Imagine an Africa where crackers weren't constantly sabotaging the economies of every nation. I would wake up in my nice condo in Lagos, make breakfast with some delicious fresh local produce and spices, and have my meal on my large balcony with the hum of the city as music. I'd take my Nigeria-designed, DRC-manufactured cell phone out and plan for my upcoming trip to Luanda for a week-long music festival. Then I'd book a cabin by Lake Tanganyika for a month in the summer. I'd sit down to start my work day on my Nigeria-manufactured, Angola-designed laptop, and head into a meeting with supply chain partners in Angola, Kenya, and DRC. I'd make a mental note to stop through the "Little Louisiana" neighborhood to get some gumbo for lunch, and to remember not to miss the first match of the Nigerian Open. Later, I'd read an article about the controversy surrounding Cote D'Ivoire's use of a directed energy weapon on a European aircraft that entered their airspace without permission.

The first victims were the nobles of the old regime; the trial and execution of Marie Antoinette on 16 October 1793 was followed by the death of the hapless Duke of Orléans, whose adoption of the revolutionary name Philippe Égalité did nothing to save him from the scaffold. Madame Elizabeth, sister to the late king Louis XVI of France, was executed later in May 1794. For decades, the Colorado Fuel & Iron Company had practiced every kind of industrial extortion or tyranny: overpriced company stores, lax safety standards, patriarchal social control, importation of scabs, exacerbation of ethnic rivalries. A coal miner in the district was three times more likely to be killed on the job than the average American laborer. Workers lived in company-owned hovels, which is why, when the work stoppage began, the UMW provided families with tents. Near a tiny railroad depot, miles from any town, Ludlow was the largest in a topography of camps that altogether housed more than 10,000 strikers. on Monday April 20, 1914, the first shot was fired at Ludlow. One of history's most dramatic confrontations between capital and labor |

Random thoughts: 1.) If this is the way you view women, you don't actually like women. You love men. 2.) This kind of woman is wonderful, and if you think like op, you don't deserve her. 3.) Ladies, refusing to be intimate is a good way to weed out bums. |
Trend Alert: Private Payers Retain Profits by Refusing or Delaying Legitimate Medical Claims https://premierinc.com/newsroom/blog/trend-alert-private-payers-retain-profits-by-refusing-or-delaying-legitimate-medical-claims Insurers Deny Medical Care for the Poor at High Rates, Report Says https://www.nytimes.com/2023/07/19/health/health-insurance-medicaid-denials.html William E. Bennett, MD Pediatric Gastroenterology Associate Professor of Pediatrics Associate Professor of Urology https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10391242/ As a specialist who often orders expensive medications, I find a significant portion of my week is spent addressing denials from insurance companies. Our team has extensive experience caring for complex, severely ill patients. We make recommendations after careful consideration of the risks and benefits, examining the patient, reviewing the chart in detail, and meeting with the family to understand their preferences. Then, our recommendation is countered by some sort of denial—either an outright denial or a request for prior authorization, which usually amounts to a denial with the opportunity to appeal. This practice by payers is directly harmful to patients, and the health care system, because it (a) amounts to an unqualified entity practicing medicine with limited information about the patient, (b) does not actually contain costs, and (c) is not an effective method to improve care quality.

Analysis: Health insurance claim denials are on the rise https://www.pbs.org/newshour/health/analysis-health-insurance-claim-denials-are-on-the-rise-to-the-detriment-of-patients A recent KFF study of ACA plans found that even when patients received care from in-network physicians — doctors and hospitals approved by these same insurers — the companies in 2021 nonetheless denied, on average, 17% of claims. One insurer denied 49% of claims in 2021; another’s turndowns hit an astonishing 80% in 2020. Despite the potentially dire impact that denials have on patients’ health or finances, data shows that people appeal only once in every 500 cases. |
The CEO of UnitedHealthcare was fatally shot in what police said appears to be a "premeditated, preplanned targeted attack" outside the New York Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan on Wednesday morning. Brian Thompson, 50, was on his way to speak at UnitedHealth Group's investor conference when the gunman approached from behind and "fired several rounds," Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a news conference. He was struck at least once in the back and at least once in the right calf, Tisch said, adding that the gunman was "lying in wait for several minutes." "Many people passed the suspect, but he appeared to wait for his intended target," she said. Security video shows Thompson, dressed in a blue suit, walking down the fairly quiet street. The gunman approaches him from behind and opens fire, it shows. Thompson stumbles forward as a witness runs to safety. The gunman continues to fire as Thompson falls to the ground, the video shows. Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said the shooter arrived at the scene about five minutes before the shooting and fired at Thompson’s back. "The shooter then walks toward the victim and continues to shoot. It appears that the gun malfunctions as he clears the jam and begins to fire again," he said. Three live 9 mm rounds and three discharged 9 mm shell casings were found at the scene, as well as a cellphone near the scene. Kenny reiterated that the shooting appears to have been a targeted attack. "The motive for this murder is currently unknown, but based on the evidence we have so far, it does appear the victim was specifically targeted," he told reporters. "But at this point, we do not know why." Thompson, who lives in Minnesota, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai West. His wife, Paulette Thompson, said he had been receiving threats. "There had been some threats," she told NBC News. "Basically, I don’t know, a lack of coverage? I don’t know details. I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him." She said police had told her it appeared the shooting was "a planned attack." The shooter fled on foot and then on a rental bike, Tisch said. He was last seen in Central Park. As of Wednesday morning, no arrests had been made, police said. Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information. Police said the gunman was wearing a black hoodie and black pants and carrying a gray backpack. It is believed he used a firearm with a silencer, a person familiar with the matter told CNBC. A food cart vendor near the scene told NBC News that he did not hear any gunshots but saw police vehicles and two helicopters in the area. UnitedHealth Group, the parent company, was holding its annual investor conference Wednesday morning in New York City but abruptly ended it because of a "very serious medical situation" with a team member. The company said in a statement that it was "deeply saddened and shocked." "Brian was a highly respected colleague and friend to all who worked with him," it said. "Our hearts go out to Brian’s family and all who were close to him." Thompson was named CEO of UnitedHealthcare in April 2021, according to his biography page. He joined UnitedHealth Group in 2004. He previously was CEO of UnitedHealthcare government programs, including Medicare & Retirement and Community & State. He was also the CEO of UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement. Thompson is survived by his wife and two sons. --NBC News UnitedHealth uses faulty AI to deny elderly patients medically necessary coverage, lawsuit claims https://www.cbsnews.com/news/unitedhealth-lawsuit-ai-deny-claims-medicare-advantage-health-insurance-denials/ UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was facing DOJ probe for insider trading when he was killed in targeted NYC shooting https://nypost.com/2024/12/04/us-news/slain-unitedhealth-ceo-brian-thompson-was-facing-doj-probe-for-insider-trading-report/ UnitedHealth under antitrust investigation by DOJ: reports https://www.healthcaredive.com/news/unitedhealth-antitrust-investigation-doj-unitedhealthcare-optum/708727/ |

from At the Dark End of the Street: Black Women, Rape, and Resistance--A New History of the Civil Rights Movement from Rosa Parks to the Rise of Black Power by Danielle L. McGuire The kidnapping and r-pe of Recy Taylor was not unusual in the segregated South. The sexual exploitation of black women by white men had its roots in slavery and continued throughout the better part of the twentienth century. The r-pe of black women by white men continued, often unpunished, throughout the Jim Crow era. As Reconstruction collapsed and Jim Crow arose, white men abducted and assaulted black women with alarming regularity. White men lured black women and girls away from home with promises of steady work and better wages; attacked them on the job; abducted them at gunpoint while traveling to or from home, work, or church; r-ped them as a form of retribution or to enforce rules of racial and economic hierarchy; sexually humiliated and assaulted them on streetcars and buses, in taxicabs and trains, and in other public spaces. Between 1940 and 1975, sexual violence and interracial r-pe became one crucial battleground...Civil Rights campaigns in Little Rock, Arkansas; Macon, Georgia; Tallahassee, Florida; Washington, North Carolina; Birmingham and Selma, Alabama; Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and many other places had roots in organized resistance to sexual violence and appeals for protection of black womanhood.

Tanzanian opposition youth leader Abdul Nondo has been found following being dumped at a beach, less than a day after he was reportedly kidnapped in the main city of Dar es Salaam. His party, ACT Wazalendo, says Nondo was severely beaten and injured and has been taken to hospital. The party’s deputy chairperson, Isihaka Mchinjita, said the politician had been blindfolded and repeatedly assaulted while being threatened with death. The police have issued a statement confirming the incident at Coco Beach late on Sunday night, saying they are investigating the matter. They said he had been abandoned at the beach by his abductors and had sought help from a motorcycle taxi rider, who then took him to the party offices. “From there, party leaders rushed him to the hospital for treatment. We are investigating and we will take legal action,” police spokesman David Misime said on Monday morning. After visiting him in hospital, Mchinjita said in an earlier update at 02:00 local time (23:00 GMT), that Nondo had been beaten “for a long time” before being dumped at the beach where the abductors “removed his blindfold and handcuffs”. “Nondo said his abductors threatened him, warning him that if they capture him again, they would not spare his life,” he added The motive behind his abduction is not clear. On Sunday, ACT Wazalendo said Nondo was snatched minutes after he had arrived from the western region of the country where he had been campaigning for the party's candidates in last week's local elections. He had been taken from a bus station in Dar es Salaam in the early hours of Sunday by two individuals travelling in a white four-wheel-drive vehicle. The police now say investigations are under way to identify the suspects and determine their motive. This incident follows the kidnapping and killing of a senior leader from the main opposition party in September. In that case, Chadema’s Ali Mohamed Kibao was taken from a bus, beaten and then doused with acid. President Samia Suluhu Hassan denounced the incident and called for an investigation into the murder. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr56n49md6po |

An unknown disease killed 143 people in a south-west province of Democratic Republic of the Congo in November, local authorities told Reuters. Infected people had flu-like symptoms including high fever and severe headaches, Remy Saki, the deputy governor of Kwango province, and Apollinaire Yumba, the provincial minister of health, said on Monday. A medical team has been sent to the Panzi health zone to collect samples and carry out an analysis to identify the disease. The situation was extremely worrying as the number of infected people continued to rise, said Cephorien Manzanza, a civil society leader. “Panzi is a rural health zone, so there is a problem with the supply of medicines,” Manzanza said. Sick people died in their own homes for lack of treatment, Saki and Yumba said. A local epidemiologist said women and children were the most seriously affected by the disease. A World Health Organization spokesperson said on Tuesday the UN health agency had been alerted to the presence of the disease last week, and it was working alongside DRC’s public health ministry to make further investigations. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/dec/03/unknown-disease-kills-people-south-west-drc-democratic-republic-of-the-congo |
Either you're naturally thin, or you just need to train. Wiz Khalifa was bony, and it only took a year for him to get this body (see pic below). He achieved this through weightlifting for an hour a day and thai boxing training. If you're naturally thin, you won't really fill out (naturally) until like 30. And if you train in a certain way, you may be skinny for longer than that. But don't start taking supplements or anything like that because you'll only damage your body. There are things you can do though if you're naturally thin. Try to make your back and shoulders a bit bigger. Basic movements help here: Pullups Dips Pushups Swimming (don't do too much or you'll lose size) Also, maybe you can't get that much size up top, but you may be able to develop your legs more, which will fill you out and make you look fitter. Basic movements help here too: Lunges Squats Jumping movements (these can be dangerous, do your research, and be careful) Also, you can still do some weight training even if you can't afford a gym. Buy adjustable dumbbells. If you can't afford them, you can make some out of cement, sand, car parts, rope, tires, and other scrap. But be careful. Make sure things are secure and you're not at risk of injuring yourself. Also, make sure you're not doing too much, too soon. Some basic movements for dumbbells: bench press curls reverse curls row squat lunge fly raises overhead press deadlift Whey protein powder is a safe supplement, but make sure it's just protein and doesn't have anything suspect in it. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/1a/69/94/1a6994d04dccb79413cf09f14de4bb65.jpg |
You're too focused on the negatives. 1.) You don't have to go permanently. 2.) You can quickly build a home, acquire investment properties, and setup businesses in Nigeria, given the exchange rate. 3.) You may get a job there that allows you to easily secure a good position in Nigeria. 4.) Lagos is only a 6-hour flight away from London. ETA: Being based in London would make it much easier to secure a good oil and gas position. Bro! $$$$$$ |

There is no such thing as "s** work." It's sick and evil to attach the word "work" to trafficking. That's what it is, trafficking, whether they consent or not. Society and law should be protecting people from these kinds of behaviors, not encouraging destruction. *knock on wood* I don't think Canada will snatch your PR. I hope not. I think their biggest concern is the Indians flooding the country. Have you considered some other possibilities? 1.) How uncomfortable are you willing to be? Have you explored IT jobs working on US military bases outside the US? 2.) Do you have enough to invest in real estate in Canada? 3.) What does your wife do for a living? Is she training in something high-paying? |
