F dhtml18: I quite agree with you, I was merely comparing the two designs like the OP requested. I was not criticizing like that from a programmer's perspective. True that |

AlphaCentauri: now that sounds exciting. Do not go and task your developer uneccesarily, if your software is not to be commercialized. You sounded as if the app is just for your own use, so leave it as it is, if it serves you |

AlphaCentauri: is it possible to have a wheel shaped window where several windows pop out when you click buttons cuz i like the effect of multiple windows ? Of course, even the pop up windows will be wheel-shaped, having the zodiac symbol and then enter your inputs for whatever calculations.. Everything is possible |
Tech Jobs › Re: What Would You Do ? So I Sourced Out A Programming Job For 30,000 Naira by CodeHouse: 7:13pm On Apr 28, 2016 |
AlphaCentauri: lol yeah i know it is basic. got it free on the net but inside it has the data position of all the celestial bodies for the next 50 years so while the interface is basic, the purpose is huge. now this is one of the ones i will need to improve on. this is one of the projects for the future. Now you see, even this one you love so much used a wheel layout design, and to let you know that I havent even seen such before I suggested that jelo4kul could use a wheel-shaped window |

FincoApps: It's just a simple program and not a game.... Why are you guys killing each other over UI.
If you follow the rules, you would know that most apps in a particular category can just go with the native UI of the OS. If you are designing something like a game or other complex apps then there might be need to use custom UI just like CodeHouse suggested. But CodeHouse, that UI is completely unnecessary for this kind of app You mean the wheel sample i posted? The link I posted is not suggestion or substitute to the OPs original design, I posted that to let him know that when I talk about design, I know what im saying.. Of course the app does not worth all these too much talk.. That was why I tried not to comment further, check my previous comments |

AlphaCentauri: its very nice and looks good. but it looks like ( i may be wrong ) it is too sophisticated for my need, keep in mind this program was created for only ONE need and nothing more. its just to convert one time format to another. thats all its needed for. that your interface looks like it will suit a program with multiple purpose, and i may be wrong and i am sure you will correct me if i am wrong Dont get me wrong, I have not shown you that link as a substitute to what jelo4kul has done, NO! In fact he has done a good job, I showed you that link so that you will know that I know what I am saying. ... And like you said, your project is not anything complex, it should stay the way it is. |

AlphaCentauri: nah dude nobody is playing with you. its not enough to criticize, show us what can be done to improve. I dont see the need, you have all you need already, I take all my words and comments back, the app does not need improvement, it is in fact at this moment a legacy or gold app |
Tech Jobs › Re: What Would You Do ? So I Sourced Out A Programming Job For 30,000 Naira by CodeHouse: 6:17pm On Apr 28, 2016 |
Stconvict: I thought I was the only one realizing that. Jelo is someone I know. However, that won't stop me from expressing my mind. The GUI is not all that interesting or particularly consistent. Maybe that is what the client wants. But this is definitely not exceptional. I have decided not to talk more on this as the OP seem to be "playing with me".. and if even one decided to use the rectangular window shape for this app, there is still a need for good colour combination, layout, choice of buttons, object arrangements, etc |

AlphaCentauri: lolz brah i know you aint competing, i was actually trying to see if you would come up with something mindblowing so that it will give me an idea as to what to upgrade to if i get bored with this interface and i need my guy jelo4kul to upgrade me in the future to it. i was rooting for you. or i could get jelo4kul to make me an extra program with the killer interface you came up with and just use that as a backup program. so yeah i wasnt saying you were competing. you got us all intrigued when you came out saying both were not good and got us anticipating what you were going to come up with. like if you got any mind blowing ideas please share. we are all learning from each other Ufffff! I do not want this topic to go beyond page 1, it does not worth it at all, trust me I dont want to waste your precious time with my worthless comment. So I totally agree with you Thanks |

AlphaCentauri: sounds alright but i dont think it tops what he already did. the way you made your first comment i thought you were going to come out with some mind blowing idea that would dazzle. i am sure you have more ideas though Laughs.. I am not competing, I didnt upload a sample below my comment, my comment was that the developer could also use a round window instead of the usual rectangular native window and I uploaded a sample to show what I meant. You told the OP what to do, and he has done it exactly the way you wanted it, im sure you dont need further upgrade. Of course, adding the zodiac names isnt much of a problem, and talking about other ideas... if you want it to link with google earth constelation, calculating a date of assenssion, etc |

AlphaCentauri: so on that chart where is the place that you will enter the values of the zodiac sign you want calculated ? and where are the names of the symbols ? like do i have to memorize the symbols to know which house is which and what if i press the wrong symbol ? will the result tell me for which house i calculated ? i think you will need to come up with a more elaborate wheel than that one you put up there. When you move your mouse over a symbol, it shows the name and of course this is just a sample to show the developer what I meant, so names can be shown explicitely too, degree, minutes and seconds with corresponding zero values are fields where you type your values.. The result is displayed on the Time Field...The sample I put up there is elaborate The input values could also come from wherever you have instructed the developer, assuming degree, minutes, seconds and time are outputs |

Jelo4kul: Good evening codeHouse.
Can you show me some examples.
Would be really appreciated here is what im saying... you also do not need the calculate button, let it be such that when user clicks on the zodiac sign, it calculates based on the sign clicked

Jelo4kul: AlphaCentauri Thanks slot.
To all Nairaland programmers that believe that getting the equivalent payment for their programs is not possible in Nigeria. Am here to bring news. That myth isn't true. AlphaCentauri, paid immediately he tested my program(the first 7 pics above) and it was working perfectly. When I mean he paid immediately, just believe me. I can tell you that any project he gives you, as long as it's done correctly, you would get the money equivalent of your program, and even be paid for your effort if you didn't get it correctly.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALPHACENTAURI. The functionality of your program meets the OPs criteria, I would say not all applications should have the native rectangular window shape, it would have been better to custom a round window shape and blend the colours of the icons to form a colour wheel, in all good work |
