@ teemoe,

manucho scored a cracker yesterday in a warm-up game in portugal yesterday. he looks like a drogba mark II, very agile with good positonal skills.
cant wait to see what he has got when the tournament kicks off in 2 weeks. who knows the provisional squad of the nigerian team?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 11:23am On Jan 07, 2008
@ tkb417,

with the way things are going, i think l.saha's days are numbered. the glazers are lining up £30m to get d.berbatov this month.
on thursday, man utd will announce a massive turnover to the turn of £245m. this dwarfs arsenal's bullish claim to be the richest club in england when they reported turnover of £201m in september. this officially confirms manchester united as the richest club in england and slightly behind real madrid in the whole wide world.
even after spending over £60m compared to Arsenal's £20m on transfer fees, man u still took gunners apart.
brace yourself, exit saha, enter berbatov. grin grin

man utd was worth 800 million in 2005 when the glazers took over.
today, the club is worth more than 1.5 billion pounds.
work that out yourself and tell me if the glazers are regretting.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 6:58pm On Dec 06, 2007
@ debosky,
at this point, it will be highly unfair to compare productivity in goals scored between the 2 groups. the simple reason is because united strikers havent played as many games as arsenal strikers. c.ronaldo is the highest goal scorer in the country in all competitions and he has only started 9 premier league games out of 15 games played. w.rooney has only started 8 league games;same statistics with l.saha.
e.adebayor has started in 13 league games out of 15, c.fabregas has started in 12 league games and rosicky has started in 11. it means all arsenal strikers have reached double figure number of appearances bar rvp while tevez is the only striker in man utd that has reached double digit. i think the overall goal ratio will be a good statistic. wink
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 6:33pm On Dec 06, 2007
c.tevez's misses are many but i still rate him high above l.saha. he is fit, he never stops running and doesn't look the type that gets injured for 9 months. u have to admire what tevez did against sporting lisbon at ot. even the brilliance of c.ronaldo, w.rooney and l.saha couldn't unlock the lisbon defence. c.tevez brought some buzz into the game and united should have scored before c.ronaldo's bullet free-kick.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 6:28pm On Dec 06, 2007
@ chuckdee4,
don't let us be deceived by these missing players. fabregas played against sevilla and arsenal still lost. if he didnt play at all, arsenal fans will be quick to say arsenal would have won convincingly if he had played. comparing the players united missed to arsenal's is a bit unfair because i don't know any player in arsenal that is half as good as c.ronaldo. if u add rooney and saha to it, then we are talking about 60+ goals. rvp+cesc+hleb+lehmann does not even come close to rooney + ronaldo.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 6:05pm On Dec 06, 2007
its ridiculous! 4 points gap is nothing when 69 points are still up for grabs. at this stage, chelsea and liverpool are potential contenders for the title so let no one celebrate a 4-point gap that could be lost in one single week during the festive period. 2 draws is enough to knock arsenal out of the top spot provided united wins 2 games. 3 wins in 7 games is a bit disappointing but let us hope the gunners tighten up their belts for other crucial fixtures this month.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 5:52pm On Dec 06, 2007
@ i-man,
i disagree with u. c.ronaldo plays better on the flanks. besides, tevez might have missed from 4 yards but his work-rate should not be underestimated. he never stopped running against fulham but he was so unlucky in front of goal to cap a 5 star performance. tevez's miss was not as bad as ronaldo's miss against aston villa/sheffield united(cant remember again). r.giggs square play found ronaldo with an empty net and just 2 yards out but he poked the ball over the bar. remember? n.anelka also missed from 6 yards with the goal gaping.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 5:34pm On Dec 06, 2007
@ loyika,
i disagree with you. man u is not chasing shadows. ferguson's lads have got their eyes locked on the title. man u is not unbeaten run-crazy. we have won 9 titles in the premiership on the back of 4-5 defeats. the number of wins is what ferguson counts not the number of losses. last time i checked, united made 28 victories last season, arsenal only had 26 victories in their unbeaten season so which was better? what makes a team great? i believe its the ability to bounce back from a defeat that defines greatness and this is why muhammad ali is still the greatest in boxing history. wink
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 2:03am On Dec 06, 2007
well written, well composed. if every arsenal fan is this objective then the world will be a better place.
however, i think u were a bit harsh on gilberto and rosicky. gilberto is low in confidence and rosicky is definitely better than what we all witnessed today.
rosicky was a bit ineffective today because the other players around him in the midfield cannot patch on his wavelength. when he makes runs, they dont pass quickly to him and diarra holds the ball a fraction longer than necessary. the title is still open and its there to be taken by anyone with the heart and grit.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 11:13pm On Dec 05, 2007
@ justkunmi,
its not that easy. man utd will also face liverpool on the day chelsea visits the emirates. any of the teams could lose 3 points on the day. the turning point this season will be the festive period, feb-april and the team with less injured players will win the premiership. i still think chelsea is a threat and its not over yet.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 10:57pm On Dec 05, 2007
@ toba1909,
arsenal mal-functioning without v.persie,c.fabregas and a.hleb is a fact. u need to go and see the second half of the last 2 matches to believe this is more factual than rubbish. i have never seen arsenal so outclassed in the league this season. arsenal was on the ropes in the closing stages when newcastle had about 4 corners in succession. a good team would have ended the unbeaten run tonight. a.ferguson was spot on: he predicted this and it happened.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 10:51pm On Dec 05, 2007
@ vieira,
what about o.martins? i think he was the biggest culprit. he couldn't hold the ball and he kept giving the ball away to the african players in the arsenal team. for a moment, martins was just clueless, uncouth and shambolic. newcastle's best player was a.smith. he epitomised the english spirit and was involved in everything. arsenal missed their big players and i think adebayor had an outstanding game by his low standards. shocked
g.silva looked rusty and eduardo was very poor. he will end up to be another a.reyes/j.baptista. arsenal's number 9 shirt is becoming a jinx.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 10:40pm On Dec 05, 2007
@ i-man,
trust me-newcastle could have woon the game if they had the belief. they played arsenal off the park and applied profound pressure.
its now an open secret that arsenal cannot function without fabregas, hleb and rvp. newcastle outpassed and outwitted arsenal for most parts of the game. what a relief! alan smith was awesome. he reminded me of the game he had against chelsea when he was at man utd. the chase is on.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 1:02pm On Dec 05, 2007
@ i-man,
to an average arsenal fan, arsene wenger is god. that barca paid 16 million for henry was even too astronomical. henry was 30 when he moved to barcelona. besides, ruud boy was sold for 11 million to real madrid despite his goal scoring prowess at man u. there was no way henry could have gone for more than 16 million so lets stop this wenger could have pawned him off at a higher rate.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Cougar: 12:35pm On Dec 05, 2007
@ i-man,
surely, henry wanted to leave but the major reason behind his exit was the divorce with his wife. henry felt he wouldnt be able to handle the tabloids so he was determined to leave the shores of england to avoid the sun's paparazzis.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 7:22pm On Dec 04, 2007
@ i man,
interesting point. all i know is fergie must sign a left back and at least 2 strikers. they dont have to be high-profiled strikers. kewyn jones of sunderland and maybe g.agbonlahor and a left back to deputise for p.evra should be considered. l.saha's days are numbered at man united. fergie must get 2 tall strikers to complement w. rooney and c.tevez.
@ justkunmi,
i was only joking about anderson/p.scholes theory. for all anderson's brilliance, he cannot shoot straight at the edge of the box. thats one area i think he must work on. apart from that, he has vision, energy, awareness and skills. he is only 19 and i am positive he will get better. the only question is, when do we take the top spot?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Cougar: 6:55pm On Dec 04, 2007
@ justkunmi,
did u get a sniff of the match last night? i am beginning to think p.scholes might find it hard to break into the united team when he gets back. anderson is making frantic efforts to keep the ginger man out of the team. i hope he will grow up to be another keano while cesc becomes the vieira in arsenal and they do the business like it was done back in the days. united wasted too many chances on the night and c. tevez should have scored 4 goals in the first half. we need to start scoring goals and i hope we can take derby apart and spank them 6-0 for the gd. however, u might be surprised the scoreline might end 1-0 as united likes doing things in a weird manner.

@ debosky,
there u go again, i am chatting away like a parrot just because u don't agree with ma views. if i reply u now with something lethal then an argument starts and people will say the trouble-makers are here again. i wont travel the long distance of tomfoolery with u and i will restrain myself from having verbal exchange with anyone here. however, let it be known that my shying away makes me no coward. every man has its price and i can also bite when pushed against the wall. i have made ma views clear since the thread started so i don't know how u can infer that i am citing i-man's opinion.
@ i-man,
u are so funny. u really think i am chacal? well, i will take that as a compliment. do u know when all the banned members will be unbanned?
Nairaland GeneralRe: Jackal: An Asset Or A Nuisance To The Sports Section? by Cougar: 6:27pm On Dec 04, 2007
@ mrpataki,
i-man is correct. just like we don't like football players pushing a ref to use his red card we should not tolerate forum members calling for another member's ban. the events that led to jackal's ban clearly showed arsenal fans couldn't handle the jabs and they petitioned the admin to have him banned. arsenal fans couldn't take the heat when they lost at seville. man u fans went to arsenal fans just like the way arsenal fans come to man u threads to jeer. man u fans take these cheap insults but arsenal fans cannot take it. thats so unfair, it should be discouraged.
@ akola,
reporting someone to the admin is a female trait. why not nudge the offender and tell him to apologise instead of facilitating his/her ban. we should learn to tolerate one another. at the end of the day, this is virtual. football is too passionate and sometimes people have to let go to ease the tension. name me any sports blog that people don't use bad language to express their views.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Jackal: An Asset Or A Nuisance To The Sports Section? by Cougar: 6:16pm On Dec 04, 2007
@ i-man,
i'm very sure arsenal fans were behind jackal's ban and the locking of the man u thread. why ain't i surprised? they are the same everywhere u go. they are moaners. they have a way of always starting what they never intend to finish. granted, jackal overpushed his luck but gunners are guilty of flooding man u thread with cheap shots whenever man u fire blanks. so why make jackal the scape goat?
jackal will be unbanned soon and all these cowards who hide behind masks to type nonsense and report to the admin should put a check on it. this reminds me of the jews when they turned their backs on christ. they gave him away and when he was being led to golgotha, they were crying and sobbing. human beings are so complex you sometimes wonder if it's really worth bonding on a forum.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Jackal: An Asset Or A Nuisance To The Sports Section? by Cougar: 1:17pm On Dec 04, 2007
seun's forum, seun's rules but that does not warrant him getting involved in rifts amongst the forum members. it takes 2 to tango. a and b had altercations, by law, the 2 parties are guilty so why let one party walk free and ban the other? i dont support any offensive comment from any member but one law must apply. seun's approach of always using the double standard should be condemned. jackal is not the only member of this forum that gets aggressive in a heated argument. the manner by which seun has handled this case is immatured, biased and unacceptable.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Jackal: An Asset Or A Nuisance To The Sports Section? by Cougar: 11:34am On Dec 04, 2007
this is serious. so this banning spree was initiated by a woman? but why lock up the red devil's thread? is this female member an enemy of what is good?
@ justkunmi,
what is the point of using this forum when the fans of man u cannot rub minds together? i think the purpose of me using this forum has been defeated by cheap politics and senseless management. where am i supposed to go and contribute? the filthy sexuality thread where the most dangerous nigerian perverts catch their vibe? please don't start another thread. the old thread should be unlocked so people can express their views. arsenal fans should do whatever pleases them but the red devil's zone thread must be activated. angry
Nairaland GeneralRe: Jackal: An Asset Or A Nuisance To The Sports Section? by Cougar: 12:03am On Dec 04, 2007
i think seun is acting a bit childish. why lock up the arsenal and red devils thread?
someone needs to tell him the truth that he is acting like a sissy. he should as well lock the sports thread. and who are the people responsible for this banning and unbanning? i guess they want us on the sexuality threads where perverts like them abound.
SportsRe: For Gunners (no Uninvited Guests Pls) by Cougar: 5:30pm On Dec 02, 2007
it makes no sense at all. why lock the arsenal and man u thread?
he can as well lock the whole sports thread to drive his point home that he doesnt want us.
go to sexuality-romance/perverts thread and see what is being allowed to go unnoticed but we cannot discuss sports because it is offensive to some set of people.
