If the laptop works well, paying 50k for it is a good deal

Codedboy95:
A 2015 MacBook pro 16gb ram, 1tb ssd with dual monitors.

Things have changed since this, upgraded to Macbook M1 PRO 14” and got a Nuphy Air75 Mechanical keyboard

nice one op, you are getting yourself cheated by sending the money directly to your naira account, you should send it to your dorm account or open a payoneer account, you get more naira for your dollar that way

nettwrock:
Are you still in need of laravel dev... I just finished a payment platform with laravel and would love to share with you thanks. RSVP

Are you still available? send me an email me@thani.pro

Uncharted56:
Why don't we implement a leaderboard here on nairaland, it'll be fun to setup and cool if seun does this and adds things like ranks, languages proficiency to people's profiles in the form of flairs that would enable alot of us to skill up and probably create employment opportunities in forseeable future.

how will ranks and language proficiency be determined? daily challenge? I don't see him implementing this any time soon. unless someone takes it as a duty to create a thread for challenges.

Nickisindigo:
Do I need to have my internet on

you don't have to, it sync immediately your internet comes on

Some months ago, I created a thread asking devs how long day code for per day, Last week I decided to create a daily coding leaderboard on waka time (link in my bio )

Leviack:
Good evening. I'm currently working on a project that involves audio upload. The website is hosted on heroku, based on my findings I discovered that it is advisable to use another platform for the file storage(e.g cloudinary, etc). Which platform do you use for your storage. I'll appreciate your view. karleb Codedboy95

I have used Aws s3 and backblaze in production, just like karleb said, laravel offers easy integration with AWS S3.

What are your thoughts regarding this niche of a thing particularly for someone that wants to break into DevOps? And how favorable do you think the freelance will be to such a person?

Qtguru, Codedboy95, Stanliwise your opinions are also needed

DevOps is hotcake right now, if you are interested in it, go for it.

Vicky2k:
why do some jobs require higher connects to apply like 6 or 4 while some others are just 2 or 1

DrLevi:
To filter out unserious freelancers as 6 connects is a lot, so anyone willing to spend that much knows what he or she is doing and know they're worth it.

No, it depends on the job budget, timeline and category. those 3 factors are the determinant of how many connects the job will cost you

Anyone know when next Ontario tech draw will hold? It used to be every two months

qtguru:
Nobody is commenting here anymore, I am working on creating weekly videos for Upwork gigs advice, hope to share more, but gigs on Upworks are constant, my client decided to pay extra for more port. I will teach Chrome Extensions later on. take care all

Nice work, keeping the thread active

Aremu01:
Hello all?

Pls can my proof of fund be a dorm account with USD denomination?

Yes

How much does your current job pay you? if it's close to £4k, I would stay with the current company since you said you love your team ( and company culture). It gets to a stage when it's not all about money. but if the salary difference will do a lot for you then just go with the new company.

wickedmmm:
What language do you code?

I code mainly in PHP, I am slowly moving away from PHP and embracing python and typescript

africanman85:
How do u guys maintain steady power supply?

for me, Light at my place is fairly good, I support it with a luminous inverter with 220ah battery. most times before the battery goes down, the electricity comes back on.

SageX1444:
The hanger you used to suspend them?

I got it 30k from a seller on jiji

chatinent:
Airtime. (I know why).

Tell us why

DrLevi:

I don't think 2 step verification has anything to do with profile completeness

It does, try adding the two in the picture below and see if it gets your profile to 100

As a software engineer / developer you get a new laptop, what are the applications / tools you would install first? what are the applications you almost can't do without everyday as a developer?

Mine in no particular order:
Chrome ( Obviously)
PHPStorm, Pycharm (as a jetbrains fanboy)
Vscode ( for Javascript / Typescript projects)
Slack, Skype ( you know why)
Sourcetree ( Git Gui)
Sequel Ace ( Database management app)
Notion, Clickup ( Project management, Docs)
Postman ( Api development)

Others:
Docker
Proxyman

Over to you

jackest1:
Linked github, stackoverflow and twitter
Still 95

done two step verification too?

jackest1:
Hey guys

Do i need video introduction to get 100% profile complete

No you don't, link your social account if you haven't

dodgelord:
Any solution for my pitfall

I tried getting my ip address using server global function remote addr but this is wat i getting.

Different ip that is not the same with my phone ip.

Photo below

This is my website to see the error

Advisedlyremove

What remote addr shows is your public addresss which is provided by your Mobile operators/ISPs. There is no way to get your phone private ip address in php, head over to whatismyipaddress. com you will see that it grabs same IP address as your php code.

Boss can u please mentor me in my web development journey... I already know HTML nd CSS

I don't have the time , also you don't really need a mentor. these days, there are a lot of resources to help your journey.
