I wholeheartedly recommend this guy for his responsiveness and professional courtesy.
While it is good to recommend someone, l think we all should move to the next level of the recommendation.
A few people have "recommended" someone based on their experience and the result was a major disaster (l wont mention names for now).

And what follows/ the person who did the recommendation simply WITHDRAWS the recommendation and that is it! grin grin grin
The Client is left to clear the mess but the Client only acted based on the recommendation (a honest one though) of the 3rd party.

So, l think anyone who wants to stick out their neck for a contractor, should GIVE A GUARRANTEE UNDERTAKING, to MAKE GOOD, whatever the loss the Client suffers from the contractor they recommend. undecided undecided

We must start putting our money where our mouth is (no pun intended for @jabolo).

Other people in the house, what do you think about this idea?

He's actually talking about roof water collector system not parapet.

And yes it does matter. Total height of a bungalow is about 3m. For a duplex its about 6m. The materials for water collector system is sold in metres.

Raphael007:
Hello good day OP, I guess you where to direct and since you know he is your boss you probably should have chosen your words carefully, and also hit the nail on the head without sounding rude. My advice write him a short mail and apologize for the way you addresed the first mail that you where under alot of stress, Do not say pressure as that is one of those things that is supposed to make you better even in decision making that's one of the reason you where employed anyways.
while your advice is good, l think, as someone who has managed a lot of people in an environment where "Yes Sir" is the only reply you expect from surbodinates, We also appreciate "Juniors who can speak the truth, uncoated and direct".

Infact, if l want to feel the real impulse of my 'Boys' l have about three lower ranks that l invite over to my office and tell them to "take it easy and speak freely off record".
That is the only timel really get to know what exactly is going-on in everyone's mind and l cherish those moments because they have saved a lot of situation, ebven life-threatening situation.

So, while decorum and diplomacy are good/standard practice, a good Boss, who is worth his rank and sure of himself, should not take too much offense at being called out, especially when you know you are guilty of what is said.

But then, disrespecting your Boss is a No-No, for me.

CrimeRe: Nigerian Lady Jailed 21 Years For Attempted Murder Of 90-Year-Old Woman In UK by Daboomb: 5:55am On Nov 03, 2017
I am appalled by this incident, l mean how can anyone intheir right mind, attack an old woman who has just lost her husband? Even the Devil must be wondering whether someone has overtaaken her in the act of wickedness.

But l am even more ashamed at the "reasoning capacity of our Youths"!
When important matters (like this) come into public space, the ONLY THING you hear our Youths talking about is whether the accused person is Igbo, Afonja or Fulani. ......all they think about nowadays is ETHNIC BIGOTRY!
And these and the people that are asking for a "power shift" from the old Politicians, to the young generation?
Are these the calibre of young people that we should hand-over the reins of Govt to?

Someone recently pointed out that these "Youths" are far worse and would do worse than their older generations.
And really, "evidence" is pointing in that direction if you look and compare cases of Terrorism, Kidnapping, cultism, e.t.c, between the Older generation and their Younger generation.

Nigeria needs a moral and mental revolution because the current set of YOUTHS will put the final nail into the coffin of this country and make it worse that Somalia.

In this case of a Nigerian in the U.K, it seems odd to me that the testimony of the woman was NOT MADE PUBLIC?
For example, l would want to know what she went to do in the widow's house
- I would want to know if she really had a Knife and a Hammer in her bag?
- If she did, what was her explanation for having such offensive weapon in her bag, in public?
- What was her explanation of the attack on the old woman in her home?

I am not trying to exoneratee the woman (Abosede) but l think it is only sensible and intelligent, to ask th rigth questions, get the right answers, before you castigate anyone of a grevious offence as murder, especially of an elderly woman

Now, l am not a fan of an "all white jury", in trial of a black person. I think th ejury should be more "racially balanced".

The woman warned them not to reinstate a fugitive pension thief but they ignored her and got him reinstated and promoted.

But immediately premium times leaked the story that Maina is working in the Ministry of Interior, they put it on the HOS that they should ask her. They want to destroy the woman's hard earned image she used over 35 years to build.

Instead of sacking Abba Kyari, Dambazzau, Malami immediately they are summoning her.

Thank you Ma'am for being bold and courageous, even if they sack you, God will take care of you and your family forever.
Even if they sack her today, at her level of HoS, she is never going to beg for food or anything like that.

It is obvious that Buhari is "beholdened" to these criminals in his cabinet and he cant be himslef again.

Otherwise, AGF Malami, Abbba Kyari, Babachir Lawal and Lawal Daura should have been sacked and gone a long time.

It is sad, to see Buhari self-destructing and ruining his own image, just because of NEPOTISM

CrimeRe: Imo Police Command Parades Cultists, Armed Robbers And Kidnappers(photos) by Daboomb: 12:29pm On Nov 01, 2017
kirajustice:
PRESS BRIEFING BY CP CHRIS O. EZIKE, COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, IMO STATE COMMAND ON MONDAY 30TH OCTOBER 2017 AT COMMAND HEADQUARTERS, OWERRI IMO STATE.

Gentlemen of the Press,

You may recall that on the 7th and 11th of September 2017 respectively, I addressed you on the occasion of parade of suspects who kidnapped and murdered Late Rev Fr Cyriacus Onunkwo and the Commendation/award ceremony of Police personnel who arrested the suspects and successfully investigated the case. Since these two press briefings, we have continued to make tremendous progress in the fight against crime and criminality in Imo State. The peace and tranquility we have witnessed in the past two months can only be attributed to the high profile arrests and recoveries the Command has made within the period under review. As we approach the two critical months of November and December the Command shall do the following;

(i) Continue the all out offensive against criminals through intelligence led raids, cordon and search, diligent investigation of arrested suspects and successful prosecution of cases.
(ii) We shall also continue to be more visible at black spots, strategic junctions, public places and commercial centres.
(iii) The guard of banks/financial houses shall also be our top priority.
(iv) We shall also pay special attention to general and specific security of Imolities from the Diaspora who have returned home to enjoy the yuletide.
2. Today, we shall be show-casing our modest efforts in restoring peace, law and order in Assa, Obile, Awara and other neighboring communities in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State. The worrisome incidence of cultism, brigandage, kidnapping and general Youth restiveness associated with armed robbery and unprecedented violence forced these Communities to flee for their dear lives in the last 20 months. In our efforts to curb violence, stop the killings, restore law and order, arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act, show, shame and prosecute them, the Command in conjunction with the Military has made several arrests and recovered exhibits. A stabilization team of both Police and the Military have taken absolute charge and the cultists are being given a run for their money. Some pictorial evidence available to the investigating team revealed gory escapades of these sons and daughters of devil and how their mindless and inhuman but avoidable activities sent humanity to their early graves. We are determined to ensure that cultists are not allowed a field day anymore.

3. We shall also reveal some other achievements in anti-robbery, anti-kidnapping and anti-human trafficking operations. These operations are presently ongoing and shall continue till the end of January, 2018.

4. The Command shall also be taking part in Anambra State elections with the deployment of about 600 personnel. This is not only in compliance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police but in keeping with the policy of joint and collaborative efforts to achieve greater results.

On the 29th day of August 2017, Oluchi Chibike ‘f’ the cousin to Abigail Ukah ‘f’ came to Uzoagba in Ikeduru LGA, in company of one Obinna Eze ‘m’ whom Oluchi Chibiko told the victim Abigail Ukah, was her intended husband. Their mission was to take her Abigail with her two children Francis Nwachukwu 5years old and Chimazaekpere Nwachukwu 2years old to visit Obinna’s house at Afara Mbaitoli L.G.A. Obinna thereafter carried them on his motorcycle at about 12pm to his house.

At about 6pm unknow to the victim that Obinna and Oluchi have concluded plans to attack her and take away her children, Obinna and Oluchi hired one Vitalis Lumanze and Chinatu AKA “Salasco” whom they paid the sum of One hundred and sixty thousand naira (N160,000) to attack her on their way back to Uzoagba Ikeduru. At about 1900hrs of same date along Amankuta Mbieri a lonely bush path, the two hired men emerged armed with matchet and torch Light, attacked the victim gave her several matchet cuts all over her body, dragged her and dumped her inside the bush believing that she has died while Obinna and Oluchi carried the two Children back to Obinna’s house at Afara Mbaitoli were they slept. In the morning of 30th August 2017, Oluchi and Obinna took the two children to Enugu State and sold them to one Mrs Nkiru Nwanedu ‘f’ of Egwedi Njaba LGA at the cost of One Million one hundred thousand Naria (N1, 100,000) but paid them the sum of seven hundred thousand naira (N700,000) promising to pay the balance on a later date. Nkiru Nwanedu 45yrs old later resold the children to one Mrs. Jacinta Amadi ‘f’ 45yrs of Egede in Udi LGA Enugu State who took custody of the two children from 30th August 2017 till 27th October 2017 when they were arrested from their various hideouts at Enugu State and the two children recovered. The syndicate has been smashed remaining only Chinatu A.K.A Salasco who is still at large.

15. SPECIAL DUTIES

In addition, the Vice President of Nigeria Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, GCON also visited Imo State. Furthermore the Common Wealth Parliamentary Union, Africa Region hosted their Conference in Owerri for about one week. This is not forgetting the galaxy and array of dignitaries that grace the activities that marked the Birthday of His Excellency Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha OON.

I thought as a law enforcement official we shall not take for granted that these ceremonies were successfully completed without any security breach or incident. I wish to commend all officers and men of the Command for living up to expectation. Also the synergy between the Police and other security Agencies is further exemplified by the successes recorded at these events.

16. REWARD FOR HARD WORK

I wish to thank our Ezes and the Presidents of the Town Unions for their Community partnership disposition. I implore them to step up their games by re-engineering the Neighourhood and Community Vilgitante machineries as an added impetus to complement Police efforts. To my brothers and sisters in the media, your enthusiasm, commendable reportage and necessary criticisms of our works and activities can only be the reason why we are doing well. To all of us, stay out of trouble and be law abiding.

If the case were opposite in their country they would have arrested the diplomat in the process citing their law as being superior

So American embassy officials have the right to chase people on Nigerian roads?
That is what the DPO should have asked those driving the Embassy vehicle?
If Peter Rufai did actually brush them and failed to stop (assuming), what the law allows them is to go and file a report at the nearest police station, not chasing him and endagering his Life!

Our Policemen are just too ignorant of what the law says and l am sure they are just "awed" by the fact that an American Embassy SUV drove into their compound. angry angry
What if they had killed Rufai in the process of chasing him or he crashes his vehicle and died?
Is it legal for you to be chasing someone at high speed and bashing them continually ?(that is actually attempted murder, if you get a proper lawyer!)

Can the Nigerian Embassy officials go about chasing Americans in their own country like that?

Our Police officers are just too daft and ignorant to enforce the law.

IMO, Peter Rufai should get a sound lawyer and sue them for endagering his life and they should pay damages. Simple
If that was tried in the same America, l am sure the driver of that vehicle and those chasing the victim will probably be in jail right now.

I got a quotation of 290k for parapet dimensions of 17m x 13m.
Would that be appropriate or fair?
Dont be too concerned about how much the Contractor quoted (I am not saying you should not be worried if given an unreasonable quote).
What l think you should pay more attention to, is that the job is well done and your Parrapet wont start falling-off after a few years, l have seen such happen.

To be sure you are not wasting money or being coned, get involved in your building.
Negotiate labour alone while you buy and supply the needed Cement, Sand, Iron and wood to do the form-work.
keep a close eye on what is being done and ensure they stick to "good standards".

You may agree to even #200,000 and the Contractor then spacse the hanging irons at distances that are too far apart to give effective support or fills the Parapet with a very weak mix of concrete (in your absence) and you will never know, until a few years down the line.
grin grin grin

I would say you read through this thread and other threads where Parapet has been done so you can familiarise yourself with the knowledge because it is not a big deal at all (if you read and have the knowledge o).

A good build is not just about how much (High or Low) is charged or paid, it is more of KNOWLEDGE and CORRECT SUPERVISION

Goodluck.

PoliticsRe: Banning Of Open Grazing, An Invitation To Anarchy, Fulani Group Warns by Daboomb: 12:21pm On Oct 31, 2017
whateverkay:
They are Nigerians and they have the right to graze their cattles in any part of the federation. Banning them isn't the solution, we need to plead with them and create an enabling environment for their business to thrive. After all, we can't live a day without eating meat
You see, the CONSTITUTION is what gives anyone, any RIGHT.
The Constitution of Nigeria is what allows "Freedom of association and OCCUPATIONr"

While the constitution gives you RIGHTS, it also gives you OBLIGATIONS and even RESPONSIBILITIES that LIMITS those RIGHTS!

For example, your RIGHT to engage in an OCCUPATION is LIMITED and SUBJECT TO your RESPONSIBILITY to ENSURE THAT such RIGHT does not INFRINGE on the RIGHT of others to engage in their own OCCUPATION.

As it is said in legal parlance, your own RIGHTS becomes extinguished, wherever is starts trampling on the RIGHTS of others.

Herdsmen have a right to be herdsmen and graze their Catttle but that Right ends wherever they trample on the Right of FARMERS and other Citizens to own and cultivate their FARMLANDS.
What the law does is to interven and enforce EQUITY between two contending parties.
And the ONLY EQUITY here is for the Herdsmen to STOP GRAZING on the FARMLANDS of others.

If they want, they can buy the whole of Sokoto and other Fulani States and make it an open grazing field, as long as the laws of tha states allows.

But if they come to Benue or Kogi or Ekiti or Osun states for example, and then graze their cattles on the land, cash crops and sweat of the Farmers (or even kill them in the process), then they have become Criminals and Terrorists.

You cant plead with Criminals and Terrorists because they just dont care about your own plea or your life.
And by the way, We can source our Meat from a thousand other places (including importation from other countries) so, eating Fulani meat is not by force.
People from other countries eat mat as well and it is not Nigerian Fulani meat nor do they have to be slaughtered and their livelihood destroyed, just to eat meat.

I dont like stupid analogies like you posted.
PoliticsRe: Banning Of Open Grazing, An Invitation To Anarchy, Fulani Group Warns by Daboomb: 11:12am On Oct 31, 2017
An AK47-wielding herdsman on duty. This is the new normal in cattle grazing

● Middle Belt youths gather in Jos to discuss issue

Seriki Adinoyi in Jos

The Secretary-General of Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN), Alhaji Sale Bayeri, has warned that banning of open grazing in Plateau State will create more problems than it intends to resolve, noting that the Fulanis do not know any other method of grazing their cattle, “and any attempt to confine them to a place was a sure invitation to anarchy.”
Well, if it is ANARCHY you want, then Anarchy you will get!
The Military and the Police Authorities are the ones encouraging these Murderers.

When it comes to Fulani criminals, the Security Agencies TURN A BLIND EYE and it is simply because Buhari himself has ENBOLDENED THEM further, bt pretending that he does not know what is happening.
Buhari has always been guilty of NEPOTISM.... if not for the Corrupt and Clueless Fuckup of Jonathan, Buhari should never have made it to Aso Rock.

As it is now, the Governors of those state, their Assembly members and the local vigilantes must work together and be armed, to repel these attacks, since the Security Agencies have been shown to be complicit in the attacks.

People have a RIGHT TO LIFE and SELF DEFENCE, once the Security Agencies who are paid to do such jobs decide to turn a blind eye.
If a Fulani under-age Boy can OPENLY carry an AK-47 weapon without being arrested, then others should also carry same and prevent being arrested by the same Secuity forces.
What is good for the Geese, is also good for the Gander.

Worst case, we all also start to rear a few Cattles, if that is what legalise carrying weapons.

But while the communique of the Middle Belt youths’ meeting was still being awaited, the Fulani have forewarned of the consequences of banning open grazing reserve, which they said will spell anarchy in Plateau.

While warning that banning of open grazing should not be contemplated in Plateau State, Bayeri posited that it would be tantamount to banning a people’s way of life.

He said: “[b]Saying that you will ban open grazing on the Plateau is laughable because the average Fulani man does not know any other way of grazing his cows
. This is a practice that started right from Adam, and for you to say you want to remove or curb it is an invitation to anarchy really.

“If you want to ban open grazing, you can equally ban open farming because the two agricultural activities go hand in hand and you can’t have one without the other. You can’t eat rice without meat for the soup or stew.”
Bayeri added: “Again, the resistance that will come with such measure is not what Plateau needs at this time.
Look at the stupid logic of these herdsmen!
Brazil is the world's highest producer of Beef, their ancestors were also Rearers but today, they practice Animal Husbandry through RANCHING.
Fulanis are not from another planet and "Ranching" is not Rocket Science, it just means the animals are confined to a particular space.
How then do other countries like the USA, Brazil Ireland, Argentina, e.t.c who do practice animal roaming, stll have Beef to eat and export, without murdering their citizens?

Infact, one needs to ask whether it is the Cattle that is 'grazing the Fulani herders' or it is the other way round?
The animals are not complaining so, why are the cattle rearers telling us they ont know any other way?
What is special about running around some other people's farm, feeding the cattle on their crops which they suffered to plant and destroying the farm, while murdering the owners of such farms?
Any "Mindless Criminal" can do that.

Are these "MEITTI ALLAH, GAFDAN and emebers of similar cattle-rearing organisations" saying they cannot learn how to stay in one large farm, to rear their cattles?

Are they so daft that they cant learn simple things...but can easily lean how to shoot a gun, even at an early age?

Nepotism will disbarn this country faster than any IPOB agitation but let us not make any mistake about it that it would be Peaceful.
When it happens, Rwanda, Sudan and similar places will be like child's play.
If the hausa/Fulani Northerners actually cherish the Unity of Nigeria (and not the subjugation of other tribes) then they better start speaking out and acting against these NEPOTISM and DOUBLE STANDARD.

Igbos saying they want to leave Nigeria is one thing but the whole of Southern Nigeria coming together to say Enough of these Fulani/Hausa Subjugation and Nepotism is a different ball-game the North cannot fight.
We hope it does not get to that level as it is already very close to it now.

Meanwhile, the Plateau State House of Assembly has expressed support for the proposed anti-open grazing bill in the state.

Responding, the Majority Leader of the assembly, Hon. Henry Yenkwap and member representing Shendam constituency, expressed delight that young people are concerned about the security situation in the state, urging them to do a comprehensive petition to state their position clearly and submit same to the assembly.

The Deputy Speaker and member representing the Dengi Constituency, Sale Shehu Yipmong, expressed happiness over the unity and ideas being generated by the youths to address the security challenges in the state. He said the assembly was already thinking in the direction of the bill before the protest visit.

On his part, the Speaker of the assembly, Mr. Peter Azi, reassured that the House was not resting in its oars on the matter

He said the entire assembly was saddened by the unfortunate development and prayed for dialogue, adding that the assembly has visited some of the affected areas to get first hand assessment.
He called on Plateau people to keep political differences aside and face the issue, stressing that government was up and doing about it.

He maintained that the assembly has set up a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the massacre at the primary school in Miango.

On the proposal for an anti-open grazing bill for Plateau State, the Speaker challenged the coalition to propose issues that are expected to form parts of the bill, stressing that the bill should not be left to the assembly alone.
De-legitimising open grazing, by way of Laws against it is the first step.
At that point, it becomes a criminal act.
Other Nigerians need to get smart about this Herdsmen problem.
The President and the "Northern dominated" Security forces are condonming their murderous acts and it is up to the Victims to desighn "smart strategies" to counter it.
Worst case, it will lead to open war betwen the North and the South of the country;

The Fulani herdsmen are already well armed as we all can see, with Ak-47 all over the place and it is obvious they dont have any qualms in mudering other Nigerians so, it is up to "other Nigerians" to also be prepared to defend themselves.

This is not about party-affiliation or Religion.
It all about the ECONOMICS of DOMINANCE and SUBJUGATION
