Please a quick question, can I present two different statement of accounts, am sponsoring myself and my total fees plus living expense is about 8M naira.I have 4M in one account and 4M which was recently transferred into my other account. Please respond.
Bro.. Please can you get a sponsor for support?.. For self sponsorship, you have to prove more funds than the minimum required funds from CIC. In fact, you will need to proof 2* of the required funds. Getting the exact tuition+living expenses for self sponsorship is not the best.

Mehn...This list is pretty long, IMHO, i think the response time/rate from CIC this year has been really poor, I mean I don't know if am off point here but this list is proof don't you think. All I was familiar with was the 8-10 weeks thingy even when the processing time was way longer. The only two explanable reasons I could think of is perhaps increase in immigrants application to Canada due to Trump's unfriendly immigration rhetorics (IRCC must be experiencing a surge in application rate right now) and possibly the recent Nigeria's Foreign exchange crisis (which I think has been a lil bit stable lately). Anything else, I think this new 'pattern' is just unusual and worrisome to say the least.
I wish there was someone in authority we could email or something.
Bro, I think paper route is faster now. Response time is not more than 8wks for paper route except in some exceptional cases.

The rate of refusal for 'PURPOSE OF VISIT ' is becoming alarming! Program consistency, masters admission, PHD admission, consistent work experience is seemingly not just sufficient again. Everybody is now susceptible to this reason of refusal! I have seen in a couple of days refusals that have left me speechless!

I'm thinking our overal plan and reason for going for the program MUST be just beyond convincing. We must begin to pay enough attention to our applications and emphasis the need to pursue further study while also stating objectively what we stand to get with it. This interest of further study show be in such a way that it was a planned step. From undergraduate study through to current activity coupled with our achievements prior to applying should show significant progression. This way, our intent will appear more delibrate than situational. The current country situation is not helping matters and the scrutiny of visa(all categories) applicants is becoming outrageous. So any move will be subjective.

I guess CIC now pay attention to intent rather that consistencies of some sort. I'll advise that we do more work in making sure our intent both with our intended program and after study is overwhelmingly outlined and evidenced through showing recent achievements, short term goals as well as the longer term ones reflecting that a higher degree would further add to them.

Like i mentioned in one of my posts recently, admission is purely meeting academic requirements while the study visa is all in one. It goes beyond having acceptance or funding from a school. The Why, if, when, and how must all add up because God's mercy and grace is always available to us when you do our part. It's like a principle we must follow in one way or the other.

It's well!

Bros I too dey feel you.

Gone are those days when purpose of visit is only meant for PGD/PGC. Now, Masters and PHD applicants get it free of charge. I could remember before this year it was not so. Even this same last year some Masters/PHD applicants got TRV without SOP. For few weeks now, I have heard of several masters applicant get delayed for purpose of visit alone.

My people, SOP is now key to getting TRV. We must now be more convincing in our short and long term plans. One of my suggestion to a friend is to get registered towards certifications related to his field. This suggestion was after I was shocked for his delay and didn't have other thing to say. Its DAT bad my people. We can as well have plan B (in case) cos these people are not predictable anymore.

All the best

1. Is immigration your ultimate goal?

2. If yes, do you know your current profile qualify very well for immigration and you don't have to wait till after PhD?

3. If yes, have you started the EE application?

If yes, congrats in advance.

If yes to question 1 but not 2, pls be aware that your profile qualify for something called Express Entry and you may have your PR ealier than you ever imagine. Join below thread and read from page 0. If you still have your passport, book IELTS GT and prepare hard for it.
https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/440

The Express Entry is more direct and easy than study route. However, if you jump into it without learning the basics, be aware that they can reject it's application, and there is 5 years ban for fake documents too.

If anyone, I mean anyone, in this house have a master or law degree or HND, and at least one year experience in an organization that can give you reference letter, join the Express Entry route and nairaland group(please read from page 0). It is easier, legit, and faster for your PR dream.

To those that quote and reply long text without deleting part of it, please change. Goodbye house. I am going for three weeks break. I believe someone is handling the Visa list very well.

It shall end with praises. cool

Regards,

Osemigho
Bros I dey greet o.

I understand PR is the best route to immigrate to Canada. In fact, if you can get it then you can do further studies at a very cheap price.

BUT we should also consider the fact that if its that easy to get PR from naija, den half or 3/4 of Nigerians will be in Canada by now. There is one crucial exam called IELTS which you much get perfect scores of 8,7,7,7 and its that bad DAT you will not get PR even if you get 8.5,7,7,6.5. I have seen several people write this exam more than 10 times. Another factor is patient and uncertainty. What if the scores keep rising?.. Don't forget by june, Express entry will favour those who have siblings in Canada more. So express entry may be on this rising by then.

My point: Every decision has its advantages and disadvantages. I can choose student route and get to Canada within 3 months and prepare to follow restrictive rules and pay BIG money for fees or wait for PR which may take more than a year plus uncertainty and have everything to yourself in Canada.

the purpose of visit is clear because that BUSINESS I think has no relationship with MECHNICAL ENGINEERING. even if a program relates to our undergraduate let it also fall in line with our current activity/employment/job responsibilities in other to show career progression especially if you ain't a FRESH GRAGUATE FROM THE UNIVERSITY. na we dey use our hands give ourselves ''purpose of visit''. in 2015 what were you doing as I sensed a GAP there? in 2016 till date you told the VO you do business? na here purpose of visit begin show. The VO didn't see what MEng program in Mech.Eng would benefit to your current situation as a businessman.

my thought though
I dont even understand this purpose of visit thing anymore. If he opted for a businesses related course cos he is into business then we will say his undergraduate studies is not in line with proposed studies. I have seen someone on this thread that got this same purpose of visit with perfect course (Masters) and well related work experience.

Am thinking nowadays TRV is based on Overall profile of the applicant and sometimes poor SOP.

With due respect sir, what do you expect this applicant to do in this case?.. Do you expect him to start looking for job in his field?.. Kindly throw more light please.

My view: TRV is getting tougher nowadays. Nigerians have disappointed us in canada. We should all be prayerful and hopefull. All the best

ok so how much will you put in the account to cover 10k cad? Will you use the banks exchange rate? I wish to know
I will show a at least an amount equivalent to the bank rate. 10,000*360/1.35. This is because CBN had already stated PTA rate to be 360/ USD on circular submitted.

Good morning house, ON THE ISSUE OF WRITTEN ASSURANCE FROM BANK THAT CIC REQUESTED FOR

Please who has gotten the written assurance? And what are the possible steps to get the written assurance

From my own interpretation CIC is asking for assurance that the money will be "ALLOWED" out of the country, they have no doubt that the money is available but the possibility of exporting the cash is what they want to confirm!

I once heard someone talk about bankers assurance on this forum! What's that? Will it fly in this case and how can one get it!

Please gurus we should deliberate on this an have a formula for tackling this on this forum for the sake of future applicants because this is reality! It is now a requirement!

Cc:@justwise @osemigho @austinepee4 @michv @folaroyal @thesoj @yemdogg @eraytee @penitential @mikymiko @mcobex @nelly28
Let me tell you how I will go about this without any stress.

1. I will pay tuition fees for first year and make available the remaining balance for living expenses in my account, preferable a dollar account but I wouldnt mind if I have it in my naira account.

2. I will walk up to my bank and request for a letter called Banker's Confirmation Letter. This letter will confirm that you run an account with the bank and with amount you have in deposit with the bank Assuming the funds in your account is for your living expenses.

3. I will search for relevant circulars from CBN confirming I can export funds and get funds for PTA easily.

4. I will then write a well structured letter confirming the funds in my account is for my living expenses in Canada and attach all documents stated above.

*** I wouldn't disturb myself one bit after putting forward these documents.

*** I believe i will be allowed to give additional proof on my living expenses at the POE but till then.

*** If the VO is not still satisfied then he should return my passport so I can move on with my life.

I just want to say that, behaviours such as this from Nigerians is what eventually complicates issues for other Nigerians. An increase in cases of Nigerians cancelling their schooling after getting PR for example, will only lead to an increased difficulty for Nigerians on student visas to get PR approval. Just see what has happened with TRVs, waiting long months when other nationals get their visas in days. We really should do better. Even if we know we are not genuine, we should try not to do things that will make our ingenuity obvious enough to jeopardize future chances of our Nigerian fellows, or even future generations.

Congrats all the same bro.
Guys abeg I don't understand this quote. Please what is the essence of schooling in Canada?. The end result has been achieved then wat else?... This guy will end up paying as low as 3k for fees if he choose to study further. I believe the main objective is to get PR.. Option 4: Look for another sponsor(s) (Family, friend or associates) with your dad. Let them follow the format of Partial fee payment and transfer money to your account.

Option 5: Rather than sell a house, your dad use it to get a loan with low interest from a company, family, friends or associate, while signing agreement on bit or lump sum payment plans.

All the best.
Thank you Osimegbo. I appreciate your response. Your option 5 sounds good. I don't think I have any family/friend that can lend up to 3mm. Please can you suggest a company that can lend such amount?. Dads properties can be used as collateral. Market value should be over 200million. I am ready to pay any interest.

Hello Guys. I will like to say a very big thank you to all the gurus in the house for guidance so far. I got an admission into UNB MBA program starting Sept 2017. My major issue now is proof of funds. Personally i have about 2mm in my account and my sponsor who is my dad is a retired staff of CBN. He has 2mm balance with regular monthly pension inflow of 500,000 and turnover of 30mm within 6 months and there will be an inflow of about 6mm into his account by September. While using the Oanda Convertion tool, i realised the amount i need to present in my statement as balance is 7 million. I am considering the following options and i need advise from you guys in the house

Option 1: Apply with current status of statement and submit all my documents for Visa Application and hoping for a miracle

Option 2: Borrow like 3mm to add up to account and apply. The issue with this option is that i have tried to borrow funds from Friends and Family but to no avail. I will love it if anybody can help me with reliable info of any person or organisation that can borrow me that sum of money to apply for Visa. My dad has several Land properties and houses to use as collateral.Well he planned selling one of his properties but its been underpriced

Option 3: Deffer admission till next year when funds will be much available. This is my last option and i will be sad to go by it.

Please house kindly advise me on the best option to go with.

Thank you
