mikolo80:Me, I am not interested in a good person becoming the president. It was during the Abacha period (as a teenager) that I began placing zero value on the presidency and the govt in general. My position (which I have been pushing for a long time, and which most of us have not come to see) is that we make these public servants gods by paying them too much attention when we know they are low. If politicians fought so hard in the business space, Nigeria would have been one of the super nations by now. But they bring all the do-or-die fight to politics leaving the bussines space relatively free and unchocked. There is so much space and opportunity for more Nigerians to become billionaires in every region of the country. Everyone must work hard and grow themselves into financially secure people through private enterprise. That way, the state becomes possibly poorer than the people and folks stop scrambling for peanuts from them. The balance of power eventually changes. The two main groups of people in my opinion are 1). The organised political cartels 2). The rest of the people largely herded by the cartels. You can choose to be either in one if these two groups, or you could join a third and different group which is not herded by the politicians and whose members place their destinies in their own hands. goodlifehyd, OrlandoOwoh Ovamboland |
I honestly cannot reconcile a verbal championing of the fight against corruption with being escorted by Amaechi to the UN on the one hand, while going after Deziani and Saraki on the other. It is clear that PMB is fighting something, but it is also clear that it is not corruption. I mean, he has even presented some of these known missappropriators to us for approval as ministers. Conclusion: You are gullible if you buy the lies of the APC or the PDP. Work on personally developing/improving yourself. At least you are in control of that |
Keneking:Why is Amaechi's name not in thus list? Is there any reason why it should not be there? |
Too bad. Too sad. Only natural. Actually, I am commenting only because I want this post to go back up to the top. |
AsherStorm:Do not join the SE's arguments or issues with the south-south's. The south east is not qualified to vocalise words about the south-south's issues. Have you noticed that the Igbo nation never existed before the white man came? (Not that it even really exists now). Please it is indeed something of an insult. Let them flaunder alone as they continue to do - searching for an identity outside of themselves and in haraunging others instead of looking inward, inside themselves, to re-evolve and define a constructive national Igbo identity |
omenka:You should know GEJ is Ebele Azikwe just the same way that Bihari is Mohammad Okechukwu Buhari (the name Rochas publicly gave him). Just Nigerian political fooling around. Neither PMB (with his heavy northern accent) nor GEJ (with his heavy Ijaw accent) is Igbo. |
omenka:I am from the south south and know just like other south-soitherners, that Asari does not represent me. In the south-south, thugs are not qualified to lead us. |
damton:I understand that Buhari himself has come out to say that nothing about the light improvement can be credited to him or his administration but to Jonathan's. So why can't we all agree with him? (Modify) |

The Consortium for Food Safety in Africa, a network of organizations involved in food safety issues in the continent ended its biannual conference which held on September 11-12, 2015 at a Nairobi Hotel, in Kenya’s capital. The conference which was mainly held by webcast and podcast attracted many activists and environmentalists and country delegates. Some delegates from governments were present in the hall as interested observers. The main issues discussed relate to the Cassava Mosaic Disease and Cassava Brown Streak Disease. Here are some of the highlights of the exchanges. Environmentalists and food safety activists warned African countries particularly Kenya and Uganda that they were being used for field trials of mutant cassava virus developed by biotechnology companies. The idea was to develop mutant cassava viruses to attack natural cassava strains in Africa and also to develop strains resistant to it as genetically modified (GMOs) cassava. The project was allegedly funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Monsanto through a proxy company called Genetics Technologies International Limited. coolitempa:Self-delusion seems to be some special tonic necessary for the well-being of the Igbo mind. It distresses them to look into history and not see much great about them. So out of that deeply felt unease, they invent stories. They look into history for greatness and get really hurt that they do not find it. They really hate this. It is their outward reaction to these inner feelings caused by the lack of historical greatness that we see in several impulsive & easily verifiable lies being spurted out intermittently by them, all attempting to satisfy that need for historical greatness through fables. |

I am from the south-south and Asari represents no one of any noteworthy repute from the soith-south. He is to me just a loud mouthed thug suffering from a mild case of identity crises on account of having to play the public role of muslim, a role that is not one with his real self. A clown who has learnt to use the gun to enrich himself and who has come to believe anybody thinks he is actuall leading anybody. Asari is only a leader of thugs, a role be has by his own doing, nicely and firmly branded himself with. If he thinks this will change no one else can be blamed for that delusion |
Igbos write lies with confidence as if it were true. There is nothing about this writeup that separates it from the possibility of being some big lie. Even the way in which the OP posted it here does not smirk of intelligence. It is very hard to read. And it is actually a fact that the igbos were the last to be reached by the white man in Nigeria because there were in the hinterland. As late as 1920, some igbo villages were 100% unspoiled and untouched by the presence of any white man. It is highly unlikely they learned to read and write before the yorubas or my own people (at the south-south coast of Nigeria) who dealt with the white man in business and in war, having to read, write and sign treaties and agreements. As late as the 1950s, my grandfather, a south-southerner and business man in Aba would drive his kids to his plantation on the outskirts (Ngwa land). My uncle told me they would have villagers chasing their vehicle and chanting "oyibo! oyibo!" He said they were naked and some had leaves for clothing. These are not the ones who were advanced early at all. The only people they developed faster than are the northerners and only in attaining western education simply because the northerners were not receptive to it. On every other level, they seem to be the noisy and reeetttarded tribe of Nigeria |

speedyGonzales:What beats me is that folks here react to what FFK said as a person who has been attacked would. FFK is Nigerian. I am Nigerian. This does not feel like a verbal attack on me to me. How do I know folks feel attacked? They are either defending or attacking back. Maybe we are just naturally hostile or nairaland has wired folks here to imagine attacks where they do not exist Please read FFK's statements and see if these are not the two main things you get out of it. 1) Concern about the influence of satanism in the creation of Nigeria. 2) Unhappiness about perceived power monopoly by the north. On a personal level, walk away from evil as it is the only thing that can give in the the devil power in the long run. |
dialfa:This claim is true and accurate to the best of my knowledge. Non of them have been hausa although they are from the north |

The four Rivers State Government- owned gas turbines were sold at the cost of $432,800,000.00. The Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Power, Mr. Emeka Obisike Peter stated this while answering questions before the Judicial Commission of Inquiry sitting in Port Harcourt. As a permanent secretary, I was not part of the series of negotiations that led to the sale of the gas turbines”, he said. According to him, the first meeting on the sale of the gas turbines was held in the office of the then Commissioner for Power, Augustine Wokocha, adding that he was told to leave the venue of the sale as it was an investment for which the Ministry of Finance was in charge. He told the probe panel investigating the sale of government assets by the last administration that the sale covered Afam (Phase 1) gas turbine, Eleme gas turbine, Omoku gas turbine and Trans Amadi gas turbine. Peter further disclosed the name of the company that bought the turbines as NG Power HPS Ltd. In another development, the Rivers State Reserved Fund was withdrawn without a specified item of expenditure for each of the four withdrawals. An official of the FBN Trustee Ltd, managers of the Rivers State Reserved Fund, Barrister Olufemi Okin, stated this during a question and answer session at the Judicial Commission of Inquiry. He said on the amendment of the Reserved Fund Law, the FBN Trustee Ltd did not render any advice, as all withdrawals were made subject to a resolution of the Rivers State House of Assembly and the asubsequent approval by the former Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. http://www.thetidenewsonline.com/2015/09/09/rivers-gas-turbines-sold-at-432m-probe-panel-told/ |

lalasticlala:SUGARBEE, mogidi, dunkem21, LadyF, rickrichards, amadice, atlwireles numerouno111 I am from the south-south but I say the Niger Deltans have nothing to protest about because 1) I believe it is not the fed govt building the shipping dock 2) It is not NLNG that it building the dry dock. Any group of business people can come together and invest in any project in any part of the country so long as they are not breaking Any laws. Nothing stops... ::: The Rivers state government from initiating such a project in Rivers state. ::: Individuals with money from rivers state from investing in establishing that kind of project in Rivers state. ::: The Rivers state govt from attracting foreign investment into the state in a foreign + local private sector + govt partnership in order to build something they know is needed and beneficial to the region. Our people should learn to respect the power of private enterprise and use it in their favour and do what they can to improve themselves. Take responsibility Do not take a perpetual beggarly stance. |
These Igbos are the most deluded group of Nigerians whose delusions we all have the burden of bearing. How can you tell a man where he is from when you did not father him? Wait and see the difference between your sick thoughts of hate and that of reasonable and more rationally thinking people. Well, you don't have to. The rest of the world is about to see |
mrsmith11:Having lived in the Nigerian clime, I believe they actually collected less than they signed for. But I believe it is highly likely some of them went ahead and perpetuated the stealing their bosses had already done by keeping some for themselves since the precedent had already clearly been set from above, the money having been portrayed as stealeable right from the top. |
LanreBrown:I don't think this is an intelligent writeup. One cannot lump the disorganized Igbos with GEJ, an Ijaw man with an unmistakable Ijaw accent. I understand some folks are inclined to do this but that is only because Igbos heavily supported GEJ. They heavily supported GEJ because of their superior hate for northerners and because they wanted to feel a sense of power by proxy. In other words, they claimed Ijaws and them were are like brothers and sisters (an incorrect claim) and that it is better to support more like you, than support someone completely different. Ijaws spite Igbos, like many other Nigerians but it was politically correct to not discourage this support at all, all through the period. We know the Igbos are kinda beggarly. We know if an Efik or Ibibio is contesting in future against say a westerner, they will support (again just to feel a sense of power/political success by proxy) When that time comes, it will be right for the Efik or Ibibio to not discourage such support even if Igbos in their usual way try to promote the idea that efiks and ibibios are one with them (so that they can later claim that efiks and ibibios are, and have always been a part of the delusionary great region of Biafra |
