Cozy, thanks ones more.

Pls i wonna ask again, ist wise and advisable to make a specific travel plan like booking of flight and hotel reservation before filling the DS 160 formhuh
You can always make ur travel plans but not necessarily booking your tickets yet. At least have an ideal when, which airline, price, which hotel and the prices. You can them have them on hold before you have your interview if all remains the same or with slight changes in price.

Thanks a lot Cozybunch

But am not super clarified yet,
When filling her DS 160 form, which surname should i put for her, mine or the one on her passport??

Thanks
Use the one in her passport because it is still her official name. When she starts change all her official documents to ur last name which includes travel documents, them your last name kicks in

I just got wedded and planning to book an appointment for my honeymod vacation in Us. But my wife has a current passport before i married her, which bears her own surname not mine.
so what am i to do, is she to do another pasport at my name, or is the DS 160 information to be filled is a enough proove that she is my wife?
though we have marriage certificate.
And again when filling her DS 160 form, which surname should i put for her mine or the one on her passport??
I WOUULD APPRECIATE UR KIND ADDICE, TNKS

i was issued a 2 years US B1/B2 visa, i used it once, when it expired, i apply for a renewal and i was given another 2 years, due to work pressure i cannot used this visa and it is going to expire on the 8th of October 2015, i know i cannot use it. if I am going to re-apply for a renewal, can i used a drop box process or I am to be present. or what do I need to do now that will avoid any denial.

Thanks;

Sorry you cannot use drop box. They have to see you for you to explain why you never used your visa. You have to have a solid reason why you never used it for a whole 2 years

Everybody knows

Johannesburg is better,

Nigerian Gdp is oil base not diversified, plus with a population pushing about two hundred milion in a country the size of Arizona state, while most African countries have population around forty milion how do you not expect a bigger economy

And the name giant of Africa, most countries gives themselves such names, Ethiopia for instance calls itself spirit of Africa, Kenya, pride of Africa among others, I took Ethiopian and Kenyan airways and they had this all over.

Does not mean anyone outside Africa calls Nigeria Giant of Africa( which I believe is population base) I never even had of this term until I joined naira.
How can you say nigeria a country size of Arizona state. The only state in u.s that is 2.5 times bigger than nigeria is Alaska. Even texas as big as it is is not bigger than nigeria. Nigeria is 9 hundres thousand square feet plus, Arizona is 2 hundred thousand square feet plus and texas is 6 hundred thousand square feet plus.

Dude, i know the US has 50 states with puerto rico been seen as an unofficial 51st. It's onlt a matter of time.
It is soley depends on them. If they want to, they will vote on preposition on it and pass it on to the U.S congrats as a referendum. The congrats will vote on it and the 50 states will vote also. It only requires 2/3 of state vote before it makes it to the president's desk for signature. It takes time to annex.

It is the 51st US state the same way hawaii was the 50th even before it became a US state.
You can not say Puerto Rico is a state or the 51st state in U.S till she is properly annex just like Hawaii and Alaska is. They are still territory just like Gwan, America Virgin island and Antigua is. Infact all the territories has their individual or countries passports and can still obtain American passport if so wishes. It is the formal agreement with them with the U.S congrats.

They are all considered U.S nationals but not citizens with the right to vote but solely when they are in U.S soil of established residents example any U.S states.

No need to call names here as we all are here to help each other. No body knows it all. I may have all the expansive travel history and lots of years at my back leaving in states but stlll learns each day from every one here.

There may be need to study old post for questions relating to or the same with which one has. It doesn't look good for repetitive questions. I have read 1 in 10 posting that ask my chances of getting visa, no body here issues visa and can answer that question. Another question being asked alot is what documents to provide, whereas the u.s website gives detail information on what is expected and in previous tread has that question, answered.

I am amazed on the wealth of knowledge here on all participants and I do expect continues respect for each other and freedom of information given. I made mistakes in my younger days in life when it comes to traveling, if we had a forum like this back in the days, most of us older, would not not make those mistakes. Please very important we respect each other, thanks

Good Luck you all

I understand what bigamy is and that is why I used it. Numbers there means that she can get married and divorce and marry again and divorce as much as she fall in love and fail out of love. Thats what I mean by saying no numbers to number of time she can marry.. hence there is divorce

I have a question about this b1/b2 visa. I am a 33 yrs old US Citizen and my boyfriend of 1 year is from nigeria.he is 36yrs old and we met here in the US on one of his visits. He currently has a b1/b2 visa that is valid until 2016 and visit's me in Texas often. We would like to get married here in the US during his next visit in December, he will be here for 3 weeks and will return to nigeria in January 2016. I know that it is ok for us to marry in US with his passport as ID as long as he intends to return to nigeria and not stay in US.

My question is, he was once married before and he has 3 kids but he is divourced now.
Can I go ahead with the marriage ? And after our marriage here in the US, can he decide to stay here while I file for him or must he return back to Nigeria ?
There is no limit to how many times you can marry under U.S law hence there is no bigamy involved. You should be more concern on filling emigrant visa application for him.

You file spouses petition, depending on the current processing time and in what jurisdiction your petition goes to which depends on the state you are residence in.

He can not stay in U.S for adjustment of status simply because you don't want him to be illegal or overstay. He can still be coming to visit while his emigrant petition is going on. An average spouses petition is 18-36 months period.

Good Luck.

If he's LEGALLY Divorced and not merely seperated, then its legal for the marriage to happen. Mind u, if he isn't divorced, bigamy is a crime both in the the US and Nigeria.
He can only stay within the time frame he's stamped in for. One can file for an extention pending the regularization but I understand if the application for an Extention is refused, he has to leave the US immediately (@LagosNIV please correct me if I'm wrong on this point)

damidamsel:
Hi All, Please I would like to seek advise on the Canada visit visa I am about to apply for. A bit of background: I stayed in the US for about 4 years on student visa, my mum and siblings are citizen and LPRs in the US. I visited Canada in 2013, reapplied and got another visit visa till 2015. I was to visit again in August 2015. My husband applied for a visit visa so we could go together but he was denied (for the second time as he does not have travel history), so I had to go alone. I spent a week in Canada in August and left exactly when I stated I would. My current visa is still valid till Dec 12 but I intend going by Dec 17 for 10 days so I want to apply for a renewal. However I want to include that my husband would accompany me with a letter of explanation stating that I visited the Niagara in August, loved the place but could not see much and would love to visit with my husband again to return before Dec 31 so we can celebrate new year in Naija (quoting $5000 as available fund with leave letter stating we would be paid while on leave). What do you think are our chances. I currently earn over 400k monthly, my hubby earns about 180k. Combo of our accts would have abt 2m (due to some recent spendings, previous statements would show balances up to abt 4m). Any advice otherwise?
Writing a letter will not make a difference. Chances of him getting a visa as a couple is always high regardless of non travel history. You guys can always reapply again and focus on the importance of traveling together as couples.

The snag to your present arrangement is that December is not certainly a good time to visit Niagara, it is unfriendly weather conditions which will be a concern for the VO. I think you may have to rethink on your arrangements.

SapeleDon:
@dirtygamer Puerto Rico is a US Territory, just like the US Virgin Island,Guam(which is close to Japan and Korea) and Northern Mariana Islands.

To go there you need a US VISA handled by the American Embassy. Puerto Rico is not a country but a territory.

Its just the same thing like the UK. You cannot apply for a Scottish Visa,Wales or British Visa as some people usually call it which is wrong. You can only apply for a United Kingdom visa because the UK has four countries inside it.(England,Northern Ireland,Scotland and Wales)this are the four countries that makes the UK, so it will be like you going round looking for a SCOTTISH EMBASSY as there is none.

To process your school in Puerto Rico you have to go through the US EMBASSY.
Puerto Rico is a country of its own and a u.s territory also. There is a big difference betweena Scotland and the rest in u.k versus u.s and Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico citizens still has there own passport and can carry u.s passport if they wish so, Scotland doesn't.
Puerto Rico citizens are considered u.s nationals and not u.s citizens. You may go and research on the difference.

Your best bet is to make a self explosive travel plans (hotels accommodation, reasons of your trip and so on). Reasons been, relationships such as yours may mean well but always suspicions.

Even with a visa waiver passport to states, cbp officers still look at it in a funny way because they consider it that you don't know the individual too well. Yes with your waiver status if with enough money and no criminal background they still allow the individual. If they have concerns with those with such status (visa waiver passport holders), how much more you (Nigerian) with stright administrative restrictions.
Make your own arrangements, if successful, you see her in your trip.

I will refuse to draw conclusions that you want to settle in states if successful in your application as any one else has stated. The intends is only known between you and your maker. You don't have to keep defending your self, it makes no sense.

Hello house. Please I need a step-by-step guide. I hitherto wanted to go for my Masters in the US .Everything was set, I got my F1 visa with relative ease( thankfully) . Along the line, a lot of options came up and I chose the Job.

Now, I have to travel to the same US for business development (work related sha). I read somewhere I may not be granted any new visa since my F1 Visa is still active. I'm skeptical about using my student visa for non-academic activities.

Now has anyone been in my shoes? How did you handle it? I have an active student Visa and I need Visiting Visa. How do I go about it? Thank you for your response in anticipation. kiss
You will not be allowed to enter in without the purpose of student status. Coming in with F1 visa will require the cbp officer ask you quentions and proper documentation with sole purpose of coming to school. Coming for business purposes with a student visa is mixing apple with orange. Your F1 visa will be concealed with prejudice. With that type of condition you will be banned from coming to u.s for some time

Hence you have change of mind from studies, you have to go and apply for b1/b2 visa which gives the VO the authority to conceal the F1 without prejudice. There is nothing wrong with change of plan and nothing wrong with giving them updates of your new status.

@belloluddy answered correctly. Northing illegal but may, remember the word may, face serious questions for a first time traveler.

Now depends where in texas you are going. If dallas/fort worth municipality area, you can rent a car and drive it. It is a straight one high way 35 going north. If Houston or Austine or other big cities in texas it will be a long journey up to 6hrs or more.

I have tried to keep away from this poe debate but because my brother Dyke (and a fair nos of people) seem to be in a state of mild panic, I'll throw in my 2 kobo.
There are 2 possible scenarios. In ur interview u stated u were going to xyz state
1. U decide to go to xyz through abc poe. What is the crime in that? If you are asked why are u coming through abc. The answer is simple. Cheaper ticket buut I'll end up in xyz through jetblue or virginamerica or by greyhound. This is my ticket here. Most times sef, when u buy a ticket for egs to vegas, with klm your poe is boston. The poe questions are all drawn from your landing card and visa interview.

2. You change your mind pata pata and decide to go to JKL state. What is the crime there? U have a valid visa.
The only tricky abi sticky issue is where u now give an answer CONFLICTING with a material point at the interview.
Egs ques- where are u going to stay
Ans- with my elder brother
Meanwhile at the interview u said 'from the time of John the baptist no member of my family has entered the US' cheesy
Suspicion now arises. And a lenghty poe interview will likely commence.
Mbok let's not like to panic when our hearts are pure. Unless u de enter US with evil mind. Then be very afraidddddd cheesy grin cheesy
There is no issues but sister I have seen and hard little things you may considered not an issue becomes a big one and visa concealed.

I am a constant flyer and have drawn personal experience and others. Wouldn't start going on personal experience now.

You can enter the US through any point of entry. The officials are aware that sometimes travellers take connecting flights. You can explain that you will be travelling by road or air to your destination and that you want some travelling experience
You meet an indifferent officer, you wouldn't be writing this. Visa gives you right to enter any point but having a final arrival in a different location is unnecessarily inviting when traveling first time. It is not illegal but can sometimes give nightmare if inspected by an officer that cares.
