The Russian dock landing ship "Orsk", escorted by Black Sea Fleet naval forces, entered and unloaded military equipment in the port of Berdyansk. The Ukrainian forces in Berdyansk surrendered the port without a fight, leaving the entire port infrastructure intact. This is the lastest The Ukrainians did the right thing. If they stay and fight, the port structure will be damaged by Russians looking to ground Ukraine as a whole and it will be worthless to the Ukrainians. This is why they haven't given up kyiv without a fight? |

Is the enemy of my enemy not my friend again? i think hell is the place of torment and not necessarily a place where devil torments. The devil secured his ticket there and so is headed there. He just needs to have company and so is stealing killing and destroying to make that happen. Remember, misery needs company. |

Let the officers dress this way, it does not violate their uniform What is the purpose of uniform? It is meant to be uniform and distinct for easy identification, whether for schools or police. We have taken our own religious inclination to be a thing of some kind of unregulated competition. It is all borne out of the need to survive economically along religious and tribal line. That's why Hausa is the liqua franca in NNPC today. Hausa is suppose to be one of the over 200 languages of ethnic groups in Nigeria. Religion should be a private affair but regrettably has been turned into a key part of public information. |

That's where you and I disagree on. I guess we can leave it there. Cheap fuel is not realistic. they will sell any price they like. They can sell lower to subsidize but have no business selling higher to make profit from the owners of NNPC. |

Maintenance costs
Upgrade costs
Staff costs (salaries don't remain static, they rise. THEY HAVE TO RISE, or you think you would pay Okoro who works at the refinery and has a wife and 4 children, with a set of twins on the way the same salary you paid him ten years ago, when he was single and first working at the place?)
Transpoort costs....(yes ).
That adds to the price, and subsides don't cover all those costs well. you are so funny. Foreign refiners pay more and incur more production cost. What's your point exactly? |
Politics › Re: Modular Refineries Can’t Refine Fuel Due To Price Regulation – NNPC by CyberHustle: 2:56pm On Mar 05, 2022 |
backbencher: Big difference between telecoms and petroluem...telecoms operators were allowed to set the price they wanted to set...which meant that they could operate at a profit, and that is why Glo even got into the market...the lure of profits.
Petrol in Nigeria is not sold at a profit but at a loss, and the subsidy paid to cover the loss is inadequate, hence the problems.
For the same problem to happen in GSM sector, government would have to set the price of a call at N1 for one hour. Stop lying. The govt buys for the sole purpose of selling at a loss(that is subsidy). Nobody is making a loss in the real sense. It is just a matter of buying from local refiners before selling to Nigerians at a lower rate. That isn't called a loss. It is still our collective wealth being used to subsidize the petrol. |
Politics › Re: Modular Refineries Can’t Refine Fuel Due To Price Regulation – NNPC by CyberHustle: 2:50pm On Mar 05, 2022 |
backbencher: What the NNPC boss is saying is simple.
Modular refineries can only work when government allows petrol to be sold at market price, otherwise they won't make enough of a profit to function well otherwise. even you yourself know that isn't true. Modular refineries don't incur extra cost of transportation that foreign refiners incurs. All the govt has to do is buy from the modular refineries and sell with or without subsidy as they have been doing with foreign refineries. |

Historians can agree that even though Putin is not morally right to do what he is doing, America and Britain have been doing things like this for decades.
By the way, God bless Donald J Trump Ukraine and Russia relationship is very different. Ukraine broke out by referendum. Taking into consideration inflation ad other economic factors, Jonathan was most likely asking us to pay an equivalent of N350 per liter in today's money so the protest back then was justified How did the Naira lost value? Why are we still importing crude oil products? Why aren't the refineries working? Jonathan was wasteful but Buhari has proven even more wasteful. |

paulavon: I believe this question was asked out of limited information. I graduated as a mechanical engineer over 15 yrs ago, during my 5yrs study we never did any course on Automobile. Mechanical engineering is a very wide course of study, Automobile and Aeronautical engineering are amongst the least aspect of Mechanical engineering.
There is thermodynamics, Fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mechine design, strength of materials, materials engineering, maintenance, built engineering, Refrigeration and air-conditioning, control engineering, production engineering, etc.
So you can see that there are a lot of more important branches of mechanical engineering with wide industrial applications than to narrow someone to set up a workshop for car repairs.
It is not an issue of pride or lack of knowledge, mechanical engineering is beyond what you think. most people assume engineering is like accounting where you practice with N1.500 calculator and some print outs. The average Mercedes Benz car contains thousandsbof parts made by hundreds of manufacturers. Between the factory in Germany where the designs are concieved and laid down and those hundreds of parts manufacturers is where the engineering takes place. Afterwards, it is largely a technicians job until it is scrapped as metal. Also to note is the fact that engineering is a race that involves adopting the latest technology to deliver up to date products and if you fail to adapt, then you will be consumed by competition. This means you either adopt the most expensive tools and equipment or remain in theory phase of engineering indefinitely. |
Career › Re: Why Don't Mechanical Engineer Graduates Set Up Mechanic Shops? Part 2 by CyberHustle: 5:28pm On Feb 15, 2022 |
From observation, engineers don't function in isolation from other fields as they are always bringing out machines that do specific tasks within other non engineering fields. The average university graduate of engineering isn't suppose to go straight into practice after earning a first degree They are taught fundamental principles that will enable them to go on to master smaller fields in deeper details, and then design, or more appropriately, engineer system that are reliable. They poor judgement from non engineering people also helps drive them away from trying to build anything with what they have. In the university, as dictated by supervisory bodies like NUC, engineers aren't to hit the lab and start drilling holes or casting or even molding parts. They go to the lab, where a technician employed for setting up apparatuses and demonstrating basic principles of science, guides them through practical demonstrations. All the knowledge acquired are largely to be built upon before going on to design real systems. Most of these knowledge's are even introductory at first degree level. Switching from theory based preparation to technical practice is like trying to replicate all the praticals a polytechnic graduates goes through in a very short time. It is just too harsh to expect miracle from so little. |

Now sir, reason this: if she actually knew feeding her salt will lead to this; would she have fed her? She was only careless and didn't take her diabetes serious. She acknowledged her mistake and she had apologized already. I know this trying time is enough to pass blame, but blaming her wouldn't make the matter better or worse.
It was a silly mistake, even doctors makes mistakes, you too make mistakes, she had learnt. Go back to your house and clear it from your chest and celebrate the new year with your family. Happy New year
Modified: For those quoting me For those saying it was intentional, you need to have sense. This isn't Nollywood movie it is real life. The wife was only lazy and took her sickness for granted. This is the most logical explanation. It is still thesame reason why you poison yourselves taking alcohol, soft drinks, and food rich in oil and fats, though you are conscious of this fact this things are not good for you yet you take them, this is because you are not taking your health serious and you haven't seen with your eyes the implications what this things can cause. The woman was conscious of the fact this things are not good, but she took it lightly because she haven't seen in first hand the implications. I myself haven't seen first hand the implications of diabetics. I would have made same mistake due to laziness. I hope you are balanced upstairs? |
