Alright gentlemen, what are your views on Exeter Uni? I often get mixed reviews about this one.

Exeter, not particularly a brain-box university but it has a large amount of posh kids for some reason hence some of their students are well connected so they can get some top jobs, that is why I put it above Glasgow which is an academically more rigourous uni.

I think it is the school posh kids that cannot get into Oxbridge, LSE, Bristol, KCL, St Andrews and Durham go and congregate. And it normally does well in the national ratings by hitting the top 20 sometimes. So I will say it is a BBB uni and a "Quite Good" uni.

Sagamite, you are a great man but I don't agree with your comments about exeter.
I am a first year student and It is by no means a bbb uni. I barely got in with aab, also
it has consistently been in or around the top 10 for the last few years? Please explain how you arrived at your opinions?
I rejected Manchester and nottingham to go here, however I would agree that it is not as good as four of the unis you stated above, but  kcl and especially bristol are debateable.

[b]Chose this section of the forum because am of the believe I will get a candid advise. Am a mother of seven, the first three have graduated. The fourth a boy(24yrs). (All his 9 papers in WAEC were excellent so was his JAMB). He was admitted too into a University to read his chosen course in 2005. In 2009 the year we expected him to graduate, he told us that he failed a paper in his 2nd year so didn't graduate 2009, but would graduate 2010. We sympathized and encouraged him to work harder to clear the course and complete his program. In all these 5 years we supported him morally and financially as we did to the previous three, his siblings.

He even told us of the project he was to write before graduating in 2010. He wrote and completed the project even gave us a copy. I was so happy and was looking forward to his NYSC in 2011. Though his dad, always looked suspicious of him. When it was time for the NYSC, we found out certain things he was saying about the service were not logical. At this point I asked him for documents relating to his academic activities, he could not give me any. So we decided to go to the University and find out. It was then we found out that he was withdrawn from the University in his 2nd year (2007). So all these years he was lying. I was shocked & devastated.

We then decided he should start all over, by taking the next JAMB, and further advised that, if his previous course was difficult he should change to another, but he is refusing that. He is insisting to do the "Open university" which i feel is too long a program (duration of completing a degree). He now avoid discussions with us, keeps himself in the room for the whole day becoming irritable & very hostile especially to the younger ones. what do I do, what do I say, how best do I go about this please?

send him abroad - the shame of starting all over again his killing him. his mates have now graduated, probably working in big companies and this young man's ego won't just let him start all over again - it's the best option though but if he's not ready for it, forcing him would produce worse results.

if sending him abroad is steep a price to pay - let him get into the world of certification courses. the degrees in nigeria are not worth tissue paper anyways. let him register for acca(chartered accounting), ccna(cisco - computer networking) or sap! these are good courses he can take and still catch up with his mates.

This is just to warn all the ladies & gents out there that work & pray hard for their money only to have hooligans come steal from you.

The guys in the pictures are for a fact very well known blackberry thieves. They frequent nightclubs on the Mainlan, Island & Ikoyi for the sole purpose of picking pockets for phones, money & whatever scraps they can get. They will rub up on girls & pally guys to blend in then when the unsuspecting people are distracted, they strike.
I know a lot of people that have been targeted by the guys in the pic. But this time, a friend of mine decided to add his stolen BB pin to his new phone to see if someone was using it. Lo & behold, who should accept my friend's request but the thief himself complete with profile picture & name. My friend was able to identify his face from the club & remembers him lingering around before his phone got stolen from his pocket.
Beware people! Memorise their faces & be careful of these thieves!!!
Such is life & things will always be stolen from you but since we live in an economy where we cannot rely on the police, it's up to we victims to name & shame these pple. We're lucky that we have the picture of the thieves so we can warn others & will hopefully avert more crimes. I just think it is sad that when someone works hard & buys things LEGALLY someone just comes up & beleives they can take it from u just like that. In this case, it is not stealing as a result og poverty because these guys were in clubs buying drinks & 'doing bad guy' only to end up stealing!
