Nigerians and entitlement mentality. This is why we have so much money rituals in the system.
The church is doing a lot and it takes a wise man to see that so I am not surprised by OP. "Thou shall lend to nations" is Gods plan for us and we have needy nation(s) all around so any church project that provides services we are being taxed for is a project for the needy and not just wants borne out of directionless-ness or greed. We have church schools, scholarships, housing projects, roads, hospitals, and even library. OP needs to take a shot of communion have his eyes of understanding opened up to see with his inner eyes. |

Where is the 5k per day for jobless Nigerians?
Where is the 700,000 jobs per month as promised?
Nobody seems to be talking about the suffering these past few years, we have all become partisan supporting clanish tribalism and glaring nepotism.
All of a sudden, N145/ litre of pms is acceptable, 300% increase in food prices is justified because it's time for politics.
Even Nigerians who lost their jobs due to the unfavourable policies of this government are busy campaigning for them cos it suits their tribal narrative
Some people who call themselves Christians are unconcerned Leah is stuck, Leah will be released few weeks to the elections and the novice Christians will chant 'Sai Baba'
And the trend will continue until 10 generations are gone. Nigeria is the home to the rejects of creation. |

BluntBoy: The emboldened statement is terrible.
Social freedom is not what corrupts the youth. The misuse of social freedom is what corrupts a lot of people. Social freedom is good. However, when it is misused, the consequences can be very grave. You and Covenant University are wrong to think freedom is bad or that freedom would make students wayward.
I enjoyed a lot of freedom while in school but it didn't make me become a cultist. I used my freedom wisely. I have friends who finished from the University of Ibadan as myself and with all the freedom we enjoyed and our access to mobile phones, we never joined a cult or became fraudsters.
Just so you know, while in NYSC camp, in my set, one of the most passed around girl was a Covenant University student. Even the indigenes slept with her. I know of one guy who ran a bar. She always drank there and he was sleeping with her as well. I caught them with my own eyes once.
Why am I saying all these? I want you to correct the impression that freedom corrupts or makes a person go astray. Freedom is good, misusing freedom is what is bad. I never said or implied the bold and don't think Covenant thinks same way. Social freedom doesn't start and end in closed campus system like Covenant University. In fact the students spend only about 7 months on campus in a whole year and are as free as birds for the remaining 5 month unlike what people seem to imply always. Some of the student have freedom before coming to covenant and some even spent 2 or 3 yrs in public schools. |

BluntBoy: You are just contradicting yourself.
Is seeing the world not part of education? What is the benefit of denying students phones? Is education supposed to be classroom-based alone
Freedom goes with education. You can't throw freedom away and expect to produce well-rounded graduates. If education is by use of phones and absolute social freedom then what about those who can't afford phones? Social freedom has help our direction less youth redefine education in a very bad way. The freedom to bend to peer pressure of cultism and likes now defines education more because those thing can help graduates make money in easier ways than labour or skills. Pathetic thinking. |

Education › Should Nigerian Universities Certify Graduates In Character? by CodeTemplar(op): 6:11pm On Sep 14, 2018 |
Most of us must have followed the Covenant University sex and expulsion drama as well as many other of such drama from other Nigerian universities like OAU and UNILAG.
From my little understanding of most Nigerian schools, they are suppose to certify graduates in both learning and character. This calls for rules that are well aligned with vision for those schools to be made and enforced by authorities in charge and that's where my questions comes in.
Looking around us today, we can see clearly how learned men and women with next to no moral values or character have ruined our society and this leads us to a broader question that goes beyond what is happening in the above mentioned schools.
Should schools even bother to certify graduates in character at all? If yes, how would you suggest this be done? |

djon78: Honestly I believe CU should reform. Like the writer stated love, mercy should reign supreme. The only thing that will draw people to the message of the kingdom is to be like Jesus in love and mercy. Why was sinners, publicans, tax collectors, prostitues comfortable in Jesus company. It was because of Jesus personality. He was a personality never seen before. Mary Magdalene who anointed Jesus feet was a terrible LovePeddler, but the Lord loved her and she was transformed. The Samaritan woman had plenty men, she was living with a man who was not her husband when Jesus met her at the well. Still it didn't stop the Lord from conversing with her and transforming her.
The Lord said it is the sick people that need doctor. There outreach and students should be sinners not the too goody people.
That's why they have to ensure they are not rigid. God is not rigid. God gave each one of us free will. We can chose him or not, depending on what we want.
To me they should remove all those laws and let things be. Set standard though, but at the same time give people freedom to chose the life they want. Are aware apostle Paul in new testament partook of murder before his conversion? Please upgrade ur logic. |

There are many closed campuses around the world and I wonder how you will reduce university system to a carnival-like gathering of youths. The school don't admit by force. dmakoy: Bishop Oyedepo's Covenant University fires Professor & a female staff for sexual immorality, as massive calls amongst the Alumni for due investigation & sanctioning in response to the ongoing sexual misconduct allegations against the Univ. Registrar thicken.
In the wake of the aftermath of Oprah Winfrey Oscars #metoo campaign, earlier this year on Jan. 8th, 2018, a Unilag Alumnae by name, Aigbeme Okonkwo shared on her FBook, how 12years ago, her academic course adviser, then Dr. Louis Egwari sexually harassed & intimidated her.
She stated out of deep concern that Egwari is now a faculty at CU & feared he might be a similar sexual predator to the female students.
Eight months after her FB post, CU fires Prof Egwari who was caught pants down live and right in his office with a married female staff who just returned from Maternity leave. Unknown to him the School's MGT had put him under surveillance, wired his office with a secret CCTV. Both of them have since been fired.
Egwari rose to the position of a Professor in the BioSci Dept. in 2010/11 and he is said to have to his credit about two Patents for his research innovations: Pawpaw Tea (a.k.a Pawka) & Grounded Rice Meal. He was also one of the several CU's faculty, ordained by Bishop Oyedepo to serve as associate pastors at his church, faith tabernacle.
His sack came some days ago, ahead of the current ongoing sexual allegations against the Registrar & school at the moment.
It's really sad that some of the people that Bishop Oyedepo has appointed to help him run his divine assignment and vision are apparently wolves in sheep's clothing.
It was also reported that it is on record that, a popular Fmr. Chaplain @ Covenant University, who is still one of Oyedepo's key pastors and board members till date, impregnated his house maid (who has been on the run for fear for her safety), but shockingly till date, the said pastor still officiates at Winners sunday services, he usually seats next to Oyedepo's wife, Pastor Faith every Sunday @ the Tabernacle, Ota.
We only hope Oyedepo will take necessary actions before these wolves run down his entire ministry for him. Enough said! Hmmm...Bishop doesn't support nonsense but needs to be sure of what he is doing and that's where the bad guys exploit. I pray they are exposed more and more. Nobody deserves to suffer without offense. |

jarmy: My take on this case:
1. Too much restrictions on children or adults may cause deviant behaviors.
2. The ex student, Adooh, if true, did not act well. I mean, why point an accusing finger instead of plead guilty. His action is a dent on what CU stands for.
3. You cannot force good conduct on people. This your logic get k-leg oh. In ur no. 2 did the school vouch for the guys character by admitting him. The guy and sch only become bonded after grad and he didn't grad there so why bring in the school again when they have proven themselves upright? |

Don't forget that school is still under Nigerian ministry of Education, meaning its government accredited. You wonder why the guy won his case in court. You can't stop me from having sex, I will sue your a@@@S.
And I have the right to have sex with Oyedepo's daughter so far she consent to it. Rules/Laws gives rooms for extra rules between two private individuals trying to establish new relationships. It is when one party is manipulated in agreeing to that relationship that there is problem. get it? |

On a lighter note. I can imagine if OAU or Unilag decide to suspend all students having sex. The school will be empty immediately Cc: @cntabs and davico. The girl could have claimed forgiveness and repentance since last December when the damage was done but the guy went into the panel and lied to them as well as against them. Now there is no way he could have claimed repentance when still covering up the act. That marks him out as. |
