Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka yesterday played host to the Acting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, legal luminaries as well as law teachers nationwide.

The State Governor led the acting President to UNIZIK for the 50th Anniversary Conference of Nigerian Association of Law Teachers. Interestingly the theme of the conference is "Law, SECURITY and National Development"

These eminent personalities converged at the "University of all times" for the 50th conference of the Nigeria Association of Law Teachers (NALT) with the focus on"Law, Security and National Development".

Declaring the conference open, Prof. Osinbajo asserted that Nigerians are bedeviled with serious challenges which include the Boko Haram, tensions in the Niger Delta, herdsmen-farmer clashes, threats of secession, poverty, unemployment and corruption.

He faulted the inability of the state to create an inclusive society under existing constitutional arrangements, to guarantee the security of lives, liberties by the agencies charged with maintaining law and order and to build trust around the rule of law and the system of administration of justice, as the premise of the persistent agitations.

In his words,
“First, on the matter of inclusion and inequalities, there is little doubt in my mind that the provision of the basics of life to the largest number of our people remains the greatest source of tension in the polity.

“The daily struggles of many, for healthcare, a means of livelihood and the absence of a socially just means of ensuring that many, especially young people, have access to education and jobs provides a constantly replenished pool of young malcontents, ready to be recruited into any sort of Army, whether it be of kidnappers, terrorists, or violent or antisocial agitation for one cause or the other.

“Besides, the constant agitation for share of national resources, is a product of individual-elite- deprivation, taken up by ethnic nationalities and socio-cultural groups. Each group views the other with suspicion when it comes to matters of resources, and government appointments.

“As it is at the Federal level, so it is at the State level. In my state for example, the Egba and Ijebus in Ogun State are constantly arguing over who is getting a better deal in government appointments or infrastructural development.

“Unfortunately, in order to give our campaigns greater acceptability and resonance, we often characterize them as ethnic or religious agitation. The right to a decent existence, to education, healthcare or jobs must not depend on how loudly my ethnic or religious group agitates; no, these are my rights as a citizen of Nigeria.

“It is the failure of the State to deliver on these essentials of life and livelihood that compels our people to run to their tribal and religious camps to seek succour by way of agitation for basic rights and services.

“Unfortunately, it is the same elite especially the political elite, who fail the people by the wastage and embezzlement of their funds who are at the forefront of pretending that their deprivations are caused by other ethnic nationalities.

His Excellency Governor Willie Obiano commissioned the First Anambra Automated Vehicle Inspection Centre Awka. The hardworking and innovative Governor in his welcome speech promised to equip the VIO manpower with about 100 personnels, which will in turn create direct employment for teeming Ndi Anambra youths.

The commissioning of the first and modern computerized vehicle testing /inspection service in the South Eastern region, was held at Okpuno Awka. It is reported that the Onitsha and Nnewi centres are well under way.

Contrary to reports suggesting that Governor Obiano sent some persons to the United States to celebrate the graduation, sources within the Government have dismissed the allegations as untrue, unfounded and the work of mischief makers.

"Each time Gov Obiano gets honoured outside Anambra, Enemies of Progress go on rampage claiming he has sponsored the whole State to attend. Same way they were claiming that the Governor chattered an airplane at Enugu, until I bursted their dishonourable Lies

Today, same fellas are let loose like hungry maggots will bolt out of an uncorked bottle on sighting fresh faeces, to feast on the Glorious News that the daughter of our dear Governor is graduating.

It's true that with the unprecedented laudable achievements of Gov Obiano in just 3 years in Anambra, the opposition has nothing to offer except lies and unfounded rumours.

While I state categorically that Governor Obiano did not sponsor anyone not to talk of the 179 persons as peddled by these boys, I am concerned about the future of these young dudes who are now turned into attack dogs.

Graduation is one feat celebrated by parents who are proud of their children's success... My parents did! If yours didn't, then you failed them!

It hurts to know that the boys circulating these rumours either did not attend any higher institution or they failed along the way due to irrational reasoning and the few that graduated, lacked the proper guidance to live a noble life, hence this pitiable life of e-thuggery.

The event held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja was organized by Daily Times Newspaper, and coincided with its ninety first anniversary, had distinguished personalities of note in attendance.

The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano represented by his deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke was once again decorated alongside other Nigerian greats at the Times Heroes Awards 2017 held yesterday at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

This is another worthy feather on the cap of governor Obiano of Anambra State who has been adjudged as the Governor of the Year at Sun Awards 2015; 2016 Vanguard Personality of the Year Awards; 2016 New Telegraph Outstanding Performance Awards; to mention but a few in addition to emerging as the Winner of Zik's Prize for Good Governance, 2015 and the Silverbird Man of the Year 2016.

The attention of the Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency, ANSAA has been drawn to the illegal posting of posters by unidentified persons believed to be sponsored by enemies of the State.

These posters do not only deface our environment but derail the government's effort to give us befitting cities with world class infrastructures and highly aesthetic junctions and round about as well as divert the vital revenue due to the State Government.

Thus, we wish to state categorically that anyone caught engaging in incessant pasting of posters of any kind within Anambra State without permission of the signage agency will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Henceforth, any information leading to the identification and/or arrest of the miscreants, the printers or their sponsors shall be handsomely rewarded.

Politicians and others alike should seek the approval of the agency (by paying the necessary fees) before printing and pasting posters and when granted, should post such posters at only designated points.

Parents and guardians are by this notice advised to hold back their wards from being the unfortunate "poster boys" as no one will be spared by the law if caught in the act of pasting or printing such posters.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

The wife of Governor of Anambra State, Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano has charged women to embrace small scale agriculture as a business and a means of sustenance.

The governors' wife, stated this in a presentation on ''Agriculture as a small scale Business ", at the 5Th Southern Governors Wives Forum (SGWF), held from May 10-12, 2017 at Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Mrs Obiano described agriculture as a good venture for sustainable economic development which has become increasingly popular amongst Nigerians and can be undertaken by women not only to put food on the table but also to improve their financial status.

She said;

"Going into agriculture as a small scale ‎venture means you are doing it in a small way. You can start a garden from the small portion of land at your back yard which can yield different types of vegetables. Remove a section of the interlocked compound and grow tomatoes; start fish farming or even snail rearing and earn some income."

When viewing faces people report the left side of the face to be more expressive than the right, according to a study recently published in Brain and Cognition.

Facial expressions are mostly controlled by an area of the brain known as the premotor cortex which sends signals to other parts of the brain. Control of the lower two thirds of the face is contralateral, meaning that the right hemisphere controls the left side of the face and the left hemisphere has control of the right side of the face. The right hemisphere of the brain is reported to be more involved in emotion processing compared to the left, leading to greater emotional expression being displayed on the left side of the face.

It has been reported that when posing for a portrait or photograph, as humans we prefer to turn so that our left side is being offered, this effect is seen across males and females. One explanation for this is that humans instinctively know that their left side expresses more emotion. This phenomenon is known as the ‘left cheek bias’.

Although it is understood that the left side of the face is more expressive, little is known about what characteristics of the face cause us to perceive more emotion.

Nearly 14 years after the last flight of the Concorde, Supersonic air travel is back in fashion. The Virgin-backed Boom project, aims to get passengers from London to New York in 3.5 hours and they want to ensure you enjoy every minute of the ride.

This sleek jet would cruise at Mach 2.2 (or 1,451 miles per hour), 10 percent faster than the Concorde and about 2.6 times faster than other commercial jets that airlines fly today.

The proposed cabin is plush, with a 1-1 configuration each passenger would get direct aisle access, a nice view from a large window and a personal overhead bin for carry-on luggage. The seats are similar to short-haul first-class seats and more luxurious than long-haul premium economy.

The company also promises a smoother flight than any commercial planes today, avoiding turbulence by cruising as high as 60,000 feet:
“Our goal is to provide a tranquil and stress-free experience from the moment you step aboard, whether you want to work, play, or relax,” Boom says on its website.

In honour of the past International Women’s Day in which I appreciate all positive women in my Life, but I still need to drop my point of view on this trending matter #WifeNotCook.

I am of course prepared for any criticism this post will encounter, but I spark a debate by implying “real women know how to cook.” I stand here to say that Wives /Ladies who don’t know how to cook are Lazy personified which is why I wrote this with a very strong convictions and reasons both biblical and societal.

I find it very irresponsible that some women go to the salon or visit friends for a whole Sunday to gossip and cannot find time to prepare those Meals that can make a Man Sneak From A Football Match Just For A Bite.

You will agree with me that there are women over 19 who do not know how to prepare Good Meals, but can dance to different kinds of music in clubs. I mean, a Woman Should Learn How To Cook Before She Can Taste Alcohol Or Bend Over In Clubs.

The bigger scandal is that women born after 1980 cannot prepare proper meals to sustain a marriage. Now we have a generation of men who will never know the healthy and spiritual benefits of a proper homemade meal.

Back in the day, women were expected to know how to cook. We can thank the almighty social media for exposing us to the over sharing of personal information. I have witnessed women brag about not knowing how to cook. And some of them take pride in being modern women who went on to obtain “DEGREES” instead of learning to bake. I've also been no stranger to bearing witness to full-blown debates between women who could cook versus the women who couldn't.

Lets Get Back To History
[/b]At least one common cause of the housework gap can be traced back to childhood chores. A variety of studies have found that girls are asked to do more work around the house than boys. One study found that girls did two more hours of chores a week while boys got twice as much time to play. This dynamic carries a lesson for both genders: girls learn that housework falls on their shoulders, and boys learn that girls will clean up after them.

It is indeed true that most religious and traditional doctrines stipulate that the man is head of the family and the woman should be submissive. But we both know domestic laziness does not make the man head, just as ability and willingness to cook does not make the woman submissive.

Anyone who eats should be able and willing to cook. It’s only fair that way.
