Christianity EtcHow Do You Know The Voice Of God? by curiouslad(op): 4:04pm On Nov 28, 2013
I've always heard people say often, the holy spirit spoke to me, God said i should do this, Jesus said i should not do that
My question is is -

Have you heard him speak?
How do you hear him?
Like a voice in your head?
With your ears?

Thanks

ProgrammingRe: Help Me Review My Web App. by curiouslad(m): 11:45am On Nov 27, 2013
App crashes after navigating around
Uncaught Error: 10 $digest() iterations reached. Aborting!
Watchers fired in the last 5 iterations: ...

Seems like you set a listener on a property and still you are changing the property in the same watcher function

UI needs a little bit of love!

Also you don't need jQuery with angularJS, check angular-ui bootstrap for any bootstrap component you need!
But if you must use it then link it first before the other bootstrap dependencies

Would be back later to explore the app

ProgrammingRe: Why Your Start-up Wouldn't Fail! by curiouslad(m): 12:31pm On Nov 26, 2013
Ajibel: The best way to know if your start-up wouldn't succeed is by developing and pushing it to the public.
That way you'd understand the market, get more exposed to the demands of owning an online company, learn a lot from what you've developed and get to meet people who'd advice u better.
Good Point.

Ajibel: Buh when you have an idea and can't develop it cuz of the reasons someone has given, how can u determine if your start-up wouldn't actually fail.
If we are to agree with ALL the points pushed forward in the other thread, then ALMOST everyone having an idea should already have in mind that his start-up will fail.
*Your startup is a solution to a “WANT” and not a “NEED”.
*Your startup is a clone of some popular 1st world website or application
*Your startup will require loads and loads of traffic
(very valid in my opinion, the internet adoption in nigeria is LOW. Heck even nairaland doesn't have up to a million users)
*Reading too much of Techcrunch
(Techcrunch operates on a different terrain)

No where did he tell you not to execute your idea nor did he mention the bolded below!
Ajibel: Dont share your dreams or listen to realistic people who look before they leap and follow the news bulletin lamenting on the challenges to be faced by tech start-ups and in a way discouraging you from attempting.
Why?
These sets of folks have all the current stats on why you wouldn't succeed with your start-up ranging from PHCN issues to internet cost down to poverty. You are better off playing ping pong than reading articles of the realists.
Ajibel: In life, you CANNOT be realistic at all times
shocked shocked Seriously?

ProgrammingRe: Nodejs Viable In Nigeria ? by curiouslad(m): 3:56pm On Nov 22, 2013
pc guru: that,s based on speed did try to check memory consumption of the benchmark, also I meant flawed in the context to real time chat with large amount of users. But am still open to opinions I maybe wrong though.
Obviously Nodejs is faster and takes less memory even in the benchmarks posted
Just Pointing out that Php can also handle async requests without blocking

pc guru: The List is long but the best option so far ability to build a web server in JavaScript with Asynchronous style, obviously you should know that building real time apps on PHP is flawed because PHP is blocking.
Just pointing out wrong assumptions

ProgrammingRe: Nodejs Viable In Nigeria ? by curiouslad(m): 12:53pm On Nov 22, 2013
pc guru: sorry i have that bad habit of not explaining why, CommonJs is just a spec that allows JavaScript to be in Packages just like java, that's the best definition. Sure no problem, am curious how is AngularJS am more of Dojotoolkit Fanatic and never bothered to touch any other JS Framework except jquery(which i hate).
AngularJs is cool, easy to start with, can be tough to wrap the head around uphill but definitely worth it. It actually implements its own jQlite version of jQuery.

Angular is modular and implements dependency injection, so i can inject modules/libs where needed at runtime rather than 'require'ing them.

Still following this page though

ProgrammingRe: Nodejs Viable In Nigeria ? by curiouslad(m): 10:57am On Nov 22, 2013
pc guru: A Promise is an Object that holds the result of an async task e.g when you run an Ajax in Jquery there is a success and function however in Promise, its an Object that has two aspect the error the success and the then, error when an error triggers and success when the result is ok, the then will run regardless of the two state its the last method, also there's a Whenable Object it takes a Promise, meaning when the promise has been resolved it calls. in short words it contains result of async tasks
I do understand promises - via angularJs.
You lost me at the commonJs, reading up on it though. Might have to actually delve into nodeJs

PoliticsRe: Your Wish On President Jonathan's Birthday by curiouslad(m): 9:06am On Nov 21, 2013
Ozin: I congratulate you sir on this great occasion and wishing you wisdom, good health and long life in piloting the affairs of this great country.
A few on this forum wish you dead and I agree with them if you are the cause of the following between 1960 and 2010
- Blackout and interrupted/epileptic power supply
- Corruption
- Poverty
- Insecurity
-Nepotism
-Lack of good infrastructures like bad road, good health facility etc

These set of people should use a bulldozer and bring down their house and start to re-build it again. They will notice while the said house can be demolished within few hours, rebuilding same house even if a hut will take days, months and even years.

Alas! But if you are not the cause, may their curse start from their generation up to their 10th generation because the bible says "curse causeless shall not come" Which means no curse will come to you Mr President if you are not the cause. May the good lord bless your household sir, happy birthday!
Beautifully written!
However can you honestly point to anything tangible the president has been doing to reverse the situation between 2010 and 2013 ?
Please be honest!

WebmastersRe: Everyone Want A Site Like Jumia: Why? by curiouslad(m):
Cloning jumia or konga is actually easier than most people think cool grin
Most People think the success of jumia and konga is due to their website, however it involves a lot more than that.
Branding and advertisement is actually one of the main lifeblood of jumia. They have the financial prowess to blow most competitors away with their advertising budget, unless you can be smart about it

Also jumia is smart enough to load their images from a CDN increasing load time! Something a lazy developer would likely overlook

WebmastersRe: Short Critic About Nairaland by curiouslad(m): 10:52pm On Nov 17, 2013
A humble suggestion
I think the current ban system should be scrapped in favor of the "hell ban " option as used on HN.

It would allow tribal bigots the space to do whatever they want without affecting the sanity of the site nor the no of pageviews

Only hellbanned users would be able to see the trivial and spam posts

Also this leaves them with little incentive to open a new account as they can continue to do whatever they want in the "hell section" heck they won't even know they've been hellbanned

Just suggesting.
WebmastersRe: HTML6 And CSS4: My Proposals by curiouslad(m): 2:45pm On Nov 17, 2013
With angularjs you could create custom directives for whatever you wish

I currently have a <uploader action=''></uploader> directive which I use for all my file uploads
As well as a lot of others that makes my code DRY
