To and from my work place is less than 25km and I spend about 1k a day on transport and I work 4days a week with 2days off. Despite this flexibility, today you can count the number of cars in the companies car park.

For people like you, I can only imagine what you're going through.

Subsidizing fuel is not far fetched my brother. Our leaders are clueless as to how to run a nation. Someone above me said Nigerians have subsidized the political class at the expense of the masses (hmmm).

They(FG) closed the borders so that our local markets can grow. Same thing they did to fairly used clothing. But you will never hear them(FG) say, ban importation of refined crude so that our refineries can work.

These are some of the by-product from refining crude oil:

Gasoline: A primary product obtained from crude oil refining and used as fuel for automobiles.

Diesel: Another important fuel obtained from crude oil, commonly used in diesel engines.

Jet fuel: A specialized fuel used for aviation purposes, produced during the refining process.

Heating oil: Used for heating homes and buildings, especially during colder seasons.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG): Includes propane and butane, used for heating, cooking, and fueling vehicles.

Fuel oil: Used for industrial heating, electricity generation, and as bunker fuel for ships.

Asphalt: Used in road construction and as a waterproofing agent.

Lubricants: Oils used to reduce friction and provide lubrication for engines and machinery.

Petrochemicals: Crude oil refining produces various petrochemicals, including ethylene, propylene, benzene, toluene, and xylene. These chemicals serve as building blocks for plastics, synthetic fibers, rubber, dyes, solvents, and many other products.

Bitumen: A thick, sticky form of crude oil used primarily in road paving and roofing materials.

Coke: A solid carbon residue produced during the refining process, often used as a fuel in industrial processes.

Sulfur: Removed from crude oil during refining, it finds applications in fertilizers, chemicals, and the production of sulfuric acid.

To think that we would only return home with fuel, diesel, aviation fuel, and probably kerosene is abysmal.

So many ways the Nigerian govt could be making money if only they could make the refineries work. We could export some of these byproducts in exchange for foreign currency.

I honestly won't like to get into this drag going on here, but inbetween I think facts should not be distorted. I am still in the learning process and won't like to jump into what I don't know, but even since the subidy, I've been giving it a second tot from my position of thinking the work is no longer worth it.

Prices are no longer the same, the traffic rate is not the same. Tho a bit stressful compare to what it used to be. Before I don't go beyond 100/120k weekly, but all factors being equal, I hope to gross 160k doing 4 and half days. The only issue here is, the better chunk of the money goes to fuel. The bolded is what is being asked for and this is why some drivers have come out to lend their voice. If their agitations falls through it benefits everyone now instead of showing solidarity, they are mocked at.

The number of drivers outside during this strike action tells a lot about the crop of people doing this business (largely unemployed), invariably it tells you why the e-coys won't budge too. My expenses before the fuel increase:
Fuel: 8000/185 = 43Ltrs
InDrive commission: 2k
Total expenses: 10k

Expenses after fuel increase:
Fuel: 43Ltr x 488 = 20,984
InDrive commission= 2k
Total expenses: 22,984

Percentage increment of 129.84%

Will the work rate be the same? With this I will have to work more to cover my expenses before I start to work for any form of profit. Yet he talks about making more money now than before.

Let 90% of drivers down tools for 1week and let's see if the app companies will not dance to your tunes. Continue to allow yourselves to be deceived that the app companies don't care. Without a doubt they know drivers are the life blood of the business.

I've always carried everyone along on my methods of making more money irrespective of fuel price, app price or the negativity on this thread. Everytime I post positivity and new methods on this thread, you and your fellow idiots shoot it down. But I'm the selfish one.

The strike has been a tremendous success. Almighty bolt increased their fares 3 times under 7 days. Uber increased their own for the 2nd time today. This is despite the very “hardworking” Nairaland drivers who always claim to make profit. 😆 But sane drivers protested and we’re making progress. Even though the prices are still unbalanced.

The next push is a total reduction of commission to 10% on all apps in Nigeria. We’d continue pressing their neck on Monday. I was at the protest ground today and the number of Corollas I saw, I’ve never seen it in my life. 😁

Kudos to all those who stood on the side of truth and made their voices heard on different platforms. From Lagos to Abuja to Kano to Delta, Ibadan, Kwara etc. Una well done . 🙌✌️

Kudos to you guys, you're the real GOATs of this hustle and not that Cheerleader that is so full of himself and always ranting like a spoilt child. Besides being a cheerleader he is also petty. He might as well ask the app companies to let him continue to run round Lagos like someone without direction and not effect the fare increase on his trips.

One might argue about some of the issues he raised but again the question is: can the relationship between the drivers and the app companies be better? And my answer to that is a resounding YES.

Agitations like these are meant to benefit everybody but you're called lazy because you ask for a better treatment. Some people are just selfish and cheerleader reeks of it.

At least some of the app companies are beginning to send out emails effecting changes with regards to fares. It may not be much but this goes to show that the ehailing companies are following trends but instead of taking a stance some drivers who I see as cheerleaders would rather insult those who are trying to make their voices heard over issues that will also benefit them.

Now that fare prices are beginning to go up will they now say they don't want the fare increase?

So I think it's safe to pick your trips based on km travelled and not time since your cars fuel consumption only understands distance per Ltr.

This calculation is based on distance travelled from my place of work to my place of residence.

Distance covered: 7miles = 11.265km
ETA: 25min

According to the below site, fuel consumption for my car is:

1Ltr fuel = 10.2km

So if 1Ltr = 10.2km, how many liters will I need to cover 11.265km

x = 11.265km / 10.2km
x = 1.104Ltr

To cover 11.265km I'll need 1.104Ltr of fuel.

So for every 1.104Ltr, 11.265km and an ETA of 25min, I should be making nothing less than N2600

So therefore
N2600 x 16Ltr = N41,600
N41,600 / N2600 = 16trips

In other to reduce number of trips then any trip above 22km but less than 23km with an ETA of 50min should be nothing less than N5200.

So with 16Ltr fuel it is possible to gross 40k and above provided you pick the right pricing for each trip.

I completely disagree with his submission that time and energy on 9k and 19k expenses are the same.

With two trips of 4k each gives him 8k, now he needs a 3rd trip to make up for his fuel and commission before he starts to now look for his net. Now this is at 185/ltr for 30L.

Now how many trips of 4k will he have to do for his expenses of almost 20k before he now starts to look for his net?
