I have said it before and I will say it again, you cannot run an economy on generator, one day it will quench |
As I have mentioned before on previous threads, fixing Nigeria is not rocket science, we have the people and ideas, just get them in the right position and get out of thier way. This fuel crisis is a sad but necessary situation It shows how vulnerable we are, any time the West doesn't like what we are doing, all they need to do is block our ports and watch Nigeria crumble from within or capitulate to their demands It shows how dependent we are on imports, that is a risk for National Security. We need to fix and privatize our current refineries and build more. FG must ensure the sector is regulated fairly. Oil subsidy is not sustainable long term, power should no longer be in the hands of oil marketers We must also get the gas sector working. We have one of the largest reserves in the world and most of it untapped. This gas can be exported and in fact even used to meet our power needs. Again, privatization is key here, with proper FG regulation. Government has shown they cannot do it by themselves alone. In terms of power, we need a proper grid being supplied by gas and our dams. All the knowledge is out there, the infrastructure is the issue, let private sector take over distribution and FG worry about regulation, so they don't overcharge the masses Once we take care of these issues, foreign investments will come back into our markets and that means economic growth and development for us all. It also means there will be a bigger explosion of small business owners and Nigerian banks will be more willing to lend credit to these businesses The exports from oil and gas to Europe as well as exports of electricity to other West African nations can be used to service the countries debts. Whatever isn't used to pay debts should be split between investing into the economy(hospitals, roads, education, sports, arts) and saving into a sovereign wealth fund that can be used in times of national emergency We must also see cost cutting as a necessary measure, Nigerians tend to be flashy, we need to cultivate the spirit of saving money for a rainy day We must suffer hardship now in order to get it right later. |
stayblack:Why are you trying to generalize a whole group of people. Park well abeg Go back and check your spelling "Trustfull", "Wounder" |
soe:What criteria are using to determine the best place to interview? Are you saying there is no suitable place in all the states in Nigeria? |
nerodenero:Perhaps he should start with Tinubu, OBJ, Saraki, IBB. Danjuma, or do those ones have immunity? |
People have been asking for her head not knowing, she MAY, MAY oh be blameless and is just outing all the cabals and providing evidence to GMB. |
This has always been my worry with the north, most of them cant be tolerant of anyone who does not believe in their religion |
GMB must surround himself with technically competent people. He has all the political will from the Nigerian masses and the international community. Take this country to greatness, if someone tries to derail you, expose them on tv. |
apeoyemojo:just curious, do you have solid proof or are you going off soundbites? |
"I found myself two months pregnant" - you have had two children in the past, how did you not see the signs |
The lawyer has the right intentions but is going about it the wrong way. We should be focused on nation building for ourselves and generations unborn, title will not put food on the table Good day everyone |
Rawani:N30 billion was not received only what was approved, I know people who work at NIMC and they vouch for this DG. The allegations against him are just that, allegations. They are free to probe as much as they like, that man is blameless. |
Rawani:look at all the financials, not just 2011 |
Rawani:The FG approved the N30 billion, what NIMC got was N17.2 billion, the remaining money has not been released. |
Rawani:Here is where some people might be confused, the DG asked for N30 billion to be used over a certain number of years , In sept 2011, that request was approved by the FG What most people do not know is that ONLY N17.2 billion out of the N30 billion has been received by NIMC. The remaining money has not been released. So when people complain NIMC is slow, I have been waiting forever etc. It is not their fault, they can only do so much within the constraints. The mere fact that the total amount was not released should show you that there are forces at work trying to derail the project. In addition to that, N940 million was spent on redundant workers who were sacked in 2012. The remaining ones they were trying to sack to get rid off the "old guard" committing fraud is why they are now saying the DG embezzled which is false. As a side note, I believe the 2014 report will soon be published. |
Brandnew2:The ID card is already out, but not everyone is going to get it at the same time, I actually have a friend who used his own to withdraw money in front of my eyes. I was so happy. I am just waiting to collect my own. |
Brandnew2:well, now you know |
Rawani:I cannot do research for you, but I cant point you to where to start to see all the information http://www.nimc.gov.ng/ http://www.nimc.gov.ng/?q=resources The second link has all the financials you want, annual reports, policies etc |
abdnMe:NIMC is trying to do the right thing, look at how the judicial system is failing us. |
Brandnew2:You know that is being done right? |
Rawani:This is all smoke, no fire. Doesn't anyone find it strange that the DG has been there for almost 8 years now, not once was he accused of anything and the minute he decided to sack people found to be fraudulent and hand them over to the police, he is accused of embezzling by the unions. They are a trying to tarnish his legacy and reputation. As it is commonly known, if you cant attack his work, attack his reputation They accused him of embezzling 30 billion, if anyone bothered to investigate, they would see that, The FG has not even released that amount of money to NIMC. You can read all of NIMC financials for yourself and verify. It is audited every year, yet all the news media are carrying it like its headline news. Such a shame how people will fall for anything they see on tv. |
redcliff:NIMC is not redundant, they do have a database, but you dont know about it. |
redcliff:Chinyere - crescendo studios in Anambra Abdulmalik - abdulmalik farms in Abuja Alice - Switbud enterprises .... do i need to go on? |
It seems multinationals are convinced, lagos is the only place they can set up their businesses and I dont blame them giving the current business climate in Nigeria The FG should give them incentives to look at other places |
ba7man:No one is questioning that bad eggs are there and sometimes attain prominence, but I am asking why shouldn't they think of themselves first Who exactly is you guys, your community, do not assume. |
ba7man:Why shouldn't they, what is Nigeria doing for any of us? |
ydass:Printing money into existence is a bad idea especially if citizens have to foot the bill and there is interest attached to it. |
nduchucks:Not true, I think you can hold both |
freshness2020:On the contrary I am normal and I know a whole lot about the current NIMC project. Who cares how long you have been going with the temporary card, for your information, if you have enrolled you are giving a slip not a card, you will be called when the card is ready. I know and have seen people with the ID card with my own 2 eyes. It is you that has mental issues. |
If GMB thinks he will solve the Niger Delta problem with military force, he will be shocked not only by the response from the international community but also by local indigenes. Thank God for social media, what happened in Odi, Bayelsa state will not repeat itself. there will be evidence for all to see. People are quick to shout oil belongs to Nigeria, but pollution, soil erosion, poverty stricken communities belong to Niger Delta. We are watching |
freshness2020:Your ignorance is showing, if you had been following the project all along, you would not have made that statement |
msmon:Care to explain what you mean by the DG should face justice, you are implying he did something wrong. What did he do wrong? |
