Timtol:In my opinion, Just dont spam the thread with adverts. I know it could be difficult at times, to draw attention to what you have to showcase if left and dumped under a pile of threads that people probably dont even bother to open   But just one good picture of your drawings and a LINK to your thread where you have all your adverts/work done, should do the trick. Dont post multiple advert here on this thread, it can damage the eyes. Welldone on those drawings. Tone down the primary colours, use mostly secondary colours, especially for Residential dwellings, take a cue from experienced Archys in the house *And dont get sarcastic as well, l can smell that from one mile. *Take your time to write well when you post, it gives a bad impression to potential customers when they cant really "coordinate" what you are trying to get across. 1 Like

It appears funny to me that when we need help, we reach out to these people and they volunteer their knowledge, business/trade secrets and other things which ordinarily would have cost money, and we gleefully accept it (and call it knowledge sharing! But when it comes to the "grace" of them showcasing the same thing that we benefited from, we call it advertisement and we dont want to see it. In the real sense of it, there has always been advertisement on this thread, from day one because when someone answers a question and showcases "knowledge", we patronise the person! Someone has a question recently (water-pump electrical problem) and @Rotech gratefully came to the rescue by showcasing his knowledge of the issue and "got patronised" by the person who has the problem. That is a mutually benefiting situation. In case you dont get my point clearly, let me use an example to illustrate: This poster in question is showcasing Architectural drawings he did and has added his numbers for those who think his work is wohthwhile and might want to engage him. The same "architect" or Engineer is whom we ask all sort of building/construction questions from, on this same thread (Skimanski, Aventures, Podoski, Spyder, e.t.c) and we receive answers from them! What if they told us: If you need an answer, then come over to my thread, how would we feel? Recall that we have all been slamming them for not wanting to do anything for free or help a brother or they charge too high. I dont sell anything and l dont have anything to advertise but l think that we are getting too selfish and greedy! The relationship should be mutual as long as it is not OVERDONE (like that guy Batlam that sells Roofing materials spams every thread with multiple adverts) We must remember that no one places his product in a corner, if he wants to sell it. You will naturally place where you know the "traffic" will see it.If a 'new person' places his job on this thread, to introduce what he does and then puts a link to another thread he has created specially for such products (the real advert thread), l think we will all be the better for it. It is also important that we "assist the younger, upcoming ones" who are just getting into the act. the likes of Aventures, Skimanski, Spyder, e.t,c are established names (due to their good and standard work) but they were once like this person. We should be careful not to "appear as" bullying the younger, upcoming ones Nobody paid @Seun to post on this thread or copy things from here, ask beneficial questions or benefit from this thread. It is the "experts" mostly that gave free advice and info, (and the not so expert who later became expert, after learning from the experts and practising it on their own build) that made this thread what it is, not who created it or because there is no advert in it. We should never forget that. It is a community. What we should preach is MODERATION and not just think about our own interest, all the time. I dont want the thread to be spammed but l also dont want us acting like we own the thread and all we want to see is what we can gain from it. Life is GIVE and TAKE. If l have benefited from Spyders knowledge or Abdulwastecx knowledge and he wants to introduce something he can make money from while l benefit from it, to me, on the same thread where l gained from him, what the heck should l be complaining about, as long as he does not repeatedly spam the thread? This is my final position on the matter. Anyway, I will Negodu in my small corner because l have nothing to advertise and therefore would not push the matter beyond this. 1 Like |

If people like you can just use that Brain that you dont have , you will realise that the statement he made back then was a "political statement", no different from when some Niger Delta leaders says if the Fed. Govt attacks some militants, it is an attack on the whole Niger Delta. Does that mean all N.D leaders are militants? Back then, even Buhari himself thought that the war on Boko Haram was just an excuse to militarise the North and turn it to a theatre of war, create instability there, create refugee problem, impose a state of emergency and prevent elections from holding there. All these are the type of reactions that you expect and get from people who are "tribal" in their thinking and outlook towards life. That does not mean Buhari is a backer of Boko Haram. Otherwise how come the only and greatest defeat of Boko Haram in warfare is coming under his command and behest? Think, Ibo man....use that flat head to do something worthwhile. |

This thread would be nothing, if not for all the people who post here, including their diverse opinion, hence we should be a bit circumspect in this "reportage" because as we all know, everyone can report every post they dont wanna see and let me also add that our taste can differ beyond anyone's imagination! Having said that, my personal opinion is that we should not castigate the poster or report it but "advice him to LIMIT the number of post that advertise his trade ...while placing a link to another thread that he should have opened to showcase his full jobs". Seeing your environment is a bit "isolated", l will suggest that you be careful when you want to doing your electrical wiring. let it be one of the last thing to be done and when you want to do it, please do provide some sort of "sleep-over" security for the house. Thieves have been known to remove all cables overnight, especially when the fittings have not been screwed-in and the wires have no tgone live with Electricity. I know that fencing may not be all that feasible right now, for cost reasons so, we need to think about other means of securing the cables. Cables are so expensive now, l will hate some heartless thieves coming to wreck havoc on your struggle. 3 Likes |

I suspect the reason for the lack of response is because you have "localised" the response you want, to a particular area of the country, where NO ONE probably has any idea of! Most people, like me, probably dont know how much they sell Iron Rods, Cement, Sand, Plank, Nails, binding wire and other inputs required to achieve your request in that place you said is in Ogun state! I dont even know where the area is and if l dont, how can l gauge the cost of labour in the area? What l think you should do is get the cost of doing a soak-away and a German floor (if you would provide the details of the area to be covered by the concrete slab) in a general area like Lagos, PHC, Abuja or any other area and then, using your own knowledge of "local price" of materials in your locality, extrapolate it and do some adaptation to your own peculiar needs. If you think such discussions are "disruptive", then it means you are not smart enough, to realize that the "political situation" is actually the reason and cause/effect of rising price of building materials, viz-a-viz cost of housing, availability of housing, optional building techniques, the safety of buildings, viz-a-viz adulteration of building inputs like Elelctrical accesories, if you are not aware that CORRUPTION, sanctioned by Political elites, is what is making you buy fake Coleman cables and Iron rods which are causes of collapsing houses and sudden inferno, then you actually do not belong here! I bet all those issues l mentioned are not "building issues" in your own "limited horizon and dictionary". This thread has gone beyond the "baby level" of asking questions that have already been answered over and over in previous pages! If you need answers to simple questions, dont be too lazy to read through the pages and sift your answers from there. It is only when you are still stuck that people should respond to your S.O.S We have talked about ROOF, God knows how many times (I still remember a particular time when Flat Roof Vs. Heaped Roof was a topic for over three days. its still there in those back pages but some people just want to be spoon-fed at every turn. Anyone who cannot stomach a "complete learning experience" and just want to come here to repeat questions that have already been answered, should just lie-low or log-off during those periods when mature people look at "the bigger picture".
