manny4life:Stiff competition from red box, please park well. Netflix has moved into the original content space, It will continue to keep them relevant for years to come and given the way consumers want their content(on demand A la Carte). They are a bit ahead of the game. Sure they might not have the most current but what they do have speaks for itself. The original content shows speak for themselves e.g House of Cards, Orange is the new black, Daredevil, Peaky Blinders etc In as much as it is a win for IROKOtv, this also means Netflix can now garner the African consumersand that is a space that is still not tapped. Nevertheless it is a win for those in diaspora |
kyrios:Nigerian politicians never cease to amaze me. All na wash |
cunlay007:One of the questions you asked was, "what could be the motive of recording their conversation". I answered that question. You have conveniently neglected that fact. Learn not to forget the questions you asked before you end up looking like a child. |
cunlay007:You do realize that presidential calls regardless of the nation are recorded , whether they choose to release it is a different story |
neenar:It was a requirement..lol, please shift. How many times have Nigerian politicians signed agreements and never stuck to it. What GEJ did is the norm around the world but It is celebrated as a historic occurrence because Nigerians tend not be good losers and a Nigerian politician has never done it before plus in a society of mediocrity, doing the right thing should be recognized. Even GMB that lost in 2011 did not congratulate GEJ, but because of this simple thing GEJ did, history will be kind to him and a lot of Nigerian youth will get to live a little bit longer. |
Asuokaa:You do realize Toronto is in Canada, not America. |
I don't buy into the Federal character concept in Nigeria. This concept only works when we know EDUCATED groups of people who work hard and should be considered on merit alone are being shut out. The problem with federal character in Nigeria is that mediocrity is accepted even when it shouldn't. Why cant we allow the best man/woman to do the job and be recognized for it?, Why is it so hard for Nigerians to see the bigger picture? Any observant individual knows that our Northern brothers and sisters in most situations cannot qualify on merit(due to lack of education) but yet they will be quick to shout federal character. Please park well and let the folks with the knowledge get the job done At the end of the day, if the right people are in the right positions, it is all of us that will benefit from it. |
kart042000:Jonathan did not ride on the back of anyone to become president. Let me explain, the original plan if the north had succeeded would have been for him to resign and have another northerner become president but constitution says when president cannot carry out his duties(according to defined parameters in the constitution), the VP takes over. GEJ was chosen as VP to appease the south and because they believed he could be walked all over, no one thought he would grow a spine when the "iron throne" was wide open. As to his contest and reelection, I agree with you, the populace got him there In Nigerian politics, money will take you far and this has been going on for a long time, as the saying goes, he who pays the piper calls the tune. The same way 21B naira went to GEJ is the same way Tinubu and friends are funneling money to GMB. If GMB becomes President, will Tinubu go and sit down in his house?. The people spending don't operate charities. We can talk about masses all day but we Nigerians are comfortable living in abject filth, if we wanted things to be different, it would have happened a long time ago Until the people are ready to rise up and stand in the streets for days, nothing will change |
fareed69:If you believe that the press does not use sensational headlines, then its safe to say you don't know much about how the press generates traffic to their content. Let me give you an example "GEJ slams OBJ about corruption statement". Did GEJ really carry OBJ and slam him on the floor?. The added effect of the wordplay is to bring drama and bait people into reading the stories without doing due diligence on their own as to what happened. |
kart042000:I am glad you asked that question, in defining the cabal. Lets take a step back and look at Nigeria, the nation itself is a defined construct by the British. 250+ ethnic groups were squeezed into one geographical location and power to rule them all was left in the hands of the ethnic groups that consist of the northerners. This was done because it was easier to control the north then(less educated, little exposure, less-patriotic) while allowing resources move to Europe. I think this were the born to rule mentality that northern elites tend to have comes from. If you look at the people who have been heads of state starting with the first republic, you will notice more than half of the past leaders have been from the north. You will also notice that most of them rose to power through the military. So if we want to define a cabal that has hindered the growth and prosperity of Nigeria, I would say the cabal is the northern elites and their military counterparts. The same cabal back in the day is still the same one that is around. If you notice in this upcoming election, there is no top military brass who is in support of GEJ, the military will always protect its own. The reason GEJ is regarded as a failure is because of his inability to tackle the terrorists. To rule Nigeria is not an easy task, you must drop bricks on big toes of powerful people and GEJ has been using pillow all this time. Of course, the northerners will see this as weakness, Yardua died in power so they believe they must complete their tenure and if I am not mistaken, oil block licenses are up for renewal in 2016 God dey . . . |
kart042000:Nigeria has always had leaders with will power but they were cut short, look no further than the founding fathers of this nation. The issue is not will power, the issue is which leader is ready to put their life and those of their families in clear and existing danger. Do you think its easy to fight the cabal |
shiningshina:GEJ is not the real problem here, the real problem are the people blocking his way. The importers of generators, those who fix it, those who sell the spare parts, lets not forget those supplying the needed fuel to run it. They will forever continue to fight those who try to change the status quo. Until those who lobby against constant electricity are stripped of their power, candle and generator is the way forward |
Look at how the media misleads a lot of Nigerians, The president said “I have lived up to my campaign pledge to make the power sector a priority,” The media reported it as "I have fulfilled my promise on power sector". This is nothing but click bait just to continually bash the man over statements he did not make. Tell us what he said and not what drives sensational headlines |
chibas:Can you tell me where exactly I said I was in support of a "question and answer session" as you called it. You mention local language, so when APC goes to Enugu for a town hall meeting, will GMB speak igbo? or will he need a translator. If a translator is required, then why not have them for all (or major) languages on different tv stations as well while both candidate speak in English in a proper debate on national tv. We have translators for sign language, this is nothing new. It is essential that we hear both candidates speak on the issues that affect everyday Nigerians and have a chance to query each other face to face. Going town hall style only attracts party loyalists, People will not leave their job/take a day off to attend this meeting, but if you have a debate on tv. It is a guarantee that everyone will get a chance to see what both candidates are made up of, straight from the horses mouth. |
woodcook:The same can be said for other administrations |
Truth24:I see you went with the classic response, if you cant come up with a good answer, change the subject by attacking the person. Clap for yourself |
bettercreature:How do you know the report is fake, do you have concrete proof? |
Truth24:How is destroying public and private property good? |
Johnbosco77:How do you know GMB will win? |
berem:You people are funny, interact with who?. A town hall meeting will only ensure he can talk to a small segment of people(who most likely are APC supporters already). There are 170m + Nigerians, should they not get a chance to see both candidates speak and grilled on national TV. |
olatade:what about the debate proposed by channels tv?, what is the excuse? |
Collynzo419:There is nothing innovative about this, town hall meetings have been going on for a very long time, its just not frequently used in the Nigerian political scene, a series of debate will always reach a wider audience because of publicity especially for those who may be outside the country. |
mastercee:You do realize that is not the PVC card |
chimere66:Don't mislead people, that is the National e-ID card not the PVC card |
That is not the PVC card oh, It is the national e-id card |
Don't mislead people, that is the National e-ID card not the PVC card |
