You must be drunk.

When you talk about the govt and politicians being bad it’s okay. When I do it, I’m castigating Nigeria. Is it not winch that’s worrying you like this?

What makes it different when I say it versus when you say it? Because I checked and your post history is littered with posts of you saying the negative things the govt does. So when I say the same I’m feeling as if I’m better?.

This is called projection. Likely caused by low self esteem and you have to figure out where that’s coming from because I don’t know you and I don’t remember coming across you before now.

Also I never used the word envy.

Say how you feel but don’t accuse me of saying that’s how you feel. The topic wasn’t even about me but about doctors. How you maneuvered into me, my husband, my job, your job and bla bla bla is definitely an Olympic worthy accomplishment but that’s your personal problem. Not mine.

I can criticize the govt. it’s my govt too. And anyone who supports their oppressive policies will be criticized too. It’s not personal
Focus on the topic pls

hosemujica:
This is about to get worse, I want the modes looking at this to get to the genesis of this whole thing. You mentioned me first which was not a problem but ending with insult , I can’t let slide.

You obviously eat through your ass, if not you would have known that “ envy “ or suggesting that I’m encouraging the government to subjugate anyone is an insult and that will anger anyone who obviously is comfortable in their own skin.

Stop castigating Nigeria on Nairaland every country has her own issues. Again you are not better than anyone cause you live in US or have more money that them, we all breath the same air . Get that into your head.

Your obvious low self esteem is not my problem.

It’s funny when you lame people want to brag, you claim that others are bragging and then use that excuse to brag.

No one asked you what your life is like. I have not told you anything about me. We’re talking about doctors and I’m not a doctor.

So between both of us, I’m sticking to the topic and you are looking for an excuse to brag. In a childish low IQ manner for that matter.

On a side note, do sick people in Nigeria not get appropriate care? Do the healthcare workers over there let them sit in their filth? Because I’ve seen one too many posts of Nairalanders using “wiping ass” as an insult.

Are the healthcare workers in Nigeria exempt from this practice or do you guys only see it as insulting when American healthcare workers do it?

The fact that you’re too dumb to even know that USA doesn’t accept Nigerian medical and nursing degrees, therefore most people have to get their education here or in other countries accepted by the USA shows you’re conversing above your league. Just talking to talk.

So much for smartness.

When you speak, your bad belle oozes.
hosemujica:
I’m a Marine Pilot and now work for NIgeria Ports Authority. Nigeria trained me and I have been giving back, I also have over 30 pilots under my mentorship presently.

I have been to 20 countries of the world and I have also gotten job offers that I rejected. I pity the man that married you because you are one of those village ngbeke feminist that thinks because they are making some change as a nurse now they have arrived. Listen ,I visit United States all the time and I leave when I’m due, nothing enticing.

Indian ladies make upwards of $700k a year working in tech. Yet they are not online bragging or being disrespectful to their husbands, I know your type. For the records go and find out how smart you have to be to become a marine pilot, ( thank God for subsidized Nigerian eduction and scholarships )if not my poor ass then could not have afforded it.

For your information my mates who are practicing in US earn at least $300k per annum. I know this will shock you because ngbeke feeling funky like you don’t know cause you are busy wiping old lady Betty’s ass.

Even with how much they earn my house in a choice area in Nigeria is worth more than their mortgages ( yes we have done that calculation in the past) after taxes these guys cry home with the little change left and yet a lot of them were smarty pants as such have no student loans let alone American graduates drowning in loans.

The fact that you got cheap education in Nigeria and don’t have loans to deal with doesn’t mean that’s not the reality of most Americans. But even with your loans my house still worth more than your mortgage regardless of forex situation.

The only area you are better than me is that you have gmo orange juice in your power grid provided electricity, while I have organic juice in my solar powered fridge.

Again, your smartness will never stand side by side with mine, in fact it’s genetic as my nephew scored the most in jamb in my state.

Again get off your high horses, there will be no US if people weren’t patriotic. I see wounded soldiers all over US when I visit , idiuts like you will laugh and ask why they went to war. That’s patriotism, you don’t have it for US or Nigeria so please crawl into your hole and never come out again .

You have nothing that someone like me should envy ,you are just a serial manipulator looking for the next government to blackmail with your poverty mentality . Take that away from me I’m worth more than you today, tomorrow and forever.

We are talking about patriotism and humanity you know nothing about any of those, so shut up and face your husband if you have any respect for him

A lot of Americans don’t have up to $25 in their account take that to your cave hediot

You are not in heaven your shit stinks like skunk , the fact that you ran to the US does not make us building Nigeria useless . We are here building the country piece by piece, everyone with one sense in their head knows that student loan is a big problem in the United States. And who told you the hospital I took the patient has no amenities? .

The entire population my ass ,when last did you ask the government to treat teachers and lecturers better than the conditions they are now ? Selfish slowpoke like you. Running abroad to clean a white man’s ass is patriotic but staying in Nigeria to help the needy is slavery ?

American healthcare is not even the best in the world get your high horses with your slave mentality , you are not better than anyone living in US some of us have a better life in Nigeria than you can ever dream of the US stop fooling yourself.

I did not bother you one bit . You idiot quoted me first , and I’m trying to correct your healthcare dormant brain and you are writing all these American feminist garbage. You can talk to your useless husband who (you helped migrate ) that way. Don’t jump into my comment and tell me what the heck to do .
Thanks for confirming it’s bad belle that’s the underbelly of why you guys are asking doctors to be held hostage. It didn’t take long before it came spilling out. Pretending like you care about the country when you just hate the fact that they can migrate and earn better wages elsewhere. If you’re so pressed, go to medical school yourself and pay the so called subsidized wage so that you can save the country.

Am I supposed to be ashamed that my husband helped me migrate ? If he didn’t do it for me was it you that he should have done it for? grin the brainlessness is astounding.

If your brain is functioning, go to medical school, pay the so called low tuition you’re championing and start healing people in your community. Bad belle.

The fact that you even know we can’t maintain infrastructure and our politicians are the real problem in this country but you want doctors to be held hostage so that you can have someone to serve you shows the level of wickedness in your heart.

P.S no one asked you what your life is like. Last I checked there are a lot of billionaires in Nigeria .
You could very well be the chief of your billionaires association. But that’s not what the topic is about is it?

Some of you can’t wait for the opportunity to the people you perceive to be living abroad how much better your lives are when no one asked. The projection is wild.

Just wearing low self esteem like a hat. Pathetic

If I get another of these brain dead comments I’m going to pull my hair

Medical education costs $200k and they earn more than that a year.

How is Nigerian education cheap if the doctors don’t earn more than they spent on their education in a year?

By whose standard is Nigerian education cheap? By American standards? If so why aren’t we comparing American wages to Nigerian wages?

I’m over this senselessness

Y’all so dense. No wonder the govt treats you the way they do. They know you won’t actually hold your oppressors responsible.

If you found a doctor in the building that day you took someone to the hospital and there was no electricity, no oxygen, no equipment nothing what’s the doctor supposed to do? Work magic?

Many of them practicing in public hospitals after a while forget some of the things they learned in school because the system doesn’t support continuous education, innovation, research and many of professional development programs that their counterparts abroad get.

The system needs to be fixed. Holding the doctors/nurses hostage will never be the solution
hosemujica:
Medical education in the United States cost upwards of $200k . Doctors without specialized field graduate with average of 200k in student loans, and anyone reading this that have dealt with student loans in the United Stated knows what a burden this is , in fact if you are not careful the interest will exceed the loans and grind your financial life to a halt.

This is part of the reason some Americans have decided to stay away from medical field .which have paved way for people like you who migrate with medical degree they got with little or nothing ifrom Nigeria .

For the benefit of those reading this, there is no doubt that education in Nigeria is highly subsidized, even more so with medical education. Besides, UNESCO and WHO have categorized health as humanitarian crises in Africa hence the aid and grants they send to this countries for medical education. Their intention is that these people graduate and have compassion toward their compatriots by practicing in the country.

No one is saying live your whole life in Nigeria, all we are saying is that for the country that have given you such cheap education, pls give something back ,and if you don’t want to, then pay for your education yourself . And if you want a good idea of how much it will cost ? Ask a Covenant university graduate ( at least no one will ask a Covenant university graduate to stay back cause he paid in full for his or her education.

In 2019 a guy had a medical emergency, took him to the hospital and there was no doctor present and he died in my car meanwhile over 400 thousand doctors trained with government subsidy are practicing in UK. And here you are telling me about how to help the entire population? What other help does a population need if not saving their lives when they are dying untimely ?

Listen lady , we found ourselves in a country where all discussions and essence of living is centered around money and wealth . If not , begging a doctor or mandating them to stay a number of years and give back to the society is not even a morally acceptable discussion to have, when doctors from western countries go to Africa to help all the time without being paid.

United Stated also does that by canceling your student loans if you are willing to work in certain areas as a volunteer health worker ,no one is forcing you , but if you are not interested $200k in student loans ( interest not included ) is looking into your eye balls.

Unfortunately we found ourselves in a country where the government has no clue on how to make things work. I’m not a fan of Tinubu, but why make student loan available to Nigerians instead of giving them additional grants and attach conditions to it , like United States does with student loans. Example;

1.Medical students should take the grants and serve a number of years before they move on ,

2. No one is forcing you to take the grants, go to the next office and pay your full ( fool) tuition devoid of tax payers grants if you don’t want to serve after graduation.

NYSC worked for goodness sake, this can work too.

Abeg for those reading this how complicated can this be?

Cool, in addition let those who sign agreement to work in Nigeria for 10 years after graduation get the loan and those who refuse to sign, pay the actual price of medical education which should be at least 30million naira.
30 million naira is 18 thousand dollars.. so approximately $220k a year.

Many many doctors (not residents) easily earn $200-$250k a year without specializations in high paying specialties. When they specialize they easily make double that. With your math, they already make more than 30 million monthly doing their basic job. Heck Some nurses (not majority) make that in a month in high paying states.

You cannot hold them back by proposing what you believe is huge financial chains to hold them. Shows you guys still don’t understand what y’all’s problem is.

Just going around proposing wickedness as solution instead of thinking how can the whole population be helped?

They don't saddle doctors with loans as a way of retaining them. That's smooth brained thinking. Everyone has loans in the usa. Everyone.

Nigerians won't take the loans, they'll send their children away from your broken country. You'll end up with even less doctors.

Stop trying to solve problems backwards.
Ordinary 500k base salary is enough to increase retention rate in this country. Yet you're here talking of saddling them with loans.
Same kind of thinking as your smooth-brain leaders

You can’t make a moot point and say that I don’t get the point.

You can’t consider the education in Nigeria subsidized when the average income in Nigeria is not enough to support the basic standard of living. The education is not subsidized. It would be considered subsidized if they pay so little and graduate to earn tons of money from the same govt.

You’re comparing yourselves to the UK and calling it a subsidized rate when your income compared to the UK is less than subsidized. More like paltry .

Whatever the govt like let them do, it doesn’t change the fact that they are filled with selfish demonic kleptocrats

SmartPolician:
You don't even get the point. The point is simple: The UK is turning to Nigeria to source health experts because it's expensive for their people to study, thus resulting in massive labour shortages in their country.

Since medical doctors have gone through subsidized education in Nigeria and intend to move to a country where they will earn huge sums, they have to compensate the government. This is why I mentioned 80m in tuition. The government is already working on my submission and health students will be made to sign the bond soon. So, this conversation is utterly unnecessary.
Health › Re: 67% Of Nigerian Doctors Practice In UK, NHS Will Struggle If They Leave–minister by cococandy(f): 4:27pm On Aug 14, 2024
They pay 80 million per annum in tuition and earn 80 million per annum or more.

Nigerian medical students pay millions and earn pittance
What are you not getting?

If you’re going to compare cost, compare the reward too. If not you’re not making sense. Talking about someone being emotional when you can’t even apply this simple logic to the conversation.

I’m tired of people who don’t make sense trying to say others are emotional when they’re the ones not making sense

SmartPolician:
The reason is simply that medicine and its related studies are the world's most expensive courses. In schools like Oxford and Cambridge, you pay about 80 million per annum for the courses. In contrast, in Nigerian universities, it's extremely cheap.

Why the UK government is rushing Nigerian health experts is that their people aren't so interested in studying the course because it's extremely expensive (even for the citizens who pay lesser) while Nigerian practitioners are desperate to leave the country for greener pastures.

If health experts continue to leave this country in droves, Nigeria will be in a big mess. You people are just being emotional; Nigerians will still be the ones to complain that there are no doctors in hospitals when all those folks leave.

BTW, I didn't say they cannot leave. You can only leave after practicing here and it only applies to those who attended public universities.
Health › Re: 67% Of Nigerian Doctors Practice In UK, NHS Will Struggle If They Leave–minister by cococandy(f): 4:12pm On Aug 14, 2024
I don’t need to go and find out. I know what I’m talking about.

The money medical and nursing students pay abroad for schooling is commensurate to their income abroad.

The money medical and nursing students pay in Nigeria is far above the guguru money they earn in Nigeria.

What are you not getting?
APCNig:
Go and find out how much medical and nursing students pay abroad and compare to the guguru money they pay here as a result of Nigeria's government funding of their education.

You are comparing education for medical students to that of bankers, do bankers use expensive equipment for training? Do Accountants use expensive equipment for training? No vex me there, so that I will not go and double-cross you under Oshodi bridge and hand you over to my boys there to whip you mercilessly
Health › Re: 67% Of Nigerian Doctors Practice In UK, NHS Will Struggle If They Leave–minister by cococandy(f): 4:04pm On Aug 14, 2024
A typical non specialized medical doctor in the USA on average earns around $300k a year.

Their schooling costs around $300k for the whole program.

Wouldn’t you say it’s fair for Nigerian doctors to pay exactly the value of their annual salary for the whole duration of their training?

What we have are medical student who pay millions of naira throughout their education and end up earning peanuts. Why are you comparing the cost of training abroad to the cost of training in Nigeria when the income is unequal.

Where’s your common sense?
APCNig:
Let the doctors continue running abroad, let them go with all their nuclear, extended and compound family members, if not it is native doctors that will treat their family members left here. Very selfish vagabonds. Nigeria spends millions of Naira to train them, yet they cannot serve Nigeria. Go and find out how much international and even local medical students pay per year in UK and USA, then you will know that our government is not useless in all categories
Health › Re: 67% Of Nigerian Doctors Practice In UK, NHS Will Struggle If They Leave–minister by cococandy(f): 4:01pm On Aug 14, 2024
SmartPolician:
I think what Nigeria needs is to allow health workers who finished from public institutions to leave Nigeria after practicing in Nigeria for at least 5 years.

However, they have to pay the Nigerian government an annual support fee of $5k for 5 years. This will go into funding more schools of health across the country, improving their research, improving the working conditions of health workers who still work in Nigeria and increasing the number of such schools across the country. It's a 50-50 deal.
Why? What do they owe you?

Why can’t this be applied to other professions such as banking, engineering, computer sciences etc

Afterall other countries are far more developed than Nigeria in these aspects and a lot of Nigerians abroad also contribute to the infrastructural development of their host nations.

Why can’t Nigeria then tax all professionals leaving the country?

When you people speak from the depth of your bad belle it shows
