The excuse Nigerians give to justify hitting their children is that beating them is the only way to make them morally upright individuals. But take a look at our society and you will see that it is the exact opposite. I believe the most you should ever do is spanking, and after the age of five, there shouldn't be any need for that.
My mum was the cane handler while my dad used his words. I remember my siblings and I telling ourselves, "Is it not just flogging that mummy will flog us?", if we wanted to do something wrong. The only thing that ever made me pause was my dad's disappointment and inevitable lecture.
He will tell you why what you did was wrong and how disappointed he was with you. By the time he was done talking to you, you'll be crying even without any cane touching you.
We need to learn to use our words. Children are human, not animals. |

This is why you don't judge people based on their appearance.
Congrats girl! Keep shining. |

Santa Claus was Saint Nicholas. The name is gotten from Sinter Klaas, the Dutch short form of Sint Nikolaas.
He was a man who loved children and was very kind and generous to them. There's a story that he saved three girls from being sold into slavery or prostitution by their father, by paying their dowry so they could marry.
His day of celebration is December 6th, which is the day he died. I think people just joined it with Christmas since it is so close to Christmas anyway. |

You can call her by her name if she is way younger than you.
My elder brother's girlfriend is my younger sister's age mate, and there is someone I'm older than before her. If my brother marries her, I'm definitely not going to start calling her aunty or sister all of a sudden.
My dad also calls his elder brother's wife by name. I guess it also depends on family dynamics. |

They want her to remain super slim and sexy even after giving birth to 3 kids. They want her to buy her house and her car in their name. They want her to keep quiet and endure when she catches them cheating. They want her to keep quiet and endure domestic violence. They want her to quietly clean them up when they come back home drunk and intoxicated. They want her to always thank them for marrying her where as they are the ones that made the marriage proposal.
Damn, it's not easy being a Nigerian woman right now. You've said it all. Nigerian men nowadays want to eat their cake and have it. They want you to do school runs, go to work, contribute 50% of all expenses, take care of the kids, take care of them, wash, cook, clean, and then at night open your legs and happily satisfy their sexual urges. NwaAmaikpe:

In the sake of peace and good faith, the girl's father should drop this case.
Unless he is devoid of a conscience; he will be forever eaten up with guilt if he is the cause of someone's suicide, I don't want to even talk about the loss of job and untold disgrace it will bring to the policeman's family.
Besides he can't act as 'guardian at litem' because she is not a minor. But I see lots of holes in her claims.
First, who goes downstairs to get better cellular network? You went to his house and he asked you to come back later as he just woke up but you still stayed. It was 1:42pm yet you decided to stay and wait for someone who was to be back at 3pm...and to think you live in this same compound.
Okay, he dragged you and began the deed and you still could not shout. I don't know if it is because one side of my head is paining me but it does not add up to me.
The policeman is somewhat lucky that the girl was already 18years and 2days on the day of this "alleged offence" so this rules out statutory rape.
With a good lawyer or an amicus curiae like myself; the girl's confession to asking him to go get a condom can be interpreted as oral consent and then it automatically changes this case to that of contract of adhesion because he opted for skin-to-skin for his utmost pleasure. Even when he admitted it and said it was the devil's work, even when he sent a message confessing and asking for mercy, you're still doubting the girl. Even when her only fault was being naive. When we are young we say and do things that we later regret. I pray you never have a daughter in this situation, with people doubting her. I pray this doesn't come back to haunt you. |

Let stop these Innuendo racism card that feminist (progressives ) use to arouse sentiments If you had read the whole article you would have seen that they said they die because they are not attended to. And what do feminists have to do with this? If this has happened to someone close to you, you won't be talking like this. |

BRASH: Even without reading the article, I call this a rubbish attempt to further make the black race look inferior. I just hope our black women will not fall for this nonsense. These their research is very contrary to the reality on ground. It's not contrary to the reality on ground. Everyone is just commenting without reading the article. They said they are more likely to die, not because black women are weaker, but because hospitals give white women better care than black women. A white woman may be complaining about some type of pain and they'll take it seriously, but if a black woman complains about the same pain, they'll say she is overreacting. That's why the women are dying. It's not only happening in the UK, but in the US. |

Appreciate your wife and support her when necessary buh don't go overboard ... be guided so she doesnt get entitled or let tinz get into her head, save us all the stress of reading "i opened a new account".
consider it an opinion. @bolded This is not the 1800s when men had to build houses with their hands, plant yams and cassava with their hands and go hunting in the forest. In case you haven't noticed, we are in the 21st century where women go to work alongside men and still come home to take care of the kids and the home. We are basically performing your role and ours at the same time, so that statement was both ignorant and stupid. You guys will never admit that you have it good. |

JSS1, I was only nine years old and to make things worse I looked about seven. I didn't do my maths assignment because I hated maths. To make things worse, more than half the class didn't do theirs so I our teacher was angry. He told us to stand up and be coming out one by one to receive 10 strokes of the cane each, on our bums. My classmates were already shaking, some had already started crying and the cane had not even touched them . It was at this point we knew that we were no longer in primary school. It got to my turn, the man shouted, "Lie down on this table!" He started flogging, one, two, three, four, five. He paused, looked at me. I was not shaking, I was not crying. He continued, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. I got up and calmly walked to my seat. The teacher was shocked, he said, "This small girl you get mind oo." What he didn't know was that my mum was a teacher and a disciplinarian. I done dey chop cane steady since small and there was no place I hadn't been flogged. Is it head, back, hands legs, under the feet? If my mum could see it, her cane could reach it. At least one good thing came out of it because after that day, my rep in class increased. |
