Cjrane2: GBAM! I hate the way the Obi people want to continuously demonize Obiano in order to claim his solid achievements as their own!
If Obiano was a failed governor as they had hoped, they would have dissociated themselves from any of his projects! It is clear that the Taraba Governor was just lying through his teeth that Obiano told him mockingly that it was Obi's money that he utilized to build the Anambra Intl. airport! Let's face it, Obiano could never have said that. Remember this false statement was purportedly made during Obiano's second term when his relationship with Obi had become so dreadful. To the contrary, Obiano made it public that he actually inherited about N10 billion naira in the Anambra accounts, but had a liability of more than N110 billion naira in debt owed!
Moreso, another piece of evidence that Obiano never told the Taraba governor that silly lie is that he began building the airport in his 2nd term! At that time, he had a very adverse relationship with Peter Obi due to numerous attacks on his person by the former. Not to mention that if Obi had left anything in the preceding 6.5 years before the airport construction was started by Obiano, that resource would have long been used to complete the Agulu Lake Hotel in his hometown, the Onitsha mall, and numerous roads and bridges abandoned at the time!
Willie Obiano is truly a juggernaut! So he decided not to ruin Obi's chances by coming out in public to expose the lies told by the Taraba governor. I hope Prof Soludo will learn Obiano's method of KEEPING QUIET and WORKING HARD for the progress of the people that elected him instead of writing letters. Ultimately, it is Ndi Anambra that will decide if he did well or not as their governor. Not the faceless social media goons that have no PVC!
For clarity, let me emphasize that I am not against Peter Obi's ambition. I totally agree that among the current politicians running to become President, he is the best and most eminently qualified for the job.
However, I am totally against HIS THUGGISH SUPPORTERS that believe the only way to promote their candidate is to totally demonize Chief Obiano and even claim his achievements as belonging to Peter Obi!
globemoney01: Pls stop bringing up the Taraba governor fake news. Obiano has never mentioned he built the airport from any savings. Obiano has only said he inherited over 100 billion debt! If the airport had failed glory hunters would have disassociated themselves from it !

Prof Soludo has quietly learned about Obiano's greatness and his wealth of knowledge in managing Anambra despite the distractions he encountered.
I hope Prof Soludo will learn Obiano's method of KEEPING QUIET and WORKING HARD for the progress of the people that elected him! Ultimately, it is those people that will decide if he did well or not. Not the social media goons that have no PVC! Anambra still fondly remembers the mantra of "WILLIE IS WORKING" which spoke volumes for Obiano every time his detractors launched an attack on him in the media. His numerous infrastructural works defended him more than any ill-advised letter on the pages of newspapers
It is clear that the ongoing Abakaliki International stadium would be among the best 3 in the country after Abuja and uyo.
I have not stopped wondering where and how Dave Umahi finds the money for all these projects! While some states cannot even patch potholes on major roads in their dusty capital cities!
Rocksvibes234: *First Anniversary of Anambra International Passenger and Cargo Airport*
By Paul Nwosu
The First Anniversary of Anambra International Passenger and Cargo Airport, Umueri is at once a cause for celebration and sober reflection. It calls for celebration that such a magnificent edifice could be built against all odds, especially as the Covid-19 pandemic raged on and successfully began flight operations on December 7, 2021. The brand new airport built under administration of the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, remarkably recorded 142 flights carrying 3,865 passengers in its first month of operation. The airport has ever since waxed quite strong by serving as a well-facilitated conduit for ferrying passengers ever since its commencement of flight activities. It especially saved the highly itinerant Anambra commerce-oriented people the trouble of having to travel to Asaba, Enugu or Owerri to catch flights to their business destinations.
The sober reflection on Anambra International Airport is that it is as yet a work in progress. The necessary hope is anchored on the multiform plans Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, has in place of turning the airport into an international showpiece for passengers and cargo haulage. Mr. Governors design of an Anambra Emporium for exports bears the imprimatur of the Anambra International Passenger and Cargo Airport.
Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike has given the promise that regular international flights may commence at the turn of the New Year. She disclosed that discussions are ongoing with some airlines in France, Germany and the United States for the commencement of the international flight operations. In this busy Christmas season, the domestic passenger airlines, Air Peace and United Nigeria Airline, are busy flying full schedules into and out of Anambra State.
On the planned international front, initial studies have shown that from Anambra to Miami in the USA is just about eight hours of flight time. Transport Commissioner Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike said: We are engaging with the airlines to find out ways we can make it possible for airlines to carry passengers from Anambra to Miami directly.”
It is a universally known fact that commerce is the second name of Ndi-Anambra who are always open for business. Through the airport, Anambra businessmen and women are ready to build relationships and interface with their contemporaries around the world.
On the part of the government, Mrs. Igwebuike stressed: We are also looking for partners from airports around the world. We are new, and the advantage of being new is that we get to do things in line with international best practices. We are looking for investors and experts that will assist us in capacity-building. Also, we want to grow our revenue base.”
The Anambra aviation authorities are in advanced discussions with many local and international airlines, and Commissioner Igwebuike assures that “we are doing things systematically and learning from those who are already in the system. We do not believe in reinventing the wheel.” Mrs. Igwebuike further said: We have engaged with some companies in France, Munich, and now we are engaging the Maimi Dade County. We will seek a partnership or some sort of collaboration. We are going to acquire all the necessary footprints to make ourselves known.”
The grand plan is to make the Anambra International Passenger and Cargo Airport commercially viable. Through the Anambra Emporium, export revenue will start flowing into the state through the vast riches of exportation via the airport. Being in its first year, the airport is still in the process of growth. In due course, it will break even.
According to Commissioner Igwebuike, We have generated revenue from the airport for the government of the state. It is very promising from the way we are going and when we grow it the way we want to grow it, both the commercial arm and others, it will be self-sustaining. That is where we are going.”
The Anambra International Passenger and Cargo Airport is indeed an idea whose time has come.
*SIR PAUL NWOSU* Commissioner for Information
Las Las, we all should be very GRATEFUL to Obiano for his giant strides in Anambra.
I can confidently say that he would probably be the most development-minded, critical thinker that ever occupied government house Awka. The only thing was that Obiano was not a noise maker and did not use the media to hype himself.
All the same, I am grateful for the magnificent work he did in Anambra state!
ANSMEDIA: Nnamdi Azikiwe university teaching hospital, Nnewi Anambra state has moved to its magnificient massive beautiful state-of-the-art permanent site at Nnewi Ozubulu Anambra state. Biggest and finest addition to the southeastern Nigeria. More pictures soon.
Finally, it appears that some departments have already moved to the permanent site of the hospital. I am very happy that whoever is in-charge has prioritized landscaping with the planting of trees to make the environment conducive and befitting.
Chikeluba25: More details from the event at International Conference Center (ICC) Awka. Truly, Anambra is home of Innovation.
Without sounding unappreciative, I truly hate when these toys are made especially by adults and displayed as some type of "Technological breakthrough".
It just reinforces the notion that black men are inferior mentally and technologically when compared to their peers from other parts of the world.
We should stop this habit of gloating over crudely made toys as some type of "technological breakthrough" for our people!
Nigerian "engineers" are the DUMBEST in the world.
Although t don't think it's really their fault. They merely graduated on theories and never had the proper equipment to practically learn anything they crammed in school.
I was shocked at so many of them and their sheer lack of engineering knowledge or imagination. This type of practical training is very important for these "engineers" to learn a few practical engineering applications to solve problems.
Ndibunna: Stuffs like this should be posted on pan Igbo thread not here. The only thing to be entertained here is news concentrated in Anambra state.
You can still go and post this Maria nwachi post on Ebonyi thread.
Let's stop polluting and deviating this thread.
That Maria Nwachi is one of the worst vermins called human being. She is merely a mouthpiece of Dave Umahi. So she would NEVER speak out against those selling out her state and Igbo interest for a mere ministerial appointment.
owobokiri: There has been an upsurge in herdsmen kidnappings in Enugu over the last few days. This is coming after Enugu residents complained of helicopters dropping northerners in the hills surrounding the city.. The Nsukka to Enugu part of the state is basically under lockdown. Folks that travelled down to the villa can't come out. Even students returning back to UNN are being kidnapped..
Finally, it is obvious to you and everyone that kidnapping is a HUGE organized crime business by top shots in Nigeria.
Powerful criminals in government send their foot soldiers anywhere in Nigeria to kidnap the people for ransom. Then they use their top position in government to protect their foot soldiers by making sure that neither the Nigerian army nor Police will ever interfer with the mission of these kidnappers.
Nigerians are at the mercy of God in the hands of these wicked cabal manipulating our government and security apparatus.
Emeskhalifa: Those wey read Economics, aside the fact that it will give those who starch Naira in their apartments and underground basement, of what economical value is the redesign of Naira
Why would anyone stash Naira of all currencies? A currency that depreciates daily? I mean N100k can buy you a TV set in the morning and by the next morning, you will need N150k for the same TV! So why should you save your money in such unstable currency?
globemoney01: This dirty sweating scammer, you are still crying over Obiano after he chased miscreants like you out of the streets. Again, Obiano did more important things than roads. Every governor can build roads, even Mbadinuju, Peter Obi and other mediocre governors built roads, but not every governor can start and complete an Airport, Stadium, ICC etc in just 8 years.
But even at that Obiano built more roads than all former Anambra governors. Most roads Soludo is awarding today are the fake substandard roads peter Obi did in less than 16 years.
You and your fellow idiots NwekereNdoki should stop derailing this thread by crying over Obiano every now and then, take your frustrations to your states.
TRUTH BE TOLD, Obiano actually moved Anambra forward very massively. I am fervently praying for Soludo.
In Nigeria, some people just promise heaven and earth to be voted into office. Only to find out that they need to have an innovative plan for securing funds and applying them to developmental projects that they know will develop the state. You cannot successfully rule a state like Anambra if you are not prepared for what you will do, and realistic ways to fund them. You MUST also seek CHEAPER / COST EFFECTIVE ways of building infrastructure rather than squandering the little money on expensive contracts with foreign companies.
Unless a Governor first understands that Nigeria is poor and cannot develop on the available resources without a very smart way of using DIRECT LABOUR to take advantage of abundant cheap labor than paying for very expensive labor offered by foreign construction companies. That is the ONLY reason Dave Umahi performed wonders in Ebonyi state ~ DIRECT LABOUR! There is no single foreign construction company in Ebonyi state, yet it is the leading state in infrastructure provision in the entire southern Nigeria!
What you find is that many come into government "UNPREPARED" and then complain endlessly about why there is no money already waiting for them to merely spend. Instead of finding innovative ways to generate IGR.
It is very comforting to see this tariff list for various traffic offenses.
They should put in place a good enforcement team and ways to make sure the money goes into the state treasury. They should also publicize it so that everyone knows the penalty for breaking the law.
Only a well-motivated and supervised direct Labour taskforce can fix all the internal city roads based on the scarce funds now. Any plans about awarding contracts for Anambra intra-city roads are simply misadvised.
Hopefully, equipment and the direct labor taskforce on roads are being put together now.
NwekereNdoki: Most of those roads were recently reconstructed by Wike. PH has moved Away from open drainage roads without sidewalks.
Wike banned street trading decisively. Onitsha and Akwa need to aggressively do the same.
Onitsha is more developed/built up than PH, but because Onitsha have many bad roads and less greenery, PH looks better.
I pray major cities in Igbo land like Onitsha, Owerri, Abakiliki, Awka, Asaba, Aba, Enugu etc. do same
You just summarized the issue so aptly!
The SE simply needs Governors like WIKE! A governor should have the courage to correct societal abnormalities such as street trading and using the roads as a parking lot for disused or broken-down vehicles and caterpillars.
If Anambra in particular can enforce the ban on street trading and tow away any broken down trucks or caterpillar left on the roads, it would be very easy to develop and even surpass the looks of PH.
I'm worried that Soludo seems overwhelmed already by the tough decisions he needs to make to make Anambra a liveable and prosperous zone. It is clear that fixing Anambra is not about making fine speeches but dealing with those who have perpetuated abnormalities in the state for decades and now they think it's normal.
PROUDIGBO: Update on construction works for the new Ebonyi airport.
Really impressed with the level and standard of works completed so far. One of the officials interviewed mentioned they hope the first plane would land at the airport by october this year. Really don't know where Governor Umahi is finding the money to do all these mega projects in the state. The man would go down in history as the architect and father of modern Ebonyi.
At this point, i've given up begging for the colour riot used on all these public buildings and flyovers to toned down a bit! Seems Umahi isn't listening so what's the point!?
This airport would serve the state as a socio-economic catalyst......its benefits and effect on the states economy would start to be felt in the next three to four years. I hope they engage experienced international consultants with a good track record in airport construction so the highest safety/operational/technical standards are met for the airports smooth takeoff in october. Also, priority should be given to properly landscaping the airports surroundings and approach road.
Umahi is truly a magician! But, the October 2022 test landing should not be political talk!
Umahi should do everything to make the test landing in October happen. This airport will crown his achievements in Ebonyi and ensure future generations shall remember him as the David that delivered his people.
globemoney01: Even though we are allowing obi supporters run with the narrative that he kept the money that was used to build Anambra Airport for lack of projects to campaign with, however we have to make it known here that Obiano, nor any of his official has never mentioned this anywhere, infact Obi and his attack dogs Omanambala have been telling us how Obiano squandered this so called "savings" since his first tenure.
Lets all be guided before Obiano will be forced to release a statement on this like Soludo did with Sabmiller.
Very very true!
Obi left hundreds of uncompleted roads and projects which were completed by Obiano. If Obiano wanted, he could gave abandoned them all, but he didn't. People always like to discuss assets left without the huge liabilities.
But in the interest of igbo unity, it is better for Obiano to keep quiet about the whole thing. Any reasonable person cannot underestimate the contribution of Obiano to Anambra's development
OreMI22: Noticeable efforts to beautify public spaces in the state are going on!
Meanwhile, its refreshing to see that the airport is still being developed gradually. Avio bridges installation being finalized.
God bless Gov. Soludo and former Gov Obiano wherever he is, for his courage to concieve and execute such transformational project for the state!
God bless Peter Obi for helping to conserve the funds utilized in executing the project!
Hopefully Gov. Soludo will construct a flyover bridge to make the airport road easily accessible for those coming from Onitsha along the expressway and those going to Awka from the airport road via the expressway. Something similar to the Enugu airport flyover that makes the airport road easily accessible from the Abakaliki expressway.
FreedomfromtheT: A new trick adopted by those afraid of Peter Obi tsunami is to make him appear like an ethnic candidate. Obviously, there are people sponsored by Peter Obi's opponents, some of whom bear Igbo names pretending to be Peter Obi's supporters whose speciality is to abuse and curse northerners -Fulanis, Hausas, Yorubas and other tribes including Moslems so as to make them hate Peter Obi. The propagandists then harp into this game by telling us that Peter Obi's supporters are acidic and full of insults and therefore Peter Obi should be hated for the offenses of his 'supporters'. Let us assume that those people or some of them are actually his supporters. Would you reject a qualified, competent teacher from teaching your children because his admirers hate you? Would you prefer a quack surgeon to operate you simply because the relatives of the competent surgeon are not in good terms with you? Would you choose that a bad pilot drives you to another country when you have a sound proven pilot simply because the sister of the good pilot spoke roughly to you? Will you reject a competent engineer or builder and go for a fake one to build you a house just because the former's friends addressed you in a wrong way? Does that even make sense? If we believe that Peter Obi and his running mate Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed have the competence, pedigree and credibility to take us to the promised land, why will someone in his right senses reject them because their 'supporters' are intolerant and insultive? Since Peter Obi has told his supporters to be tolerant of dissenting opinions, don't you think those who continue to insult other tribes while pretending to be his supporters are actually working for his political opponents? May God bless those who reason well and who want Nigeria to get it right come 2023 in Jesus' name, Amen.
That is EXACTLY the tactics of the opposition.
To smear Peter as a tribalist through pretending to be a Peter Obi supporter and insulting Nigerian tribes.
ChimaAdeoye: Some of the Commissioners in the current dispensation could be the types of people described as "Resume Warriors"
On their resume written by professional resume writers, they look very good. But in reality, they lack experience in doing what is required in an environment where they are not spoon-fed and micro-managed on what to do.
Imagine that we have a commissioner for youths and sports in Anambra, yet the pitch of the recently completed Awka City stadium is flooded with mud and red soil? Who has taken Monimichelle up on its obligation to continuously maintain the pitch? How did it happen that laterite sand was used to set the pitch instead of white river sand?
The same issue is currently happening at the new International Conference center. Tall grass is already overgrowing the environment with no events going on there and no attempt to get a private sector hotel there to help in the maintenance of the facility.
When dubious people asked why Obiano was in a hurry to complete the airport and other legacy projects since he could just handover the uncompleted projects to the next government to complete. We knew Obiano was right to complete what he started. Else the Anambra airport today would have been another uncompleted project.
That is why we are pleading with Dave Umahi to complete his airport before leaving. To avoid wasting Ebonyi money in an abandoned project .
fergie001: Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa arrives PDP HQs for VP-Screening.
Some party members welcomed him into the building, "Congratulating" him.
Senator / Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is a fantastic choice!
PDP is putting together an unbeatable team. Most importantly, they understand the need to save Nigeria and make it a viable united country away from the current path of civil war that Nigeria has gradually continued to tread on.
Even comparing Anambra Secretariat to Enugu secretariat built around the same period, it is obvious that Peter Obi is tasteless. If Obiano had built the Anambra secretariat, it would not look like a Russian prison yard. With Obi's characteristic brown paint on everything!
The strategy of Peter Obi is to rush to claim to have built something without paying ZERO attention to the QUALITY of the project! That is why his projects are of extremely LOW-QUALITY where they were completed at all.
That is where Obiano is a billion miles ahead of Peter Obi in everything because Obiano pays very close attention to ensure that the state gets the best QUALITY project at the same price.
Infact, Obiano visits his projects regularly to ensure the QUALITY is top-notch. While Obi will merely pay money to cronies for the state project, and they will deliver the WORST low-quality project at the highest cost for the state.
Obiano is 1,000,0000,000 times better than Peter Obi!
Peter Obi is a fraudulent HYPE!
Peter Obi supporters should STOP comparing him to Obiano because we all saw the 8 years tenure of both men and what they achieved! Peter Obi practically made noise for 8 years with ANIDS and achieved NOTHING tangible on the ground! While Obiano worked tirelessly to elevate the state to its current status as one of the fastest developing in the country!
Even comparing the QUALITY of Obiano's projects to the richest oil-producing states like Akwa Ibom, you'd thought Anambra was the oil-producing state and the others were not. Peter Obi should try his luck with becoming Nigerian president without trying to diminish Obiano. It is clear to even the blind that Obiano executed too many concrete HIGH QUALITY projects in Anambra. While Peter Obi cannot point to even a single high-quality project that he did!
Take a look at the Anambra workers secretariat that he built with billions of naira and compare it with the Enugu workers secretariat built in the same period with less funds to see what i mean!
Looking at the e-Library built by Peter Obi and the e-library built by Akpabio within the same era, you can tell the difference between who is an underperformer with a mindset that poor quality projects are okay.
When will Nigeria develop if everything always has to be an inferior, poor-quality project? Everything has to be built with such extreme poor quality as though we are still in the 1940s!
