Maeve7: ![]() https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/14834/simple-artichoke-dip/ I’d most definitely add some minced or powdered garlic, black pepper and a pinch of salt. |
wonyi:Thank you. I usually boil in salt water for about 10 mins. When it’s soft but not all the way done, I strain it, add olive oil (so the strands don’t stick to each other) then cover and let the remaining steam finish the job. |
Maeve7:I get Brussel sprouts but Pls give artichokes another try maybe in a dip. |
Maeve7:What’s something you didn’t like at first but ate it anyway? |
Maeve7:Because of the benefits ![]() |
TheWinterBird:Nice. I like seafood omelette Crab. Shrimp. Smoked salmon. All go great with eggs |
Maeve7:Thank you. It took me awhile to get over the texture but I love it now too |
I guess he finally decided to put his personality to use |
Store in a tight container to avoid staleness. It’ll be shelf stable for weeks. And use good grade maple syrup and you’ll get deep rich flavor that’s just not plain sweetness |
Cuppa coffee, Homemade granola and chia seed pudding in oat milk for breakfast. I mixed my granola so I can have the ratios that I prefer and control the sweetness level. Ingredients coconut flakes, dried berries, oats, pumpkin seed mix, cashew nuts and maple syrup for my sweetener. You can mix in however ratio you prefer. Add the syrup and pop in the oven for about 30 minutes on 350 degrees Fahrenheit. I made a full tray, so 30 mins was enough time. But check yours frequently if you’re making more or less. Remove when it’s not sticky anymore. When it’s completely dry some of the red berries will darken. That’s alright. But if you want the bright pop of red colored berries to remain, use freeze dried berries and add them at the end when the out of the oven. Enjoy

Maeve7:2nd one yes I’d like to believe it’s a side effect of my profession but I know some people in the same line of work who are very much “the sky is about to fall” type of people. So I don’t know 🤷🏽♀️ Sia IMO is the best in her genre. She’s very underrated and doesn’t seem to mind. I wonder what I’d feel like to have that kind of power and talent. I’m tagging Ishilove |
Can’t wait. Wondering what distraction he’s going to come up with now. Him and his story telling vice president wannabe |
Maeve7:Oh fun 1 I admire people with a deep sense of justice. Who do not keep quiet and look the other way when something unjust is happening 2. Tough one. I would not call it a superpower but more of a strength. I have grown braver as I’ve got older.. I can go face first into a catastrophic situation without losing my wits. Keep my calm and help others navigate through the situation. Like I have an idea of the worst that can happen and that’s not what’s happening right now so we’ll be okay. 3. 100 percent I’d be 5 inches taller. I admire tall women 4. Sia 5. If they feel like home, they’re the one |
kkins25:Oh interesting I usually don’t know people’s alternate monikers like that |
budaatum:🤭 |
budaatum:I gave up ![]() |
StillDtruth:Sincerely speaking, you’re the one making it what it’s not. |
StillDtruth:Pls we do not tolerate Gloriousgbola slander around here |
StillDtruth:Kai this man. Okay well start from hugs if kissing is too much for you and work your way up. |
StillDtruth:okay. No wahala. Do me a favor and give your son/s one big forehead kiss today. Just once. Watch their reaction (they’ll probably be very happy) and examine how it makes you feel. I promise you that you’ll have a testimony 😌. Don’t forget to share the testimony with us on this thread |
Good for her. Congratulations to her lagostrendboy: |
You’re speaking for me too Unexpected forehead kisses give warm and fuzzy feels. Klass99: |
budaatum:I’ve not met this person on here before. At least I don’t recall. You’re saying there no hope of changing his mind? |
StillDtruth:Yes that’s specifically what I said. You said children and you already know that the boy child is always left out.I specifically said sons. And already my children cherish i and their mother because of the life saving and life giving giving values we teach which I am happy to see them able to deal with every and any devil, anywhere and i am happy to die knowing that they beat all the stupidities and curses of the world which people have. That’s awesome. I’m happy for you and them. I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with not kissing them. But they’ll appreciate if you do. It’s a bloody waste kissing your kids and they turn out to be whorrs, drug dealers, thieves, smokers, cultist, drunkards and dishonorable people living with many Curses.Well you can only do your best. It’s actually more likely for kids who are denied emotionally connections with their parents who end up seeking it in outsiders and end up in the den of wolves who take them down these parts. You’re not mandated to kiss your kids but don’t deny them a well rounded emotionally balanced relationship with you |
LordReed: budaatum:I don’t blame him specifically because men are often socialized to abhor any show of emotions. Some people really believe that and internalize to the point of shunning emotional connections with their children. But times are changing and I know he’ll come around. Right StillDtruth? |
Fathers should kiss their 10 year old sons too. Kiss them even when they’re older. Stop living in a mental prison that you built for yourself. Hug and kiss your children and tell them you love them. No matter how old they are. One day you’ll die and those are some of the most tangible parts of you they’ll have with them when you’re gone. How beautiful are these images? StillDtruth:

LordReed:👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 |
Or other Africans Doesn’t necessarily have to be Nigerian. I wasn’t lucky to have a lot of Nigerians around me when I first migrated but some of my African friends I made are still friends for life. You’ll find we have similarities with them and it’s not marred by tribalism or any of the other issues we normally deal with amongst ourselves armyofone: |
IbeOkehie:I believe you. However, It’s normal now for RNs (not all) to make that so it’s kinda poor for an NP. I can see how a low stress clinic job type NP might be okay making that. Soft cushy office job. Lower stress for less money. And I’m not talking of Covid. We know those were different times long long gone. As for becoming a registered nurse, in my city a student can do all the prerequisites in High School and graduate as a Nurse Assistant...a few Nigerian kids have done it. From there to Community College for 2 years and they get Associate Degreee. With that they can take the license exam and become an RN.okay gotcha. Makes sense but I thought we were talking about immigrants. Of course it’s not going to be the same for a kid growing up here and having all their precerts already recognized by the colleges. An immigrant will most likely have to retake those classes hence the additional year. Besides there's so many commercial minded for-profit schools that make anyone an RN in a year. Yeah it's extreme but dem dey.Wonders. But where do they even do fit clinicals in that one year? To graduate from a reputable recognized school, one needs clinicals for pediatrics, obstetrics, medical surgical, mental health, emergency/critical care and acute care. I’m sure these schools exist but they are cracking down on them hard. Like that scandal that happened last year with the Florida school that was giving degrees to immigrants. They probably heard it was easy to become a nurse. Only to find out it wasn’t. So, then they resorted to buying their degrees from the degree mills schools like that one. They’re on them now like white on rice. States like California and Washington won’t even give you a license if your degree doesn’t satisfy their requirements. You’ll have to go back to school. Pardon my long post but I want people to know what they are getting into if they choose to go that route. Just cos they know someone who did it doesn’t mean it’s easy breezy. And oh yea weird as it sounds to you, people look down on nursing as a career. Even the ones who haven’t passed a math class without cheating before. They couldn’t even explain a simple physiological principle if their life depended on it but here we are. Stick around a little you’ll see them |
It’s so interesting to me how nursing salaries are always on the discussion boards on nairaland. Anyone with a masters degree in nursing making $130k/yr is being cheated. They need to leave that place. I’ve to correct something about the timeline though. No one is coming in from not having any prequalifications/precerts and is able to get their RN in 2 years. The basic course is 2 years but prerequisites are mandatory and can take any number of years depending on how determined the student is. Usually 1 year minimum for that. Then the 2 years of the associates and then another 1-2 years for bachelors . So total of 4-6 years actually from prerequisites to BSN. And yes anyone can become a nurse if they’re determined enough and they can do so much with it. Bedside is only a fragment of the experience. Even if you don’t like to provide direct care to patients (or packing of shit) like our darling nairalanders love to describe it one can become a Research nurse Aesthetics nurse Telephone triage nurse Nurse educator Legal Nurse Consultant Forensic nurse Health informatics nurse Risk management nurse Public Health Nurse (cdc has many openings now) Nurse administrator Telehealth Nurse Nurse Recruiter Occupational health nurse Case Manager Flight nurse The list is endless. Virtually any big organization with a health department can employ a nurse. IbeOkehie: |
armyofone:It’s the length of time to get the license once you’re actually in the program that makes it attractive time wise. But it’s not easy to get through at all. And most hospitals require you to have the BSN within 2-5 years of hire which means that to continue working, you have to keep honor the contract and get the BSN. Prior to getting in though, you might have to go through one year or a few years of prerequisites depending on how quick and dedicated you are. Math, anatomy, organic chemistry, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology etc and bunch of social science courses as well that aren’t part of the program but are required in order for one to even understand the discussions that happen in the nursing classrooms. |
descarado:Take care of yourself Biko. Listen to your manager Job will be there when you come back from vacation. |
