Romance › Re: Stupidity Or Love? by coldHeat: 11:24pm On Jun 12, 2015
Afrok:
This might be long...
Today when i was coming back from school, in front of my school gate where buses do load mile 3 passengers ( Uniport Choba gate), opposite the school gate is a primary school. In front of the primary school, i saw a lady and a guy fighting, the guy was punching the lady in the open which generated attention from passers-by. Three ladies coming out from AOG junction ran towards them, myself and a guy did same and we separated the fight momentarily.

What is the problem? The lady said the guy must return her phone, while the guy insisted with serious beating (fight continued) that he'll give her the phone tomorrow. Ok! Why did u seize her phone? The guy said he saw something on her phone ( note, they're dating). Funniest thing was that the lady is convoking tomorrow, because her convocation gown and cap were scattered on the ground.

Another guy came and was ready to fight the boyfriend in order to collect the phone for d girl, they started fighting and the girl immediately separated them and told the other guy to leave, saying she doesn't want her phone again. I became angry and told others to leave them alone, the lady packed her stuffs and left while the guy took another direction. The lady's mouth was bleeding and her face swollen, whereas, the guy had bruises of finger nails on his neck.

I know d guy acted like a beast by beating the girl not even in the public, but my question is, how can a sane lady behave like that too? From my observation, the guy doesn't look responsible to me for those that'll think maybe the guy is rich.

Picture crew, sorry no picture coz i wasn't with a good phone to snap with.
Whether it be stupidity or love, we shall let time decide.

The lady has her reasons why she decided to stay with such a child. The child has his reasons why he would punch a lady in public over nothing.

And while they are both old enough to make their own decisions, I must say a lot of women are afraid pf being left alone without a man to call their own. They often use a relationship to define their self-esteem and their overall worth.

Only a child will do this, but then again how many mature women and men are out there?

The problem is we do not choose who we fall in love with or get attracted to.

I have noticed that sometimes it has to do with the other person wielding a strength that we often desire secretly (example a shy lady falling for an outspoken, confident guy).

If only all males would behave like the men that their sex organs define them to be.
Romance › Re: My GF Is Cheating On Me With A Soldier, I Want 2go To The Barrack & Confront Him by coldHeat: 11:09pm On Jun 12, 2015
Secrets11:
From a male LIB reader (who wants to die soon...lol). Read below...
This is really a serious situation for me and I would need the advice of my fellow LIB's. I found out that my girlfriend of 2 years has been cheating on me with a soldier and I'm planning to go and warn him at the barracks. Should I go or not? S. Source: http://lindaikeji..co.uk/2015/06/dear-lib-readers-my-gf-is-cheating-on.html?utmsource=feedburner&m=1
I am afraid you are missing it.

The problem is not with your girlfriend or the soldier, my friend.

The problem here is you.

If you treat a woman well, cherish her, excite her emotions positively and make her feel like a queen there is no way she will ever go looking for someone else to call her king.

Dude you haven't been doing your classwork and home work well, consequently, your relationship is now out of class and your woman is going to another man's home for some intimate and emotional relations.

Confront your woman, if she apologizes, forgive her and try and make you relationship work. Be a man of respect, vision and resolution, make her happy and cherish her. If she still decides to play around and take you for granted in-spite of all this, then leave her be, after all, trash belongs in a dustbin, not in your heart.

Foolishness would be to warn a soldier without any authority conferred on you. If you had said you were going to trade words with the guy I would have encouraged you to, but the method to your current madness I fear will not help matters at all. Warning him would not stop her from going after him, as he is treating her better than you are currently doing.

A lot of women are often in love with how a man makes them feel; not necessarily how much they love the man. She's probably just going to him to get high on her own supply of emotions ('epileptic emotional excitation' I call it), this is childish for any lady and it depicts a desire to be in love with the feeling of being in love without any necessary resolve or decision to stick with the lover through thick and thin. If this be the case you can also re-woo her as well and win her back.

Confronting and threatening a man who has been heavily drilled in combat training would have only one possible future realized - the one in which you will be blocking his punches and slaps with nothing but your bare face.

And whilst I would not wish that for you, that would be one hell of an interesting and amusing outcome.

Ciaossu!
Romance › Re: Which Is The Easiest Way To A Mans Heart? by coldHeat: 10:49pm On Jun 12, 2015
I guess it depends on the man.

For Adam it was his eyes; he saw Eve and invented Poetry in that instant.

For others it may be whatever provokes or tickles their fancy. For me I guess I am moved and stimulated by thought-provoking ideas and enlightenment.

May I humbly state that sex can never be a way to a man's heart, which is the core of his spirit-being.

In summary, there is no sure way to a man's heart but I do know the sure-fire way to a man's mumu button is his ego. Stroke it, feed it and viola! - a new mumu has been born!

I often make use of my phone in the toilet most times to read history and many other things, this makes me stay long and people complain, some even accuse me of masturbation which I don't do.I have tried to stop this act but I just can't...it started wayback before phone came I always go to the toilet to read newspapers and novels because I don't want disturbance from people. but now it has become a habit I can't stop, what's your take?
my take on what exactly - that you can't be man enough and assume control of your life and do away with such an usual habit (that you have labeled as "unstoppable"wink?

You are a man, not a child, act accordingly!

If you are not proud of the act then stop it immediately; if you are then you don't need the opinionated thoughts of others to use as a yardstick to redefine your actions because such is childish.

If when reading in public people disturb you, can't you just caution them or leave the environment to a quieter one, without going to a larvatory? There are a lot of serene environments you can find yourself.

Geez!!!

If you choose to continue with such an act then please do, just don't come in here and start asking for advice from people on such mundane activity. Only a child will do such. A man on the other hand, will always assume control without going to a forum to ask for expert advice.

The fact that some people are accusing you of self service makes the mind wonder how old you really are. No one would accuse a man (or someone who acts like one) of such a thing...

Nairaland General › Re: Is It A Sin To Go To Church With Your Phone Charger???? by coldHeat: 5:07pm On Jun 12, 2015
My dear good Stanislaus17:

You question your actions as to whether they are a violation of morals and spiritual ethics, then you assume almost everyone is guilty of your sin, whilst justifying the actions of the supposed sinners by blaming a failed Government system, then you ask us all to air our thoughts on the issue (of which majority of us have been labelled 'sinners' by your process of deductive reasoning).

If by some feat i prove to you its a sin, would it stop you from taking your phone charger to your church building?

And peradventure I do prove it is not, would it stop you from doing the same if your phone battery is low?

Why don't you bring up the question in your church this next sunday during the service and see what your clergyman would say...

The thing is some Questions do not simply have a yes or no answer.

This happens to be one of them. In a bid to seek out a uniform answer you will encounter countless ideas and ideals. Why don't you render an action as your heart tells you.

It also appears you started this thread to seek for an expression of thoughts from others and not necessarily answers.

If you seek the desired traffic to a thread you create I am sure there are better questions and opinionated reasoning that would not only tickle the fancy of other high-spirited nairalanders but provoke them to air schools of thought that would also stimulate your thinking aptitude (and mine) as well. The use of such to created a thread would reveal to you the attention and traffic you need to start a somewhat never-ending, interesting game of circles that is conversation.

And if you would by all means have me answer the question I would say "no"; you can charge your phone in the church as long as it does not distract the attention of the majority of solution-seekers that attend the service. May I suggest switching off the phone whilst it charging? Not only would it make the batter charge twice or thrice as fast but it would also prevent unnecessary calls and texts from catching the attention of others and after you finish charging, provide space for other phone-battery-chargers like yourself.

i wish i could get me a phone of 6.5 inches, quadcore, 2 gig ram, 1920 by 1080 resolution, super AMOLED screen with corning gorilla screen with dual (windows 8.1 and android 5.0) OS. Now that would really be it for me.

Anything larger with the same specs and i can quietly dump my laptop and have it with me anywhere I go for a better, smoother workflow.

A 5.5 inch phone would be a little too small for me (when you use tablets for so long you get used to the size). But still it would be way better than a 5 inch.

Take it or no any screen size less than 6 inches does not provide an awesome browsing experience. Especially with those less than HD resolution.

How great are the mighty fallen!

I remember 3 years back how people would argue that BlackBerry will forever remain the best and highest selling mobile phone manufacturers (even though it was obvious android was fast gaining momentum and popularity) and how we told them that their decline in sale and relevance was inevitable...

now...viola!

This is what happens when you refuse to adapt to the changing times faster than your compeitors; you will wake up one day and find urself a relic of the past. Nokia, kodak, yahoo! (yahoo messenger) have similar stories to tell as well.

If only BlackBerry had brought out their OS 10 3 or 4 years ago, the future - history would have been different.
I hope we all can take the time to learn from the mistakes of others.

i find it very hard to believe that a woman who's essence reeks of intelligence and enlightenment would resort to taking selfies of herself in a public toilet, all in bid to be perceived as beautiful.

Not to mention uploading the picture showing another woman's unclothedness...

But then again, Albert Einstein once said "The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits..."
Romance › Re: Is It A Man's World ? by coldHeat:
grad2012:
A man sleeps around, marries more than one wife and is praised for it, but a woman marries more than one husband and sleeps around and she's condemned and called foul names for it.

Is it a man's world ?
misssclassy:
Of course it is.

A man sleeps around and he is called a player. A woman does the same and she is seen as a _whore.

A man spends money and lives large and he is seen as hard-working and he is accorded respect, but when a woman lives in affluence, she becomes seen as someone who must be keeping many boyfriends or someone who is living off numerous men.

Look around you. The world structures have been organized to favor men. Political structures, Economic structures, Cultural structures and Religious structures all elevate the male gender above the female.

History itself has been written in favor of the male gender.

It's such a shame.
It truly is a man's world. I say this as an answer to the OP. Structures have been put in place to consciously elevate the male gender above the female, and this has been on for thousands of years. Several reasons have been given, but most of them tend to see the women folk as either helpless, stupid, senseless and weak beings or as prized possessions to be given away via marriage, conquest or sport. It is even worse in some cultures and countries as some women are less important than actual personal belongings to some men. To say it is mentally insulting is to say the least.

But this structure was not placed overnight or over-century; women have somehow been brainwashed to believe they are inferior to their male counterparts. They are told most times they have nothing much to offer the world save their beauty and their body.

The sad thing about a lie is if you keep hearing it again and again and again (in a packaged way, handed down to you by your ancestors and society) you will find yourself believing it. The minds of women have been corrupted with this false mindset; that they are irrelevant in the grander scheme of ruling and controlling this world.

Even in cinema you see a guy who saves the world and gets a beautiful babe handed to him at the end of the film (almost like she's a gift for his troubles), they kiss and the movie ends. We grow up watching such, believing every man is a hero of importance and every woman is helpless, unable to save herself and even the world from the fangs of corruption. Lets not even talk about adverts where women are used to advertise cars like if a man buys a car he will get a lady free, like seriously?!?

But what can be done to stop this trend?

Firstly women need to be more self-aware. They need to understand themselves, know themselves and come to terms with their bodies, their emotions, their self-esteem and their existence.

They need to believe in themselves and not allow themselves or their purpose be dictated by society (which may just be a bunch of ignoramus over-aged children clinging desperately to their supposed 'way of life'). Women need to stop objectifying themselves and selling themselves cheap. A lady shaking her bum to a whizkid's video for 10k can never expect to be respected by the same guys that she shamelessly sells her dignity to (in a bid to make ends meet).

Women also need to invest more in their brains, they need to task their minds more and invest less on their bodies (which can never ever truly win the war they hopelessly wage against the phenomenon we call "aging (which is a woman's greatest enemy)". They should study more, reason more and gossip less, also spend less time in things that stimulate an epileptic state of emotional excitation.

A woman who can only spend all she has to have a beautiful face to match her empty head can never be taken seriously.

It is only when women show men they can academically do everything their male counterparts can and be on par with them as per intelligence, self-control and maturity, that the men can then decide to be less of the children they are and share the reins of global and societal control and governing.

But this may not happen overnight, it may take time, perhaps decades, but if women sell themselves well (beauty fused with intelligence, like a good product needs no hard sell) the men will have no choice but to acknowledge their power and give them a chance.

This is already happening in countries like England, Germany and Liberia (to say it is already happening here in naija goes without saying)

Nice post sir but please bear in mind the medulla oblongata is responsible for involuntary movement, the part of the brain u were probably referring to is the cerebrum or cerebral cortex (if I can remember).

People who keep mentioning the medulla oblongata obviously have no idea what it referring to.
starlingslimnet:
If I am right you expects me to say the cerebrum right? Of course not,it will be a grammatical blunder rendering my English useless. Cerebrum Though a seat of intelligence have No power whatsoever to reject information but Medulla oblangata on the other hands has the power to rejects information Since it's directly independent of the brain.Perhaps her reasoning could have told her to keep quiet but the muscle of her mouth being under the control of the medulla rejects such info or paracommand. The verb used determine the efiemal of your language.
First of all dear good sir I noticed your command of written english is very poor. I suggest you invest some of your time polishing it. I have helped you outline the errors so you can take note and acquaint yourself with a better use of grammar.

It also appears you are in a rush to play with and joggle big words; perharps this is a newly found means of self expression, or perhaps you have decided to walk the path of others who mix latin and other dead phrases all in a cheap bid to bamboozle others with their own thesaurus of which the application can never be accepted or found in any english-speaking society. Your sentences are riddled with grammatical errors and sentences that I find very difficult to understand.

For example when you said
The verb used determine the efiemal of your language.
, can you care to elucidate (cos this sentence makes no sense to me at all)? (Medulla Oblongata is not a verb and the word "efiemal" cannot be found on google search; simply because it is not an english word and is not in any english dictionary. If it can be found, please send us the URL of the online dictionary so we can check it out. I personally would be very much obliged).

Either way, your choice to communicate in this manner is your own, but for the sake of others trying to understand your ideas and ideals, may I humbly recommend words that are easy to understand or that can be easily referenced on a dictionary. After all, communication is a game of circles and the number one rule for an easy game is the mode of transfer of information should be simple and understandable.

One more thing, when next you want to ramble on about science, please do your research. Else it would portray you as one who hasn't done his homework and does not know his onions. Your school of thought that "the Medulla Oblongata has the power to reject information since its independent of the brain" is flawed and wrong. Here is proof to support my claim (if you have any proof to support yours please let us know with the appropriate URLs so we can verify).

The medulla oblongata is located in the brain stem, anterior to (in front of) the cerebellum. This is a cone-shaped, neuronal (nerve cell) mass in the hindbrain, which controls a number of autonomic (involuntary) functions.

This section of the brain helps transfer messages to the spinal cord and the thalamus, which is in the brain, from the body. The main function of the thalamus is to process information to and from the spinal cord and the cerebellum.

The medulla oblongata helps regulate breathing, heart and blood vessel function, digestion, sneezing, and swallowing. This part of the brain is a center for respiration and circulation. Sensory and motor neurons (nerve cells) from the forebrain and midbrain travel through the medulla.

The medulla oblongata receives its blood supply from several arteries, including the anterior spinal artery, posterior inferior cerebellar artery, and the vertebral artery's direct branches.
