This gladdens my heart.

Obiano is the Living legend.
No matter how much one tries to claim he isn't a praise singer, you cannot be indifferent to the spectacular achievements of Willie Obiano!
If every Governor in Nigeria took their state far as Obiano took Anambra in the last 8 years, Nigeria would have been like South Korea today. I still wonder how he found money to out-perform even my own oil-producing state next door. Walahi, the thing still dey shock me!

Meanwhile, I enjoyed this young artist's tribute to Obiano.

They are now more PATRIOTIC than President BUHARI. grin grin grin Nigeria is no longer a failed Country and a ZOO. Nigerian flags are now the most valuable thing to them. You can equate Nigerian flags to Gold.

I initially thought I'll see them show love and identifying with Biafra, by displaying Biafran flags. Some of them even use Nigerian flags to sew clothes. grin they flaunt it around like a new Bride. grin grin grin

Lol.... grin grin grin

They better keep it closed for the rest of the year because the effects of the sanctions on their Rubble will be massive and take many years to reverse. Those Putin ediots hoping on China to ruin its own economy to save Russia are on a long thing! China has suffered for more than 50 years now to build up its economy and trade agreement. They will not risk their successes for Putin's madness.

The question is WHYhuh??

WHY would Putin put his country through these unnecessary ruins just to change a government in Ukraine? Well, let's see if he'll even be able to change the Ukraine government sef. Eventually, his army will feel the sting of all these weapons flowing to Ukraine.

I just hate dictators because their ego is a bigger consideration than the lives of their countrymen.

IPOB has set the South East back by more than 10 years.
The funny things is that this so-called ESN is made up of bastards, retarded urchins, criminal elements, thugs, touts, cultists and other evil dredges of the society.

They just insult, maim and kill anyone who doesn't agree with their regressive and devilish views.

I pray to God that this ESN terrorism ends in the South East one day, that peace may return. Amen.
As much as these IPOB and ESN miscreants are a bunch of dumb, unemployed thugs, it is obvious that some of the crimes they are accused of are being perpetrated by Fulani-dominated security forces and DSS.

In this thread too, you have used more than 3 accounts to write the same poor English grammar trying to blame IPOB for these crimes. The worst part is that you pretend not to know that it is the federal government that controls all the security forces in Nigeria. Therefore, how could you blame the governor who cannot control the state Commissioner of Police or the various federal government military and para-military forces all over the place?

Thus, you give your true identities out by carrying out a futile media war against IPOB, Igbo people, and the SE state governors. You will simply continue to fail because people already know for themselves what the plan of the Fulanis is for the southeast region. Continue wasting your time with multiple monikers arguing what is totally senseless. It does not make any discerning individual believe your falsehoods.

You are totally right!

Not to mention that the bridge isn't even free. They have to pay a whopping N2,500 naira toll fee to use it each time! Unlike similar infrastructure, the local population isn't taxed to pay back the cost of building the infrastructure.

Do you know that more than 50% Anambra residents left Anambra on Sunday for southsouth and Southwest states? If you know any body that traveled out of Anambra on Sunday through Niger bridge; ask him/her how many hours he spent in traffic gridlock before he could cross over to Asaba due to massive migration out of Anambra.
The worst of it all is that the people enforcing this sit at home are criminals and jobless agberos who are taking advantage of the sit at home order to commit crime, covered by IPOB immunity
I'm sure you are aware of the two that were killed in Onitsha by mob, if they had succeeded, I know many people will be blaming their victims (whether dead or alive) for not obeying the sit @home order while they hail the evil doers (supposed ESN officers) for enforcing IPOB sit at home order.
If there is a way Nigerians can claim the oxygen in the air only benefits Igbos, they would say it!

If national infrastructure is built and it passes anywhere at all in the east, they would over-flog it as though it was something done specifically only for the local place where it passed.

I have NEVER heard the level of rhetoric on this Niger bridge about how The Ajaokuta bridge, River Kaduna Bridge, River Benue Bridge, or even the 3rd Mainland bridge benefits only the state where the bridge is built and not all the Nigerians using it to travel around the country!

Meanwhile, the Niger Bridge is built between 2 state boundaries! Not even totally contained within one state!

Looks like Soludo wants to run a government of appeasement. Well, no matter how hard you try to appease and be liked by the establishment, if you fail to work for the people, you will ultimately fail at the task you were elected to carry out. I wonder where he will find money to pay these political heavyweights and still find the money for his "state of emergency" on Anambra roads?

Something must give.

My brother, you are absolutely right. The tempo of development at the airport has drastically slowed. The only noticeable improvement is that they appeared to have swept the internal road and car park. They also put up directional road signs and signs to remind folks to wear seat belts and labeled the power station building.

One hopes that sweeping the internal roads mean they will finally mark the roads properly. Not marking a road properly after construction is like not painting a house after plastering. Even if you live in such a house for 100 years, it will always appear somewhat uncompleted. That is why properly marking the approach main dual-carriageway all the way to the internal roads within the airport is very important. Especially as this is an international airport where we expect visitors to form their first impression of Nigeria. Also marking the main access roads could help attract the right types of individuals to invest in the appropriate buildings required along that dual-carriage way.
O'l boy, I love this picture!

Hopefully, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor will see it and do the needful. He appears to be the only Commissioner that is result-oriented and will go the extra mile to bullishly get things done. Hopefully, Soludo will retain that guy for a while.

I think a Governor's ultimate infrastructural achievement often depends on the character of who becomes their Commissioner of Works and Housing. If you have lazy people in this vital ministry, you will reap a mountain of excuses and achieve absolutely nothing for all the money spent.

IGBOSON1:
You’d do well to leave IPOB alone! They rescinded their call for the boycott of the just concluded Anambra elections, which shows they’re not as autocratic and unlistening as some of you are trying to portray them!

This is a group that the despotic and murderous Buhari thugs kidnapped and illegally rendered from Kenya back to Nigeria....purportedly to ‘face justice’! We all are witnesses to how Buhari -that recently laughably claims to respect the rule of law- is flouting judges orders on respect for Mazi Kanus rights while in detention....as well as using delay tactics and outright illegality to delay commencement of the case proper! One would have thought they’re sure of their case against him and are eager to see him ‘convicted and sentenced’ for the trumped-up charges they have against him!

Knowing all this....and seeing the way the Buhari junta have marginalised, cheated, humiliated and murdered Igbos in cold-blood, one would have hoped that you, a Igbo man (as you claim), would understand IPOBs position even if you don’t support their pronouncements! Even i didn’t support their initial call for the boycott of the Anambra elections, and i made my position clear at the time. But what you wouldn’t see me as a Igbo man do is try to mock or ridicule them on Nigerian social-media, knowing this dissension and division amongst us is exactly what Igbo-hating bigots are going for!
No matter the justifications for the IPOB's struggle and how appropriate it is in the present situation. If IPOB does not issue a sit-at-home order and campaign for "No Elections" in specifically Imo, Abia, and Ebonyi the way it vigorously did in 2017 and 2021 in Anambra, it would be obvious the organization has a rabid anti-Anambra agenda.

People noticed that IPOB conveniently forgot or refused to disturb or threaten Imo and Abia elections in 2019 and complained about the partiality. If they do it again, it will be clear that their target is only Anambra.

If you consider the population of Anambra in Igboland, you will agree with me that IPOB has scored an own goal by negatively targeting only that state.

They should also reach out to Davido, Olamide and other less tribalistic Nigerian celebrities to come and be part of it.

You left your state and came to Anambra to do IPOB and ESN. Endlessly arguing for IPOB ideology in Anambra thread instead of IMO or Abia thread!

The funniest part is that you shameless people have the effrontery to demand what the elected Anambra leaders must do for IPOD. After doing all in your power to frustrate elections in my state! I don't have time for you IPOB pigs! I also will not be responding or joining issues with half illiterates that don't know when to use uppercase in a sentence. SMH.

Ndo nu!
Nwanne, calm down. I feel your outrage too. Anyone who does not agree with their methods is a sabo or must be working for the government. There are two schools of thought on this issue. The first school of thought wants the total destruction of Biafraland and the death of every Biafran if that is what it takes for Biafra to emerge. The second school of thought wants the development of Biafraland and a democratic approach to the struggle using non-violent means.

I also subscribe with the latter and disagree with the criminality going on in Imo state in the name of Biafra. However, I don't blame the youths nor do I blame Nnamdi Kanu. Although I think his utter contempt and disregard for Igbo elders and Igbo leaders or anybody whatsoever that holds any contrary opinion is the reason he fell into the trap of being lured to Kenya and the current state of the struggle today as a result of that mistake.

Like MNK and IPOB, Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge were of the opinion that in order to kill corruption and materialism, every corrupt, wealthy or materialistic Cambodian had to be killed. So as to usher in a new generation of Cambodians with the mindset of extreme communism, lack of any desire for profit-making / corruption in the new population.

Pol Pot was wrong because he failed to realize that every vice was learned and therefore, even some of those who will be born in the next 20 years, will be corrupt or armed robbers! That is why I always tell my Biafran brothers that we must fix our homeland first and promote pan-Igbo unity. The idea of destroying everything we have in the belief that once we get Biafra every vice will magically disappear and our homeland would magically develop itself is totally mistaken. Just like Pol Pot was mistaken to believe that killing every corrupt or rich Cambodian and not building strong anti-corruption institutions to punish corrupt people, was the best way to fight corruption. It is even more funny when you view that Cambodia today ranks among the most corrupt countries on earth! After all the ill-advised killings of its business community and wealthy citizens! Let our brothers understand that you can develop your homeland as you struggle to get your freedom.

I love the fact that Obiano commissioned this project on December 28th, 2021 as promised.

As he already indicated, whatever work is still outstanding will continue after the commissioning. This means the car park and other works can continue.

Monimichelle really delayed this project hoping for endless contract reviews, and almost messed Obiano up. Using the oldest trick employed by a typical Nigerian contractor which is to give a litany of excuses why nothing was done so as to endlessly delay the completion of a project and thus demand upwards review of contracts due to inflation. My regret is that Monimichelle was rewarded by giving them the maintenance contract for the pitch.

Hopefully, they will acquire adequate land along the new Anambra Intl. airport dual carriageway to build the Olympic Anambra international stadium. That site will be the best location for the state's Olympic stadium as it will be easily accessible and almost equidistant from Awka or Onitsha. The Awka City Stadium will continue to be used for sports development for the number of years that the new state Olympic stadium is under construction.

Like Ebonyi state is building its Olympic stadium in the Ochiudo city even though it has a basic stadium within Abakaliki city. It will cost about the same to build the Anambra international stadium, than to add up to 30,000 sitting capacity in the Awka City stadium. Moreover, it allows Anambra to have a standard stadium in Awka and an International Olympic stadium for hosting major sporting events in one arena.
Totally true and very aptly said!

An international stadium like the Uyo or Abuja stadium is something planned and executed from the scratch! Everything will have a designated area from the original master plan. If you want it to be a sports complex, then everything from the swimming pool to the indoor sports center will have to be designated in the plan to succeed.

Upgrading existing stadium costs a lot of money and you still wouldn't get the high standard of an international stadium built from the scratch with one plan. If they tell you how much was used in upgrading and adding seats to the Stephen Keshi Stadium, you would ask why Delta did not just build a brand new stadium of international standard.

@ bolded, I agree with you that only landscaping will make the AMC be an ordinary or extra-ordinary estate.

Kigali isn't such a great African city because it has better or taller buildings than Abuja, Lagos or Accra. Kigali simply made a decision to massively PLANT TREES AND FLOWERS. Thus, it transformed itself from a dusty city to a huge garden city virtually overnight.

So landscaping is everything! Just that our people are still hyper-focused on only concrete structures and sculptures. Landscaping is the key to creating an ambient extra-ordinary environment.

MoniMichelle guy always appears up to something. Indeed, I think all his plans to delay the project and ask for contract re-award had been defeated by Obiano's promise to constantly visit every week. He should ask China railways how Obiano inspects his projects. You can't deceive the guy by talking technical jargon. He pays close attention to everything he spends his money on. He is a professional auditor, so anything he pays for, he wants to see you working on that when he visits the site.

It is obvious MoniMichelle had never met a hardworking governor like Obiano. Who would pay you to deliver, then personally visit the site every week to ensure that you are working on the project grin grin grin grin

Obiano isn't the type of guy you would take his money and disappear into thin air. Only to re-appear after a few weeks to ask for contract reappraisal because you didn't do what you were paid to do at the time you got the money.

I am glad they will give Momi-Michelle a contract to maintain the pitch. How they perform in that role will determine if it's even worth spending the state's resources on the company moving forward. So far, they have done a good job. Although they have moved at a snail speed.

It's the fear of domination, no one wants to be dominated, and that's how they interpret Igbo actions. Moving to Lagos to establish a movie industry, the other ethnic groups, namely Yoruba people, would see it as an attempt to dominate. That's why they quickly established their own one, likewise in the North.

That's all the "other" groups think, when they see Igbo people making moves. Domination, Domination, Domination. It's that same mindset that drives them to knock down properties belonging to Igbo people.

That's the problem you're faced with when you have forced unions, ethnic groups that are very dissimilar from one another, living together in a single entity. The reality is, all men aren't created equally, and it's that same fear that's been the bedrock of the Nigerian mindset.

The only solution is capitulation, for Yoruba people to allow Igbo people to control everything within their domain or for Northerners to allow Igbo people to run all the businesses and control all of the wealth of their land. But we know that's NEVER going to happen.

P.S. Naturally, Igbo people would be "more" Nigerian than everyone else, because we stand to benefit more from that thinking. We're overwhelmingly the entrepreneurs, the business men and women. The builders, the traders, etc... and so, other regions within Nigeria would be looked at as fertile grounds. New lands to generate wealth and profits, at the expense of its current inhabitants (at least, that's how our actions will/would be interpreted).
I agree with this. Its a fear that has been there since the formation of Nigeria.

I remember in the hay days of P square when i asked the D J to play a P Square song during my friend's party. The D J flatly responded that my friend instructed him to play only Yoruba artists. I was fairly embarrassed but i managed a smile and went back to my seat. Till date i have wondered if my best friend truly gave that instruction. So its a mindset issue

Nobody is in doubt that Obiano truly transformed Anambra and took it to a higher level. Only two sets of people can be from Anambra state and claim not to appreciate Obiano.

1. Kidnappers and violent criminals whose business syndicate was destroyed by his Operation Kpochapu
2. Politicians who thought they could use Obiano as a puppet to loot the state's treasury.

One must appreciate Obiano that despite refusing to be used as a puppet to loot the state, he magnanimously completed the Agulu Lake Hotel to the highest standard, and the Onitsha mall without simply abandoning them and starting his own as 99.9% of politicians would do.

Immediately after the election we stopped getting news on there activities. Could it be a convenience or there's a motive behind this unknown gumen.

We also had incidence of unknown soldiers in the 90s. Could this be politically motivated or are these unknown gunmen truly ipob faction?
You already know the answer.

The same Malami and his co-traveler Andy Uba that used "Unknown" gunmen as an excuse to try and impose a state of emergency on Anambra no longer need the services of these poor boys that were armed and told to unleash mayhem to justify their evil plot.

It illustrates to you how little the lives of ordinary Nigerians and the security officers mean to these men in government.

I don't think you guys understood the whole letter. The letter said that all restrictions will be removed pending outstanding requirements. The fact that ANSG didn't complain as they would usually do if it were to be a political issue, shows that actually, there might be facilities that aren't 100% complete. Asaba airport too started as category b.

Secondly, the Night time restriction is justified because I'm sure the airport ILS is still uncalibrated. They do calibrate ILS systems with a special aircraft and that takes weeks. If that was already done, we would have known and seen the pictures here. the DME and radar too have likely not been calibrated, You see where the issue is?

The perimeter fencing, IDK was it complete at inspection time?
Deceitful post full of unverified speculations and assumptions.

How did you figure that the airport was not fully fenced? Even Owerri airport that operates Boeing 737 isn't fully fenced. Enugu airport just got fully fenced this year. Yet it had been receiving Boeing 787 Ethiopian airlines dream liner since 2013.

Again, how many airports receiving Boeing 737s in Nigeria have even landing lights or even runway edge lights? Talkmore of ILS category 1 or 2 system calibrated or not. Many of them don't even have steady water supply talkmore a firestation and functional fire trucks!

Truth is that the completion of this airport shocked so many who hitherto believed it will be abandoned like a typical Nigeria project. I was one of them. I knew it took my state which was an oil producing state about 12 years to build an international standard airport. Yet, my own states airport which is way better equipped than Enugu and Owerri still pales in comparison to what Obiano achieved in this airport within just 2 years. That is why i have been super impressed by it and its potential for the region. I also know that as this airport draws the first set of international airlines to this part of the country, my state's airport will be better able to attract one or two major airlines to use it as it has excellent aviation facilities, functional firestation with fire trucks and a 3.5KM runway too

ANSMEDIA:
Air Peace announces flights into Anambra Airport

The Nigerian airline, Air Peace, has stated that it would commence scheduled flights operations into the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

The airline’s decision to commence flight operations into the airport followed the recent approval of the airport by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

This development was disclosed by Air Peace’s spokesperson, Stanley Olisa, in a press statement issued on Saturday.

Olisa said, “This is great news for the people of Anambra State as we are launching four flights weekly into the new airport on Tuesday. For a start, we shall be operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and as operations gather momentum, we shall increase frequencies to daily flights”.

The airline’s spokesman further said that passengers can start booking flights via their website or mobile app. He added that Air Peace plans to connect Anambra to other cities asides from Lagos and Abuja.

“By the end of January 2022, we will have commenced the following connections: Anambra-Kano-Anambra, Anambra-Ibadan-Anambra and Anambra-Port Harcourt-Anambra. Air Peace is unwaveringly determined to interconnect Nigeria, providing connections which facilitate seamless economic exchanges and foster unity.”

What's your take on the highlighted part?
Anambra - Kano will be an excellent route for Airpeace and the Kano/ Anambra traders. It will also boost the huge trade between the two large commercial centers in Anambra and Kano. Moreso, as Airpeace plans to fly from Kano - Niger Republic, Burkina Faso, Chad etc, the Anambra Kano route will support these new routes.

I am not sure Anambra - Port Harcourt will ever make sense. Unless they plan to acquire very small 20 seater propeller planes like the one below. I am not sure NCAA will approve such tiny planes in Nigerian airspace since they banned Fokker types of planes in Nigeria.

Also, Anambra to Ibadan may not be a viable route because of the proximity of Lagos. However, when Air Peace begins international operation from Anambra airport, it might use the airport as a hub for its China and India-bound flights. Thus, it might make sense to get folks from Ibadan and Port Harcourt into a hub to join the triple 7 to China. Else, i don't see how they can profitably operate Anambra-Port Harcourt or Ibadan. Even if the flights are only weekly. Except they do so by acquiring these 12 - 20 seater mini-planes, which the NCAA will likely decline to approve to fly commercially in Nigeria.

The prospects will always be high I was making reference to the post going around accusing the airline of extorting the people of the south east through high ticket pricing. Another challenge is that NCAA approved the airport for only category B aircrafts which will pose a challenge to many operators. Luckily airpeace has a number of ERj 145 aircrafts in this category but they can only convey 50 passengers at once with limited luggage. So Asaba will still be preferred for now till NCAA removes this restriction. Most other airlines do not have aircrafts in this category
United Nigeria operates exclusively only ERJ 145 aircraft and Ibom air and Dana operate Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft which is within the size of aircraft allowed for now.
Awka stadium

The construction of the stadium is in three phases.

The first phase addressed important facilities like track and field, dressing rooms, terraces, changing rooms and the general aesthetics of the stadium. The second phase addressed areas such as the Governor’s Lounge, cubicles for fans and press conference room. The third and final phase, which required temporal closure of the stadium for about six months, handled complete covering of the pavilions.
This is really coming up nicely and of international standard! Many many thanks to Gov. Willie Obiano!!!

Congratulations to Ndi Anambra that finally have a FIFA standard sports facility in the state.

ChimaAdeoye:
The company that did the water system understand what is meant by good finishing to make a project decent. A typical Nigerian company would just drill the boreholes and once they get water pumped into a tank, they will leave the entire surrounding dirty and unkempt like a pig farm. This dude understands that it's not just about getting water pumped into a tank, but making the whole environment decent and lovely to the international standard of a decent environment. Imagine if the terminal building area and other open spaces around the airport are landscaped like the water area where they worked. The whole airport and its immediate environment will totally be transformed to resemble something one would see abroad.

I wish the company that did the water supply systems at the airport are given a landscaping contract to re-grass bare red earth around the runway & taxiway and plant flowers and trees around the terminal building, main gate, etc. Even the landscaping with grass, trees, and flowers at the international convention center should be given to them. One of the biggest challenges of projects done in the southeast is the lack of adequate landscaping which makes them always appear shoddy or below standard.

I am very happy each time I see the water systems section of the Anambra international airport. They made sure that the environment is clean, green, and decent. So one can have some confidence in the water they pump out.
GBAM!

Proper landscaping makes ALL the difference! Landscaping is like polishing a gem to give it its value and beauty. Unfortunately, our people are still miles from realizing the critical importance of landscaping.

If you used the most expensive tiles and marbles for the floor and walls of your house but you fail to clean up the cement and clear the empty cans of paint after a bricklayer or painter has installed your marbles, the tiles and marbles will still look like crap.

That is the sickness I have observed in Nigerian mega projects completed without adequate attention to the landscaping. I have also observed the same in the homes of our rich people in the villages. Where they use exactly the same high-quality marbles used for luxury Abuja or banana island homes, but they allow the marble floor to be dirty, unkempt, and always covered in mud. Thus making their house and the marble look very substandard or fake compared to exactly the same marble used in an Abuja home where it is swept, cleaned, and polished. Landscaping makes ALL the difference in the overall ambiance of any project.
