folksync: "Are we really better than the dead?"
I bet no one living can answer that question.
Most Christians however assume they are better than the dead. And instead of simply thanking God for their lives, they must mock the dead while thanking God. it's insensitive and annoying to me. Imagine how someone who lost a love one recently will feel in the audience |

AwesomeDuru: 90% of Christians don't understand what they pray about..Their prayers are merely repetitive, often consisting of things they have crammed over the years.. I agree with u. But our pastors/reverends should pray in tune with the teachings of Christ |

There is this common statement made in Church or during prayer meetings I feel uncomfortable with. It usually goes like this; ''let us thank God because some people that were here last year are not alive today''. My problem with this statement is that it assumes that we are more fortunate than all those that are dead. But as christians are we not supposed to see the faithfuls departed as the more fortunate ones since they have reunited with God. Are we really better than the dead? |

manmacho: "you make the word of God of no effect because of your tradition" - ask the saduccess and pharisee
Gal. 1:8 My friend, what is the 'word of God'? Was there no word of God before the bible. Read your bible very well and you will find out that Jesus never commissioned the bible, rather, he commissioned the apostles and gave them authority. The authority of the bible arises from apostolic authority. Therefore, as much as the bible has authority, it doesn't have sole authority as the 'word of God'. The traditions of the Church is apostolic since it has been followed by the Apostles and/or their successors. For example, the so called 'white wedding' isn't biblical, it's the Church's tradition. |

I guess that standards for prophethood in Islam is pretty LOW. as much as I admire ur grasp of issues you contribute to, islam in particular, I would luv to know what motivates you. Are u a victim of islamic extremism? |

parisbookaddict: Before we continue the discussion I want to let u know that I regularly criticize some catholic doctrine. I have my bible as my go to authority and I try to get the churches standpoint on key social issues, theology etc
I do know the church has a very high regard for Mary which protestants object to. Early Christians also had a very high regard for Mary. Many Christians don't know this, even some scriptures (not included in the bible) says she was born without original sin.
I don't know much about Our lady of Fatma. What does it have to do with the conversation.
When u say pray islamically, what exactly do u mean.
Islamic pray involves several up and down movements including grasping the ears and thighs and reciting pagan verses.
I haven't seen the pope do that.
By the way how is Christian pray, is it by putting ur hands together, or raised up apart or dancing in joy, or quite in meditation.. Because catholics do all that depending on circumstance. which one did u see the pope do ? as a Catholic, the Bible alone should not be your only 'go to authority' but also the Church's tradition and teachings of the magisterium |

Opukelala: I am surprise that people in Nigeria don't know the differences in name of cities, pls guys shoprite is not in Warri but Uvwie local govt of Delta state even journalist do same mistake. It is time people know the difference. the name of Warri had been highly destroyed by the adjoining local govt. areas and cities, this is a case of such. Most notorious issues about Warri you heard are not commit in Warri but adjoining local govt areas, pls let us be specific. well, Warri and Effurun are two different LGAs but one city because there is no clear demarcation. A visitor to either places will not be able to differentiate between them even if they have lived there for a year. The popular Enerhen junction which was made popular by comedians in d 90s is not even in Warri LGA but in uvwie. |
