Softmirror: You may have a point but that doesn't disprove the kind of mismanagement of resources over many decades in this country by privileged individuals. After the abolishment of regionalism, the resources meant for about only 6 ethnic nations had to be shared between 200 ethnic nations... so the sharing of the money from 1966 till date is the cause of things been mis-managed and the fact that most of the leaders work for whyte supremacysts who don't want to black people prosper.. |

Softmirror: Resource dependency or not the basis of our underdevelopment lies in mismanagement. nairalanda1: Indigenisation or not, we were always going to be underdeveloped, because the basis of our economy was resource dependency, not exporting industrial products.
As for mission schools hospitals, etc, government took over too many schools and hospitals, and built too many more. The education budget has not been able to cope since then. Result..mess. the major cause of Nigeria's poverty and under-development is the Western institutions that don't want to see any black nation prosper.. It is western influence that made t:inuboooo to devalue the naira which spoilt the purchasing power of every Nigerian. you guys don't understand their hatred for black people globally especially those in Africa.. india annual budget is ₹48 trillion which is equal to $560 billion ( with a population over 1.4billion people while Nigeria annual budget is ₦49 trillion which is equal to $30 billion ( with a population of 200million people ).. my point is Western powers claim Nigeria's population is the reason for ₦ Naira's bad currency conversion to the dollar.. but India with a population 7 seven times Nigeria's own is not affected by the same bad currency conversion to the dollar.. if you reduce india annual budget to ₹28 trillion similar to Nigeria ₦28 trillion.. india's ₹28 trillion is still equal to $326 billion... the Naira is a weapon fashioned against Nigeria and Nigerians by the Western powers. |

Tinubu don destroy this country after Buhari do him own allthingsgood: Its not matter of Tinubu. We are dealing with a massive youth population that is largely lazy and unemployable. The education system we have is a major problem- grooming young people to be job seekers of jobs that dont exist. Then add our religious fanatism e,g what God cannot do does not exist, unmerited favours etc, it is a catastrophe that has long been coming.
Average Nigerian youth wants to be a billionaire overnight with no effort or input. They go for get rich quick schemes, MMM, Sport betting etc instead of building meaningful skills and offering same for financial gain. CorrectionFLuid: Seriously I don't understand you APC Yorubas
The man and party you support is at the helm of affairs, and data shows multi dimensional poverty above 50% in majority of the country, but instead of being ashamed, you brag with it, and even post about it yourselves.

Coldrux: How do these guys come up with these figures is what I'm yet to come to terms with. They just sit in a beer parlor and start assuming and falsifying figures. It's well with every fake statistician. I understand how high the poverty rate is, cos I'm a victim. But how do they come up with these numbers? What are the modalities and parameters deployed in arriving at these figures? Racoon: Ogun IGR cant redeem it from multidimensional poverty? Ebonyi State is understandable. Douglad: How exactly do you know they are faked? How can you say "for a fact" that these data are concocted from the comfort of your house? If you read the reports they publish, they mention how that they send trained agents out to the streets to collect data over a three-month period and these agents are subjected to daily evaluations to ensure that they're collecting accurate data.
Below is a section on their data collection method in one of the many reports they've published. OkCornel: Ogun state has more industries than Ekiti state yet Ogun state indigenes are more poverty stricken than Ekiti state indigenes on the average?
That surely makes a lot of sense! That should tell you that the statistics is fake... any data that does not show Ogun and Lagos dragging positions is fake.. followed by Rivers, Abuja, Oyo, Delta, Anambra, Akwa-ibom |

You will see large gatherings of Hausa beggers spread across the south west. Isn't that an evidence that they are extremely poor notwithstanding the fact that they have ruled Nigeria more? What they did was give themselves the best infrastructure in terms of the roads but did not invest in human development. Those are Nigeriens Hausas not Nigerian Hausas.. bigpicture001: Having lived all my young to mid adult life in Lagos and then being transferred by my firm to it's Anambra branch , I have now lived here for over two years... These are the differences in life style I noticed
1. Business are late to open in the morning in Anambra compared to Lagos
2. There very few or non existent road side mechanics, most mechanics are in a street inside a compound and fenced unlike Lagos
3. There is still high sense of morality and believe in God in this part of Nigeria by majority of of the people bar the student areas where culturi and believes are imported from various part of Nigeria unlike Lagos
4. There is low level of northern population throughout the state unlike Lagos
5. Most nysc corpers are southwestern and igbos
6. Inside the public transport a new entrant greets the old sittight ones... Unlike Lagos
7. In Anambra, keke driver or bike rider would give u the money to go look for change in cases of no change btw him and customer while he waits for ur return , reverse is the case in Lagos
8. In Anambra , both driver and persongers will reject money to the floor in cases of incorrect disputed price of fare... All allowing ur conscience judge u... In Lagos it results to fight...
9. In Anambra, house rents are very high just like Lagos.. but transport is cheap
10. In Anambra there is a few major fuel marketers mostly filled with unknown names
11. U hardly see anyone criticize a preist of a catholic or Anglican church...
12. In Anambra, student decision of department to follow in senior secondary Begins from SS2 rather than in SS1 in Lagos
13. The senior secondary skls in Anambra are divided to just science or art, while in Lagos it is science, commercial and art.
14. Girls in Anambra are strongly money incited...they judge u by how much u show off..maybe same with Lagos sha
15. Banks are the highest paying private jobs in Anambra unlike Lagos where unknown companies pay huge surprise wages.
16. In Anambra the predominant jobs of the yorubas is tailoring, they are better trusted by the clients than indigenous tailors... EmperorCaesar: Number 1 is correct. Sometimes, i used to wonder if their morning starts by 11am Number 16 is quite true too
Just read through. You couldnt have said it better.
As for the population of Northerners in Anambra, I guess it says more about the region than the Northerners themselves. Aside Deltans(linked by state boundaries), its very very very hard to see non-Igbos in Anambra(excluding Onitsha). You could just walk into anywhere and speak igbo and most times, 100% of those there are Igbos
Why compare them tho? the people you call northerners in Lagos are illegal immigrants from Niger Republic they are not northerners from northern Nigeria.. |

aylipple: Now, this is some sensible talk. There are foreign celebrities who visit Nigeria, showcase the poverty & slum areas as well as give some “little charity” for the cameras & it ends there.
Then, there are those who visit all the fancy, elite & beautiful parts of Nigeria & they also showcase this other “lovely & oft ignored” side of Nigeria; in so doing, they either deliberately ignore or don’t see the millions of Nigerians on the streets who are suffering & struggling every day for survival.
Then, there’s this particular lady here, who admits that there’s a huge potential for entertainment tourism in Nigeria (read Lagos) but she couldn’t help but notice the poverty & hunger in the land; she didn’t end there, she has used her platform to call for help for these vulnerable Nigerians & this should resonate more among her celeb circles because while it’s easier to visit Lagos for “detty December” & get to soak in all the razzmatazz & night life the city has to offer, there is a glaring & palpable reality - most of the people are passing through difficult times (and this isn’t peculiar to Nigeria) & they need all the prayers & support they can get.
While it’s true that the twin policies of subsidy removal & “floating” of the Naira are necessary evils, they’ve to carry a human face! What’s the essence of policies if it plunges more people into poverty, hardship, despair & starvation? Or what’s the essence of a policy that appears to impact the citizens more than it impacts the leaders who themselves introduced these policies? Has the President or governors reduced their foreign trips or the delegation on their entourages? Have the stopped buying brand new bullet proof cars for their comfort, luxury & security? Have they stopped fueling the Presidential jets or vehicles from public coffers for their private trips while many Nigerians than ever before can’t even afford to buy used vehicles not to talk of fueling them? Have they stopped allocating billions of Naira for upgrading their residences, offices & government or guest houses while many Nigerians can’t even afford decent accommodation? Have they stopped feeding large at the expense of the people who barely afford 1 meal a day now? Or have they reduced their wardrobe allowances or put a lid on their insatiable quest for stealing from the public purse? Etc.
Until our political leaders demonstrate a genuine connection to the pulse of the people on the streets & experience what every day Nigerians experience as their reality, we’ll never truly make a headway; we’ll just keep going around in circles & deceiving ourselves we’re making progress while the people languish in abject poverty! political leaders cannot demonstrate a genuine connection to the pulse of the people on the streets because they are puppets of whyte people that have deep hatred for black people.. so don't expect black politicians who work for whyte supremacists to have compassion for their fellow black people because those black politicians were chosen because they are anti-black in nature and will pass anti-Nigerian and anti-black policies just to impress the whyte people they work for.. |

You know why? because whyte people wanted their own oil companies to control the oil in Nigeria and Awolowo did not have any political power anymore and in prison was not stopping them from getting the oil.. Is it because Betty, The wife,is not a Yoruba? If she were a Yoruba, would anything be done in the husband's honour without being involved or informed?
Common, think outside the box devoid of ethnic machination.
Betty is right. State government is wrong with the arrangements without involving the family. because the wife is also ethnically biased and the state government is serving her a taste of her own medicine and once a person's husband is dead that person is no longer legally connected to that person.. if she was Yoruba she will not be verbally attacking the state government. When I arrived last week, I spent 55 dollars on a pack of bottled water, which didn't even last for a week. I've been here for 9 days now, and I must say that my bank account is really feeling the heat. Everything here is damn expensive. Switzerland is for the rich abeg. Nothing anybody wan tell me. Today, when I went shopping for groceries, I thought I was going to spend not more than 80 dollars, but to my utmost surprise, I ended up spending over 200 dollars on little items. When I was in Norway, Australia and Netherlands, I thought that the cost of living was high (these countries are quite expensive to live in), but this is just on another level. I'm leaving here on Saturday abeg, before my account starts wailing.
Guys, let me use this medium to drop a piece of advice. If anyone is advising you to leave Nigeria, show gratitude to that person, because he/she wants the best for you. I've been touring for 6 months now, and I must confess that Nigeria is a sh*thole. This is actually an understatement. If there was a worse word to use to attribute Nigeria, I'd have used it. Once I'm done with my travels, I'm permanently relocating to a European country. I'm just using this medium to gather my facts first, before making a final decision.
I'm an American citizen by birth, but I've not lived there for 2 straight years; I've been on and off. America is kinda cool, but I've no interest in living there permanently. UK and Canada are for introverted people, in my own opinion. Right now, I'm thinking of maybe Sweden or Germany for permanent relocation. I was forced to learn Deutsch, because I studied in Germany from 2016-2022; before relocating back to Nigeria, to handle my Dad's businesses. I learn languages fast, but it took me 6 months to almost perfectly learn Deutsch language. I now speak English, French, Spanish, Deutsch, Latin, and a little bit of Hebrew. I'll be posting more with time. Merry Christmas in advance guys.
Photos below You're very stupid for calling Nigeria a sh*thole.. Nigeria is the country that provided your dad with the funds and education to give you the life you have today without Nigeria you would never have the life you are living now |

obailala: Was wondering why no one else was mentioning this earlier in the thread. The report didnt mention there was an increase in output... The 300% is just a facade that's purely driven by the devaluation of the Naira.
In 2023, $1 was N400 but now it's N1700. So by default if I export a tonne of cocoa every year, the Naira devaluation automatically means I earn 400% more in Naira; and we all know the inflation already swallows this extra income.
Voodoo economics! yinkeys: Devalued naira Inflation factor It may even be less in value on the global market than what was exported before (2 years ago) Let’s get to work, dump the propaganda machine Freethinker87: They’re now feeding Nigerians fabricated statistics, and many are swallowing them without question. Notice how crafty they are, they conveniently skipped mentioning the tonnage of cocoa Nigeria exported in 2024 but highlighted the price instead.
Why not disclose the tonnage so we can measure the actual increase in output, rather than highlighting the increase in Naira price caused by the devaluation of the Naira? Naira was N570 in 2023, but now it’s N1750.
Incase you’re in doubt, Nigeria earned ~$670M in 2023, at the current exchange rate that amount would be over N1.17T but they want Nigerians to celebrate N664B which indicates a decline in output and revenue in 2024. Then according to the post, Nigeria made $368,000,000 in 2024 which is significantly less than 2023's $670,000,000.. T:inub:u has killed the economy by devaluing the naira. |

Onegai: So painful!
I wish she had a support system, even the local mosque she attends or Nigerian community to rely on.
The Nigerians in the UK are not very communal-minded, everyone is in their own enclaves and mind their business. Even when they form groups, it's rarely to help out but how to benefit from taking advantage of one another.
Nigerians are not very helpful in general.
If she was Indian, a family would have taken that toddler in.
We need to do better as a society. A family helped her but they have their own issues to deal with too and they left the child un-supervised and the child died... no one will look after another person's child with the same dedication they would use to look their own child. and what stops the woman from carrying her child with her? it has nothing to do with Nigerians.. the woman is a bad mother.. |
