. Including those who see themselves as the overlords in government.

I remember a few years back, we were here pleading with the army and Police to stop shooting youths going for their peaceful protests called "Evangelism". Then we warned that shooting them when they were peacefully protesting will drive them underground to arm themselves with weapons and hit back at the army and police. Of course, it seemed like a fairytale that they would arm themselves and hit back, until the phenomenon of "Unknown gunmen" became an everyday word in Nigeria.

Without any change in the polity, and with continued incarceration of MNK, they will force the hoodlums to raise the stakes for all of us by forcing the start of targeted ethnic attacks in the various regions. So that retaliatory attacks in various regions would make the country even more unstable and untenable. I don't know why it is sooooo difficult for the rulers of Nigeria to see these dangers and address them before it is too late to avoid.

Most of those Igbo haters reason through the anus. It's actually a total waste of time to engage them because they are too daft and blinded by hate to reason what is often so obvious to everyone.

I have wondered why they have not seen the handwriting on the wall that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has been drawing their attention to.
Nigerians are just like Russians that believe they can forcibly hold Ukraine within one country called "Russia" so that Ukrainians will be second-class citizen-slaves to them forever.

What Obasanjo has tried to tell them without being a doomsday's prophet is that such a structure in human history is untenable and unsustainable. Not to mention that it ultimately leads to bloodshed until those who promote it come to the realization that everyone can either live as equal citizens or that the so-called kingdom is destined to collapse ultimately.

Today, the targets are the "Policemen" and "Soldiers" deployed to the region to kill people in the east. Soon the anger will spill over and the target would become ordinary people from the "perceived enemy tribe" being targeted. So that they will raise the stakes and force retaliatory attacks from other regions of Nigeria which would hasten the collapse of the kingdom. It's sad that most of them cannot read between Obasanjo's words and his effort to help save Nigeria.

So nice! Obiano was undoubtedly the BEST Anambra governor!

Anything that makes sense at all from these flyovers, to 5 star hotels, to malls, airport,modern conference centers, proper dual carriage roads were all built by him! He had a modern mindset that was different from the usual village mindset of his predecessors. Thus he truly elevated the state to a good pedestal.

This is really nice and encouraging to see!
Finally, we have a Governor that takes the aesthetic appeal of the major cities seriously. Hopefully, this idea of beautifying the environment will be sustained and extended to include planting flowers and trees along the roads in all the urban centers in the state.

The fact that Soludo even sees the need to beautify the roads and the environment in the state makes him stand out among other previous Anambra Governors that did not see the need to beautify anywhere in the state except the Government House.

Cj, does these pictures actually represent entire cities you mentioned. There's no city in Nigeria that doesn't have its own fair share of bad roads. Delta is a major oil producing state like Akwaibom but one can never place Asaba on the same pedestal with Uyo. Even ikot ekpene is almost overtaking Asaba despite the huge oil revenues. Agreed Anambra has its own fair share of bad roads just like every single state in Nigeria, but the reality is that Soludo is tacking it state wide. By the time he is done, Anambra would have regained it prime position as the state with the best road networks in Nigeria.

I knew you would write this. Anyone that knows me will vouch that I'm more of an Anambra person than anything. I grew up in Odoakpu, Onitsha! Behind CKC church and school! You are not an Igboman, if not you would know that if I grew up there I'm a complete umu iyoo! My parents lived in MCC, and still live in Omaba today where they own a house. So you see why i stay more in Onitsha than Asaba? In Ojukwu's voice I'll tell you it's Because I'm involved. Ighotago?
My wife is also from Anambra! So Anambra is truly my home and I have every right to defend it and criticize bad governance when I feel so. If Nigeria were a reasonable country, I would be able to claim I'm from Anambra in any document! The way Nigerians claim to be American citizens by being born there or living there for a few years!

I said all this to let you know that I have more stake in Anambra's development than faceless people like you that attack anyone pushing for the development of the state. I will not waste my time on your distraction of comparing Asaba and Awka which became state capitals the on same day! You can do that comparison yourself. Na you sabi.

My goal is to highlight anything that will bring glory to Anambra and allow it to become what it should be.

The roads in the picture were the major main roads in the cities:
1. Club road (Abakaliki street) in Awka
2. Mcc junction near Enugu - Onitsha expressway in Onitsha
3. Nnewi - Oba road (just before Nkwo Triangle) in Nnewi
4. Kpirikpiri road close to Mile 50, in Abakaliki.

I could have picked Oguta road or Awka in Onitsha. If I did, you would still complain. If I had posted a picture of the New Centenary city in Abakaliki or its dazzling Mall flyovers you would still complain. Truth be told, you know I'm saying the truth! A real state of emergency on urban roads in all Anambra's cities is urgently required.

It is obvious that due to how massive the collapse of road infrastructure is within Anambra cities, not even the budget of Lagos State can address the situation by awarding all the roads as "Contracts". Let contracts to construction companies be used for building roads traversing from one part of the state to another. While internal city roads and drainage gutters are purely by DIRECT Labor through a special committee on Anambra internal city roads that reports directly to the governor.

If we learned anything from the administration of Sam Egwu and Umahi in gradually transforming the city of Abakaliki as the best good roads network in the southeast, it is the fact that they both used DIRECT LABOUR to gradually rebuild every street and every gutter in the city. That is the ONLY cost-effective method that can be employed to transform the internal city roads in Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, Ekwulobia, etc.

We cannot afford the method of awarding "contracts" for our internal city roads in Anambra state. That is a very expensive and wasteful method which will not address 1% of the problem of bad roads within our major cities.

I'm glad to see some of you are finally bringing up this serious issue. I didn't want to raise this issue because I knew Anambra people themselves should use their tongue to count their teeth.

Truth be told, when I was growing up in Onitsha in the 1980s and 1990s, Abakaliki was the DUST CAPITAL of the world!
Cities like Onitsha, Awka, and Nnewi had decent roads and minimal dust. Today, the reverse is the case!

Rebuilding the internal roads in Anambra's key urban centers must be a key priority. You are right that Soludo won't even scratch the surface of the problem if he hopes to use the easy method of awarding contracts. Direct labor is the solution to reasonably solving this shameful issue. How Abakaliki managed to transform itself from the dust capital of the world to the shining modern city of today must be studied by anyone that wants to develop despite having lean resources.

Yes, Soludo could award contracts to local contractors to hire local labor to do the roads under the supervision of the governor's office.
