Combination of issues.
Take it one at a time,
[b]1. find out where the water is leaking from. U can leave the engine on in one spot, if it's not dropping from radiator or hose then it's evaporating from d engine side. If that's d case then there is no remedy, (Am assuming original top cylinder gasket was used when u changed it) Engine is worn out.

I really can't accertain the quality of the gasket. As per leaving engine running in one spot that I have done. I have even had to remove reservoir container to examine it for leakage. Prior to changing gasket, I would notice the water in the reservoir boiling...in fact that was the main reason I changed gasket.

2. Overheating when AC is put on even when there is water in radiator
Either fan isn't blowing at optimal speed, radiator cannot carry d load or engine is worn out.
Change both fans (motor) to a Tokunbo one and check d fan fuse, make sure it's working properly. If problem persists, Change radiator to a new double cell one. If that doesn't solve the problem then (assuming top cylinder gasket was original) Engine is worn out.

Let me get the agbede guys to have the radiator washed on Monday and see if any noticeable difference. Will have no other option than to change to double cell if it doesn't salvage the problem.

Personally, I don't have strength for overheating problem, as soon as engine starts that nonsense and I am sure fan and radiator are good I just change top cylinder to original one, (no compromise on that) and check thermostat, If that doesn't work..I replace d engine. No time for wasting of money to be doing buckle bom buckle bom

I once drove mine with a broken rear stabilizer rod and the impact was felt immediately.

If by drag you mean engine sound? Yes. There's this heaviness about the engine as soon as the ac is turned on.

I haven't worked on the compressor per say, though I remember changing compressor pulley and condenser but that was a long time ago

For the 3yrs I've been using my car, I can't remember ever adding anything to my reservoir.
Both water and coolant.
It has always been dry.
And I don't experience any overheating.

The only time my car overheated last yr, just the Fan engine was changed (cos the fan stopped working) and car got back to life.

Why do u prefer to change water pump rather than radiator. If water pump is bad u will not even drive for upto 1km before engine starts to overheat.
If water is drying up in ur radiator then u don't need a soothsayer to tell u either ur radiator is bad and leaking or the pipes are bad or water is leaking from engine. So if u change radiator and fix d pipping and problem persists then ur engine is g***.
If overheating is connected to putting on AC then it's a fan problem, but if and only if water isn't reducing from d radiator.

By the way, I tot u said it's only when u accelerate or climbing a hill that the engine overheats?

IMO.... that Driverpreneurs engine is g***.
He has changed top cylinder gasket, changed to double cell radiator, added extra fan, and added coolant still yet.

Thanks boss for your concern. The accelerating issue has stopped remarkably so, but currently, the problem at hand now is that the radiator reserve container dries out after driving several km and this drop in water level does not happen in the radiator.

Now, this is another aspect that confuses me. Even when the reservoir is full, when the ac is on the temperature starts to rise and it doesn't go down until I put the ac off.

In summary:
Reservoir dries up after driving several km, provided I fill up, car temp remains below half mark on the temp cluster.

Temperature rises above the half mark the moment I turn on the ac and drive for several km even if reservoir is full

No sign of visible leak as radiator remains full even with all the above stated issues.

I bought a car last year for my online Taxi business which was a decision I had to make in order to save my business from the current economic realities. The car is a Honda civic 2003, I must say the car really helps in terms of fuel economy and cost of replacing damaged parts. But then the car overheats when the sun is out with the AC on, the over heating only occurs on hot days but lately regardless of the surroundings temperature the car overheats after 2 to 3 hours of driving. I have literally tried everything from changing radiator to replacing head gasket to flushing engine block and adding additional fan that comes up when I turn on the AC all these efforts never solved the problem.
In a desperate search for a solution I have taken the car to a very professional mechanic with all gadget and tools needed to give a finally solution.

Please kindly keep us posted here regarding this issue if and when it is solved as I am currently facing similar problem.

In my case: car temp goes up when ac is on but normalizes when off. Radiator reservoir dries up and once the water level goes down the temp starts to rise. I've had to change 2 radiator caps and a head gasket change with the hope it will solve the problem but no luck.

So, finally I was able to locate the agbede people that I was adviced I take the radiator to; this will be done on Monday...fingers crossed. However, if this doesn't solve the problem then water pump will be changed next.

...changing the radiator for me will be the last resort.

It’s not just a pipeline, it’s a window into the future; a future in which Europe and Asia are drawn closer together into a massive free trade zone that increases their mutual power and prosperity while leaving the US on the outside looking in. Warmer relations between Germany and Russia signal an end to the “unipolar” world order the US has overseen for the last 75 years. A German-Russo alliance threatens to hasten the decline of the Superpower that is presently inching closer to the abyss. This is why Washington is determined to do everything it can to sabotage Nord Stream and keep Germany within its orbit. It’s a matter of survival.

That’s where Ukraine comes into the picture. Ukraine is Washington’s ‘weapon of choice’ for torpedoing Nord Stream and putting a wedge between Germany and Russia. The strategy is taken from page one of the US Foreign Policy Handbook under the rubric: Divide and Rule. Washington needs to create the perception that Russia poses a security threat to Europe. None of this is reported by the media, instead the focus is on “evil Putin” who has amassed an estimated 100,000 troops along the Ukrainian border threatening to plunge all of Europe into another bloody war.

All of the hysterical war propaganda is created with the intention of manufacturing a crisis that can be used to isolate, demonize and, ultimately, splinter Russia into smaller units. It means the overheating is connected to the fan not blowing at full speed, cos d weak battery isn't supplying enough current. I recall I kept hammering on making sure fan is blowing at full speed.

Ii don't want to get over excited just yet. Now let's suppose for a minute that the battery didn't supply enough power for the fans, but why overheat when accelerating; the breeze coming in from the surrounding should help cool the engine. Will continue to observe.

Okay, so today I ordered for battery online, and it was delivered at home. Original price of battery was 26k but seller says they buy old ones and deduct the money from the price of the new one, luckily I had 2, so 6k was deducted and I ended up paying 20k. I don't know if anyone sees this as a good deal? (See image below)

@Northbird: strangely car didn't overheat after installing the new battery, weird. Will continue to test run and see.

Try what I told you first. The water is supposed to circulate freely within the internal fins. Once 3 or 4 of the fins are blocked. Water won't circulate freely, making water to quickly evaporate from the radiator

You have to be there in person to see it yourself, I'm sure some of the radiator fins are clogged.

I will take time out on Tuesday to look for the place.

My point exactly is what if I end up buying another radiator but find out it's something else that is responsible. I'd like to start with the little things like radiator cap, water pump, probably washing the radiator as well...

Maybe u should change the cap or the whole radiator n fill with original coolant. Then make sure the fan is blowing at full speed.
If the water is drying up in the radiator, it's either evaporating or leaking.

Then I'm afraid, you haven't washed the radiator. Ask around for them " agbede" /blacksmith. They will unmount the radiator, open up the cover. Car wash folks don't do this, they only blow the exterior. I doubt it's a water pump issue.
Depending on area and your bargaining skills 2.5 - 4k should fix it.

There are tens of internal fins within the radiator, they will use a long strip of metal to dislodge sludge and mud particles blocking the fins (then, they will use water to thoroughly rinse individual fins. Making sure there are no clogged mud and debris within the fins. Insist they wash it thoroughly. Do this and the overheating issue when climbing the hill will stop. I have experienced this when I was driving a Nissan primera.

Car wash will only blow the exterior. The real workings of the radiator are the internal fins.

Check your fan blades and motor, make sure it is spinning optimally without wobble and in the right direction.
The fins on the radiator too should not be damaged, mashed together or pressed down more than 50% of it's area.
Am assuming the new top gasket is original and functioning well. But that's another thing that can cause overheating when u drive on speed.
Other cooling components like thermostat, water pump, radiator, radiator cover, water pipes, if defective will cause the engine to overheat even when just warming the car without even moving.

If all these are okay then sorry your engine is...

You can tell me the engine is bad, am a man, I can take the reality quite well. Lol. You mentioned quite a number of things I might have to look into, like: the water pump. However, from the inside, the radiator fins look pressed together but I don't know how bad it is. Another thing I am considering is the radiator cap; it doesn't feel like it's holding pressure.

Water pump seems to be working well. But I noticed that the reservoir tank was empty as at this morning despite it been filled to specification yesterday, probably the reason for the issue. Can anyone recommend a radiator expert? Thanks
