Cecegal:Sorry please do you mean you got a positive assessment without work experience? for what occupation please? |
seunbams:Good day. considering the less competitive nature of Agric consultants (about 93% availability left as at April 2018) you still stand a chance. However try and see how you can add 5 points to make it faster. Please i have a little question...i assume you got a yes from vetassess. Can i know your background and experience? I need to be sure that i can get a yes also. Please inbox me your number. Thanks |
rosepetraa:Lol...well thanks. Your theory seems like a nice one... but i think i will give it a shot. It depends on how well we can prove that she has gained that experience in her teaching role. So i intend to show in the CV, details of relevant practical training and other stuff. Also she taught practicals and managed thes school farm, which could also pass for relevant experience. I think we can give it a try I have a colleague who read estate management with only one year (NYSC) experience in the estate department of a polythecnic. He was able to get Vetassess to give him a positive assessment by packaging his reference letter and other documents well. So i think we can follow suit |
Also. I understand that the financial year 2018 - 2019 begins from 1st of July 2018 and that a number of changes might occur (a number of occupations may be taken out of the mltssl). Last year about 200 occupations were taken out. Based on this is it advisable to proceed still or do we just wait to see the new list? (that is for those of us still in the early stages who might be impacted by changes if they occur) |
bellong:Thanks sir. Just further clarification on the use of teaching as consultancy: Vetassess website describes the relevant tasks of an agricultural consultant as follows: In Australia, there are currently no legal requirements for licensing or registration for the occupation of Agricultural Consultant. An agricultural consultant generally provides advice to clients as an external contracted service. Clients may include farmers, growers, landowners, conservation organisations and public bodies. As an agricultural consultant, you would usually consult on either technical or business matters. The consultancy may include advice on agricultural systems, crop and pasture science, livestock, nutrition / breeding, or improvement of production, processing and distribution of farm products. Tasks include: Collecting and analysing data and samples of produce, feed, soil and other factors affecting production Advising farmers and farm Managers on techniques for improving the production of crops and livestock, and alternative agricultural options Advising farmers on issues such as livestock and crop disease, control of pests and weeds, soil improvement, animal husbandry and feeding programs Developing procedures and techniques for solving agricultural problems and improving the efficiency of production Now my point is, as someone who taught agric in a secondary school (JSS1 to SS2) even if it was technically not consulting, she was imparting knowledge to students on most of these areas above at an intermediate level. Also consider that this would also have included practical training (managing a school farm etc). So if we can as much as possible tailor this experience to meet the requirement in our application, do we not stand a chance? My 65 point permutation is as follows: Age -30 points PTE - Hopeful for 20 points Qualification -15 points I have not included any point for work experience (because its not really up to 3 years), however i need to demonstrate relevant work experience to get Vetassess give us a positive assessment. Thanks bro |
Hi guys. I just started my PR visa process under stream 189. I graduated with a degree in Economics and Statistics and have work experience plus some professional papers in accounting. However because of the competitive nature of accounting I am considering making my wife the principal applicant (she studied Soil science which Vetassess has indicated can be assessed to meet the qualifications for Agricultural consultant) as Agricultural consulting roles are far less competitive. However I have a few challenges as follows: 1. My wife has about two years teaching experience, teaching agriculture in a private secondary school plus another one year NYSC experience also as a secondary school teacher. I need to know what the chances are that vetassess will consider this as a relevant experience 2. I forsee a few challenges with documentation of employment. She taught in a private secondary school in Benin. For most part of the two years, salary was collected by hand (so no bank evidence), no payslips, tax clearance or pension remittance. No employment letter was given also (although I have asked her to prevail on the school to issue an employment letter which will be appropriately dated). Please I need help (suggestions) on how to go round this 3. Vetassess has asked that a copy of the BSC qualification certificate be sent in a sealed envelope directly from the school to them. She attended University of Benin. Has anyone been able to get this done from a federal institution? Finally, I believe she can make total score of 65. On the ceiling list, so far only about 63 ITAs have been granted for her agriculture code out of the annual limit of 1000 (giving about 93.8% availability left) hence i think we should be fine with 65%. is this correct? what do the gurus in the house think? Thanks guys |
Hi VO, I intend to apply for a US tourist visa for myself, wife and child (we plan to visit next year). I work for a very reputable multi-national organisation with a great visa success rate but my wife is currently not working. I have two questions: 1.) What are our chances of getting visas seeing my wife is not working and what documents do I come with to better prove my case (strong ties to home country) 2.) Our child has not been born but we plan to travel with when she is born . Before I submitted my online application, I included my wife as accompanying party but not our child as she is still in the womb. Will this be an issue at the interview? NB we are a young couple still in out 20s Thanks abujaniv: |

When I get Diageo offer I no go fit look the letter cos I knw its gonna be tempting. Diageo is a real GREAT place to work but in terms of benefits and work conditions and all. chrisI: cuteyem...u making me out to be the bad guy...all am trying to let u know is that employers are perceptive enuf to know the qualities of a potential candidate before employin...am not implying that they wouldnt employ every1..dont misconstrue my meanin na?Lollzzz bro that's not what I'm tryna do oh. I perfectly understand you and I know you are right. Evryone of us mean well for all of us. There's no bad guy here bro, we are just making clear our arguements. All the best to us all! |
chrisI: . cuteyem, These people are seasoned and well trained people ...they can know enuf about u in less than 2 mins of speaking with u...the way u enter into an office, the way u are dressed, the way u speak, eye contact, facial expressions, etc..these all tell a lot about u, even before u get a chance to say " good morninng ma" , and these people can read u with that! they dont need to sit down with u and hear you talk about your life story for 1 hr to know whether or not they wanna hire u...a friend of mine told me that the E.D just asked him" WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU? funny rite? but that was all! so u see, the E.D dont nid more than 2mins to know about u! but am sure u did great in your interview!Aiight chris1 you have a strong point there but then I still think at this stage its more about the recommendations u've earned from previous assessments. Yes the ED assessed us but I don't expect her 2mins decision to override that of other very trained professionals who had previously given a more detailed assessment. Time will tell tho, and I hope for our sakes that you are wrong! Lolllzzz |
chrisI: the HR guy is the one for lag and ph and abj. He travelled to all these places with the E.D...so there is no. "abj" HR...and another thing...the E.D accessed us and gave us marks and wrote recommendations..wat do u think would happen to those whom she gave low marks or didnt rec?..anyway its just my observ...I don't argue that ur hr guy dosent knw his stuff. All I'm saying is there is no way he'd knw the number of guys that would see the ED in lag at the tym abj guys were seeing ED. He was probably either talking based on total number of candidates or they had benchmarked a set number of candidates that would be allowed to see the ED in lag, and so he was talking based on that number. Again for someone like me who had a terribly brief interview I wonder how well the ED would have been able to assess me in less than two mins, esp as it was clear she had another meeting to attend and was only seeing me 2 fulfill all obligations. I do doubt if that interview would suffice for an assessment;reason why I believe its just a rubber-stamp. Anyways I hope we all make it all to TS from here! |
ifycyril: yh i doubt d scrapping cos i think corp relations and dglobal biz systems vnt also been contacted....This silence is getting totally unbearable! I think by tomorrow I'll just call HR. They should at least let us knw wassup so we can free our minds na |
