Mrkelv:Guy you no try at all. You stole some else's picture online come dey form for this forum. Post the real picture jare. I read the review of the guy whose pictures you lifted. |
arnoldwilliamz:Not all my bro. |
This is a good post. I can see that you are into sociolinguistics with a bias for Nigerian English. However, I would like you to consult other dictionaries on "impeach" and "sentiment". I assumed you consulted the Oxford Advanced Learners' Dictionary but you can check some equally good dictionaries e.g. Chambers. "Impeach" as removing from office is not wrong. "Sentiment" can be positive or negative, and if negative, seeing it as being biased is correct. I want you to make further consultations and get back to us. And as for Nigerian English, the problem we have about it is standardisation; and when we talk about standardising the Nigerian Variety of English (which obviously exists) which framework should we employ? Banjo 1967, Bamgbose 1971, Adetugbo 1979, Odumuh 1987, among many others. If sociolinguists in Nigeria can actually work something out, then we would no longer move toward a particular 'super variety of the English language' but towards International English which is currently in vogue. (You can read the works of David Crystal on the Theory of English Neutrality and Sydney Greenbaum and B. Seildhofer on International English and International Corpus of English). One again, good work. |

This is what happens when a woman is paying for your food. Before people start throwing insults, He is VERY WRONG to have flirted, I doubt if it's not more than flirting, but the babe self no try. Obviously, last year's incidence repeated itself and she deleted all his pictures again. She definitely wants a divorce since she is the one feeding the mumu guy. Most women who love their husbands act with reason and would always want them back if domestic violence is not involved. If the guy can apologise in public, then he must have done that in private but without any difference to the babe. I guess the babe just dey think: You can be living on me and still be cheating on me. My dear guys, get a life and don,t depend on a woman but above all, love your woman and leave side chicks alone. ![]() |
I am a proud a alumnus of the Better by Far University. I remember the good old days of mini-campus and the early days of the permanent site, when there was Church Area after Buka Area and Iya Kabba food canteen occupy the present-day Faculty of Arts Office complex land area (inside bush then). |
No news yet o. I even heard some people had their interview on Tuesday last week. Let's just be hopeful n prayerful. |
dhope:This year. April, 25. |
mechango:For Admin Officer 2 |
I received a text message this morning (Sunday 12 July, 2015) for an interview at Uniosun on Monday 13 July, 2015 by 8:00. Did anyone else received a text? The time given is too short. I'm outside Osun State and I don't have anywhere to pass the night at Osogbo. |
People just come up with theories and postulations about Christianity. True, somethings are not expected in the church but saying sports n excursion are not allowed is the height of it. Well, I guessed there was no where in the Bible where it was stated that churches should have schools, or hospitals, so they shouldn't. Many overnight pastors who just come with principles that lacked Logos and Rhema. |
I intend to apply for a PhD programme in the Faculty of Arts of OAU but I was unable to get a glimpse of the tuition. I would be grateful if any OAU PG students can give me the tuition, especially someone fro the Faculty of Arts. Thanks. |
danjumakolo:I dey laugh o. So u mean APC brought Saraki to senate. I'll advise you to do a background check on Abubakar Bukola Saraki. If he goes to NCP today and an election will hold in Kwara Cental tomorrow into the senate, he would still win. APC didn't make him. Instead he made APC in Kwara State. Check it bro. |
If it's true that the president wanted the inauguration postponed because of APC caucus meeting, then I am highly disappointed in him and I am beginning to doubt him. Why must sectional interest override the national interest. The nation should come first not party affairs. The party was aware that the assembly was to be inaugurated on the 9th of June, why can't their peace meeting be earlier. Putting party sentiments ahead of national issues at this time shows lack of respect to Nigerians. Anyway, I think Sheu is just trying to cover up for the part Buhari played in the emergence of Saraki. |
chocolatelady:Bro. Well said. But u don't know Bukola Saraki. In politics, he is well schooled. His political career can not be up because of this singular act. If u have forgotten, Tambuwa emerged as the Speaker of the House after going against the wishes of PDP, and going against his former political godfather. Needless to say that he became a governor today after defeating the same former political godfather who contested against him on the platform of PDP. One thing about Bukky that you may not know is that, he wasn't made by Tinubu or Buhari. His father, a former Senate Leader, now of blessed memory made him, so no one has a bragging right over him. While Tinubu can boast of making several people, he can't do so on Saraki. Even when they were in opposing camps, Tinubu's camp has NEVER defeated Saraki's camp in Kwara Elections; even when Tinubu's camp used someone from a powerful family in Ilorin, Belogore Family. In essence, Saraki is a godfather in his own right and a godfather to himself. He has made people himself who bear allegiance to him as well. Today, he is the biggest weight in Kwara politics and gradually carving a niche for him self in North Cental. I lived in Kwara for so long, and I'm not a supporter of Saraki but I know he's strong. Part of why GEJ was made an acting President when Yar'adua was sick was because of Saraki's efforts as the Chairman of NGF, so the refusal of Tinubu to back him is nothing. That apart, let's move into regional politics. If trouble arises, he can always align with the North. His father's allies are still alive and are active in politics. His father aligned more with the north and he would follow suit. Some like Adamu Ciroma is a crony to his father and would move to help him in the north if need be. If that happens, Tinubu will be left wandering. He can't align with the SE or SS coz they are predominantly PDP and would rather work with Saraki. Besides, the best position the North Cental has had over a decade is the presidency of the Senate and they will do anything to protect it. If they are to produce a future president in Nigeria, they must maintain a top position is government. To me, I believe his emergence, though under a controversial circumstance, will give room for a vibrant senate. We need a senate president who can think for himself and not someone who will be a mere puppet for some people. If you observe the last NASS, some bills which were passed hurriedly by the Senate were thoroughly scrutinised by the House because Tambuwal stood his ground and wasn't under the control of anybody or stupid party agenda. Even when GEJ tried to go rough with him, people rose to defend him. |
2times:You don't know how much you've bossted my morale. I'm just about picking a PhD form this very week. I considered stopping for a while but your advise gave me a strong push. I've always wanted to end my life in a university environment, turned down a lucrative job offer because it would hamper my master's programme. I targeted a PhD at 28 and I'm still under 25 now, so I know it's achievable ny God's grace. Thanks bro. I would like to you better, outside NL. Thanks once more. |

NAS is not a secret cult. I have read their constitution over and over again, and some of their literatures. As an undergraduate back them, my love for Wole Soyinka made me to seek means of joining but I was denied because I didn't have a NYSC discharge certificate. I am now a Master's degee holder but I have reconsidered my options as regard joining NAS because loving Soyinka does not necessarily mean be a member of NAS. If as a non-member who does not want to join, I can know what some members do not know, then they are not operating a secret organisation. I have attended series of their public lectures, the last being in 2012 @ the Conference Centre of UI, and many eminent personalities were their, including top military shots. The association levies members and donate to help some war-torn or disease ravaged areas of the world. I will attach some pictures from the last NAS public lecture I attended. |
This is to inform every prospective applicant to the premier university, University of Ibadan, for postgraduate programmes that the form for 2015/2016 session will be on sale from 8th June 2015, and it will end after 6 weeks. Prospective applicants are to visit www.pgschool.ui.edu.ng for more information and guidelines on how to apply. |
Mixty:Thanks. But based on the research I just conducted online, a master's degree holder is place on CONPCASS 2 - 1, 258, 658 p/a. That's around 104,000 p/a. Is that wrong? Or is the CONPCASS salary scale not effective? |
I will like to know the salary scale of lecturers in Nigerian polytechnics, particularly what a Master's degree holder will earn as Lecturer III in a polytechnic. Any information regarding this shall be highly appreciated. |
The fact that those questions were asked doesn't mean you must come from Winners. I know of some people who are not members of Winners and still got jobs with Covenant University and Landmark University. As for people saying it's wrong to ask for those things, it's a religious organisation and you don't expect them not to make that clear. If an applicant wants to apply to Fountain University for a job, you don't expect him or her to be of another faith, except he or she wants to convert. Someone called 'Oyedepo' a fool...good for you. I can't vouch for him or any man, but if he serves a living God, his God will fight for him. Most people feel being a pastor means you MUST be poor. But no one can ever serve a Living God and be poor. Some people called Adeboye names on a thread here yesterday, and same goes for many other pastors. One thing is, when those people were poor and were sacrificing the little they had, most people saw them as fools wasting their time and resources, but when God is blessing them, people complain and spread hate campaign against them. Well, Jesus himself suffered the same fate. I know there are a lot of FAKE pastors out there who are only set out to make money, but God will judge them all...the function of judging everyone without bias belongs only to God. |
Please has anyone being invited for interview after the screening test which took place on the 25th of April, 2015? Infor will be highly appreciated. |
Uniosun don dey do wayo oo. I was invited for the test, wrote it and scored above 40 out of the 50 obtainable marks, but no call for interview o. I heard the Osun State House of Assembly wants to hijack the recruitment; members want 10 out of the available 18 slots. odutope:@Odutope, Shey u get any info? |
Unilorin students (past n present) rock. I was around that Mark junction (Akata area) last wednesday when I came to collect my statement of result. The school has really changed from what it used to be. I heard Jaywon came to perform at the stadium of late, my VC back then wouldn't have allowed that. In fact, MTN campus storm blast which was meant to take place on campus was held at Kwara Hotel during his time. Great school. A double survivor of the better by far. Representing English Dept. and Faculty of Arts. |
