European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Brentford Vs Chelsea (0 - 0) On 19th October 2022 by cuttingedge: 8:26pm On Oct 19, 2022
This Chelsea team is really poor...the midfielders are poor...don't just have a kovacic and Jorginho in your team...with their pretty little passes and offer of no goal threat...if we do not get rid of both of them this team is never going to score 50 goals in a season and we will be praying for our strikers to even get 10 goals per season...with this current midfield setup even haaland won't get 20 goals a season.
They'll be looking for spaces in between the lines passing to players that even dangote trailer will blow off their feet. sad sad

And all these wingback nonsense should stop...if you're a wingback and you can't shoot when you're in position or make sensible crosses or offer no goal threat of any kind going forward na just dissipation of energy. All these cucurella and RLC wonran wonran should just stop.

Travel / Re: Please How Can I Get Directlo OAU Teaching Hospital Ile-ife From Lagos Airport? by cuttingedge: 5:44pm On May 30, 2022
Just take a bus going to Ife from Oshodi...Tell the driver to drop you at lagere or Mayfair... that'll most likely be the last stop if it's a direct bus to Ife and not going to Ilesha. From Mayfair or Lagere. Take a bus going to Opa and tell the driver you want to drop at Phase 1 or Phase 2 those are the two major entrances to the teaching hospital.

My wife and I were offered fully funded PhDs in the the same school and my wife has our 18 month old son as dependent on her application. Now we have our interview slated for next month with about a week interval. How do we establish home ties without harming our chances?
How do I establish home ties after my wife and son are issued visas knowing fully well that the VO might likely ask of I'm married or not?

Not at all.

Just make sure you UPDATE the new confirmation number on/in your cgi portal, so that both aligns.

Thank you Boss and thanks for the speedy response...may the good Lord bless you for all you do on this platform.

Yeah, you can!

Try to follow the below steps:

Go to DS160 website. Fill in your details (location and Confirmation number) Simply select “Retrieve An Application”, then “create a new application”.

You’d be able to access the old DS160. Just that this time, you’d get a new “Confirmation Number”. Make the necessary adjustments and submit when you’re sure you’re done. Then proceed to the CGIfederal website, login and navigate to

“Update Profile”

Erase your old confirmation number and replace it with the new one

Boss Moshkom please hope this change will not affect the interview Date I already secured?

Hello everyone, I'd like to ask if I can edit my DS-160 after submitting already. I feel my DS-160 is kind of scanty and I need to put additional details. I already have an interview date for Abuja next month and hope this won't be affected in anyway.

Thanks.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for all the heads up on EA and all. I am resuming this fall on the 15th of August and I plan to apply for EA by June 15th.
However, Lagos was the location I picked and I am now paranoid about it since I have heard a lot of people say Abuja responds to EA faster.

My questions are:
1. Can I rely on Lagos to get an EA date?
2. How can I change my location to Abuja? - at least Abuja looks easier to get EA when one applies for it.

Please let me know how changing to Abuja can be done!

I'm in a similar boat as yours, I want to know if I'll have to pay a new visa fee if I change my location to Abuja...I already chose Lagos and picked November 10th for my appointment.

I also agree that you should go together, book the interview together so you can be interviewed together by one VO, also add ur son for F2.

The main thing I want to say to you is that daycare is not free in the US, while school is free from age 5, daycare is not free, so VO will ask you for your plans for childcare seeing as two of you will be studying. Don’t fumble on that question. Google for daycare centers near your school, infact as an added way of showing preparedness you can email them so that you can inform the VO that you plan to put the child in so so daycare and you are already in contact with them. You can also check if your school has, some schools have within the school but it is also not free, it usually depends on how many days you will be keeping the child and if it’s full day or half day, it would usually not be less than $800 per month depending on your schedule.

The good thing is that two of you are F1 and will be collecting stipends but paying one house rent, you can still accommodate cost of childcare. Just needed to drop this info for you cos it may likely be asked

Thank you . We've already mailed the school's daycare.

My guy, forget about going through the corners, you and you wife got fully funded offers, you both should go for the interview with your baby, forget about all these fear about home ties because they'll still have your family's records even if you split the application, use your current jobs or what you both intend doing upon return to the country to establish ties, you guys have FULLY FUNDED PhD OFFERS for God's sake so don't allow unecessary fear of the unknown to derail your application, goodluck to you and your family.

Thanks ☺️

Moshkom:

Good day sir.

Big congratulations to you and your family for the offers at hand, big one. You guys’ boy must be proud to have you.

Quick one:

My own 2cents would be:

Your wife should go (like attend the interview first) with the baby. You would be here for them as the home tie.

You go after (probably another location) to face your own too.

Yeah, possibly getting “mixup in interview dates”, you guys should sha go separately as F1s.
To do that, start looking out appointments dates in and on time. If she can get for May/June then you get for July/August.

During the second interview, the question of ARE YOU MARRIED would/might comes up?

Ofc, YES. The problem would now be how to give convincing answer in where he/her is,:

YES! “She’s currently in undergoing her PhD program in so so, where she’s fully funded and carrying out research with Prof this and that”

Another possible question of, WHY ARE ALSO GOING FOR YOUR STUDY while she’s doing hers too:

You: I go an a FULLY FUNDED OFFER (let them know it’s an OFFER not that you’re really ‘into it’ “ to study this and that under the supervision of this and that, who’s one of your research mentor during your Msc/Undergraduate or so.

Make the VO understand you guys are like a family that reaching the ‘EDUCATION zenith’ is a goal, and you’re a goal getter.

The most fun thing here is that, you guys are not going to be liability (fully funded) to them, so they won’t even think of funds.
Home ties: just play the Education role and investment; post graduate plans (if possible let them know you and your wife have a plan to lecture in same University to be the 1st couple lecturers in from your home town (lamba, lol) and co.

Getting a m female VO is even advisable for the person that would go last, so that the ‘story card’ would work.

My humble opinions; GOOD LUCK to YOU and YOURS, Sir!

Thank you so much!

Okay. You should both separate your application if you can and your wife can apply with the baby. Another one is for both of you to apply together with the baby. Another one is for both of you to apply together without the baby.

3 suggestions, pick the one that you can defend well.

Best of luck

Oh! Okay. I think I understand now. Thanks.

Hello all, I think I've asked this question before but still not sure I got anyone to respond...or maybe I missed the response. Myself and my wife got a fully funded PhD and Grad Assistantships. When we apply for Visa, how do we go about it and how do we sort out the critical issue of home ties and all. We have a 1year plus son.
Also how do we sort out the issue of SOA too.

Did you submit GRE scores?

No! I didn't I mailed the graduate school to waive the GRE scores, English Proficiency Test and Application Fees. Honestly, I believe God was involved.

How do I get a Fully funded Phd from the same school?

What are the requirements?

Thank you.

I just applied on their website and wrote a compelling statement of purpose I believe...though I think admission for fall semester is closed...I think you might want to apply for spring 2023 if you're applying to the same university. Or better still try other universities, like Northern Illinois University or Western Illinois University. Just do your research some still have their admission open.

Good luck

I would suggest you guys apply separately and your wife adds your daughter as a dependant.

But this would mean you should be honest when asked about your partner during the interview.

My opinion sha o!

Good evening all,
I finally got an offer from Southern Illinois University for my PhD. That includes a full tuition waiver and Graduate Assistantship.
My wife also got the same offer from the same university. How do we go about applying for Visas. Do we apply individually for F1 visas?
We have a one year old child.

Please folks any help with this?
