ROOT HISTORY EXPOSES ALL! The major issue with Africa and Nigeria at large is that we hate to read and research! Knowledge they said is power that conquers all. Before you open your mouth next to condemn Christianity of any other religion, read, research and learn. "There is far more violence in the Bible than in the Qur'an; the idea that Islam imposed itself by the sword is a Western fiction, fabricated during the time of the Crusades when, in fact, it was Western Christians who were fighting brutal holy wars against Islam."[1] So announces former nun and self-professed "freelance monotheist," Karen Armstrong. This quote sums up the single most influential argument currently serving to deflect the accusation that Islam is inherently violent and intolerant: All monotheistic religions, proponents of such an argument say, and not just Islam, have their fair share of violent and intolerant scriptures, as well as bloody histories. Thus, whenever Islam's sacred scriptures—the Qur'an first, followed by the reports on the words and deeds of Muhammad (the Hadith)—are highlighted as demonstrative of the religion's innate bellicosity, the immediate rejoinder is that other scriptures, specifically those of Judeo-Christianity, are as riddled with violent passages. Therefore, before condemning the Qur'an and the historical words and deeds of Islam's prophet Muhammad for inciting violence and intolerance, Jews are counseled to consider the historical atrocities committed by their Hebrew forefathers as recorded in their own scriptures; Christians are advised to consider the brutal cycle of violence their forbears have committed in the name of their faith against both non-Christians and fellow Christians. In other words, Jews and Christians are reminded that those who live in glass houses should not be hurling stones. But is that really the case? Is the analogy with other scriptures legitimate? Does Hebrew violence in the ancient era, and Christian violence in the medieval era, compare to or explain away the tenacity of Muslim violence in the modern era? Violence in Jewish and Christian History Along with Armstrong, any number of prominent writers, historians, and theologians have championed this "relativist" view. For instance, John Esposito, director of the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University, wonders, How come we keep on asking the same question, [about violence in Islam,] and don't ask the same question about Christianity and Judaism? Jews and Christians have engaged in acts of violence. All of us have the transcendent and the dark side. … We have our own theology of hate. In mainstream Christianity and Judaism, we tend to be intolerant; we adhere to an exclusivist theology, of us versus them.[2] An article by Pennsylvania State University humanities professor Philip Jenkins, "Dark Passages," delineates this position most fully. It aspires to show that the Bible is more violent than the Qur'an: [I]n terms of ordering violence and bloodshed, any simplistic claim about the superiority of the Bible to the Koran would be wildly wrong. In fact, the Bible overflows with "texts of terror," to borrow a phrase coined by the American theologian Phyllis Trible. The Bible contains far more verses praising or urging bloodshed than does the Koran, and biblical violence is often far more extreme, and marked by more indiscriminate savagery. … If the founding text shapes the whole religion, then Judaism and Christianity deserve the utmost condemnation as religions of savagery.[3] Several anecdotes from the Bible as well as from Judeo-Christian history illustrate Jenkins' point, but two in particular—one supposedly representative of Judaism, the other of Christianity—are regularly mentioned and therefore deserve closer examination. The military conquest of the land of Canaan by the Hebrews in about 1200 B.C.E. is often characterized as "genocide" and has all but become emblematic of biblical violence and intolerance. God told Moses: But of the cities of these peoples which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance, you shall let nothing that breathes remain alive, but you shall utterly destroy them—the Hittite, Amorite, Canaanite, Perizzite, Hivite, and Jebusite—just as the Lord your God has commanded you, lest they teach you to do according to all their abominations which they have done for their gods, and you sin against the Lord your God.[4] So Joshua [Moses' successor] conquered all the land: the mountain country and the South and the lowland and the wilderness slopes, and all their kings; he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord, God of Israel had commanded.[5] As for Christianity, since it is impossible to find New Testament verses inciting violence, those who espouse the view that Christianity is as violent as Islam rely on historical events such as the Crusader wars waged by European Christians between the eleventh and thirteenth centuries. The Crusades were in fact violent and led to atrocities by the modern world's standards under the banner of the cross and in the name of Christianity. After breaching the walls of Jerusalem in 1099, for example, the Crusaders reportedly slaughtered almost every inhabitant of the Holy City. According to the medieval chronicle, the Gesta Danorum, "the slaughter was so great that our men waded in blood up to their ankles."[6] In light of the above, as Armstrong, Esposito, Jenkins, and others argue, why should Jews and Christians point to the Qur'an as evidence of Islam's violence while ignoring their own scriptures and history? Bible versus Qur'an The answer lies in the fact that such observations confuse history and theology by conflating the temporal actions of men with what are understood to be the immutable words of God. The fundamental error is that Judeo-Christian history—which is violent—is being conflated with Islamic theology—which commands violence. Of course, the three major monotheistic religions have all had their share of violence and intolerance towards the "other." Whether this violence is ordained by God or whether warlike men merely wished it thus is the key question. Old Testament violence is an interesting case in point. God clearly ordered the Hebrews to annihilate the Canaanites and surrounding peoples. Such violence is therefore an expression of God's will, for good or ill. Regardless, all the historic violence committed by the Hebrews and recorded in the Old Testament is just that—history. It happened; God commanded it. But it revolved around a specific time and place and was directed against a specific people. At no time did such violence go on to become standardized or codified into Jewish law. In short, biblical accounts of violence are descriptive, not prescriptive. This is where Islamic violence is unique. Though similar to the violence of the Old Testament—commanded by God and manifested in history—certain aspects of Islamic violence and intolerance have become standardized in Islamic law and apply at all times. Thus, while the violence found in the Qur'an has a historical context, its ultimate significance is theological. Consider the following Qur'anic verses, better known as the "sword-verses": Then, when the sacred months are drawn away, slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them, and confine them, and lie in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they repent, and perform the prayer, and pay the alms, then let them go their way.[7] Fight those who believe not in God and the Last Day, and do not forbid what God and His Messenger have forbidden – such men as practise not the religion of truth, being of those who have been given the Book – until they pay the tribute out of hand and have been humbled.[8] As with Old Testament verses where God commanded the Hebrews to attack and slay their neighbors, the sword-verses also have a historical context. God first issued these commandments after the Muslims under Muhammad's leadership had grown sufficiently strong to invade their Christian and pagan neighbors. But unlike the bellicose verses and anecdotes of the Old Testament, the sword-verses became fundamental to Islam's subsequent relationship to both the "people of the book" (i.e., Jews and Christians) and the "idolaters" (i.e., Hindus, Buddhists, animists, etc.) and, in fact, set off the Islamic conquests, which changed the face of the world forever. Based on Qur'an 9:5, for instance, Islamic law mandates that idolaters and polytheists must either convert to Islam or be killed; simultaneously, Qur'an 9:29 is the primary source of Islam's well-known discriminatory practices against conquered Christians and Jews living under Islamic suzerainty. In fact, based on the sword-verses as well as countless other Qur'anic verses and oral traditions attributed to Muhammad, Islam's learned officials, sheikhs, muftis, and imams throughout the ages have all reached consensus—binding on the entire Muslim community—that Islam is to be at perpetual war with the non-Muslim world until the former subsumes the latter. Indeed, it is widely held by Muslim scholars that since the sword-verses are among the final revelations on the topic of Islam's relationship to non-Muslims, that they alone have abrogated some 200 of the Qur'an's earlier and more tolerant verses, such as "no compulsion is there in religion."[9] Famous Muslim scholar Ibn Khaldun (1332-1406) admired in the West for his "progressive" insights, also puts to rest the notion that jihad is defensive warfare: In the Muslim community, the holy war [jihad] is a religious duty, because of the universalism of the Muslim mission and the obligation to convert everybody to Islam either by persuasion or by force ... The other religious groups did not have a universal mission, and the holy war was not a religious duty for them, save only for purposes of defense ... They are merely required to establish their religion among their own people. That is why the Israelites after Moses and Joshua remained unconcerned with royal authority [e.g., a caliphate]. Their only concern was to establish their religion [not spread it to the nations] … But Islam is under obligation to gain power over other nations.[10] Modern authorities agree. The Encyclopaedia of Islam's entry for "jihad" by Emile Tyan states that the "spread of Islam by arms is a religious duty upon Muslims in general … Jihad must continue to be done until the whole world is under the rule of Islam … Islam must completely be made over before the doctrine of jihad [warfare to spread Islam] can be eliminated." Iraqi jurist Majid Khaduri (1909-2007), after defining jihad as warfare, writes that "jihad … is regarded by all jurists, with almost no exception, as a collective obligation of the whole Muslim community."[11] And, of course, Muslim legal manuals written in Arabic are even more explicit.[12] Qur'anic Language When the Qur'an's violent verses are juxtaposed with their Old Testament counterparts, they are especially distinct for using language that transcends time and space, inciting believers to attack and slay nonbelievers today no less than yesterday. God commanded the Hebrews to kill Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites—all specific peoples rooted to a specific time and place. At no time did God give an open-ended command for the Hebrews, and by extension their Jewish descendants, to fight and kill gentiles. On the other hand, though Islam's original enemies were, like Judaism's, historical (e.g., Christian Byzantines and Zoroastrian Persians), the Qur'an rarely singles them out by their proper names. Instead, Muslims were (and are) commanded to fight the people of the book—"until they pay the tribute out of hand and have been humbled"[13] and to "slay the idolaters wherever you find them."[14] The two Arabic conjunctions "until" (hata) and "wherever" (haythu) demonstrate the perpetual and ubiquitous nature of these commandments: There are still "people of the book" who have yet to be "utterly humbled" (especially in the Americas, Europe, and Israel) and "idolaters" to be slain "wherever" one looks (especially Asia and sub-Saharan Africa). In fact, the salient feature of almost all of the violent commandments in Islamic scriptures is their open-ended and generic nature: "Fight them [non-Muslims] until there is no persecution and the religion is God's entirely. [Emphasis added.]"[15] Also, in a well-attested tradition that appears in the hadith collections, Muhammad proclaims: I have been commanded to wage war against mankind until they testify that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God; and that they establish prostration prayer, and pay the alms-tax [i.e., convert to Islam]. If they do so, their blood and property are protected. [Emphasis added.][16] This linguistic aspect is crucial to understanding scriptural exegeses regarding violence. Again, it bears repeating that neither Jewish nor Christian scriptures—the Old and New Testaments, respectively—employ such perpetual, open-ended commandments. Despite all this, Jenkins laments that Commands to kill, to commit ethnic cleansing, to institutionalize segregation, to hate and fear other races and religions … all are in the Bible, and occur with a far greater frequency than in the Qur'an. At every stage, we can argue what the passages in question mean, and certainly whether they should have any relevance for later ages. But the fact remains that the words are there, and their inclusion in the scripture means that they are, literally, canonized, no less than in the Muslim scripture.[17] One wonders what Jenkins has in mind by the word "canonized." If by canonized he means that such verses are considered part of the canon of Judeo-Christian scripture, he is absolutely correct; conversely, if by canonized he means or is trying to connote that these verses have been implemented in the Judeo-Christian Weltanschauung, he is absolutely wrong. Yet one need not rely on purely exegetical and philological arguments; both history and current events give the lie to Jenkins's relativism. Whereas first-century Christianity spread via the blood of martyrs, first-century Islam spread through violent conquest and bloodshed. Indeed, from day one to the present—whenever it could—Islam spread through conquest, as evinced by the fact that the majority of what is now known as the Islamic world, or dar al-Islam, was conquered by the sword of Islam. This is a historic fact, attested to by the most authoritative Islamic historians. Even the Arabian peninsula, the "home" of Islam, was subdued by great force and bloodshed, as evidenced by the Ridda wars following Muhammad's death when tens of thousands of Arabs were put to the sword by the first caliph Abu Bakr for abandoning Islam. Even though the Islamic world has the lion's share of dramatic headlines—of violence, terrorism, suicide-attacks, decapitations—it is certainly not the only region in the world suffering under both internal and external pressures. Just as Christians are exhorted to emulate the lifestyle of Jesus Christ; Muslims are exhorted too to emulate Muhammad in all walks of life. Sarcastically arguing against the concept of moderate Islam, for example, terrorist Osama bin Laden, who enjoys half the Arab-Islamic world's support per an Al-Jazeera poll,[19] portrays the Prophet's sunna thusly: "Moderation" is demonstrated by our prophet who did not remain more than three months in Medina without raiding or sending a raiding party into the lands of the infidels to beat down their strongholds and seize their possessions, their lives, and their women.[20] Though law-centric and possibly legalistic, Judaism has no such equivalent to the Sunna; the words and deeds of the patriarchs, though described in the Old Testament, never went on to prescribe Jewish law. Neither Abraham's "white-lies," nor Jacob's perfidy, nor Moses' short-fuse, nor David's adultery, nor Solomon's philandering ever went on to instruct Jews or Christians. They were understood as historical acts perpetrated by fallible men who were more often than not punished by God for their less than ideal behavior. As for Christianity, much of the Old Testament law was abrogated or fulfilled—depending on one's perspective—by Jesus. "Eye for an eye" gave way to "turn the other cheek." Totally loving God and one's neighbor became supreme law.[23] Furthermore, Jesus' sunna—as in "What would Jesus do?"—is characterized by passivity and altruism. The New Testament contains absolutely no exhortations to violence. Still, there are those who attempt to portray Jesus as having a similarly militant ethos as Muhammad by quoting the verse where the former—who "spoke to the multitudes in parables and without a parable spoke not"[24]—said, "I come not to bring peace but a sword."[25] But based on the context of this statement, it is clear that Jesus was not commanding violence against non-Christians but rather predicting that strife will exist between Christians and their environment—a prediction that was only too true as early Christians, far from taking up the sword, passively perished by the sword in martyrdom as too often they still do in the Muslim world. [26] Does this mean that no self-professed Christian can be anti-Semitic? Of course not. But it does mean that Christian anti-Semites are living oxymorons—for the simple reason that textually and theologically, Christianity, far from teaching hatred or animosity, unambiguously stresses love and forgiveness. Whether or not all Christians follow such mandates is hardly the point; just as whether or not all Muslims uphold the obligation of jihad is hardly the point. The only question is, what do the religions command? John Esposito is therefore right to assert that "Jews and Christians have engaged in acts of violence." He is wrong, however, to add, "We [Christians] have our own theology of hate." Nothing in the New Testament teaches hate—certainly nothing to compare with Qur'anic injunctions such as: "We [Muslims] disbelieve in you [non-Muslims], and between us and you enmity has shown itself, and hatred for ever until you believe in God alone."[29] Question: Did Prophet Muhammad declare war against people because they did not embrace Islam or accept Islamic rule? CAR OWNERS BEWARE OF THIS EVIL Just received from a friend. I Think it's time we stop over focussing on this PDP/APC, PMB and the rest issues and start looking where our problem is. I believe our problem is in the institutions of this country. I don't want to mention that of police now its for another day. It was on the 14th day of March that I drove into one of the police station to obtain the new tinted glass permit, in the process, it was discovered that the plate number of my car is being used by another car. My first question is "How is it possible?" Because I obtained this number from FRSC with all documents intact. I never know the car is going to stay for 12 days in the station. A file was quickly open and the car became an exhibit. Thank God the car was registered by a very high ranking officer of the FRSC whom was brought to the station. As the investigation was going on, it was discovered that some people were producing these fake and duplicate number plates and giving out to innocent and unsuspecting Nigerians, ripping them off their hard earned money. My question is, should we now go and buy this numbers at a shop in Alaba or at Idumota instead of the federal government approved agencies? In the course of my research, I stumbled upon the number plate verification system online. I started verifying cars of friends, church members and even cars that I see on the road. A shocking revelation was made that OUT OF EVERY 10 CARS you see on the road with LAGOS and ABUJA number plates, that at least 4 is FAKE. You can check your own now Below: http://www.controversialada.com/2016/04/frsc-are-thieves-see-prove.html |

They would do everything within their power to mislead the masses. Hey my country people, do not be quick to judge ooo. After all, for the past 16 years what does the PDP lead government done for Nigerians? Me I no bi PDP nor APC, my own job is to pressure the government for Transparency and Good Governance! I'm tired of blame game because it has lead nobody into something good. Ekelekwam Unu! On March 19 when I casted my vote for PMB I did it not out of sentiment nor intellect; i did it out of conviction and my conviction is still strong as ever. President Muhammadu Buhari has traveled to 21 countries in the last 10 months of his administration and his trip to the United States of America for a nuclear summit makes it his 25th time of jetting out for a personal or state affair according to a compilation made by the African Independent Television, AIT. Buhari’s trips which are heavily motivated by Foreign Direct Investments haven’t been as fruitless as strong social media claims paint them to be. His foreign trips have been tagged as acts of ”globetrotting or junketing” gulping over $23 million thus far from the country’s treasury according to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. Here are some major breakthroughs from Buhari’s frequent trips abroad: (1) China is set to invest $60 billion dollars in Nigeria and Africa: During the China-Africa summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa attended by President Muhammadu Buhari in December, 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping promised to invest $60 billion in Africa with Nigeria being the most populous nation in Africa benefiting immensely. (2) China has also sought more crude oil exportation from Nigeria: Following an agreement with Buhari at the China-Africa summit, China decided to ignore the emergence of Iran to buy more crude oil from Nigeria which will go a long way in boosting the country’s economy. This announcement was made by the Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, Mr Zao LingXiang during an interview in Abuja in March, 2016. (3) U.S.A has decided to buy more crude oil from Nigeria after suspending trade relations during the previous administration: President Muhammadu Buhari has made two trips to the United States of America since his emergence. This helped in fixing the strained trade relationship between both countries under the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan administration during which the United States halted the buying of crude oil from Nigeria due to the high rate of corruption in the country. On the 24th of March, reports emerged that the U.S importation of Nigerian crude had jumped to 559,000 barrels per day. (4) U.S.A is set to invest over $600 million in Nigeria this year: This was announced by the Secretary of state, John Kerry during the opening session of the U.S – Nigeria Bi-National Commission meeting. This will be aimed at reducing the spread of Malaria, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and other stringent issues affecting the country. (5) U.S has pledged to assist Nigeria with concrete intelligence on the loot stashed abroad by corrupt former and current public office holders including the Boko Haram insurgency: The United States of America is currently helping Nigeria with: http://www.controversialada.com/2016/04/results-of-buhari-constant-trip-abroad.html What do ya say? |

;DMuslims More Religious Than Others? ![]() If heaven is meant for the most religious belief and faithfuls, Muslims are likely to occupy the front roles. According to CNN and a survey by Ipos-Mori, Muslims overall tend to be more committed to their faith than any other religious group and consider Islam to be a more significant part of their daily lives. The survey was carried out in 24 countries, of which three (Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Turkey) have Muslim majorities. Muslims feel a deep personal relationship with the Prophet Muhammad. He is not just a figure, he is the main role model that all Muslims try to emulate, no matter where they are in the world. They also harbor an intense love and admiration for him. Every religion has its true believers and its doubters, its pious and its pragmatists, but new evidence suggests that Muslims tend to be more committed to their faith than other believers. Muslims are much more likely than Christians and Hindus to say that their own faith is the only true path to paradise, according to a recent global survey, and they are more inclined to say their religion is an important part of their daily lives. Muslims also have a much greater tendency to say their religion motivates them to do good works, said the survey, released over the summer by Ipsos-Mori, a British research company that polls around the world. Muslims have this mindset that we alone possess the final truth," Husain says. Muslims believe "Jews and Christians went before us and Mohammed was the last prophet," says Husain, whose book "The Islamist" chronicles his experiences with radicals. "Our prophet aimed to nullify the message of the previous prophets. Like Christians who wear "What Would Jesus Do?" bracelets, many Muslims feel a deep personal connection to the founder of their faith, the prophet Muhammad, he says In regards to national commitment, another recent poll conducted in the United Kingdom by Demos, actually found that British Muslims have a greater sense of national... WHEN YOUR PRESENCE IS NOT IMPACTFULL, PLEASE GET OUT By Tommy Udoh I was at the Nigerian prisons today and i was shocked to know that even in prison there is the church rivalry trend. In the Port Harcourt Maximum prison, there are seven (7) different church building and yet just one one mosque, even when the prison has a place where all Pentecostal churches worship each of them has gone ahead to build theirs. Meanwhile, there are no adequate hostels, library and adequate workshops for inmate to acquire skills; where there are space for workshops, there are no equipment or the ones available are obsolete. It will in fact shock you to know that in the carpentry workshop, there is only one saw despite the fact that there were over 10 inmates undergoing apprenticeship. Another sad part of my lesson today was that inmates are recycled, this means that despite the huge number of churches in the prison inmates released, still go out to commit crimes that bring them back. This means that the presence of the church is not helping the prison achieve its reformation, rehabilitation and integration objective. I am writing this piece to inform us that the Prison especially the Port Harcourt prison does not need another church building so please no one should contemplate going to build one; it rather needs a library equipped with book, it needs equipment for its carpentry and tailoring workshops,it need these workshop to be renovated, it needs carpentry equipment, it need more hostel facilities. Those of us involved in the Prison ministry should do more than going to conduct service and sharing rice, we should do more sustainable things, things that will help the prison rehabilitate, reform and re-integrate inmates into society. i must commend one of the churches whose halls have been used for the Open University, other churches should please emulate. if you know your church has a church in prison, please advice your leader to turn into a workshop or put it to uses that will help the prison achieve its aim of reformation, rehabilitation and integration. I also which to appeal to individual to please visit the prison and see what you can do, for me i have decided to buy 3 SAWs, you can buy a spraying machine, hammer, drill, edge mold, pay for the renovation of the workshops, buy sewing machine. The best way to start is to go and pay a visit to the prison. I re-iterate, if your presence can not make meaningful impact, please get out! Just wondering how Many gods we have as Christians! Can we start with the obvious questions. let us back date a bit; A PDP chieftain and governorship aspirant in the December 8, 2014 PDP primaries in Abia state, Sir Friday Nwosu had shortly after the primary election won by Ikpeazu approached the Federal High Court accusing him (Ikpeazu) of forging the tax certificates he submitted to the electoral body. QUESTION Why did he(Friday Nwosu) withheld the accusation till after the primaries which he lost? In other words; assuming Friday Nwosu won the primaries, this accusation might not have happened even if it was the truth. (Nigerians wake up) Again; While the matter was going on, the presiding Judge, Justice M. S. Shuaibu was transferred to Kaduna. However, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court directed him to hear and conclude the matter in his Owerri, Imo State former division. QUESTION Why was Justice M.S. Shaibu all of a sudden transferred to Kaduna? Even though he was still in charge of the case, why the transfer. I sense foul play already but let us continue with the examination (wait ooo, are you telling me that you are not seeing the obvious loophole?) While the matter was going on, the presiding Judge, Justice M. S. Shuaibu was transferred to Kaduna. However, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court directed him to hear and conclude the matter in his Owerri, Imo State former division. QUESTION How come? How can an ordinary Attorney be in charge of an information concerning all? Ohhhh! This is really embarrassing. As a party interested in the poor exploited masses, I rather jubilate on how two elephants are busy killing themselves but on second thought, 'Na we the grass dey suffer am ooh'. I remember that it is our resources these hoodlums are using to run their personal selfish interest. Ngwanu hear grammar from Justice Shaibu; 'He therefore promised to probe to know how Elele was the only person who has the information which neither he nor the applicant and his lawyers have, saying that he would find out if the lawyer of his principal had been having communication with his boss, the Chief Judge of Federal High Court'. Justice Shuaibu adjourned the matter to Thursday 28th April, 2016, to enable him confirm from the Chief Judge if there was an order directing him to hands off the matter. QUESTION Bikonu, who is fooling who in this country? If this case were to involve an average Nigerian, will these long procedures be put in place? Wait ooo, seems we are really enjoying this evil actors in justice regalia. It is obvious money has exchanged hands but why ridicule the Justice system of a whole country where poor man rely on for proper justice? Just read further to see how Nwosu fooled himself further; Meanwhile, the applicant [Nwosu] on his own has petitioned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, seeking to confirm whether he revoked the order he granted Justice M.S. Shuaibu to hear and conclude the tax forgery case against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. “In my humble view, there is no way C.C Elele should be in possession of any order revoking Your Lordship’s fiat granted in my favour, when I do not have any copy or any knowledge about it. “The Judge, lawyers and everybody in the court were very surprised how Barrister C. C. Elele was the one informing Hon. Justice Shuaibu of official information which Your Lordship, the Honourable Chief Judge should communicate to him if it exists. Again, between Monday 14th March 2016 and today 18th March 2016, nothing happened and no party complained against Hon. Justice Shuaibu to the best of my knowledge. “What could have happened, and what could have warranted revocation of My Lord’s fiat if any, and how could My Lord have sent Barrister Casmir .C. Elele (3rd Defendant’s Counsel) to come and announce same to the Court and to us publicly in the circumstances”, Nwosu said in the petition.” Meanwhile, the applicant [Nwosu] on his own has petitioned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, seeking to confirm whether he revoked the order he granted Justice M.S. Oya make una continu dey fool una sef. This report is one among million other reports that would be swept under the carpet as usual. I LIKE EL-RUFAI By Tommy Udoh From the day i read Accidental public servant by Mallam Nasir El Rufai, i knew like with a conviction that this is a great man. but quite sadly, our society celebrates charlatans and demonize good people. hear him I LIKE EL-RUFAI "This is something I find both disturbing and disappointing. In any argument and situation, if you have your facts and you are right, you don’t need to refer to religion. Religion doesn’t win arguments for you. What I have found in life is that the moment a person introduces religion in any situation, I know they are wrong because if you are right, have facts and can justify your position, why bring God into it? God will judge us on the day of judgment. People only revert to religion and ethnicity when they have run out of convincing arguments. What I find in Kaduna State is that people can bring religion into everything. I think more than any state in Nigeria, Kaduna state has suffered more in terms of religious and ethnic divisions and that should be a lesson for us but what I found out is that the elite have one weapon and that is religion and it is sad. But, unfortunately for them they have not studied me. If anyone has studied my career at the FCT, they would know that playing the religious card with me will fail all the time, because the moment you play that card, I know you are an adversary that needs to be put down and I will not look back until I am done with you. One of your policies that has generated a lot of controversy is the religious preaching bill. What does the government want to achieve when it becomes law and how are you going to tackle the anxiety that it has generated among the people? Kaduna State, more than any state in Nigeria, if you take out the Yobe, Borno and Adamawa axis, which suffered from Boko Haram insurgency, has suffered the most from death and destruction of property due to misuse and abuse of religion. More people have been killed in Kaduna from the words that people have said. And if you go back in history to when the Maitasine incident happened; he was a Cameroonian that came to Nigeria and started preaching. The Emir of Kano had him deported back to Cameroon. After that, he managed to smuggle himself back again and continued preaching. He was preaching a version of Islam that was intolerant, a version that called other Muslims pagans and so on. But in spite of what he was preaching, he acquired followers and we all know what happened. Military operation had to be mounted to flush them out. Those that escaped from the Maitasine crisis moved to Borno State and started the Kalakato sect, which again led to many deaths and destruction in the early 1990s. All these came from people that were not trained in religious matters, people that woke up and started preaching and acquiring followers and inevitably their sects grew in large numbers to threaten communities and there were clashes. That was also how Muhammed Yusuf started. He was a student of Sheik Jaafar Adam in Kano. They fell out because Jaafar felt that some of the views he was expressing were extreme and intolerant. He went and started his own sect and we all know what happened and we are still dealing with it. Thus, when you have such things happening in your country, I think as leaders, we have to sit down and examine ourselves and the society and see what we can do to prevent it. In my opinion, it is the lack of regulation of religion that led to all these circles of death and destruction. Just recently, we had the Shi’ite problem in Zaria, following a similar pattern. I believe that before you start preaching in any religion, you should have gone through a system of education, training and some kind of certification. Even those that deal with the physical life get certified, let alone those that deal with the spiritual life. We initiated this bill from the Kaduna State Security Council, based on reports of new sects emerging in Kaduna State. Are there recent cases? There is one around Makarfi called Gausiyya, they do their Zuhr prayer around 11am, different from other Muslims. This is how this thing starts and if you don’t resolve it quickly, it grows into something else. A woman in Makarfi said Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was speaking to her and sick people started going to her for their healing. The husband of this woman was busy collecting N1,000 as consultancy fee before people could see his wife. We had to take steps to end that movement because before you know it, people would start coming from far and wide and this woman would become our next problem. It was the report of two or three of these that compelled us in the security council to ask the question, whether or not there was a law that regulates preaching. Then we were told there was a law; since 1984 after the Maitasine problems, the administration passed the law. It was subsequently amended several times to increase the fine and the imprisonment term. This is a living problem and we know it. Christian priests, the ones I know, go to seminary and spend so many years there, study under a more experienced Reverend to learn what to say and what not to say. Religious leaders don’t preach hatred; they preach peace, tolerance and love. But today in my religion of Islam, anybody can wake up and start a sect; there is no control. In those days, from Islamiyya School, if you chose that line, you needed to study more books. After that, you would go to the East (Borno area) for more studies and training. Then from there, you would go to a mosque and begin to call people to prayer before you become an imam in any mosque. Before you became an imam of a Friday mosque, the community must agree that you were well learned and competent. But now, everyone can build a mosque, put up loudspeakers, call himself an imam and start disturbing people at night. A priest that has gone through thorough teachings and training would not go and ask people to cause trouble and kill each other. They are trained men of God. In Christendom today, we all know that some people would drink something overnight and wake up the next day and claim they are apostles, that God had spoken to them. You could not disproof that because you were not there with him and he would start to collect followers. When he begins to preach hatred, what can you do? Is it the society we want? This is the question. The logic behind this law is to strengthen the 1984 laws so as to regulate and ensure that those that are given the opportunity to preach at least know what they are doing, they have a level of responsibility to develop the society rather than divide it. This is our goal; we don’t have anything... [url][/url]http://www.controversialada.com/2016/04/i-like-el-rufai-see-why.html |
