slimyem: ....but. Definitely not because of an ipad. Right?she took the pesticide because of her husband's (my relative)failure to buy an Ipad for her, infact he told her that after settling the school fees of their kidz this september he will get it for her,but she still drank and died, who knows if she is in a cult??who knows if its her time??who knows if drinking the poison was just a smokescreen??for the sake of her kidz I will not say somethings here but there is more to her drinking the poison that meets the eye |
slimyem: what did she confess about?well she dint die immediately, she was first admitted to the hospital and the case promptly reported to the police, when it became obvious she will die she told the police and other people present that yes she willingly took the pesticide to end her life.....strange world |

Well i never believe stories like these when I read them on Nairaland,I just laugh and say "Nigerians and drama" but this one is sadly true, when my Dad told me about it few weeks ago I was laughing because I don't see the sense in an adult taking her own life because of Ipad, this is a woman that is well to do,a level 12 civil servant and also a big time business woman.though I have reasons to believe there is more to the drama(I mean the spiritual angle),her husband is related to me,a well to do banker who will not hurt a fly,and this case has been thoroughly investigated by the police before she was finally buried, there are witnesses who saw when she drank the pesticide and she also confessed before she died...I learnt a lot from this case,A man has to be very careful, many women are evil and diabolic(many men too)... |
;DBoys dey husttle ,he should be made to face the full wrath of the law, nice scheme though. The clueless commissioner would have signed a check for him, just badluck |
I don't really know the section to put this thread in but I just feel it will be best in general section since we don't have a section for banking or banks.....for close to a month now,Union Homes branches across the nation have been under lock and key(Union homes is a subsidiary of Union Bank,I am sure not everybody have heard of them),leaving their customers across the nation stranded. For some reasons I kant fathom it hasn't made headlines and nobody is talking about it so I am using this medium to create awareness and inform the general public about this ugly trend.I am sure if it was any of the more popular finiancial institutions like First bank,GT Bank or Zenith bank the world must have heard about it by now.I spoke with a worker of the bank and he told me NLC closed down the bank because the management of the bank refused to pay severance packages to many of their former staffs that were wrongly laid off....I am really disturbed as this ugly development has really affected me negatively because I kept my Nysc savings in that bank I really needed that money to start up a small time business, let me stop preaching now.........MODS please do well to take this thread to the front Page so it will get the much needed publicity, all we need is a solution so we can withdraw our money as soon as possible..... |

A senior figure in the Pakistan Taliban has written an extraordinary letter to Malala Yousafzai setting out the reasons why she was shot, coming close to expressing regret. In the four-page document, written in shaky English and seen by The Daily Telegraph, Adnan Rasheed described his shock at hearing the 15-year old had been shot last year. He claimed he had wanted to warn her against criticising the Taliban because of his “brotherly” feelings towards someone from his own Yousafzai tribe. “When you were attacked it was shocking for me. I wished it would never happened and I had advised you before,” he wrote. Malala has spent the past nine months in Britain recovering from her injuries. She was shot twice by masked gunmen who singled her out among her friends on a school bus in the town of Mingora, Swat. Since then she has become a symbol of the campaign to help more girls into school. Last week, she addressed the United Nations in a speech that received global attention , where she declared: “One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world. Education is the only solution.” Her story has provoked soul searching within the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Commanders sent out a slew of press releases in the aftermath of the shooting to justify why they had attacked a young girl as public opinion hardened against them. In the latest letter, first passed to a local journalist, Rasheed insisted Malala was not shot because of her campaign for education. “Taliban believe that you were intentionally writing against them and running a smearing campaign to malign their efforts to establish Islamic system in Swat and your writings were provocative,” he wrote. “You have said in your speech yesterday that pen is mightier than sword, so they attacked you for your sword not for your books or school.” The letter writer is one of Pakistan’s most notorious terrorists. He was in the Pakistan Air Force before being imprisoned for a plot to kill Pervez Musharraf but escaped in a mass jail break last year. Now he has a taste for flowery prose, quoting Bertrand Russell on science and referencing Sir TB Macaulay, who played a major role in introducing the English language to Indian schools in the 19th century. “Why they want to make all human beings English? Because Englishmen are the staunch supporters and slaves of Jews,” he wrote. Rasheed insisted the Taliban were not opposed to education, just an education system that would turn Pakistanis into slaves and had no room for Islam. He also asked whether Malala would have received as much attention if she had been hurt in a CIA drone strike. “I ask you and be honest in reply, if you were shot but Americans in a drone attack, would world have ever heard updates on your medical status? Would you be called ‘daughter of the nation? Would the media make a fuss about you?” The letter ends with an invitation to return and embrace the culture of her Pashtun population, which lives along the border with Afghanistan. “At the end I advise you to come back home, adopt the Islamic and Pashtun culture, join any female Islamic madrassa near your home town, study and learn the book of Allah, use your pen for Islam and plight of Muslim ummah and reveal the conspiracy of tiny elite who want to enslave the whole humanity for their evil agendas in the name of new world order.” Saleem Mehsud, the journalist who obtained the letter, said the TTP wanted to set the record straight on their reasons for shooting her. “They watched her speak at the UN and this is their reaction,” he said. “They wanted to get it out to as many people as possible.” www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/pakistan/10185660/Senior-Pakistan-Taliban-figure-explains-why-they-shot-Malala-Yousafzai.html |

BENIN CITY— THERE was confusion in Lampese Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, which shares a boundary with Kogi State, when two children of the same parents, identified as Omolayo Ojeifo(25) and her younger brother, Taiye (20) reportedly lured their mother identified as Mrs. Itowo Ojeifo to a farm road and killed her. It was gathered that Omolayo has had a running battle with her mother, whom she accused of being the reason she had not prospered in life and also being a witch. She was said to have apologised to her mother few days to the dastardly act and pleaded that she was misled into believing that her problems were caused by her, but unknown to the deceased, she was being tricked into her untimely death. Vanguard was informed that the suspect, Omolayo, had last Wednesday, appealed to her mother to accompany her somewhere and despite her mother’s refusal that she was busy at home, she was able to convince her mother to follow her, as the deceased abandoned the cassava she was peeling and accompanied her, not knowing that her children had perfected plans to kill her. She was said to have been led through a bush path to the farm and midway, the son brought out a machete, which he used in “cutting their mother.” An eye witness, who was said to have been threatened by the suspects that he would be dealt with if he reports what he saw was said to have rushed back to the community, where he reported the incident, but before people could be mobilised to the scene, the woman had been killed by her children. Confirming the incident yesterday, Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Eguavoen, said the incident happened on July 3 and that it was the former husband of the deceased, Mr Sunday Itowo that made a formal report to the police on the incident. He said the victims ran to Uzebba in Owan West Local Government Area but that the covert intelligence of the police led to their arrest. “The case will soon be transferred to the state command for further investigation,” the police said. www.vanguardngr.com/2013/07/children-kill-mother-over-alleged-witchcraft/ |
Another angle I view the Morsi removal from is the security of Israel, with Morsi in charge Terrorist elements in the Gaza strip might be empowered to attack Israel and the IDF will have no choice than crossing into Gaza or even Sinai which will lead to Military build up in Egypt, the Egyptian Military under Morsi will definitely respond with aggression and that's the end of Camp David's Accord....simply put,the security of Israel can not be guaranteed with an Islamist in power in Egypt...we all know the deep hatred the Muslim brotherhood have for the state of Israel and Jews in general |

Yomii: Boss is always right. Ameachi is just a boy, why will he dare argue with Mr President? Forget the fact that atimes GEJ does somethings that pissed the whole nation off but he his still the president. Every president deserve their respect. Ameachi should apologise and clean up his mess. How dare he question the presidents' authority?the Oga @ the top mentality again...so every Governor must be loyal and Bow to Mr President even when their political views and ambitions differ?? |
when the media went agog with news of the feud or will I say political wrestling between Governor Rotimi Amaechi and President Goodluck Jonathan the 1st thing that came to my mind was the President was flexing his muscles and moving against both real and percieved opponents ahead of 2015,and I still feel that way.I don't want to dwell on who is right and who is wrong,I just want to know where your sympathy lies.I wasn't in Port Harcourt for the greater part of last year and this year,I came into PH about two weeks ago and since then I have talked to so many of my politically enlightened friends and 96% of them are saying Amaechi is a traitor and should be cut to size, infact it seems I am a lone ranger when the issue is brought up for discussion... And from discussions on radio stations(people who call in)it seems a vast majority of Port Harcourt people seem to be angry with Amaechi for daring to move against or disagree with President Jonathan...what is your thought on the issue??where do your sympathy lies??is it with Amaechi or Jonathan....let me know your views |

Authorities will hold a war drill next week based on the scenario of missiles pouring in from multiple fronts, with some carrying chemical warheads. The “targets” in the drill include population centers and strategic facilities. Named “Steadfast Home Front 1,” the exercise will simulate the firing of missiles from Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza, and will include two air-raid sirens that will ring out across the country next Monday, May 27. During the sirens, members of the public are encouraged to seek a preselected safe zone and drill their responses to missile attack. The first siren will sound at 12:30 p.m., and is mainly aimed at schools and work places, while the second, at 7:05 p.m., is to drill families at home. The drill will test the responses of all first responders – police, firefighters, and paramedics – as well as the IDF Home Front Command and national and local government, said Home Front Defense Minister Gilad Erdan during a press conference in Tel Aviv on Tuesday. “This is one of the lessons the government and emergency responders learned from the Second Lebanon War, when they were caught unprepared, and suffered from a lack of coordination,” Erdan said. He added that the risk of an actual chemical attack on Israel was low, and that the main threat remained a conventional missile attack. Some enemy projectiles have conventional warheads made up of several hundred kilograms of explosives, Erdan said. “Today, the scenarios we see are different than before. We see Hamas equipping itself in the south, and we see the abilities of Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran,” Erdan added. “Our enemies have despaired of trying to conquer Israel and will try to exhaust and terrorize Israeli civilians instead,” the minister said. “We once asked if the enemy would dare fire missiles on Ashkelon, Tel Aviv… and Haifa. I think these questions no longer have a place. The answer is clear. The question now is, when will they fire on population centers? It can happen tonight, or next week.” During the drill, authorities will simulate hundreds of missiles striking the Gush Dan metropolitan area in central Israel. Erdan said the home front’s ability to contend with that scenario is “no less important than the IDF’s offensive capabilities.” Home Front Command head Maj- Gen. Eyal Eizenberg said that any future war would result in significantly higher casualties among Israeli civilians than past conflicts. He described the Second Lebanon War as a “taste, but not more” of a future clash. The Iron Dome rocket interception system will not be able to defend civilians in the event of attacks from northern arenas, Eizenberg stressed. “The home front will experience what it has not experienced in the past, should such a conflict erupt. We have to reach a place where the home front is strong, and decision makers are free to operate,” he added. Eizenberg also had a warning for Israel’s enemies. “Israel has offensive destructive powers many times more powerful than that of our neighbors. I suggest that before they power up their engines, our neighbors weigh up their decision carefully,” he said. Asked by the The Jerusalem Post whether current tensions with Syria meant that the timing for such a national drill was less than ideal, Eizenberg responded, “It will only advance our preparedness if something happens in our area.” He went on to say that responses to chemical attacks are primarily about effective command and control capabilities. “That’s what we are testing,” Eizenberg said. Gabi Ophir, director-general of the Homeland Security Ministry, said that even though the chances of chemical missiles are “very unlikely, we’re taking no chances.” Next Thursday, a day after the end of the exercise, Erdan will brief fellow ministers on the week’s events in a meeting that will be attended by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. The homeland security minister will then spend the following two months assessing the results of the drill. “We will test the full range of our alert systems… from air sirens to social media networks, to media outlets… to cell phones. All of the tools at our disposal,” Ophir said. According to the Home Front Command, civilians outdoors who hear a siren should seek shelter. If there is none, they should lie on the ground with their hands on their heads. If they are in a vehicle, they should pull over and seek shelter. If there is none around, they should follow the same steps as above www.jpost.com/Defense/War-drill-set-to-test-responses-to-chemical-attack-313930 |
