iammo: more like kemi stepped on toes of the cabals by revealing discrepancy in NNPC remittances, causing chaos during FAAC meetings between all state finance commissioners and herself. the dude simply came up with his " investigative journalism " immediately kemi started having issues with the powers that be. Now the easily manipulated short memory Nigerians have forgotten about southern DSS boss been sacked for a northern retired officer, they are busy with APC fall guy, and deflection plan(kemi's resignation) You are current and smart, this is exactly what I opined in my post; https://www.nairaland.com/4735977/mrs-kemi-adeosun-resignation-case.Many Nigerians won't see it from our angle. |
Politics › Mrs Kemi Adeosun Resignation Is A Case Of Corruption Fighting Back. by CsRockefeller(op): 8:29pm On Sep 15, 2018 |
In the month of June, NNPC remitted about N147 billion into FAAC for the month of June. This figure didn't go down well with members of FAAC which the Minister of Finance heads alongside state commissioners of Finance.
They demanded NNPC refund monies as oil price during that period had increased. NNPC were going back and forth, giving the excuse that they have met the minimum agreement of what they should remit into FAAC as agreed with the Governors.
I recall, as corps members we weren't paid until the 12th of July, in fact, the issue wasn't resolved until the end of July when the Vice President intervened, many government workers got their salaries for June very late.
I wasn't surprised that a week into the imbroglio, Mrs Kemi NYSC certificate scandal came up/broke out. It was simply corruption fighting back.
Former Efcc boss Mrs Farida Waziri once said that "when you fight corruption, corruption fights back". Mrs Okonjo Iweala corroborated her statement with her book " fighting corruption is dangerous".
Clearly, some powerful Government officials have decided to steal from our common wealth, and any hindrance to their plan must be removed.
If you think Mrs Kemi resignation is a good event, then think again. Now, with Mrs Kemi out of the way, this cabal will probably have a filled day to the cookie jar and have a swell time like Winnie the pooh.
As I conclude, I ask, how many Nigerians can beat their chest and say they haven't cheated the system before? How many Nigerians haven't cut corners one way or the other to get their ends met?
The Law was made for man, not man for the law, but we have chosen the law over faith/competence/ability, too bad. However, posterity will be kind on Mrs Kemi, her achievements despite the atmosphere she met the economy and her honorable act will continue to speak for her even in death.
These are my thoughts.

resurgent2019: I don’t even know what to do about their issue.
But I am sure they will be at the lower wrung of Nigeria’s politics for a long time.
They are not serious about the Biafra issue(very painful because I want them gone). I would never vote nor support them to lead other Nigerians. They are not a serious people.
It’s better we endure Hausa brutality. Hausas are more serious, regrettably. Be careful what you wish for, you don't know if your family is in the market place, so don't throw stones carelessly. A better life for all Nigerians is the Paramount thing. Don't wish brutality upon yourself just because of hate, learn from the 48 laws of power and be wise. Peace! |

Felixv: one of the countries I like to visit is Thailand - it is not Germany,Japan, China or even the US
But citizens of those countries flock there every year. Beautiful airport, nice infrastructure and I never never experienced power failure once
This is a country that should have been comparable to Nigeria - they don’t even have oil.
But guess what - there exports are finished products, and that is why the country is called the Detroit of Asia.
Cars by the bucket load, and their finance minister never went to havard or worked in the world bank.
Without power, great roads, amazing ports and airports nobody would bring the kind of industries that would help us develop
You can drive from bkk to chonburi which is a 90 minute ride and all you would see along the beautiful highway are Japanese factories.
Parked on either side of the highway are trucks ready to take goods to the ports for onward delivery round the world.
Their education system is no even world class but people still go to their hospitals from other countries for treatment - medical tourism is a great income earner for them
Alas how can we get to Thailand’s level ?
We infrastructure- we need steady power supply we need great technical skills and above all we have to become a safer country.
Am sorry but obj and Jonathan blew it. People are talking about how obj got us out of debt — foolish man - he should have built our roads and fixed our light - not hand money to the IMF or world banks.
Go and find out how much China owes inspire or have a foreign reserve in the trillions. Go and find find out how much Britain owes. We know the Americans owe a lot. But their infrastructure is amazing.
I once drove from philly to Ohio - beauty road and it took me over 10hrs. Can’t try that in Nigeria Sent a pm, are you in the country? |

Brightgem: We have messed up ladies because men have refused to raise their standards, men lead. Who are the fathers, brothers, boyfriends, husbnds, bosses to these said women you call sluts and objects? I will keep saying that, men lead! when we have better men we will have better woman. For the information of all those saying bla bla like did she leave too? They might be in a relationship, he should have mind his business, these are also all MEN with loose morals and brain. He didn't do it because he was forming heroe, he did what was right by himself and another person. People with high principles and values will leave a job for reasons like this even without another at hand, but actions like that cannot be understood by people who think a job or a boss is a God. Reading some comments just makes one know how people think. Messed up values leads to wrong actions and decision. Get out of a job where the boss is abusive verbally or physically, or not paying you at the right time. Have some dignity and go find yourself something better out there. I am a woman, yes. I would also resign if I witness such after I stone the boss pure water. I am working my way to where I want to be with dignity. I speak for women of dignity! My quote wasn't to attack you either! Peace out! You said a lot up there. I too left my job recently because I was being abused verbally and emotionally, its not even about the money. Better to ear bread in love than honey in hate, so I left and I'm happy I did. |

NYSC › Re: Should I Resign From My Current P.P.A? by CsRockefeller(op): 12:59pm On Sep 07, 2018 |
charliejose: Hi, I'm currently in this situation you were in. I loathed my PPA right from the beginning. I'm the only corps member in a whole pharmaceutical company. Prior to my coming here, 8 corpers served in this company just before I started, and the HR has decided to accept only me this year (meaning I'm doing a job of almost 8 persons). Initially, we were two that were accepted, but the other girl left on grounds of having accommodation problem. I even brought another corper that was willing to work there to replace her, but they sent her away, promising that they'll request for another corper of which they haven't till now. I graduated as a Pharmacologist, and during the interview, I was briefed on my job description which included going for market research and conferences. But, right now as I speak, I work as a customer care rep, office assistant, market research analyst, sometimes a receptionist, and even at a certain time, a cameraman. To add salt to injury, I've terrible people as my direct bosses, always trying to browbeat and intimidate their subordinates at any chance they get. I could have even been able to endure the job, but the environment is just so unfriendly, and caustic, and extremely unhealthy. I don't have the intentions of getting retained here as what I'm doing presently doesn't in anyway align with what I envisaged my career to be. I kinda have a crazy person as a LGI from experiences other corps members have had with her. I once sent her a text about changing my PPA on the basis of distance, but she vehemently criticized me and even threatened to report me to the disciplinary committee if I don't settle in. I've spent 3 months here, having 6 months to go, and might go crazy before I finish my service year. I really don't know which way to go. Friends and family keep advising me to endure. Hmmmm, I feel your pains o! Its not easy, people see corpers as slaves. Its not going to be easy leaving your ppa, especially as your LGI doesn't buy the idea. In my case, every told me to endure, I wanted to also endure but it just got out of hand, I couldn't bear it anymore, so I went ahead with what I felt was good for myself, I did this without minding the consequence but was strategic about it. Right now just spoke with my lgi, she said she will re post me to a remote village as punishment for leaving but I don't care, as long as I'm off my former ppa and won't accept anything that comes in form of slavery all in the name of Nysc. It's not going to be easy o, most Corps members have this problem of changing ppa, but the lgi's aren't willing to help. So I rebelled, because I have a cause, if you do have a cause then you have the right to seek redress. Freedom isn't easy, you have to fight for it like power, the summary is that its up to you, but are you willing to go on that journey? Because its a hell of a journey but at the end you will triumph. But its still a hell of a journey, in my case I've been on it since July. So its up to you. |

Despite being encouraged to stay and me willing to stay, I regret to announce that I've left my p.p.a since the 29th of July. The toxic and non cordial working atmosphere didn't subsize. I've left their accommodation and my LGI has been on my neck.
I wanted to stay sincerely, but it couldn't be a happy ending. While I don't want to lay blame on some people who forced me out, I hope posterity will be kind on me based on the decision I've taken.
I'm sad that I let down the Executive Director who was good to me and regarded me very highly, somewhere in me still wonders if I've shot myself in the foot. |

Romance › Re: "Men Don’t Need Women If They Do Not Have A House Or Job" - Pastor by CsRockefeller(m): 9:00pm On Aug 05, 2018 |
justifyme: The most difficult age for any man born in Nigeria should be between 24 and 29 years, the pressure to be something, to be someone is so immense. When you look around you everyone seems to be doing something for themselves, people seem to be living a life you only dream of. You have applied for jobs and the results have been more disappointing than Yakubu Aiyegbeni penalty kick at the world cup. Sadly this is the age when most guys lose it, the age when if not careful one is consumed by alcohol or drugs, because the disappointments become too much and you find alternative ways to face reality. Worse is when a few people you studied with have been lucky enough to land jobs, soon your circle of friends gets thinner – mostly they don’t even cut you out but you will be real with yourself and cut yourself off. I mean what will you do when you are in a WhatsApp group of friends and they are discussing about last week’s trip in Dubai and planning another trip South Africa while you are not sure of what your next meal would be? Most times you follow the conversation silently, all alone like a cross on the grave. Soon you realize this is no longer your kind of crowd because the more you keep around the more the pressure to be something, takes a toll on you. You know when stories about house parties come up and you act deaf because you don’t know where an extra 5 guys would fit in your house. Have you ever sat in a group of people discussing the new iPhone on the market or how British Airways offers poo services and you can feel your heart whisper to you “boss this is chest pain hour, can we just go and find a group that talks about GMAT, SHLn Dragnet, jobberman or job vacancies sites“. But you sit there as these people are lost in their lifestyle conversations, you are like a secretary taking minutes in meeting. You are totally forgotten like one of a woman’s breasts during pre-intimacy. Once in a while one of the friends will turn and ask if you need another drink and you wonder if you should just say No and head home, but head home to do what? So you grudgingly drop in the comment “I will have just one last one“ Lie. But after a few years of job hunting, you are now ready to take anything even if is to smell a rich man’s farts as long as it pays , so you end up as an office messenger in one blue chip company in town. To imagine that 4-5 years of studying and getting a degree is now reduced to picking and dropping off letters and if you are not doing that, you are being sent for cheap lunch by the employees when they are broke and they can’t order with fast food. This is when conversations about where people schooled start, you go silent for it’s no longer of any use to say you also reached University, it doesn’t matter – you have resorted to surviving. Once in while you will bump into your now well to do classmates, they would offer you lunch, but not even eating the meals at Eko Hotel or Sheraton will make you feel better about yourself, because in your mind you wish instead they would give you the 30k and you sort your meals for the next 5 weeks. As it is the norm you will have photos taken, and uploaded on Facebook, but always it’s your face that would look the odd one out – not even the best filters can hide a face which has suffered the city's dust and sun but survives on boiled beans. The worst mistake you can do during this period is to try and date – there is nothing that a person going through such times can offer in terms of love. How are you going to do evening romantic walks when you are tired from walking delivering letters in offices around town? What are you going to tell your lady when she says she wants to go for relaxation at the bar, pool or love garden sites that are in town? That your financial religion doesn’t allow it or what? This is the age when you sit back and watch as the ladies you would want to date are dating or getting married to guys 10 years older than you. And you can’t blame them – it’s only that your life seems to be progressing slower than their goals in life. Most of the ladies you meet during this period, if you are lucky will be patient with you till you hit 28, and if by then your life is still in disarray like Liverpool’s and Chelsea's performance in the EPL then my friend be prepared for a walk out. But then this is the age when you learn a lot of about life, if you can hack through this stage of life the only hard moment in your life would be when you lose your parents - that’s if you are still lucky enough to have them. This stage teaches you a lot about perseverance, about appreciating the small wins you have each day, it teaches you something about friendship, love, career growth and personal responsibility. This is always your rise or fall moment depending on the choices you make. How you live your life in the 30’s is determined by how you handled your life in this phase U just wrote about me, everything up there is describing me, I'm 26 and at my lowest point in life, food is even a luxury, I'm just tired. |
