Meet Nigerian born flutist Elena Ayodele the girl behind Future's Mask Off


Elenais a 20-year-old vocalist and flutist. Elena’s interest in music started at an early age. She began singing and playing the flute at age 7. By age 9 she was performing and recording with local bands and recorded her first CD, “Catch 22.” At 11, she was featured in an HBO special on young musicians entitled The Music in Me.” Versatile in many styles, Elena has won numerous awards for “best soloist” at festivals and from Downbeat magazine. A 2013 YoungArts Gold Award recipient and U.S Presidential Scholar in the Arts, she was a member of the Grammy Band and Choir, San Francisco Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Young Musicians Program.




Elena has performed in numerous venues, including: Carnegie Hall, the White House, the Kennedy Center, SF Jazz Center, Yoshi’s Jazz Club, Davies Symphony Hall, The Jazz Standard, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, The Jazz Gallery, Caramoor Music Festival, Moab Music Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, Marciac Festival and Montreux Jazz Festival. She has performed in festivals and clubs throughout Europe, Japan, and South America. Elena has performed with Herbie Hancock, Hubert Laws, Kenny Barron, Esperanza Spalding, Ambrose Akinmusire, Vijay Iyer, Christian Scott, Carlos Santana, Orlando “Maraca” Valle, Stefon Harris, Joshua Redman, Josh Groban, and others.

Most recently, Elena recorded on Ambrose Akinmusire’s latest Blue Note album, “The Imagined Savior is Far Easier to Paint,” Wayne Wallace’s Grammy nominated album “Latin Jazz, Jazz Latin,” and performed in the premier of Vijay Iyer’s work, “Open City.” Cited as “the most exciting jazz flautist to have emerged in years” by The Guardian, Elena is currently performing with a range of musicians, as well as with her own group, and playing and touring internationally with Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah and Stefon Harris.

In the summer of 2015, Elena signed with SRP Music group, the company responsible for discovering and signing Rihanna, among others. She is currently recording her debut album, which will be released in the spring of 2016.

We are definately heading to a society with a huge amount of people who can't fit into the world of tommorow. It is not even misinformation,it is something more disasterous.it is citizens with zero information/knowledge. If Africans can really take a closer look at themselves then knowledge filled articles and informative posts should be a priority and not Tboss or Big brother. The west can afford to have millenials watching and reading trash but not us because right now they are far better than us in every aspect of life while tasks like taking Africa and Nigeria out of their current pitiful state lies with us the youths. A nation of dimmed lights can't afford to have immoral and foolish citizens and expect progress in their standard of living. As far as I am concerned, societal values have dropped. Both male and female are culpable and it has little or nothing to do with slay-queens.

Societal values to me have disappeared totally. I almost contacted you last month because of something similar. I was in a conundrum and needed to speak to someone who might think different from others and you crossed me mind. I just didn't wanna send the wrong signals when i PM so i killed the thought. The decay in our society is alarming. People forget about Christianity and morals once money comes into the picture. With the way Nigeria is going we will have only a few honest men and women by 2030. When you examine the level of immorality and stupidity in Nigeria the future should scare you. Lack of morals + low I.Q is a recipe for a bleeped up future.


There is this instagram handle that posts funny clips which i usually check for a few laughs but i had to think differently after watching one of their video yesterday.......in this particular video students where asked "If someone from Nigeria is a Nigerian what is someone from England called" and most abi na some of the people interviewed said Englander,Englandan and even Englandianan. Now the problem is this video was shot in a university which is something of concern because that was one of the simplest questions anyone in a tertiary institution should answer.

Ten,One thousand or one million averagely smart people can't effect change in populous nation like ours. Low I.Q plus immorality is what scares me. Just compare the I.Q of a regular Nigeria with others outside Africa and you will see why the moral decay would be more dangerous to Nigeria than other nation. Parents are not helping matters too.





Nigerians rarely mind their business so it is adviseable for a woman to get married unless she wants to keep explaining the same thing over and over again. A woman can remain single in other climes and survive but not here. A woman should be ready to slap and lose friends if she chooses to remain single forever@OP

Based on comments here, it's obvious that lots of you have more than one chick _later they'll open their mouth and say na women cheat pass. It's guys that have plenty chicks having problem with this.

It's not like that..I don't really have much time for girls and even boys. Too much baggage for a simple nigga like me. You won't blame men for keeping lots of girls these days. Even if we tell them not to come over them go still show up. When sex and relationship is the only life some of these girls know they have no other option than to spend all their youth cohabiting and spending their weekends in the houses of different men and boys. They mostly force their way into our houses after too much begging to spend the weekend at our cribs or at a hotel. If any regular man or boy tell you the number of girls/women who have been begging to come spend the night,week or weekend at their place fear fit catch you. Abi you won know the level of distance and bad road that a girl will travel just to go see one mumu boy or man? I don't know about other homeboys but it takes alot for me or any nigga i know to travel as far as owerri to kaduna to go and spend the weekend with a girl but girls fit pass through the valley of the shadow of death just to go and spend the weekend with any mumu wey get DSTV,a TV and a generator. The only idea of fun they know is spending the weekend with tunde ,uche or ibrahim. Abi make we use knife pursue them? I don't think men have options when it comes to this. Would you reject free laundry,free cooking,free house cleaning,free dish washing,standby waitress,Free grocery shopping and delivery,free everything at an unbelievable price with a special bonus ontop?

I usually have extra everything for male or female visitors who plan to spend a night or more than a day in my crib because i'm a neat freak and finding things like toothbrush or bra in strange places might ruin my entire day. i love a house in order thats just it.


I don't know about unmarried couples but the percentage of men cheating to women is like 85% for men and 15% for women. Any man saying women cheat more than men is playing himself.

If you leave your property in my house for too long and refuse to come take it i will definately burn it. No matter how clean the properties are it makes my house look dirty cos i hate too much unneccessary things littering my house. The only thing that can stop me from burning it would be if they are extremely costly. I believe girls who boldly leave things in a guys house without bagging them up or atleast keeping them somewhere hidden and secure can't maintain a clean house. They would always litter and leave your house with dirt scattered around once they start living with you.
