UNITED COULD MISS NINE PLAYERS FOR REDS CLASH Jose Mourinho looks set to have some big decisions to make. Manchester United could be without nine players for their crucial clash with Liverpool this weekend. United had seven players remain in Manchester for their Champions League clash with Valencia. Alexis Sanchez (hamstring) and Victor Lindelof (thigh) were already ruled out of the trip to Anfield. According to the Manchester Evening News, Luke Shaw aggravated an injury in the warm-up against Fulham on Saturday, while Chris Smalling left the field injured. Matteo Darmian and Anthony Martial sat out that game altogether. Diogo Dalot and Scott McTominay also missed the Valencia game, while Marcos Rojo left injured at half-time. “Marcos Rojo no because he’s injured,” Mourinho said when asked if any of the starters in Valencia would start against Liverpool. “The rest are not injured, they belong to the squad, we have lots of players that were not here today because they are injured, this is our squad, our players, they have a chance to play Sunday. “Smalling is injured, Lindelof is injured, Darmian is injured, Martial is injured, Dalot is injured, the only two players I could bring and didn’t was De Gea and Matic.” REDS FACING DIRE DEFENSIVE CRISIS Liverpool is facing a Christmas defensive crisis, with Joel Matip the latest to suffer an injury blow. The defender could miss up to six weeks after fracturing his collarbone. Matip was injured in the final minutes of Liverpool’s 1-0 win against Napoli in the Champions League at Anfield on Tuesday. The 27-year-old landed awkwardly following an aerial challenge and is now set to undergo surgery. “Matip was taken to hospital following the fixture and further assessment deemed an operation is required,” a Liverpool statement said. “Early indications suggest the centre-back is facing a spell of up to six weeks out of action, though that is dependent on how Matip responds to his treatment and rehabilitation programmes.” Cameroon centre-back Matip had started the Reds’ last three matches and his injury is blow to Liverpool’s hopes of remaining on top of the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s side, who sit one point above Manchester City, are already without injured defender Joe Gomez for six weeks after he suffered a leg fracture in last week’s win at Burnley. Meanwhile, right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold came off injured against Napoli with a foot injury and will undergo scans, and centre back Dejan Lovren has only started six games this season because of injuries and a recent concussion. SPURS SET FOR REINFORCEMENTS AS GUNNERS CONSIDER OPTIONS Tottenham could see some players return for its clash with Burnley. Kieran Trippier, Serge Aurier (both groin injuries), Juan Foyth and Davinson Sanchez (both hamstrings) could all be in the mix to return. “Yes, some players (could return),” manager Mauricio Pochettino said ahead of the game. “(Trippier?) Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino confirms “there will be changes” for the showdown with Inter today. One of English Premier League giants Manchester United made it known on Tuesday that pre-season plans for the 2019 pre-season tour. Manchester United in its announcement will play Perth Glory and Leeds United as part of its 2019 pre-season tour. Both fixtures, the first of United's 2019 tour schedule will take place at the Optus Stadium, Perth. And United will play against Perth Glory on Saturday 13 July and Leeds United on Wednesday 17 July respectively. This will be the club’s fifth visit to Australia, the first being in 1967 when they toured Australia, playing eight friendly matches. The last time Premier League giant, Manchester United visited Perth was in 1975. The match against Leeds United will be the first time the old rivals have met since 2011. Wenger often wear the coat on mid-way during matches and watching him try to do up his zip often brings laughter to fans. A naked photo of Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini unintentionally photo-bombing this Cristiano Ronaldo picture has gone viral. If you look in the background in the picture below, you can see the Italy international completely starkers in the dressing room just casually wandering about. The shots were obviously taken after the game over the weekend between AC Milan and Juventus. Ronaldo was posing for a picture at the time, and you have to wonder if whoever it was taking the photo noticed the naked Chiellini across the room. In fairness, it’s a bit of a miracle this kind of thing doesn’t happen more considering the number of dressing room selfies like this you get on social media in the modern game. Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi is unhappy over news making the rounds among Nigerian fans, that he is not showing commitment playing for the national team. Bundesliga league leaders Borussia Dortmund put up a superlative display as they came twice from behind to beat arch rivals Bayern Munich. The five goal-thriller encounter saw Borussia Dortmund extend their lead on the Bundesliga table. Bayern’s forward Robert Lewandowski struck against his former club after heading home from the edge of the six-yard box. Dortmund fought on and were in more adventurous in the first half of the match. And they levelled from the penalty spot through Marco Reus after he had been fouled by Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer. Lewandowski was on the score sheet again as he gave Bayern the reason to lead again. Nevertheless, the resilient Dortmund side scored two goals in six second-half minutes to see them come out victorious. Lewandowski felt he had equalized in the 94th minute but his hat-trick celebration was short-lived as it was ruled for off-side. Cape Town - South African top boxer Kevin Lerena has found himself mixed in a doping incidence, as confirmed by the World Boxing Council [WBC]. Despite full details on the issue remains unclear, the WBC in a tweet on Wednesday said that Lerena had “tested positive” last month. "BREAKING NEWS: Boxer Kevin Lerena tested positive in a test by @Vada_Testing done in October 18, in Johannesburg, South Africa," the WBC tweeted. VADA is the Voluntary Anti-Doping Society – It is an organisation that works with the WBC on the Clean Boxing Programme. Lerena, 26, who is the current IBO World Cruiserweight champion, became a professional boxer in 2009 and has a professional record of 21-1. It will be recalled that Lerena found himself in the spotlight back in 2014 during the Oscar Pistorius murder trial when he testified in the state's case against the former South African Paralympian star. One of Nigeria Professional Football League [NPFL] elite club Akwa United will name their new head coach, on Monday, 5th November. Akwa United also called ‘The Promise Keepers’ have been without a head coach since Abdu Maikaba moved to Jos to pitch tents with Plateau United. Maikaba had been with Akwa United for two seasons guiding them to lift the prestigious ‘Aiteo Cup’. The Promise won the Aiteo Federation Cup last year following a 3-2 penalty shoot-out win against Niger Tornadoes. The management of 3SC have confirmed that 22 players of the club have were hospitalized on Monday ahead of their midweek NNL clash. 3SC were billed top play against Bendel Insurance in Benin but was plagued by suspected food poisoning. The sides were scheduled to go head to head in a top of the table clash in Group B1 of the second tier League, but after a supper of vegetables, players of the visiting team were struck by a common symptom of food contamination. In a report by Sporting Tribune’s Niyi Alebiosu and Olawale Olaniyan, 3SC media Officer of Jubril Arowolo said: “the players were rushed to hospital about 11:00 pm on Monday following the incident”. Paul when asked said Rondon spat on his face which led to the fracas. An NBA statement said all three had thrown punches. "Ingram has been suspended for aggressively returning to and escalating the altercation and throwing a punch in the direction of Paul, confronting a game official in a hostile manner, and instigating the overall incident by shoving Rockets guard James Harden," said the statement. "Rondo has been suspended for instigating a physical altercation with, and spitting and throwing multiple punches at, Paul. "Paul has been suspended for poking at and making contact with the face of Rondo, and throwing multiple punches at him." One great obstacle would be the sheer humiliation for Barcelona, to come crawling back to a player who so cruelly walked away after weeks of subterfuge. PSG and Neymar did assent a deal behind Barcelona’s back, with the player’s father pulling the wool over the club’s eyes during the tour of the United States until everything was tied up in the French capital. "The latest is he is going to be going to practice every day, which he has been, and plans to play in games," Taylor told the Star Tribune, which he owns. "He will be a regular team player. What I said to him in the meantime is our GM, Scott Layden, will be talking to other teams to see if there is a trade that works." Taylor was asked if Butler will play with maximum effort, and he spoke thus,: "Butler said that is the only way he knows how to do it.” Butler would enter free agency next summer but is desperate to move on sooner. And Taylor reveals that they’ve agreed to let him leave should a suitable trade package be offered up. "That is not part of the plan, but as you know, things can change," Taylor said. "But that is not what we have agreed to."
