PoliticsRe: Why Can't Igbos Withdraw From The Enemy Territory? by coldhearts(f): 10:35pm On Apr 21, 2011

Yes. I understand both the aspects of SW and Southern. Even when I was in Uni, the Southerners (Igbo, Yoruba, Bini, Ibibio, Efik etc) kept to themselves and the Northerners (Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri) did same.
My point was just to illustrate the relations between the two dominant ethnic groups in the South. Also, its far more easier and possible though tricky, to have a "workable" south than you'd think possible. I know the mindset of every popular ethnic group within Nigeria so, my views are from such mindsets.
careful with those trickery cos they can backfire. We've been called traitors in the past and now why do you think such union will work?

I think the SE and SW can live in harmony, irrespective of any differences they may harbor among themselves. A classic example is my parents who have been happily married for about 40years and going.
it's not about inter-marriage, it is about development and a system that is not working for the common good of all.

The relationship between the Yorubas and Igbos is really a love-hate relationship. But on the whole, both still rather live with each other than any other major ethnic group (its just that they'll never admit it).

I grew up in the east and in all my life there, I've never heard of Igbo/Yoruba conflicts either in the east or the west, truth be told. Whatever anyone reads here on the contrary, isn't painting what really happens in real life. I grew up having yoruba schoolmates and friends and it wasn't something awkward.

The problem are the Northerners especially the Hausa/Fulani/Kanuri. Their medieval mindset coupled with a false interpretation of their religion, is the major problem here.
I grew up in a yoruba household, full yoruba and i have Igbo and Hausa Friends (went to school with them) and i am telling you the truth, there's no such thing. SW is SW, "Southern" will never work, simple - it is bound to fail. they are not bound to the SE, just like they are not bound to the North.
We can manage this union or call it quits to whatever is holding us all hostage.
Igbos can finally improve their land and build on their business skills with no one chasing them out of their land . yorubas can build themselves and North can do whatever they want with their land.

Hmm.

truth be told, there is no Southern Nigeria. A northern NIgeria kills together, but Southern Nigeria continue to fight amongst themselves. You know what I want to see in a Southern Nigeria? Working together to develop a "Southern" Nigeria despite ethnicity.

SE is more worried about SE'ners  in the North, SW is more worried about SW'ners in the North. . . .  see how Nigeria is separated? Tell me, what's stopping the SW/SE/SS/MB leaders from working together to stop the North? You think if there was a South Nigeria, the killing would have extended this far?
This is true but some SE don't want to face this reality.

Beleive me,it is a love and hate relationship in reality that needs to split into three smiley.

SW needs to go so that it can discipline it's elders for all their wrong decisions first and also repair itself before even thinking of becoming one with anyone. Anyone can support a southern union but the reality is that it will NOT work. The evidence is there however subtle.
PoliticsRe: Why Can't Igbos Withdraw From The Enemy Territory? by coldhearts(f): 9:02pm On Apr 21, 2011
lets stop deceiving ourselves, there's no such thing as southerners, not sure why some want to hold us hostage to a union that is clearly not working  undecided, must be the oil money  smiley.
The minute we divide into North and South is the minute yorubas (SW) and Igbos (SE) will start their own fight (which is ongoing but subtle). I'm sure the north will help in liberating SW at the end of the day if it becomes too hard to do alone. We either manage the mess we're in or split along ethnic lines.

I really don't understand your pacifism. Are Yoruba sons and daughters not being killed in the North or should the number of deaths reach a certain magic number before OPC/Yorubas react?

Whilst violence should not be the solution, keeping quiet and hoping the problem goes away is not the solution. How many innocent people must die?
I see your point but why the call for such bloodshed by some?, t.it for tat serves none of you. Nobody wants to die for nothing and right now SW involvement can be equated to dieing for nothing.
The problem is more than SE, SS, NE, NW, there are no jobs, leaders are signing away our future, education and healthcare is in a state of possible collapse etc. Ask yourself, what do you want to fight forhuh? . Let everyone go and repair their land and stop wasting their energy.

Where do you people get this notion?. Yorubas in Jos alone are probably higher in number than hausas and Igbos. Yorubas control the taxi empire in the North and there aren't many of them there, duh!!!!
and your point ishuh?? if they are as many as you claim, then they don't have much to fear then.less damage.
No need to insult my ancestors, if you have misplaced anger issues, deal with it on your own or with the person you have problem with. That was then, this is now, it is not SW fight, get over it. It has to do with elections and people always react. get it?

Sometimes desperate measures are needed in desperate times. Hausa/Fulani continues to massacre at least 3000 Southerners every year since the Obasanjo regime and you still think that appealing to them to stop will do the magic?. The Jos carnage is every 6 months and count back to the last one and you will see it happen in Jos again. As a matter of fact, they will massacre more now that Jonathan is in power.
They were only killing Igbos/Ijaws/South Southerners before and the unaffected Yorubas and middle beltans kept quiet, they slowly shifted to killing all the Southerners and as if that was not enough, they've started killing middle beltans too. Where and when will it stop.

The USA took war to the Arabs because they will not let them relax and enjoy the blessings of a prosperous country God gave them and will you call that barbaric?. Should the US continue to appeal to Arabians to stop throwing bombs at them in the name of peace or send back fire for fire?. Should Israel allow Palestinians to continue killing them so an not to be called barbaric?.
By your logic, we might as well just kill ourselves, then who winshuh?. when it is all said and done, everyone remaining after generations of fighting would have forgotten who started it and what they were fighting about. Our leaders and foreigners would have looted the best out of us so go on and fight the north if you wish. Also, There aren't that many SW there to begin with plus we mostly avoid the North or try to blend in as muslim or whatever works.

I'm very sure our forefathers will be very disappointed in us now.Desendants of warriors shaking at the threat of awusa/fulani idiots.
If we retaliate once,kill like 5000 awusa/fulani in the SW,they go wise-up.
I hope you are joking, blood for blood - is that what you wanthuh, it cannot appease the damage done. You seriously sound like the igbos on NL yesterday - calling for revenge. Do you really think it is worth ithuh?.

We are not in the stone age when we fought wars and took prisoners, if there's a peaceful way to resolve issues, it must be used first and as many times as needed/recommended.

The Northerners are not all bad people ok. If i were you, i'd be more weary of our leaders mortgaging out the future of Nigeria than a fellow powerless nigerian.

sorry but SS/SE, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. If we were all doing well as a nation, then maybe i'd have said differently.

Personally i'm tired of both North and SE/SS, and all the SWesterners i know feel this way. pls Leave SW out of this.

Nigeria needs unity but so far we are simply drifting apart because we have leaders that will not stand up to help the nation or stick up for it. I think Nigeria needs more than just luck at this point.
Nigeria's problem is more than just SS/SE/NC etc but then again maybe a split will do just fine.

At the end of the day, it is not about igbo, hausa or yoruba; if igbo is doing well, good for them . Anyway, it looks like what we need is to peacefully have three seperate cultural regions governed by their own ethnic choice of candidate yet work together only militarily to protect our resource and land.

Since some of us cannot see beyond ethnicity (many of us are guilty of this), we are better off that way. I will like to see yoruba nation great again in my lifetime, i am still young so who knows cool.

Foreign AffairsRe: African Union Demands 'immediate' Halt To Libya Attacks by coldhearts(f): 9:03pm On Mar 20, 2011
@superbrain,
I see where you're coming from but i disagree with pushing people to the limit. Perhaps we should dialogue and try to find common grounds or even accept loss rather than push people to the limits.

BTW to say that African leaders only understand violence is not right cos the same can be said of European leaders - there's protest there from budget cuts to practically anything and brutal intimidation/treatment by the police on these students and protesters in general. now does that mean some other country should intervene when it gets worse- which it will.

Lastly, There's no govt without some opposition groups these days. Now i don't want to compare cos it's hard to know the real situation in libya or uk when the media simply blabs on these days.

My point still stands.Perhaps EU might want to go Iraq and show some responsibility there before creating a new mess- one that can end up very costly.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Union Demands 'immediate' Halt To Libya Attacks by coldhearts(f): 8:30pm On Mar 20, 2011
The comments by some here wont change what people already know and believe cos humans are not robots. Many remember Iraq.
http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2008/02/ted_zimbardo

It is not about Gaddaffi as much, it is about Sovereign nation, Europe/America and  Oil, not the mention to impact of displacement of the libyan people.
Europe doesn't have to be on African soil killing its people. Afghan and Iraq are a mess today, not to mention the financial meltdown in wall street.

AU finally got something right and hopefully they continue on the right path with international support. It is not about supporting the libyan leader, it is about doing things the right and lawful way including dialogue.

Libya is a sovereign country with a lot resources and invested interest so this leads to a dangerous action in an information age. I sense a slippery slope here-any country can go to another and bomb its leader/citizens based on its interest.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Union Demands 'immediate' Halt To Libya Attacks by coldhearts(f): 7:41pm On Mar 20, 2011
grin if AU is a joke, then so is the EU, and so is the UN wink cos if we can't act with restraint and dialogue as humans, then we are all jokes tongue.

and the corrupt-useless Afro-leaders forgot to talk Gadhafi to stop bombing his own people.

leaders and tomorrow dey will beg for food from whiteman.
First there is no govt that is spotless anywhere.  smiley
Africa has a lot of resources, they don't need to beg warmongering subhumans for food. They can cut the aid cos those come with too much inconveniences. Nevertheless, this is a slippery slope in the making. Any govt can take out any other govt  so europe ought to panic too shocked

America is poor, bankrupt, service industry with high unemployment and it can barely rescue itself. Now, do you really think it helps to create more poverty over in libya, soon those people will be like afghan - begging to eat, they will also become a burden to the rest of Africa/europe and america. They will get tired of those humanitanrian handouts and head to Europe-watch and see. It has always been that way.

African union is not perfect but the land is africa's, how will europeans feel if America or Asia or even russia goes to europe and take out their govt.  This is the beginning of a  slippery slope in the age of information. For the record, yes AU did try - they wanted dialogue and did not attend the no -fly zone meeting in paris cos they wanted dialogue first.

PoliticsRe: Nigerians: We Are Racists! by coldhearts(f): 7:08pm On Mar 09, 2011
NO, Nigerians are not racist --that is a fact. love it or hate it. We'll leave the racism crown to  our white friends

If you have seen white racism, you won't even compare e.g go to www.stormfront. Racism has not gone away and will not go away, it is a way of life/ mentally deranged delusional life. If all minorities practice racism half as much as these people, the world would cease to exist.

I sure know that i lived in Nigeria without an ounce of hate but then that can change if you are not careful in a place like UK and America- they are subjected to the most ridiculous form of hate and prejudice and this explains why some or few african american are the way they are i think.

Here's an example, i remember  8 yrs ago i took an employer exam, did exceptionally well (i was very qualified for it), the lady said i got the job and sent me to the branch closest to me for the job opened there. I went in and this fat white lady was asking me about elephant tusk in Nigeria shocked huh. I have never seen one lol, anyway, an innocent and polite me left that place knowing that i wasn't getting the job and no reason was given. By the way, they only had one other black person working there. Also i do know from friends about many more experiences of prejudice.

Yes , many Nigerians don't even bother complain to these so called instutions because there's only so much they can do- it is very pointless most times. We have many so called SILENT SUFFERERS  and they don't complain OK. By the way Nigerians by far have a college degree wherever they go in uk/usa for your info.

@OP and tae et all- if you're starting a racist call, start with our white friends. For the record,  it takes too much energy to be racist so why bother with that : )
