Well here are a couple of reviews for ELI; ELI launch has come and gone. If you ask all the people that attended the event, they will tell you that it was an explosive and high energy show. Here are a few pictures from the event which wrapped up just a few hours ago. Expect more pictures and videos to be released this week. Remember to Buy the Album below. In less than 24 hours it became the 3rd highest selling album in the notjustOk store http://www.notjustok.com/2011/10/09/pictures-ice-prince-eli-album-launch/ And a more insightful and critical critique It’s almost been three years since we first heard Ice Prince on Blaze off M.I’s classic debut Talk About It. He lacked the charm shown by M.I, the lyrical wit of Jesse Jagz and the menacing flow of Blaise. He seemed lost in the pack with his rigid flow and his feeble voice lacked command. Its 2011 and the young man already has two hit singles tucked under his pricy designer belt; Superstar and the Hiroshima of a single Oleku. With his debut album Everybody Loves Ice Prince (E.L.I) the young cub who sat in the wings and watched his mentor M.I change the game virtually wants you to know that he is a grown Simba. Tucked in E.L.I are songs that display his growth as a song writer and not merely a rapper. Every track has been crafted to evoke a unique type of response and appeal to a certain demographic. On the 17 track album, Ice Prince kicks off by paying homage to those who have been there before him on the Jude Abaga produced Remember. Fame can sometimes be a strange and lonely place and Ice Prince lets us know this over Jesse Jagz’ tribal drums. “Some of y’all really showed love way back/damn!-now y’all hating my success/how the Bleep am I suppose to relate that/huh? Am I supposed to be upset?”ponders Panshak Zamani on the trappings of fame and the hate it brings. It’s a J-Town gathering on Magician feat Yung L and J-Milla. The semi-erotic track can make some ladies thirst for some bumping and grinding despite some of its cheesy lyrics (“I’ma vote for you like campaign…you drop bomb like the Pakistan”). Being one of the biggest pop acts in the federal republic it is only natural that Ice tries to duplicate the success of his monster hit Oleku. Sadly the tracks crafted in E.L.I for commercial success fail to hit their intended mark. The high-life based Baby should have been left on the cutting floor, while the collabo between Ice and Wizkid Olofofo which boasts of an uninspired beat from M.I huffs and puffs but fails to blow the house down. However the other highlife influenced song which features Wizboy By This Time fares much better but End of Story produced by Samklef goes over the bar. Samklef’s now popular drums were once exciting but now creep on nauseating. Wassup Wassup featuring the juggernauts of pop hits Tu Face sounds like a smash with Ice Prince admirably switching his flow which signals his growth at crafting songs. 2 Baba’s freestyle verse and the saxophone employed by Jesse bolster the track. Despite the missteps, Ice Prince has some deep cuts to offer like Find You. Now an orphan with the passing away of his mum this year he dedicates this track to his parents. His little sister ends the somber track with her wishing she could find her parents again. Somebody Lied speaks on how he hopped on that bus to Lagos while many discouraged him. “Shey na Lagos dem dey blow I go end there/ I took that night bus ‘cos me I had hope/ and back home I was getting tired of being bad broke/ if na hunger we go fight, I go try cope/ Me I go wash dem eye till they cry soap”. In between verse 1 and 3, he delivers a rare conscious verse which touches on the failed promises of democracy since 1999. For the rap heads, Ice crafts a song especially for them. Dat Ni**a featuring the new but impressive Morell on the hook is not only Ice’s finest rap moment but Jesse Jagz too on the producer’s chair. It’s hard, it knocks and reminiscent of Ice Prince when he was in beast mode killing features but this time around with a brand new flow. The dual flaws in ELI are that some of the commercial songs backfire and Ice’s habit of spitting some cheesy and head scratching lines. They slightly draw back a body of work solidly drafted by the rapper. The spotlight should also be on the major architect of the LP, Jesse Jagz. His beats make the album cohesive and with his scene stealing verse on the obligatory Choc Boys outro track Thank You; you wonder why he is not the hottest item in Nigeria’s pop music scene right now. Everybody Loves Ice Prince is an album with a good solid core and a few blemishes on its exterior but hey what’s love without accepting one’s imperfections? http://popoffcentral..com/2011/10/post-eli-album-review.html |

frosbel:This is so lame.Is this the best you can come up with?I know you can do better |
frosbel:Why don't you respond to the op's question & help a troubled mind rather than attacking everyone else throwing darts everywhere, anything but answering the question |
Well Mr Frosbel, you seem to be well versed in scriptural matters. Can you shed some light on the op's question.I'm interested on your take on this issue |
but all the same big props to Vettel & Button although I still think Hamilton is still a better driver. It takes nothing away from Jenson |
^I don't think Hamilton saw Massa.Even the stewards agreed,at least for once |
No further action wid be taken on the Hamilton/Massa incident |
Hamilton might just get another penalty for crowding out Massa. . .again |
Who else is watching an early morning grand prix? |
Rubbish!Arrant nonsense! He said we'll lose.Well we drew but failed to qualify which is not the same thing. So what nonsensical prophecy are you guys ranting about? |
arsenefc:These are one of the few times i've had to let out a chuckle at your post. But then again how would we know he hasn't got halitosis ![]() |
COS101:A way of life.No biggie.I'm sure you wldn't have anything to say about this; Manchester United striker was caught by paparazzi cameras in a unsportsmanlike attitude. He was drunk, smoking and urinating in the streets of the English town at 5:30 AM. http://m24digital.com/en/2010/08/03/wayne-rooney-peeing-and-smoking-in-the-street-see-photos/ Oh yeah,he's white so it don't matter.mtcheeew |
Babakenny:Yeah right,Paul the Octopus predicted several games correctly during the world cup.I guess we should bestow upon it the title 'prophet',right? |
Busy_body:Hehe,my dear relax I just call it as I see it.@Op,for starters,a one month pregnancy is not a child by any stretch of the imagination. The beginning portion of what we consider the first month of pregnancy is actually your period until you ovulate. You are not actually pregnant during this time frame, but knowing the first day of your last normal period (LMP) only enable gynaecologists to more accurately calculate your due date. Now if you refuse to 'assist' a friend based on your beliefs you may be right or you may be wrong but one thing you can rest assured is your friend is definitely going to find the money one way or another. My personal opinion is this, the abortion may be justified based on extenuating circumstances. Perhaps the biggest mistake when looking at the abortion question is to assume that all abortions are the same; we might think that they are all immoral, or, on the other hand, that they are all morally permissible. The fact is, though, that there are perhaps 100 distinct abortion scenarios that differ regarding the fetus’ age and health, the mother’s life and health, and possible adverse impact on society. Ideally, each one of these scenarios should be assessed on its own terms before making a moral pronouncement.Anyways,to each their own |

Yes na she consented to being r aped.Didn't you all watch the video?Didn't you all see how relaxed she was?If I didn't know any better i'd say she was enjoying it.Naija we hail thee |
'A good example is best sermon'.So they say.You don't expect any less from your members when you don't practice what you preach. indecent manner of dressing by church members has often been facilitated by the appearance and expensive lifestyles of spouses and children of Pastors too. in order to attract more members to churches, some of the self-seeking pastors completely neglect issues on discipline, morality and spiritual welfare, and rather focus on preaching prosperity and issues related to wealth. Bottomline, the church today is simply a business not a place to groom hearts and minds |
Mark: Talks of power improvement a ruse Senate President David Mark has decried the poor power supply in the country declaring that the situation has worsened in recent times. Speaking yesterday during inauguration of Senate Committee on Power and Steel, Mark said all the talk about improvement in power generation capacity is a ruse as it has failed to translate into improved power supply in the country. According to Mark “I have not seen any change in power supply, if anything the situation is getting worse. It is very painful and we agonise over it all the time. The whole dream about vision 2020 will just remain a dream without the power situation improving.” Mark asked officials in the sector to adopt radical means of solving the situation saying “the situation of power goes beyond statistics on the pages of paper. If sacking people will be the solution lets sack them and get results. “It is not all about saying that you have generated so much megawatt. I think we should even stop saying that we are generating 3,000 megawatts because that is supposed to be for a small town.” While inaugurating the committee on National Security and Intelligence, Mark declared that the Boko Haram threat is just a passing phase and will soon be contained. He charged security agencies to bring the situation under control as it can scare off investors from the country. Mark also inaugurated the committees on National Planning, Nigerian Navy, Niger Delta and Police Affairs. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=35601:mark-talks-of-power-improvement-a-ruse-&catid=2:lead-stories&Itemid=8 |
All these arm chair critics who continue to bore us with their inanities will do well to pack it in already! Is security of lives & property not at par with potable water, quality education and a functional health system?Only the thought that a camera is above you whether functional or not would make you think twice before jacking that car or abducting that child. That's why there are dummy cameras to keep you honest. |
SuyaEater:Indeed.So sad |
davidylan:From the horror stories that emanated from The Congo at the time,it was clear the missionaries were executing the actions of King Leopold to the latter. There was even a letter he wrote to President Roosevelt in 1915 that was published in the NY Times at the time, denying the plethora of atrocities the missionaries were undertaking. I'll dig it out when I have the time & post it here. davidylan:Is this some sort of justification |

tpia@:I know it will look fake to you as well as millions of others who remain in a constant state of denial.Regardless,it is an incontrovertible fact that letter is as real as the sun rising in the East & setting in the West.It has an unarguable lofty position in the annals of history.Churned out so many books,write-ups,articles etc for over a hundred years. |
Here's an excerpt from the Catholic Encyclopedia, (Yes!You read right,Catholic Encyclopedia!)though they tried to water down the devious activities of the Christian missionaries & made it look like it was a necessary evil in order to save the Congolese from himself; The natives The irreligion and ignorance of the Congolese have often been exaggerated and misrepresented. They are not so debased as many pretend. They recognize a supreme God, Creator of all things, but they seem very largely to ignore His immediate Providence and His interventions in the affairs of this world. They believe in the existence of spirits, and admit to a metempsychosis more or less happy in a future life. Their worship is a species of gross fetishism, propagated by the sorcerers, whose influence is very great and often most pernicious. These sorcerers are the "wise men" of the Congo; they are consulted about everything. If misfortune comes or crime is committed, it is to them that recourse must be had, and whoever is designated by them as the cause of the evil must pass through the test of fire or of casque (poison drink). The State forbids such tests under most severe penalties. Superstitious fears and slavish attachments to amulets are the chief obstacles to conversion. Others are the practice of polygamy, largely due to the custom which prevents the wife from having any relations with her husband during the period of lactation — from two to three years — lest she should make her child unhappy; the cannibalism which exists in certain parts; ingrained habits of idleness; gross egoism; the worship of might as confounded with right — in short that sum of differences which separates, as by an abyss, the essentially pagan soul of the Congolese from the Christian conception of right and wrong which the missioners try to impart. The excesses and the evil example of the Europeans themselves render the missionary's even more difficult. Add to this the abuse which, in the district where the rubber trade flourishes, or in the neighbourhood of towns, imposes a hard task of from fifteen to twenty days per month of forced labour instead of the forty hours fixed by the law; the unfortunate division between the Christian churches and the acts of petty opposition consequent thereon — and the problem is still further complicated. Nor is all ended when the Congolese is converted; he must be continually urged to hold fast to the gift he has received, for his fickleness is very great. Often he imagines that his obligation to remain a Christian ceases with the contract which binds him to a mission or to the service of Europeans. In the eastern part of Upper Congo the Arabs, who frequently make slave raids, have managed to win over to their religion many of the intelligent tribes of the Bakusus. These proselytes regard all their workmen as slaves for life; they are immoral, fanatic, and very hostile to the Gospel. The noble work of evangelization in the Congo, however, is far from being fruitless. As formerly under the Portuguese rule, so today the missionaries find souls in which their teaching takes firm root. Mgr. Augougard gives the example of a catechist of the tribe of Babois who, seeing the resources of the mission failing, undertook to feed and clothe the children of his school with the profits of his sewing-machine. The most intelligent part of the population inhabits the Domaine de la Couronne and is well disposed toward Christianity. Until 1908 these people were shut off from all immediate missionary influence; they were evangelized, however, by some of their countrymen who had become Christians while serving in the army. Many travelled long distances to see and speak with Catholic missionaries, and both men and women, nothing daunted, undertook perilous journeys in order to reach the missionary stations. It is not surprising therefore that the missionaries have been received everywhere with enthusiasm, and that the natives have offered to build their simple habitations and schools. http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/04228a.htm |
I understand perfectly. It is often referred to as a state of denial. It's akin to hearing or seeing the loss of a loved one & refusing to believe or accept even when you know it's undeniably true |
In addition,If you are an omnivorous reader, you might want to read a book by Adam Hoschild; 'King Leopold's Ghost'.It is an interesting, gripping and spellbinding book that would shake your faith to its foundation. “An enthralling story, full of fascinating characters, intense drama, high adventure, deceitful manipulations, courageous truthtelling, and splendid moral fervor . . . A work of history that reads like a novel.” —Christian Science Monitor |
frosbel:You want another proof sir?Well here is your proof.& I'm sure you'd be hard pressed to discredit this source too, since i've seen you use it countless times to butress your stories. Here goes: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/3516965.stm On second thought,I might just save you the rigor of clicking & post it here for your perusal. King Leopold's legacy of DR Congo violence Of the Europeans who scrambled for control of Africa at the end of the 19th century, Belgium's King Leopold II left arguably the largest and most horrid legacy of all. King Leopold II left arguably the largest and most horrid legacy While the Great Powers competed for territory elsewhere, the king of one of Europe's smallest countries carved his own private colony out of 100km2 of Central African rainforest. He claimed he was doing it to protect the "natives" from Arab slavers, and to open the heart of Africa to Christian missionaries, and Western capitalists. Instead, as the makers of BBC Four documentary White King, Red Rubber, Black Death powerfully argue, the king unleashed new horrors on the African continent. Torment and rape He turned his "Congo Free State" into a massive labour camp, made a fortune for himself from the harvest of its wild rubber, and contributed in a large way to the death of perhaps 10 million innocent people. I was so moved, Your Excellency, by the people's stories that I took the liberty of promising them that in future you will only kill them for crimes they commit John Harris Missionary in Baringa What is now called the Democratic Republic of Congo has clearly never recovered. "Legalized robbery enforced by violence", as Leopold's reign was described at the time, has remained, more or less, the template by which Congo's rulers have governed ever since. Meanwhile Congo's soldiers have never moved away from the role allocated to them by Leopold - as a force to coerce, torment and rape an unarmed civilian population. Chopping hands As the BBC's reporter in DR Congo, I covered stories that were loud echoes of what was happening 100 years earlier. Men who failed to bring enough rubber for agents were killed The film opens with the shocking images of some of Leopold's victims - children and adults whose right hands had been hacked off by his agents. They needed these to prove to their superiors that they had not been "wasting" their bullets on animals. This rule was seldom observed as soldiers kept shooting monkeys and then later chopping off human hands to provide their alibis. 'Foreign correspondents' Director Peter Bate uses documented accounts of such atrocities to present an imaginary court case against the monarch who he compares to a subsequent European tyrant, Adolf Hitler. He has an actor play the bearded, heavily-set Leopold, fidgeting nervously as damning testimonies are read out, compiled by the foreign correspondents of the day, the missionaries. John Harris of Baringa, for example, was so shocked by what he had come across that he felt moved to write a letter to Leopold's chief agent in the Congo. "I have just returned from a journey inland to the village of Insongo Mboyo. The abject misery and utter abandon is positively indescribable. I was so moved, Your Excellency, by the people's stories that I took the liberty of promising them that in future you will only kill them for crimes they commit." Positive legacy In the film's most powerful sequences we see reconstructions of the terror caused by Leopold's enforcers and agents. We see a village burnt without warning and its people rounded up; its men sent off into the forests, and its women tied up as hostages and helpless targets of abuse until their husbands return with enough wild rubber to satisfy the agent. This, we are told, was the "moment of truth" for the whole community. If the men did not bring back enough and the agent lost his commission, he would order the deaths of everyone. Children and adults had their hands chopped off There is no doubt that Congo's history, and White King, Red Rubber, Black Death are almost too upsetting to bear, however Leopold did leave, albeit unwittingly, one positive legacy - the birth of modern humanitarianism. The campaign to reveal the truth behind Leopold's "secret society of murderers," led by diplomat Roger Casement, and a former shipping clerk ED Morel, became the first mass human rights movement. Its successors like Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the Kinshasa-based Voix des Sans Voix and Journaliste En Danger mean abuses in modern day DR Congo can never be hidden for long. |
It continues. . . Convert always the blacks by using the whip. Keep their women in nine months of submission to work freely for us. Force them to pay you in sign of recognition-goats, chicken or eggs-every time you visit their villages. And make sure that niggers never become rich. Sing every day that it's impossible for the rich to enter heaven. Make them pay tax each week at Sunday mass. Use the money supposed for the poor, to build flourishing business centres. Institute a confessional system, which allows you to be good detectives denouncing any black that has a different consciousness contrary to that of the decision-maker. Teach the niggers to forget their heroes and to adore only ours. Never present a chair to a black that comes to visit you. Don't give him more than one cigarette. Never invite him for dinner even if he gives you a chicken every time you arrive at his house. “The above speech which shows the real intention of the Christian missionary journey in Africa was exposed to the world by Mr. Moukouani Muikwani Bukoko, born in the Congo in 1915, and who in 1935 while working in the Congo, bought a second hand Bible from a Belgian priest who forgot the speech in the Bible. I have left out some aspects of the letter which I deem irrelevant considering the length of the letter so as not to bore you with too many details. However, if you feel like reading the write up in its entirety you can go here; http://www.fafich.ufmg.br/~luarnaut/Letter%20Leopold%20II%20to%20Colonial%20Missionaries.pdf |
Could this explain the docility of the Nigerian Christian till this day? Read on. . . Letter from King Leopold II of Belgium to Colonial Missionaries, 1883 “Reverends, Fathers and Dear Compatriots: The task that is given to fulfill is very delicate and requires much tact. You will go certainly to evangelize, but your evangelization must inspire above all Belgium interests. Your principal objective in our mission in the Congo is never to teach the niggers to know God, this they know already. They speak and submit to a Mungu, one Nzambi, one Nzakomba, and what else I don't know. They know that to kill, to sleep with someone else's wife, to lie and to insult is bad. Have courage to admit it; you are not going to teach them what they know already. Your essential role is to facilitate the task of administrators and industrials, which means you will go to interpret the gospel in the way it will be the best to protect your interests in that part of the world. For these things, you have to keep watch on disinteresting our savages from the richness that is plenty [in their underground. To avoid that, they get interested in it, and make you murderous] competition and dream one day to overthrow you. Your knowledge of the gospel will allow you to find texts ordering, and encouraging your followers to love poverty, like “Happier are the poor because they will inherit the heaven” and, “It's very difficult for the rich to enter the kingdom of God.” You have to detach from them and make them disrespect everything which gives courage to affront us. I make reference to their Mystic System and their war fetish – warfare protection – which they pretend not to want to abandon, and you must do everything in your power to make it disappear. Your action will be directed essentially to the younger ones, for they won't revolt when the recommendation of the priest is contradictory to their parent's teachings. The children have to learn to obey what the missionary recommends, who is the father of their soul. You must singularly insist on their total submission and obedience, avoid developing the spirit in the schools, teach students to read and not to reason. There, dear patriots, are some of the principles that you must apply. You will find many other books, which will be given to you at the end of this conference. Evangelize the niggers so that they stay forever in submission to the white colonialists, so they never revolt against the restraints they are undergoing. Recite every day – “Happy are those who are weeping because the kingdom of God is for them.” |
Yup I did.A lady trying to get justice for being gang raped whilst the community insist on honor killing.I see nothing about abortion or did I miss it |
