Education / Chimel Dogara Awarded In Cambridge For Outstanding Performance by comradee1248: 5:27pm On Nov 29, 2015
Daughter of the Nigerian Speaker House of Reps Chimel Dogara was awarded as the student of the week for a very brilliant and outstanding performance at the Abbey College of Cambridge University, UK

Proudly Zaarite

Chimel was nominated by her English teacher Nigel Tattersfield for her recent piece of homework which was an example of really wonderful writing, showing evidence of the wide reading and a clear understanding of the context of the time ‘The Awakening’ was written.

Education / Facts To Know About IJMB Programme by comradee1248: 4:23pm On Nov 28, 2015
I m not advertising any School non this post, but it pains me the youths writing JAMB year after year without securing University admission, while there is a shortcut to get direct entry in 200level using IJMB,

I know is Information is power

(1) IJMB Interim Joint Admission and Matriculation Board programme is run by Ahamadu Bello Univ Zaria
(2) Its a 16 month programme that will get u in to 200L in all the Northern Universities, and some in the south
(3) Unlike JAMB, IJMB does not expire, you can use it even after 5years, but its not for job, its strictly for admission in to 200l the University
(4) In IJMB programme you only have a combination of 3 subjects that will suit the course of uя choice
(5) The grading of IJMB is on points and it goes thus A=5points, B=4points, C=3points, D=2points E=1point while F=0point and 1 free point provided you don't have any F in the result, s the end of the grading is over 15
(6) Most universities that accept IJMB programme offer admission in to 200L with a minimum of 6 point provided there is no F in the result
(7) Full IJMB programmes lectures run in polytechnics, college of education and other A level tertiary institutions, while the final exams comes from ABU Zaria
(cool Most universities that accept IJMB prefer IJMB candidates with good grades before other programmes like NCE Diploma in to direct entry 200L admission
(9) IJMB also offers O level subjects that is WAEC standard in only 2 subjects English and Mathematics, to facilitate your admission, so that means if you don't have either English or Mathematics or both but have other O level subject you can be admitted in to IJMB and @ the final exams you also seat for the subjects you don't have (there are intensive lectures to cover those O level subjects)

Do not Dull uя self sitting @ home and writing JAMB year after year without securing admission, find a higher institution that offers the programme and enrol..

Best wishes to those that will give it a trial.

Career / Re: Revealed: Practices In Nigerian Banks That Will Shock You by comradee1248: 6:38pm On Nov 20, 2015
maximunimpact:
The Nigerian banking work environment has recently gained the attention of powers that be, people are beginning to ask questions about some actions and in-actions of top managements in commercial banks especially policies that has to do with welfare of its employees and unrealistic targets placed on them.

Well this article is not about “targets”, as that has to be a story for another day. This is about some of the practices that happens in the bank that you never knew exists. It is true that every organization out there have rules of engagement which employees must abide by and to the best of my knowledge this is standard practice.

But why would you be interested to know what happens in the bank behind the scene in the first place? Let’s say you gave your neighbor some good amount of money to keep, and all of a sudden your beloved neighbor started upgrading his kitchen aroma, and you notice some change in the standard of living, wouldn’t you get worried about your money? Yes you do want to know what happens behind the banking hall! We are talking about people whose custody our money lies.

In this piece am going to enumerate some of the practices both written and unwritten policies which guides bankers in the discharge of their duties. Anyway since our lawmakers are investigating bank managements, I will help them speed up the process for quicker result (pun intended).

The following are my personal experience over the years in the industry:

BANKERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO OWN ACCOUNTS IN OTHER BANKS: Bank employees are not allowed to operate bank accounts in other commercial banks, this is to enable them know everything about your financial standing. If you previously own accounts before your appointment, it is expected that you declare them. But make sure you are not making false declaration or else the CCT will be your guest (pun intended).

YOUR ACCOUNT BALANCE MUST BE PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR MONTHLY SALARY: While you are expected to save all your money in one account in your bank, it is expected that your balance at any time should be proportional to your salary. What this means is that if your salary is N100,000 and you have just worked for only six months and then your balance is N800,000, you may be inviting a beaming searchlight over your head. It will not be long until a query is issued demanding explanation for the indiscrepencies. Well there is nothing wrong about this practice, we are talking about peoples’ money here, and great care must be taken to safeguard it.

YOU CANNOT JUST LIVE ABOVE YOUR MEANS: Closely related to the above, maybe you are a big boy before your appointment and just few months with the bank you want to show off your expensive cars, jewelries, clothes and all the good things of life; you may be queried or reprimanded about your extravagance and if you are too big to contain, the bank may have to let you go.

YOU CANNOT MARRY YOUR CO-WORKER: This may not be news to you anyway, relationships are permitted among employees, albeit with slight oversight; but when it is tilting towards marriage, one of the pairs may have to consider resignation. There is nothing to worry about this buddy, it’s all about protecting our money, you never can tell what happens between husband and wife because the bond is so strong that the bank cannot contain.

YOUR BOSS CAN MAKE OR MARE YOU
: In the bank there are three ways of doing things; the right way, the wrong way and the boss’s way. Believe me when I say doing things the right way cannot always guarantee your promotion or professional well-being, doing it the wrong way is not an option either, but I guarantee you will be much safer doing it ‘the bosses’ way”. You want to know why bosses’ way supersedes the right way? Try read the book “48 laws of power” and you will understand why your boss is always right. It was fun watching my boss peeing in his pants at the sight of his boss, at that point back then I will be feeling like “how does it feel boss? It is like a circle, it goes around. Everyone have a boss, and that is how it works. The most dangerous part of this arrangement is that your promotion is to a large extent in the hands of your boss.

THERE ARE PROFESSIONAL STAFF AND NON-PROFESSIONAL STAFF: This is one bitter pill hard to swallow. The bank refers to their employees as “professional staff” while the contract staff are called “support staff”. These support staff are mainly the HND and OND recruits through outsourcing companies. These set of employees are like “second class citizens” in the scheme of things and their opinion may not count that much. One funny question a colleague was asking then was: how can you call me an unprofessional staff and expect me to behave professional? Well if you fall into this category of bankers, you have no choice but to be professional in attending to customers even though you are not a professional staff.

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ACCEPT TIPS FROM CUSTOMERS: This is one policy that is almost impossible to abide by. What? I should not accept a token of appreciation from my hard work? There are so many names given to tips, some call it thank you sir (TYS) others call it COT (cost of transaction) while up North our brothers call it nagwode. You can call it all you want but we are all saying the same thing! The bank says you should not accept it except during festive period. And even when the collection mode is activated, there is a limit to how much you can accept. I bet from the MD to the cleaner, everyone has once broken this rule.

TELLERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE WITH THEIR PHONES DURING BANKING HOURS: You can call it “standard practice” all you want, but the impact is great. Tellers or any staff that deals on cash transactions are not permitted to be in custody of their cell phones between the hours of 8.00AM – 4.00PM, this rule is made for the safety of customers. A case study is when a customer was rubbed after withdrawal, the customer came back and accused the teller of informing the criminals about the withdrawal simply because the teller was answering a call during the transaction. This singular incident gave birth to this rule till this day! Fair right? Yes it’s all for the safety of customers and to be more attentive to the job, cell phones can be a big distraction if not tamed.

BANKERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ACTIVELY RUN ANOTHER BUSINESS
: It’s simply loyalty! The bank demands an undivided loyalty and commitment from their employees. In some of their staff handbook, there is a clause that insinuates a bank staff is not allowed to get involved in any business that will demand an active presence. If you must invest in other business, make sure it does not in any way interfere with your duties in the bank, or else you may have to consider doing it full time.

YOUR INTEGRITY WILL BE TESTED EVERY WEEK: The word “integrity” is like the love and vow couple confess to each other during marriage, to make the bond stronger the words “i love you” is often used to show continued commitment to the bond. Your integrity is not a one-off thing, it needs to be tested always for a continued relationship between you and your bank. The moment your integrity is in doubt, a divorce is imminent. How do they carry out this test? Well it can come in different forms, in order to remain in business with the bank you must declare all your “overages” and “shortages” accordingly. Again this is standard practice, you do not want a thief to be in custody of your money.

These facts are not necessarily bad practices, but it is for the sake of informing aspiring bankers what is obtainable in the system. So you still want to be a banker? You better start getting used to these rules.

Romance / Re: How I Dealt With Halimat For Threatening My Life For Breaking Up With Her by comradee1248: 8:51pm On Nov 15, 2015
(1)I told her she claimed she loved me but even though I resisted all her plans to make me fu*ck her, but any time we have any problem she starts threatening my life..... So is this what she called love?? Is that how to love?? Halimat knelt down begged me with tears that she'll never do that again i said no problem its alright, she become happy and lively again as we continue jisting I told her that I've not finished there is another reason No (2) I told he that a friend of mine has been Bleep*ing her even last night she was in his house, she was a little bit shocked but flatly denied, she said the guy only took her out and he's never Fu*ck her, I then told her the number of times with dates she sleeps in that guy's house (the number 1 serial player). Halimat became so shocked to her bone marrow, she tried to hide the shock and also claimed its a blackmail coz she refuse to sleeps with him, she threaten to deal with the guy for ever trying to blackmail her, she was fuming like an angry lion.... I said its alright I believe her as she was becoming relaxed I also said there is reason

No (3) Halimat became pale, eagerly waiting to hear what I will say like some 1 in the hot seat of "Who wants to be a Millionaire" like uя in 500k and about to either win 1million naira or fall back to 250k u have taken the risk and uя waiting for the answer from Mr Frank Idoho... I told her how she's spending weekends in 1 of her town guy (Auchi) I mentioned his name and he's also my friend... I can't even explain how Halimat's face turned very white like no blood in her face, by this time she has given up and she was confused on what next to do.

For me to avoid further trouble I said to her, despite all this I still love her but certain conditions must be met.

(1) She must be a complete good girl, no more threats to any guy's life again, no more trying to play a smart 1, gathering Bleep*ing mates, she has to shake off my friends she's Bleep*ing (I already know they also have nothing to do with her again)

(2) I would like arrange myself b4 we'll continue so I want her to stay away from me no calls no anything, I don't even 1 to see her, for @least 12 weeks by then I've arrange myself to continue the affairs with her....

She has no option but to agree to my terms coz she has no idea what I may do after the 12weeks,

I stood up and paid for the soft drinks, gave her 1k for okada and leave her sitting down so shocked and weeping out crocodile tears, I enter my car and zoom off,

The next time I saw Halimat again was after 3years @ Badagry beach with some yori-yori boys with trousers in their buttocks, when she saw me, I was with my wife of 2 months old marriage then, she immediately turn her face as if she saw something dangerous, and behave as if she didn't see me @ all... I smiled and we pass.... And that was it........

the next day me and my friend met with another colleague of ours, (another serial player) told him the story, he also offer to help in the set up, I gave her number to him, as the guy was trying to store the number lo and behold the number is on his phone, A girl he 1nce describe to us as a very nice and good girl from his home town (Auchi), in fact even as a player he sees her as a girl that he can't play with her emotions, coz he has already fallen in love with her..... The guy was so shocked because she some times spend weekends in his house and gives her good money as he would give his sister or the girl he loved,

I now know in have a good plan, I can make her leave me from her guilt

So I called Halimat and told her to meet me in an eatery.... When we met @ the eatery I told her that I loved her but there is no way me and her can go out, coz of some things, her colour started changing like a viper, she was about to start being violent I then told her to cool down and consider the following facts on ground...

I didn't take that threat as a joke, The next day I met a friend of mine @ work a serial player to the core, I told him the whole story and he agreed to help me in setting her up so that she'll let me be, I gave him her number, he advice me to play along call her and apologised behave as if its alright I won't dump her any longer, I called her and settled with her, but I refuse to let her enter my house, I only took her out to an eatery we jisted their for some time, the next day my friend the player told me that he has already start talking to her on phone and she agreed to go to his house, she went to the house and he told her to pass the night and she agreed, that day he fu*ck the hell out of her, my friend told me the girl is like a female horse she's doesn't get tired @ all,

When she finish cooking, the food did not even look pleasant for my liking my brother tested it and say its a concoction, as we. Were jisting me her and my bros, she tried all she could to show my bros to excuse us, so she can have her way, I told him in our local language not to leave, she became angry and when she was leaving she didn't carry her handbag that she's coming back in the evening I told he let her just carry it I'll also go out and may be come back mid night, she knew something was wrong coz I don't drink, go to club or do anything that will make me stay outside @ night... She agreed to carry her bag I gave her transport to go home, I thank her for the food she cooked and she left, my Brother advice me to dispose her off as soon as possible if not she'll try to blackmail me... She called me in the evening, I was I my house but I told her I was not @ home, I instructed my gateman not to let her in, in case she try forcing her way, she peeped through the gate my car was parked inside she said I was lying I was @ home and with another girl that's why I refuse to open the gate for her, I ended the call, she continue calling I refuse to pick.... The next day Halimat called me and promise she was going to deal with me, she will make sure I regret dumping her, she said she'll go to my office and tell my boss that I raped her, I told her let her go ahead, may be she studied the situation and decided she can't nail me in that, after. In those days I met her she studied me very well, she understood I m a very cool headed, gentle man that loves peace and don't like anyhow girls so she plays along the way she thinks I would love my lady to be... It in fact it took me about a week to convince Halimat to come to my house, even when she came I didn't even make any attempt on her considering the kind of person i thought she was... She tidied my house very neat and well, when it comes to cooking she brought an excuse that she has something very important to do in school........

The second time she come around I have a brother that also lives in Badagry he's more familiar with the people and happenings in Badagry, immediately she saw my brother I saw the shock in her face, she agreed to cook that day, as she was in the kitchen my brother told me that I m playing with a very poisonous viper under a green grass, he told me that there are two guys in his compound that take turns on her almost daily I became very surprise, he said as a matter of fact I should not let any 1 knows me with her, I should not even fu*ck her, even if I use a condom she will blackmail me
