I know industrial chemistry is quite a challenging department. I know because I had friends who "carried over" physical chemistry
till final year in the same Covenant. But because it was hard for you doesn't mean it wouldn't be easy for someone else.
There were times some dept had to register 32 units (excluding carry overs). around 2007/2008. People assume CU is a walkover place.
I remember seeing UNN and other eastern school undergrads parade their own SIWES as 15 units course as against 6 units in CU.

Congrats to all the graduands once again.

CChillz:
Its not about graduating first class. How many of this first class graduate can boast of employment after graduation and service? How many of them will be awarded with jobs, or money to start up a business? Only about 5% may be able to boast abou jobs after their service year, but people like ex BBnaija housemates that promoted porn on national TV will be getting millions and awarded contracts. What's the way forward in this our "beloved Nigeria"?
If the NUC regulates and the school award first class to those who met the criteria I see nothing wrong in it. Congrats to the graduates.

It pays to do right.
Covenant is the school to break the regulated first class yoke. Before CU started encouraging it, people see it as a sign of weakness but today that is changing as unilag and ui are towing same path. Congrats to the graduand.

True words but Nigerians are stuck on freebies to the extent that people think the govt can sustain subsidized education infinitely.

At some point the enjoyer's of these subsidized education must give back to the system either as endowment fund or higher school fees.

This question is highly underrated.

Can I face a court with laws that are not in line with my faith?

Or as a Muslim what stops me from claiming another religion (that is if not being a muslim grants me immunity) and escaping punishment

and if it doesn't grant me immunity, can an atheist (for example) be prosecuted by the court for what it(the court) considers as 'immoral/indecent' dressing? considering that he does not believe in religion, the punishment will be logically unfair, the laws are primitive and that prosecuting someone for that is almost like violating a human right. I am not familiar with the sharia law so I stand to be corrected on my example
You can see how Muslims are using their 'misinterpreted' beliefs to claim territory. By forcing laws that threaten the lives, businesses and relationship of people on citizens in any territory they have successfully annexed.

I received N30, 000 for abducting Chibok school girls – Suspect
By NAN
19 July 2018 | 6:39 pm

A suspected Boko Haram insurgents’ commander, Mayinta Modu, said he received N30, 000 as payment for coordinating and participatiing in the abduction of Chibok schools girls.
Modu said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday at the Borno state Police Command, Maiduguri.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the insurgents had in 2014 abducted over 200 students of the Government Secondary School Chibok, Borno.
Modu, 23, was among the 22 suspected Boko Haram members arrested by the police for their role in facilitating and coordinating the abduction of the school girls and attacks on communities, military, security agencies as well as suicide bombings in Borno and Adamawa.
The suspects were arrested by the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), under the command of DCP Abba Kyari two weeks ago in Borno and Yobe.
The Commissioner, Mr Damian Chukwu, disclosed that Modu and seven other suspects participated actively in the abduction of the school girls.
The police identified Modu, as one of the insurgents’ commanders, who coordinated the abduction of the girls and participated in the attacks on Bama and Gwoza communities.
Modu, who hails from Bama in Borno, said that he and other commanders led dozens of fighters to Chibok and abducted the girls from their school in Chibok.
The suspect narrated that after the abduction, they trasversed through many areas between Nigeria and Cameroun border.
Modu added that the insurgents spent many days in the wilderness before they finally handed over the girls to top commanders of the group.
“Most of the abducted girls were released. We were paid N30, 000 each for participation in the abduction.
“Equally, when the girls were released sequel to the negotiation with government, we got additional payment of between N30, 000 and N60, 000 each,” he said.
Modu added that he also coordinated several attacks on Bama and Gwoza communities, which resulted in the loss of lives and property.
The suspect further revealed that he also facilitated recruitment of girls and boys used as suicide bombers in Maiduguri and other parts of the northeast.

This same Kano used federal allocation that is primarily for things like these to sponsor Ramadan fast few months ago and I am sure some of the students ate from the Ramadan fast food.

We used development as excuse to access easy oil money but quickly divert the funds for mundane things while education suffers. I hope the Kano state govt releases a statement to this effect.

Education › UNILAG Seeks Police Intervention In Tackling Sexual Harassment Saga by CodeTemplar(op): 6:34am On Jul 19, 2018
The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has threatened to involve the police to compel Miss Joy Nwanna, the victim in the alleged case of sexual harassment involving one of its lecturers to appear before the investigation committee and substantiate her allegations.Nwanna had accused a Professor of Linguistics at the institution’s Department of English, Prof. Segun Awonusi of sexually harassing her.
The vice chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe who disclosed this at a briefing gave the identity of the accuser as Miss Joy Nwanna, a former student of the English Department who was enrolled to 200 level through direct entry during 2012/2013 academic session and graduated in 2016.
Prof Ogundipe also appealed to the publisher of ‘Linda Ikeji Blog’, the website that published the semi-nude pictures of the accused to help the university in its investigative efforts by supplying relevant information in her disposal about the source of the news. Already, the vice chancellor said all efforts by the committee to reach Miss Nwanna has failed as all her contact phone numbers obtained from her records were not going through.
Ogundipe said the embattled lecturer had appeared twice before the five-man panel headed by a former Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Chioma Agonmo and had replied his query in writing. He said; “The panel conducted its investigations and recently submitted its report. Preliminary findings showed that the allegation of sexual harassment was not substantiated by the alleged victim or any other person.
“The preliminary investigations have raised certain questions and issues that need to be investigated further. Investigations are ongoing. The university is making efforts to confirm the authenticity or otherwise of the pictures that were released. We also require Miss Joy Nwanna to come forward to substantiate the allegations.
“To this end, the press and general public are urged to assist the university by impressing it upon the alleged victim to come forward and substantiate her claim. An appeal is also made to Linda Ikeji to convince the victim to appear before the panel and state her side of the story. Ikeji as an alumnus of the university has the right to help in the investigation because the image of the institution is affected.”

Politics › Senate Begins Probe Of Lease Renewal In Oil, Gas Sector by CodeTemplar(op): 6:19am On Jul 19, 2018
• Says Nigeria may lose $10 billion
• Okays N348 billion outstanding subsidy claims for marketers

The Senate yesterday resolved to probe all issues connected with the ongoing lease renewal in oil and gas sector being undertaken by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).
The upper legislative chamber, which disclosed that there were serious cases of monumental illegal discounts and rebates in the process of lease renewal, which it noted, was a serious factor in the revenue loss, therefore, mandated its Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) to commence investigation.
The committee was directed to report to the Senate within four weeks and unravel the anomalies in the process and identify appropriate measures to correct such. This resolution was sequel to a motion moved by Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Upstream), Tayo Alasoadura (APC, Ondo State) and co-sponsored by Baba Kaka Bashir Garbai (APC, Borno Central), James Manager (PDP, Delta South) and Gershom Bassey (PDP, Cross River South).
In his lead debate, Alasoadura noted that the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) had since December 2017 been inundated with a plethora of petitions and complaints and had observed that there were multiplicity of irregularities surrounding the ongoing renewal of oil and gas leases being undertaken by the ministry and the DPR.
The lawmaker also alleged that the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, was granting all manner of illegal discounts and rebates in the process of the ongoing renewal of the leases.Alasoadura further alleged that Kachikwu and the DPR were proceeding to renew leases of companies that had brazenly and illegally refused to pay royalties due to government from oil and gas lifted by them in contravention of extant laws.
According to him, “the alleged irregularities being perpetrated by the minister and the DPR in the ongoing lease renewal process was capable of denying government revenue in excess of $10 billion.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over the session, urged regulatory agencies to wake up to their duties. In another development, the Senate has approved the payment of N348 billion as outstanding subsidy claims to 74 oil marketers.
This development followed an adopted interim report of the Committee on Petroleum (Downstream) on the promissory note programme and a bond issuance to settle inherited local debts and contractual obligations to petroleum marketers. Out of this amount, 55 oil marketers are to receive N275,750,415,108 while 19 others will get N73,452,639,866.
Besides recommending that the 55 oil marketers be paid 100 per cent of their claims, the committee called for the payment of 65 per cent claims to other marketers following the contentions in their figures. The upper legislative chamber also mandated the committee to continue its engagement with the Ministry of Finance, oil marketing companies, Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) and other stakeholders to update all the outstanding liabilities and clear all outstanding debts, interest accrued and forex differential once and for all.
