Still doesn't change the fact that he was woefully out of place. His indecison cost us the opening goal.
he was screwed either way.

Yeah, so going by your definition of "elite", then the following are elite teams in Europe judging from quarter final appearances, whether once or multiple times:
Tottenham
Shakhtar Donetsk
Schalke
Arsenal
Monaco
Dynamo Kiev
Leeds United
Bayer Leverkusen
Panathinaikos
Villareal
To mention a few.
There really must be a lot of clubs that can lay claim to the "elite" title.
i am almost crying ma eyes out here.
yea - go ahead, compare roma to all the hapless teams from shambolic european leagues.
roma won serie a few times and we all know how serie a ranks in europe - if you want to now compare them to other shitty teams from the leagues of greece, austria and cambodia, don't be ma guest. tongue

No team with Zlatan Ibrahimovic is good enough to win the Champions League. That already deflates your argument, because Zlatan is a consumate Euro failure.
conveniently forgetting zlatan ibrahimovic is the most successful league title winner in europe. everywhere he played, he has won league titles.
he was the star of the inter team that jose mourinho managed before zlat went to barcelona.

The 2010 side had Milito,Etoo and Sneijder.
so those 3 players won the treble for inter? we should discount the others?
we can conveniently conclude hargreaves, anderson and nani won the champions league for man utd then. rooney, ronaldo, vidic, etc did nowt!

Markedly different from the defensive unit of a side we beat. They had a solid defensive base, but nothing to instill fear into anybody going forward.
So don't tell me the 09 side was anything special. It was at the point of failure that season that dayokanu brought up the memorable thread about whether Mourinho was a fluke or a genius.
they were fantastic. played to their own strength.
is it easy to win in europe? look around you - how many teams have won it back to back?

Take it or leave it,the 2010 side was better-equipped than the previous year.
they weren't.
they just faced a much better united side in 2009. having ronaldo, rooney, vidic, evra, etc in your team helps.

The 2009 Inter was good enough to win the Scudetto, but then they had been doing that for years in Italy so nothing new/special as the competition in Italy then was wack and weal. grin
Looks like an escape route for excuses is being prepared. . .
the 2009 inter team won the scudetto. . . .at a canter!
they were no weak team. no jose mourinho's team is weak unless you don't know a great deal about football!

It is an hour but it will get your mind open. Foreign aid is terrible for Africa. America knows it, they want to keep Africa enslaved. That money is OWED BACK. It isn't a free grant. It has many conditions to it as well. Instead of the politicians getting taxes, they use the aid for everything. That book Dead Aid tells you that aid is not working. It gives politicians reasons to not do their job. Instead of raising taxes they just use the aid that will be owed back. Many ountries are in debt to NAmerica because of it. That is how America gets a lot of it's money.

Gaddafi wanted a united states of Africa which would have their own bank and monetary fund. TO not keep African countries enslaved. Thomas Sankara said NO to foreign aid and he had a better economy than most African countries. He was a net exporter and they produced everything. Most African countries don't produce anything. Importing food is BAD. What if something goes wrong in the food being imported. African countries must produce everything on their own.

You should print this and send to those who asked for donation and those who benefited from it, i never asked or benefited from American/western donations.
Yes i raised the issue of aids cos you keep going on about America sticking their noses into our businesses then i said America aids are part of those nose sticking. You can't accept their donations and expect them not to have some sort of influence in our businesses, almost every donation or aids comes with some condition attached, if you took the aids, you obey the condition attached.
they should keep their fuckin aid and shove em up their own asses.
their citizens are suffering - africa don't need the foreign aid. the foreign aid is working in the reverse - it's the main reason why there have been several civil wars and more corrupt politicians in africa living off these so called aid.

Between 1970 and 1998, when aid flows to Africa were at their peak, poverty in Africa rose from 11% to a staggering 66%.

Oya oh. Plus starters and benchwarmers, lets hear opinions about this weekend's game. Top of d table clash and a derby for added spice. No need to moan about where you feel d team is deficient just outline how you feel we can beat them.

For me its all about ensuring that defensively we as much as possible close down d space in between d back 4 and midfield. That is where Silva, Aguero and Nasri can do damage (particularly Silva). With Rio, Vida, Evra and Smalling/Jones, I am confident of shutting down whatever they have in attack. Going forward it certainly has to be about our wing play it our most potent treat. Without Cleverley we are not so good down middle. D question is whether to go with 2 upfront or pack d middle and go with one.

My team.

Smalling       Rio      Vida      Evra

Fletcher          Carrick          Ando

Nani               Welbeck        Rooney

shaking my head at some of the comments here.

any african rejoicing/celebrating gadaffhi's death is not only a tool but he must have been born brain-dead.
so he ruled for 42 years? big deal. he's an african and he's not supposed to bow to the white man's democracy.

the concept of absolute power is an african tradition/culture. one leader must die in power before choosing another.
how has democracy helped african countries if i may ask the anti-gadaffhi tools on this thread? some people have been so brainwashed, the only facts they know is what cnn/bbc and other biased western media tell them.

once again, i shake my head in disbelief at what some simpletons are belching on this thread.
some of you retarded africans need to take a long hard look at yourselves.
y'all are a disgrace to the black skin!

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread:Home Of The Blues!!!! by coogar: 8:46pm On Oct 20, 2011
Ibime:
You talking rubbish hombre. . . the Chelsea style of yesterday is the same style we have been playing for the last 3 years. . . . 4-3-3 with wing-backs pushed up. Nothing has changed except Torres.
It was the same style we used when Torres was suspended and its up to Torres to fit in with the players around him, not vice-versa.
who's talking about the formation or tactics? i am talking about the pace at which the ball is moved on the pitch and the smart interplays!

Chelsea's "slow and boring" build-up was simply the way we used to play when we were trying to fit Torres in the team and started playing 4-4-2 and other silly formations with Torres and DD upfront, sometimes Torres, DD and Anelka sef.
and it's the reason you twats have only won 1 title in 4 seasons.
people keep wondering why chelsea keep failing with their array of stars - it's because you often allow teams to regroup their defence while your midfielders are moving the ball about like pregnant slugs. chelsea play like the super eagles.

Imagine nincompoops talking about slow and boring build-up. Does that explain why Torres was unable to run faster than Paulo Ferreira, or why he kept misplacing passes or get swatted off the ball like a fly?
passes get misplaced when a player expects his team-mates to have run a couple of yards ahead and that player is dead on his feet.
seriously, go and watch the way torres played for liverpool. with gerrard and kuyt pinging balls at him quickly. the transition of the ball must be quick to bamboozle defenders - otherwise, it's a futile attempt.

One simple point defeats your whole argument - WHAT BORING AND SLOW FOOTIE WERE SPAIN PLAYING THAT MADE TORRES A DUD?
spain are also very slow. very boring. always trying to walk the ball in the net with their little triangles.
but they can keep possession and that means they will try and try and try again before they breakthrough defences.

go and watch germany vs spain. upon all spain's dominance, they could only score from a corner-kick.
the german team matched their attacking players sweat for sweat and this is because their boring football is too slow. torres cannot work with that.

Torres had to man up after making the complaint cos the spotlight was on him. . . . he had to sink or swim. . . and he swam. Simples!
you are fat goat for coming up with this nursery spin!

i am wondering how torres suddenly got the ability to swim without his limbs(since you and dayo rubbished him as a paraplegic)
the people that came up with form is temporary, class is permanent are not stupid. there's no way a player with such immense talents like torres can remain dud forever. chelsea's slow and boring build-up didn't suit torres and that rookie manager(villas-boas) saw that problem.

manager was bold. he benched the big egos - he worked out the combo that would suit torres' style of play and he got the winning formular.
lampard had to step up his game. lampard had to sink or swim(not torres). if the passing is quick, strikers will get chances before defenders regroup.
torres is a world class striker and for £50m, the team should be built around him.
