It doesn't surprise me till today that we have not gotten constant power supply right Many Presidents have tried and failed because they did not take it seriously. What do I mean by this Before Nigeria will ever get constant power supply, we must crush the generator cabal in this country. They will not give up their bread and butter so easily As you are crushing generator cabal, be pushing a green energy initiative towards the oil and gas cabals, seduce them with tax breaks to keep them busy At the same time, bring in consultants from countries that have gotten power supply right to strategically plan with our best and brightest to get Nigeria to 100% power supply within 5 years Investment will have to be massive, so take a complete plan to the World bank and IMF to get the loan. By the time we get the power grid and distribution right, investments and infrastructure growth will overwhelm this country that the loan will pay for itself. It is also important to note that taking on a project of this magnitude means that you will need to get ready for the fight of your life, so maybe you use ICPC and EFCC as distractions to keep detractors busy and get the work done before anyone can decide to misbehave Nigerians should also be trained as the grid is being built, we fail to maintain things in this country |
Someone please help me understand how PMB should be taken seriously when he fraternizes with Tinubu, one of the owners of corruption itself I guess you cant bite the hand that feeds you |
Look at what the ministry of information has become, they might as well given him the title of propaganda minister or become the 3rd presidential spokesperson What bothers even more about this is that PMB believes that this man has something to offer this country So sad, what a shame |
Threaten, probe, order, drags, wails, setup committee. These are the media backed words that the politicians use to keep us docile. If we do not demand state autonomy, we are not ready as a country. simple. |
We never learn in this country Now is the time for police reform, take a cue from countries that have state police. This where we should be going Nigerian police should be federal police and each state has their own e.g kaduna state police, delta state police, lagos state police Let each state be accountable to themselves. When you hear about another state police keeping crime low in their state, governors of other states will be forced to take notice, police must be from their own community, live and work there. If police misbehave, you know they cant run far.If citizen misbehave, they know your father and mother. The sooner we build institutions, the better for all of us. It will solve all this problem of tribalism,if you steal police funds, crime rate goes up in your state, you are doing yourself. Everyone in that society will sit up because they will not allow a stupid person to jeopardize everything |
enigma2007:I hope the process was transparent, because Nigeria . . . |
provided they go about the exercise in manners that will not interfere with locations already given to other stakeholders what exactly does that mean, already given to other stakeholders? |
Funny how someone that wants to fight corruption has a shady background |
How far we have fallen when what becomes news is if someone showed up on time or not. How is this going to improve the falling naira |
The money ur corrupt leaders are investing in US, Canada , UK Are they not your leaders as well? There should be a better way to protect landlord and tenants What about a landlord protection agency, could be one for the whole country, or one per state. The agency is charge of drafting lease addendum rental binder agreement basic rental agreement they will create the baseline for all those documents which tenants agree to and are enforceable by law There could also be a tenant and fairhousing act(might already exist, i dont know), if done well, it will protect rights of all tenants regardless of state Tenants should have 10 days to pay up and get evicted Wrong approach here, give them a window in which after expiry, a late fee applies in addition to the regular bill, after another window, go through the court system for eviction, if it gets to this point and tenant does not want to go to court, tenant will have to pay the regular bills + late fees + court costs + legal fees. For example, rent is due 1st of the month late charge applies on the 6th day of the month 16th day of month - eviction court notice, with trial set for future date This gives everyone wiggle room because you dont know what can happen tomorrow and people will not say they were not informed |
GoodFaith:The government need to grant Mortgages to people at low interest rate . . . with which money? The rent collection system is broken, everyone knows that but its this way because everything is uncertain |
PentiumPro:Let me stop you there, government should not fund more mortgages. Private lending should be the backbone of the housing market, you can have a government agency to keep the lenders in check but having the government funding it is simply guaranteeing that rent rates will increase because that money will always come from the government |
I have said it before and I will say it again, Nigeria is not ready for change. The biggest mistake Nigerians made was buying into the APC ‘change’ buzzword. There is no plan or direction. GEJ may not have been the best choice but he was not part of the old boys military cabal that rubbished this country. Instead PMB was elected, a man who spent PMB announced boko haram would be defeated by December, ask yourself if we are going to meet that timeline 5000K for unemployed, now minister of information, Lai Mohammed, came out and said its only for vulnerable Nigerians. Perhaps he has failed to realize that vulnerable Nigerians outnumber unemployed graduates PMB gave Solomon Dalong, a 51 year old lawyer with NO SPORTS BACKGROUND, portfolio of Minister of youth and sports. Is that not a square peg in a round hole What about the fact that government has virtually no policies on anything, if you know where they are listed, please let me know. Then lets not forget the social media bill nonsense, doesn’t that smell like 1984 all over again, the new and improve decree 4. What about the Biafra situation, instead of going to the drawing board and finding structural policies that benefit those areas and the nation at large, you send more police and the army, how will it not turn bloody and violent? You don’t throw fuel into fire and not expect to get burnt. What about his frequent meeting with the british, we know they began the problems for the country but for the love of God, cant you find the solutions at home, there is literally all the resources we need under our feet If we want this country to change, the current political class must be eliminated, I don’t mean resign to some villa somewhere, I mean 6 feet below or expel them from the country. IBB, PMB, Saraki, David Mark, Tinubu, Obasanjo, Obanikoro, FFK. The list is many but star from here We know the solutions to our problems but until we apply the Jerry Rawlings principle, full House Cleaning we are not ready. Anyways, my rant ends here. God bless all |
The upsetting thing about all of this is how quick the media is to let us know where PMB is going to, the same media cannot ask about any of the policies or report fact based news |
But no one is under investigation for BokoHaram, please shift let us hear word |
raumdeuter:Which part of the word 'allegation' do you not understand. Until there is proof whether you like it or not that person is innocent, so dont talk about what you dont know |
please go and sit down |
continue in the footsteps of the previous DG |
nelharry:You do realize they are still in the pilot phase plus you can check the status of your card online |
piagetskinner:explain? |
Sijo01:It doesnt affect the cards that have been issued |
The real question is what do you want to do. As you think about it, consider the following factors Job outlook Current salary conditions Your own passions How many years to complete the degree What you intend to do with the degree after school Interview folks who already have such degree to see if it falls in line with your future plans Finances Once you weigh the pros and cons, i am sure you will come to a reasonable decision |
They want us to continue to be import dependent. They then reported us to a ‘world’ trade organization which they control. Any sensible government knows they should try to make exports more than imports. The whole of Africa should harden their policies against the west and EU then trade with Russia and China. Lets see how the west will get the resources they want |
naijapips02:There is nothing wrong in asking for Biafra. If the FG has nothing to hide or be afraid off, call a referendum and let the people decide |
We Nigerians have not learnt our lesson After the first incident, it should have been a wake up call to ensure that a FAIR SYSTEM was built for all. Instead the masses remain in poverty with no path to economic prosperity or even the hope that one day the common man can become an oga If war comes calling (God forbid) we know which way the British will act and it will not bode well for either side. Social media is available now, you cant hide a war. Call a referendum and settle this issue once and for all or build a real country FROM SCRATCH. |
mapet:The unbanked population is also covered under the NIMC scheme, the prepaid payment capability on the card covers this |
drlizzy:Thankfully, hearing something does not mean it is fact, what you heard is an opinion and on top of that, it is wrong |
Todugbo:What you are stating is incorrect. Lagos has 15 different centres http://www.nimc.gov.ng/?q=nin-registration-centres |
If the minister decides to use his/her own money and buys 1st class ticket? |
I laugh at PMB. He still has not figured out he cannot do everything by himself. After shouting subsidy should be removed, you are still paying. The oil marketers will continue to have the leverage until we fix refineries Want prices of goods and services to be reduced across the country- fix roads and sea ports Want crime to reduce - allow the CSO (governors of each state) to be in charge of police in their states, if they terrorize their state, no federal allocation for you, simple Want generator importers to stop milking this country - stop glas flaring, use that gas to power our systems needed to distribute electricity, let private sector handle distribution, FG does generation. Want to get rid of the oil marketers and all the subsidy loopholes and corruptions in it- fix the refineries and maintain them at 100% , public and private partnership Want investors to come flooding into the country - tell them our economic policies and ensure our regulatory agencies are keeping people inline Want EFCC and ICPC to function - fund them well and ensure there is no immunity for anyone Want the jobless youths to get back to work - large scale agriculture and farming, join the army, navy, airforce, police, more entrepreneurial grant programs Want Nigeria to stop being tribalistic - teach the younger generations the truth on where this country began (HISTORY) and choosing competence above all else I know its not easy but at some point we must realize that in the end all of us will benefit, short term difficulty for long term prosperity Governance is not rocket science, we just dont have enough honest people at the top that hold enough power to fix it |
Scrapping or reforming NYSC is only dealing with the symptom. We are not tackling the disease. Federal Character plus many other issues, In a reasonable society, the best man/woman is assigned the job because at the ends of the day everyone will benefit from it. In Nigeria, we want to be sectional about everything then wonder why nothing works |
KingOfFTC:Since he is laying foundations, please tell us the policies that he is laying the foundation on |
