Sports / Anthony Joshua Invites Beyonce, Jay-z And Instagram Models To Watch Him Ringside by Cypus01: 9:53pm On Sep 08, 2019
ANTHONY JOSHUA is hoping to see everyone from Beyonce and Jay-Z, to a selection of his favourite Instagram models to watch him ringside in Saudi Arabia for his rematch against Andy Ruiz Jr.

Stars from Joe Root and Harry Kane, to Ed Sheeran and Dame Judi Dench, were among those who shared their support for AJ ahead of his defeat at Madison Square Gardens back in May.
And the 29-year-old heavyweight revealed he has a dream list of celebrities he hopes can witness him avenge the first loss of his professional career in December.
He told TMZ Sports: “Barack Obama, The Rock, Will Smith, Jay-Z, Beyonce … some Instagram models … I’m getting to the fantasy part of my brain now!

“Everyone and anyone is welcome!”

AJ can already count some of his icons as fans, after he met and posed for a picture with former US president Obama back in June.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson backed the Brit boxer to return “even better” than before after Joshua shared his praise for Ruiz following his New York defeat.
And he also had the chance to spent time with two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith ahead of his Olympic Gold medal triumph in 2012.

AJ, who can count Prince Harry and Cristiano Ronaldo as being in his corner, also discussed his renewed motivations ahead of the fight.
He added: “I took my first L as a professional and started realizing, yo, there’s people out there who are REALLY rooting for me, feeling emotionally, who really want me to win.”

“And, now mentally, I know I don’t just fight for myself. I fight for the nation, I fight for the continents, I fight for the people who love boxing. So, it’s just more than that.”
Despite his public invitation to Instagram models, the British star previously laughed off claims that he is a ladies’ man.

While it is yet to be seen which stars accept his invitation, some fans won’t be able to join them in the arena owing to Saudi Arabia’s shocking human rights record.

AJ also revealed this week that one person that has been randomly phoning him, but instead of asking for tickets, Tyson Fury has been telling him that he is going to “knock him out”.

But the Olympian, who has already promised to be smaller and smarter to ensure he regains his world heavyweight crown, dismissed talk of a Battle of Britain to TMZ.

Sports / Norwegian Club Signs Messi, Wants Ronaldo Next by Cypus01: 10:15am On Aug 26, 2019
This third-division club are quickly making headlines after signing one big-name, and have their eyes on landing another Norwegian third-division side IK Junkeren have signed Lionel Messi - a 16-year-old footballer that's recently changed his name to that of his idol.

Previously known as Daniel Are Knutsen, the attacker made the bold decision to name himself after the Barcelona star and had the name change quickly approved.

Boasting such a title, the teenager has vowed to do his best to live up to the hype and believes his style of play is similar to that of the Argentine's.
"I've had a plan for a while to change my name and I have Lionel Messi as my biggest idol. With my dedication to football, it made sense to try," the Norwegian Messi told VG .
"I want to say that I try my best to play like him. Some similarities are certainly possible to see, but the talent is probably not as great.

"I have quite similar ball control and some speed.

"Those who know me from before still use the old first name, while new ones might call me Lionel or Leo."

Knutsen, or Messi as he's now known, still has a long way to go to reach the level of his idol and will start off playing for Junkeren's G16 side, not their first-team.

While unlikely to have an immediate impact on the pitch, Messi is still undoubtedly Junkeren's most eye-catching signing and they aren't ready to stop there.

"I joked earlier that we have to look for Cristiano Ronaldo now," Junkeren general manager Runar Bo Eriksen said.

"We know that there is a Ronaldo in the transfer market who has previously played at Fauske/Sprint, so we know he is out there."

Junkeren compete in Norway's third tier having been promoted from the fourth division in 2010 when they won the league title.

The original Messi, meanwhile, is poised to play his first game of the season after overcoming a calf injury that saw him miss Barcelona's La Liga opener against Athletic Bilbao.

In his absence, the Catalans stumbled to a shock 1-0 loss and will be hoping to find their feet against Real Betis on Sunday.

Barcelona claimed the La Liga title with ease last season, finishing 11 points clear of Atletico Madrid.

A family source was quoted as saying, “Mugabe has made it clear to his family that he does not wish to be buried at the National Heroes’ Acre anymore. He does not want to be associated with Mnangagwa and all those he now views as his betrayers and tormentors.
“He has said he doesn’t want them to sing and pontificate over his dead body. He has informed relatives about his decision and this is known in the family; it’s also now known in government circles.”

Crime / Herdsmen Carry Arms For Self-defence, Fulani Group Tells Obasanjo by Cypus01: 12:48pm On Aug 04, 2019
The National Chairman of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria, Sali Bayari, has explained that herdsmen carry arms to “have balance of terror.”

Bayari lamented that the security chiefs and government failed to pay attention to herdsmen and farmers clashes before the situation escalated.

Bayari stated this on Saturday while meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

GAFDAN stressed the need for the government and Nigerians to come together to find solution to the herdsmen/farmers’ clashes.

He said, “The issue has gone beyond herdsmen/farmers crisis; it has led to kidnapping and banditry and if we are not careful, it may lead to a kind of jihadist/ militant group and that is what we fear.

“We wrote several letters to the authorities even to the security chiefs, but we don’t get any response.

“There are times we begin to wonder whether the security chiefs are more interested in the crisis than in peace.

“We also discovered that there are some people who don’t want peace in this country. We think they have various reasons or a particular interest that is making them not to want peace to reign in the country.

“If all your efforts toward achieving peace would be destroyed by those who are supposed to give you peace, then you begin to look for another means and that is what led to people (herdsmen) arming themselves to have balance of terror.”

The Fulani leader, however, commended the former president for facilitating the meeting to deliberate on how to tackle the security challenges.

He added, “If we had another father like Obsanjo in all the regions, maybe we will not be in this mess. What has brought us into this sorry state is the fact that when a problem starts, the leaders are not always concerned until it gets to the level of self-help.

“The problem we have in this country is that our leaders do not read and therefore not informed and that is why Obasanjo is different. He has made efforts more than those in government.”

In his response, Obasanjo urged everybody to be involved in the fight against insecurity.

Obasanjo also advised Nigerians to stop the blame game and come together to fight the menace of kidnapping, banditry, among other social vices currently threatening the country’s unity.

Speaking about the meeting, Obasanjo said it became imperative to meet with the Fulani leaders in the South-West.

The former president explained that the meeting was to deliberate and come up with resolutions that could strengthen the unity of the country.

Obasanjo added, “How to move Nigeria forward irrespective of our religion, ethnicity, training, profession, among others is all came here to discuss.

“There is nobody here who could do all these for us, it is the responsibility of you and me.

“It is not a one man’s job; it is the job for all Nigerians and it is until we see it that way that we can now move forward.

“We should stop passing blame, everybody is involved and everybody should all take the responsibility to correct what is wrong and make it right.”

Also present at the meeting was the spokesperson of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin and representatives of the Fulani groups across the 36 states.

Crime / Alleged N3.4bn Fraud: Kano Anti-graft Agency Recommends Sanusi’s Suspension by Cypus01: 10:41pm On Jun 05, 2019
The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has recommended the suspension of the Emir of Kano , Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi, over alleged misappropriation of N3.4bn by the Kano Emirate Council.

The commission, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, said during its investigation, it discovered that N3.4bn was allegedly misappropriated by the Kano Emirate Council between 2014 and 2017.

The preliminary report of investigation conducted by the commission was signed by its Chairman, Muhuyi Magaji.
According to NAN, the investigation followed a petition against the council.

The commission alleged that the council spent over N1.4bn on items believed to be fraudulent and “unappropriated”.

The report also alleged that the council spent over N1.9bn unappropriated on seemingly personal things.

It said the expenditure contravened the provisions of Section 120 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Section 8 of the Kano State Emirate Council Special Fund Law 2004.

It added that the expenditure had also violated Section 314 of Penal Code as well as provisions of Section 26 of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Law 2008 (as amended).

The commission recommended that the “principal suspect in the person of Muhammad Sanusi II and all other suspects connected with the case be suspended, pending the final outcome of the investigations”.

It added, “This is a necessary administrative disciplinary action aimed at preventing the suspects from further interfering with the commission’s investigations.

“The commission further recommends that the contract awarded to Tri-C Nigeria Limited for the renovation of Babban Daki, Kofar Kudu and Gidan Sarki Dorayi should be revoked.”

The commission added, “During the course of the commission’s investigations, expenditure that was incurred without following due process or appears to be suspicious was uncovered. Huge sums of money were transferred to some banks accounts which were claimed to be companies’ accounts.

“However, the companies appear to be either unregistered with the Corporate Affairs Commission or dormant that cannot appear in the public search of the companies register. Investigations also shows that those unregistered companies are linked to some of the identified suspects in the emirate council. Investigation will later reveal the beneficial owners of those entities.”
It also recommended that further legal action should be taken against all the suspects as soon as the final outcome of the investigations were concluded and legal advice issued.

As of the time of filing this report, the council had yet to react to the allegations of misappropriation of funds levelled against it by the commission.

But a Kano lawyer and activist, Abdulsalam Yusuf, said, “What happened was that some interested people petitioned the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, alleging misappropriation of funds to the tune of N2.4bn at the Kano Emirate Council.’’

According to him, the agency feels duty-bound to “investigate the emir, who is the custodian of the emirate’s funds”.
However, a Kano civil rights activist, Mr Ibrahim Maryam, contended that the said money was the actual money inherited by Sanusi.

Maryam said the commission should first investigate how much the late Emir Ado Bayero left behind and how much was paid as his royalties, including additional salary increment for emirate staff.
The activist called for an independent body to investigate the allegations rather than the state-owned anti-corruption agency.
