SportsFerguson's Best Ever Squad. by Cougar(op): 11:24am On Nov 13, 2007
manchester united manager sir alex ferguson believes his current crop of players are the finest he has coached in his 21 years at old trafford.
how true is this? the 1996 team and the 1999 team comes to mind because of their achievements.
where do we place cantona, yorke, cole?
is this the best man utd squad ever?

debosky:
I'm tired of hearing AW is/isn't a great manager, its a dull and pointless discussion, so are all the Fergie/AW comparisons
i love the absolutism of arsenal 'fans', and they way they seem to care so passionately about a debate which, lets face it, matters not.
even so, i feel duty bound to point out somethings which i feel need to be considered.
firstly, it is a myth that wenger spent little money and instead procurred unknowns and made them superstars , i suspect bergkamp, viera; henry; petit; reyes; weren't cheap.

and as for bringing players through, it is interesting that only a few of these players are genuine products of arsenal's academy,
what he has done very well is enticing young players from other club's academies, hardly a skill as chelsea's peter kenyon also does the same thing on a bigger scale.
wenger has yet to produce a crop of youngsters of the calibre of scholes; giggs; butt; beckham; gary neville; philip neville; keith gillespie; and numerous other players plying their trade in the premiership.

similarly, i can't think of any players who spent a considerable amount of time under wenger that are managing in professional leagues - contrast this to mark hughes; steve bruce; bryan robson; gordon strachan; alex mcleish; roy keane; etc , so for those moaners who think it's more than trophies, i fully agree.

in conclusion, when wenger's influence and legacy can be felt in the same way as ferguson's . . . . .then lets have a proper debate.

And to leave this debate on a level that gooners can understand, I think it's an insult to ferguson to be compared to a manager who is at least 2 tiers below him in every way including as a leader ,  to those who think that players would rather play under arsene because he's a better manager, i think its probably closer to the truth that he's a soft touch/pussy who's likely to indulge them . . . . . .just look at the disciplinary record and how eager he is to condone their every indiscretion,  shame on you!
SportsRe: Who Is More Popular, David Beckham? Or Tiger Woods? by Cougar: 11:54am On Oct 15, 2007
david beckham is a world brand.
he is the most famous sportsman in the world.
u will find beckham's man utd jersey(7) in any part of the world.
beckham's man utd shirt was found on a kid jumping on saddam's statue in iraq in 2003.
beckham is worshipped by millions as a god/deity in some parts of asia(thailand, japan, phi-phi islands).
he is more popular than woods, kobe and shaq put together.
american athletes are only known in america . . . david beckham is known worldwide.
compare america's 250 million viewers to the whole of europe/asia/and half of africa and figure it out.
no one is saying he is more skilful than ronaldinho, ronaldo or zidane, we are talking of his fame.
the paparazzi that surrounded his arrival at the lax airport in california is the largest since the creation of man.

david beckham is awesome.
