What we lack is discipline. You also need to consider what's called "comparative advantage" in economics. I give you what you don't have and in which i can do better, and you do the same to me. A country doesn't have to export most things to develop. No! There's so much corruption in the land. I've been to most parts of the EU countries. Many wish they had one quarter of what we had. They import much more than they export yet, their GDP is way higher than ours. You sourced for loans for developmental projects on which interests will be paid and eventually, you paid the capital from your foreign exchange earnings(e.g, crude). You got the loan and awarded contracts to your cronies and proxies at 3 times higher than the actual contract sum. Most parts of the jobs weren't done and the money ended in your pockets. By the time the loan was liquidated, nothing was left to move the country forward in all spheres. That's the way Nigeria is being run by the government of the day.

Visit Czech Republic, Hungary,Iceland, Poland, Ireland, and other poor eastern European countries. They call themselves poor but their GDP is way higher than ours. They import much more than they export.

When you vote the right candidate into power, someone who has no interest in dragging business with business owners but willing to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, Nigeria will experience true development. Only through this can we grow an export-driven economy. When last has the federal government looked into cocoa, cola, cotton,coffee and other agricultural produce? What of loans to local farmers. Bank of agriculture is gone moribund. Agric used to be our strength before the advent of oil. When they want to give out loan to farmers, they deliberately boycott BOA and give governors in every state to share. They'd eat 90% of it and the real farmers don't see anything.

Amazingly, these produce are even more needed now than ever, globally. We could see what PA Awo did with agricultural produce, the north was rich in cotton. Our steel was working. My grandpa's house was built with steel from ajaokuta back in the days when they first started, before it was shut down. There was a railway built up to itakpe , conveying ores. What has changed? The answer is simple...indiscipline cum corruption. Politicians would come to you, they tell you things they can't achieve in a decade and you can't ask questions. Someone came and said he built an entire city/state and you fell for his lies, maybe out of bigotry and you got stuck as he doesn't care about your existence now that he's in power . Who's to blame? The same person awarded contacts to his company he's operating by proxy but can you do anything?

In conclusion, being export driven is a panacea to every country's economic growth but not the actual factor affecting us as a nation. Even if you're the world largest exporter but your leaders lack discipline, those who export less will be better than you. New Zealand and Australia put together import 5 times more than what we import and export far less, yet they're much more developed with better GDP, why? You can answer that. With good leaders in place who truly means well for Nigeria, we will attain our full potentials but are you ready? Aren't you still blinded by tribalism or bigotry? In china, if you steal government or public funds,it's execution. Here, after a few media trials, they'd leave them alone and if they now join the ruling party, their sins are forgiven.

We're just suffering in the midst of plenty, needlessly. A prime minister of a developed nation was seen boarding a commercial plane last year cos his jet was not functional. Can tinubu do that? He had 3 private jets before becoming president. What if he channeled cost of 2 jets into agriculture in Lagos and employed people in his farms? How many manufacturing or thriving businesses does he have? These are the issues we deliberately set aside. See what they spent on building a VP's residence? Every leader just comes, eats and leaves without any meaningful programme in place. All we see is propaganda and lies. Had the 2bn USD spent on PHC refineries TAM, which has now been shut down, been channeled into agriculture, we won't be importing most of the agricultural needs in a few years to come rather, we'll be exporting them. It's a shame to note that Nigerian industries now import cassava starch because local suppliers can't meet up. Our leaders don't even feel ashamed of lying anymore cos they know you're still sleeping. Wake up!

Awo's agriculture is still there.. the north still produces cotton but it gets cancelled out and rubbished due to the hyper importation mentality of i_g_b_0_s.

1. If you are financially stable and really want to have healthy children with your wife in the future, then you must sign-up for preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) whenever you want a child. Do not have much children because this process isn't cheap. So maybe 2 children.

2. If you are not financially stable but you want children, then father from outside and bring it home. Also make sure your wife truly understands the situation at hand and agrees to your plan.

DO NOT DIVORCE YOUR WIFE OR MAKE HER PAY FOR WHAT SHE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT. DO NOT TAKE A SECOND WIFE.

As for your son, love him. Just love him. Love will keep him with you for long. But please, do not act in faith and impregnate the mother again or without proper medical counselling and PGD.

India is a Hindu nation. It was conquered by Muslim warlords. About 20% of the population converted to Islam.

The British came later and conquered India and took over from the Muslim rulers. About 3% of the population converted to Christianity.

Muslims conquered parts of Nigeria and then were followed by the British who colonized everyone. And basically everyone , perhaps over 99% of people in the country abandoned their Native religions and converted to Islam and Christianity. Wole Soyinka is probably the only prominent Nigerian that publicly espouses his Native Religion, in his case Ifa.

She is always full of praise for how the British built and maintained good schools in Nigeria and I'm always telling her they built or provided little infrastructure or services.

My mother was a lucky person with very aspirational parents that got the opportunity. She attended a famous Teaching College before independence. The school still exists today, but it's run down and dilapidated. That's one of the few things the UK built in Nigeria and we couldn't even maintain it.

2) A well informed fellow would know about the Lancaster House negotiations. I've already recounted the history in previous posts.

The British sponsored pre-independence negotiations for all parties in many of their colonies. They were mostly held at the Lancaster House. The ground rule was that all major decisions had to be unanimous.

Indians held their own and decided to split into two countries because Muslims and Hindus couldn't get along. That's how Pakistan got to become an independent nation.

Malaysia held theirs and the Malay tribe and Chinese tribes decided they couldn't get along. They split into Malaysia and a new country called Singapore.

Nigeria held it's own Lancaster Conference.

*Awolowo and the Yoruba wanted a SECESSION CLAUSE put into the Constitution.

*The Sarduana and the North wanted to secede from Nigeria.

*Zik and the Igbo insisted the Nigeria must continue to exist in "Perpetual Unity".

Since there was no unanimity, Nigeria remained united. The Malaysians and Indians were wiser than the Nigerians. It's no surprise that that both countries are more productive and stable than Nigeria today. Black Africans simply don't have that THING needed to build successful nations.

In wealth, standard of living and HDI, South Africa....and Botswana and Namibia...are much more advanced than Nigeria. No doubt. The reason is that those countries have a substantive or significant number of White citizens who continue to dominate the economy. That's the truth. Left to the Black African people, those countries will become just like Nigeria within 2 generations which is about 50 years. Zimbabwe is proof.

Kenya is more productive than Nigeria. I've seen Kenyan shirts and other products in mass merchandise stores here in the USA. Simple reason...Kenya has some few White Africans and a substantive Asian citizenry.

The most advanced or highest HDI country in West Africa is likely Ivory Coast and at least up to 1994 and probably today the Civil Service and most major companies there were run by French men.

White Europeans did a lot of evil things to other races, including Black Africans. They've piled up a lot of profit from that. As far as I know, Sweden, Norway and Finland didn't colonize any African or Asian countries and yet have high HDI today.

Black Africans have to admit that Whites or Europeans also brought a lot of good to the Continent. The sad thing is that we can't seem to be able to learn and profitably apply the good parts. It goes beyond technology. I think concepts like democracy, rule of law and property rights and free markets are even more important. It's telling that South Africa and Kenya are the only countries on the Continent with free floating currency.

The FACT is hard to accept. Black Africans can't build high HDI societies without input from White Europeans. I truly don't know what the solution can be.

As to this particular matter, these White South African refugees are likely the poorer segment of the White population. From my readings and research over the years, the Whites of South Africa have the highest living standards among ALL White people in the world.

Which means as the poor Whites leave, it means less job or lower class competition for Black South Africans. The wealthier Whites will remain to keep the economy on a stable footing. That's a win for Black South Africans. If this refugee program turns into a major migration, Trump may have contributed more to South African stability than anyone can fathom right now.
