Thanks for your help. I'm suffering from oil burns despite using only Mobil 1 to service the car since I bought it late last year. I've only driven a little over 3000miles and the oil has gone really down and I'm beginning to worry. The car drives well,no smoke of any kind and fuel consumption is good and it hasn't overheated once. Everything is still in factory settings. What should I do about the oil burns?

1. What type of car and what engine?

2. What is the mileage of the car presently?

3. Did you buy it as tokumbo or Nigeria used?

4. Have you personally stood behind the vehicle while it was being revved or driven to ascertain for sure that the engine burns oil?

5. Have you been able to bend down and look under your engine or on the ground for leaks?

for me, bringing out such an amount just for fuel 2 - 3 times a month is not wise, i would just get used to the pinging and manage it like that or sell off the vehicle.

The PK in the size code for your fan belt simply represents the number of grooves (teeth) that your crankshaft, alternator, power steering and compressor has on its pulleys. The rest of the numbers is the actual length of the belt itself.

In this your particular case If you turn the serpentine belt and look under it you will count a total of 6 grooves MEANWHILE if you look on the pulleys of your other related engine components you will find out that they all have seven grooves. Then if you scrutinize your current setup you’d find out that you have one empty unused groove just sitting there exposed for the belt to be ‘playing’ against left-right as the engine rotates.


What this implies is that you are utilizing only 6 of the specified 7 grooves to create the ‘friction’ your crankshaft needs to effectively spin your power steering pump, compressor and alternator. Your belt is the right length but the wrong width ========> rapid belt wear and tear, crankshaft loosing grip-friction when wet or stretched, adjuster making unusual noises because it’s not compressing the required surface area of the belt and finally your belt will cut more frequently because it is undersized for the various pulleys it’s rubbing against

You should get the 7pk type from henceforth, stop letting mechanics dictate what you should or should not use as against factory specifications.

Certificate can be printed on Saturday and issued at any specific date! For writing and posting this to deceive or change peoples mindset towards obi ! It shows you never pass through the four walls of university! For clarification I got my degree certificate on Thursday while the date of issue was on 21 October 2018 which is on Sunday

If you attended a university, you should know dates on certificates are the dates which the University Senates approve the results. Do universities Senates sit on Saturdays?

I know say you no go school so just locate the nearest graduate to you and request to see their own certificate.

No more buying belt after 2 weeks of usage. That adjuster for 8th generation civic for my car na pure nonsense. The thing dey too quickly spoil.

Do you think the adjuster is in your engine for fancy? Do you know how important that adjuster is to the function of your power steering pump, compressor and alternator?

You know that belt is made of rubber right? overtime that your serpentine belt will get weaker and weaker due to depreciation and start to stretch and become loose? Heck even your engine temperature makes it change its length by a few inches when it gets very hot and as the engine cools down it gets compressed back to its usual state/length.

your adjuster was there to always keep the tolerances between the belt, rollers, power steering, compressor and alternator THIGHT so as not to cause slippage or outright damage to the belt and it’s associated components when your engine is in use. The noise you were hearing was just your belt rubbing against the rollers due to a failing adjuster oh.

Now that you have deleted your adjuster, your belt will get very loose (while the engine is hot) and it will be slipping , it will also make your belt depreciate faster and cut sooner than later

Deleting your adjuster. . .

Means your alternator won’t be giving out the normal voltage required to run your vehicular equipment and at the same time recharge your battery =========> instead of your battery to last 2 years it will now last only 1 year because even an output difference of just 1 single volt from your alternator can damage your battery

It also means your power steering pump will be lacking proper power after you have been on the road for several hours without a break, your steering rack will be demanding fluid which your pump will be struggling to deliver and this will make your rack starved of lubrication =========> rapid wear and tear in your power steering rack and leaking seals in the pump & rack due to unusual fluid pressures

Then let’s not forget about your air conditioning compressor, the belt won’t be gripping the bearing again when it’s deprecated or stretched and the slippage will cause excessive pressures in your power steering lines and lack of lubrication while in use extensively. =========> ruptured lines, drier starved of Freon, weakened seals and even cause leakages and develop the dreaded Black Death syndrome

Of course all these will happen overtime and the damages will creep up on you when you least expect, it might be a month or a year from now depending on how lucky you are but it will happen SOONER than LATER , those components related to the adjuster work with bearings and they were engineered to ‘spin’ at a specific rpm for their functions to be safe and effective.

Why do you think it’s folly to put a bigger or smaller compressor/ power steering pump or even alternator on your vehicle that is different from what was specified from the factory? Your engine spins at a particular rpm and these components were designed to spin in relation to your engine that’s why the adjuster is there

The engineers who produce these things and put in your vehicle are usually ASE certified (American Society of Engineers)

Oga Kamoru that told you to remove your adjuster is only ASE certified (Agboju Society of Enginias)
