Raggedyann

I had already called off the issue. You didn't do anything. I had already ended the discussion. The only reason I took time out to explain it to you was because it was you. At that point you mentioned him I was already done with it all.

Seems like you also didn't get my point and what I was arguing with him about.

Responding here, Just wanted to let you know that I saw your mentioñ.
I'm tired of the whole issue. I don't appreciate being misunderstood and insulted. so I'm moving on.

SSG, (before you say:who called you? )you didn't edit my name, so I feel justified in responding.

I agree, for every family to work efficiently, roles must be assigned to each member. You cannot do without roles and responsibilities. And every family does this by putting "the best person for the job" at various duty posts. Or at least, that's what would make the most sense.

So if for instance, wifey has a higher paying job than hubby, she'll be the earner in the family. And if hubby is a killer in the kitchen, he should be allowed to face the kitchen and no one should denigrate him for doing "a woman's job". It's the task he's best suited to perform. And so, everyone has their roles tailored to suit the specific family's needs.

What feminists do not accept is that a woman should naturally be the cook (for instance) just because she's a woman rather than because it's a skill she's perfected. And women should not naturally be expected to perfect cooking simply because they're women.

There are no "men jobs" or "women jobs" predetermined. But roles are assigned in individual families based on everyone's ability.
The vagina does not come with a cook book and a ladle.
Nice wink
what do you think about a situation where they want to share the responsibilities, they are not assigning roles, they are sharing all the responsibilites equally,
That's the discussion I was having with the first guy.

Lol, the problem is that I'm having a discussion with someone, another person flies from nowhere into my mentioñs talking about something different. Just because he wants to show that he too knows about feminism, desperatly trying to insert himself into a conversation he doesn't understand and he even admits that he doesn't understand what we are talking about, but he can't humble himself, apologize and ask me to explain. Or at the very least fûck out of my mentioñs.
he nows starts shifting goal posts to defend his earlier mistake, Then goes on to insult me to his friend. But at the same time expects me to entertain his foolishness,
Rudeness and foolishness rolled into one.

I need to really observe the kind of mentioñs I get and really filter out the ones that deserves a response and the ones that should be ignored.

This is what the guys question was
laiga01:
When we talk about feminism, I will love us to emphasise on sharing the bills more since we equal.
Note, he said sharing bills, not about roles in the family, not about who is earning more should pay the bills, not about the abilty to pay bills since with this question it is implied that both have the ability to handle the bills in the house.
he said, "sharing" and my response to him was based on that, sharing the bills,

This was my response

Daylar:
The problem is that you guys love to talk about sharing the bills. grin
Can you guys truly deal with sharing the bills? Can you guys truly handle a woman who is independent and can handle half the bills in a home without messing with your ego and the need to be seen as head of the house and provider of the home? Can it truly work without causing problems?

Secondly, feminism means equality, equality of the sexes, so if you guys want equality in handling bills that means that there must be equality in cleaning cooking and taking care of the kids, note I didn't say the man will help the woman do the above, I said equality, meaning the wife will be at home while the husband will go to the kitchen to cook and bring the food and serve himself and his wife, she won't do anything. And they rotate the cooking cleaning and taking care of the kids like that, Or another way they both cook, clean and take care of the kids together?

If you can handle these 2 points then there is no big deal in sharing the bills
Compare that question and our replies to each other
following that with this.

n:
Sorry for jumping on your mention but sharing of bills and house duties have nothing to do with feminism. It makes the idea of feminism petty i.e. almost like girls are better than boys talk

I believe men have their roles in the home just like their women counterparts. Even the kids have their own roles to play in the home, it is not called family for no reason. It is team work, so everyone participate according to their abilities.

For instance, in team sports like football we have the goal keepers, strikers and defenders. All of which participate to the best of their abilities.

Feminism is about women liberation movement aimed at social injustice not just equality for equality sake. The right for women to vote in the united states comes to my mind as one of the ealier achievement of feminism. Feminism not only succeeded in getting the rights to vote for women but female voters now constitute about 40% of voters in that country.

In Nigeria and Africa in general, equal education opportunity for the "girl child" when compared to male child is one of the main achievements of feminism. Today we have more female university graduates in Africa than we had some decades ago.

In summary, the idea of feminism just like any struggle for social justice was born to reverse the unfair treatment of females by the society. It wasn't born to ensure equality for equality sake.

I don't understand why you tried to demise my point as invalid, without addressing them. My apologies in previous post were meant to show some courtsey not that I understood the context of your discussions.
This is the problem I have with nairaland, people don't understand sh*t but still jump on your meñtion. Can't you just ask if you don't understand? I didn't understand what a moniker said about roles and then I asked? Couldn't you do that? How can you even argue about something you don't understand? What do you even know you're arguing about?
Either you understand before quoting or quote and ask first before flying into the discussion or you just stay in your lane.

I tried explaining my self with a simple analogy.

Now let help you with a simple definition of a "role" grin

A Role is the function assumed or part played by a person or thing in a particular situation
When did we start talking about the definition of a role? huh
Now you play this part you as person to the best of your abilities. How is contradictory? grin
You're still doing it. Putting women in "roles" and saying we should do it to the best of our ability,
This was my question
What if my abilities are not suited for my roles at all? What do I do then?
what if I can't "play the part"? What do I do?
Did you answer this? Instead you started defining roles. Please, I don't discuss with goal post shifters grin

I used the analogy of a fooball team for family not feminism ( again you show basic ability to understand) a family is a team, just like a football team.
BS, coming from someone who admitted that he didn't understand the context of the discussion before flying into my mentioñs.
I think I'll pass, keep your bs to yourself.

What I wrote is based on my experience about true feminist. I am not writing nonsense. This are facts that can be easily confirmed. I don't argue often but when I do, I do it with facts grin

Ps: read more about the history of what you stand for grin
Once again. I have no words.

I'm done with you,

I don't discuss with people who don't understand a discussion but jump into it and when called out instead of them to admit their mistakes they start shifting goal post.

It's good that you know you just jumped in grin lol please go back and read how this whole stuff started, go back through the quotes. wink

but sharing of bills and house duties have nothing to do with feminism. It makes the idea of feminism petty i.e. almost like girls are better than boys talk
This is why I said you should go back and read the quotes, so you can direct this message to the right person. wink

,
Raggedyann dear, see another roles advocate, cheesy

it is not called family for no reason. It is team work, so everyone participate according to their abilities .
How can you make a statement and contradict yourself in next damn sentence grin LMAO, how can you say I have "roles" to play in a family but then say I should participate according to my abilities? What if my abilities are not suited for my roles at all? What do I do then? grin

For instance, in team sports like football we have the goal keepers, strikers and defenders. All of which participate to the best of their abilities.
This is feminism, not football smiley

ToVictoriaZ:
1) If I were the husband, I would NEVER forgive my wife. She just showed me what kind of a person she is. Such situation is an acid test of our humanity. Through her actions, my wife has showed me that she's an angel who can transform into a demon within the fraction of a second in the face of FEAR. There's no excuse she can give that I'll accept. No word of apology from her that I'll listen to. Does that mean she could stand the trauma killing me would cause her afterwards? The mental torture? That she won't have any regrets? It won't be a burden for the rest of her life? Wasn't that why I declined that I wouldn't do it to her? Mere pulling the trigger is telling me that all the pictures of love that decorate our walls were taken in front of the MIRROR OF LIES. There's no way I can forgive and forget that. There's no "explaining it away".

Do you know the excuse the Nazis give in Nuremberg for doing the most horrific things? Yeah, [b][color=darkgreen]"We were only obeying orders. That's the litmus test for differentiating monsters from humans. Humans lay down their lives to protect their loved ones. They sacrifice themselves to secure their cherished treasures. Monsters would do anything, including killing their lover, if it means saving their own life. And I don't like monsters.

3) My advice to any couple that have such an experience would be no different from the advice I'd give to myself, 'cause I know of no excuse that can be drawn either from above the clouds or from beneath the depths of the blue sea, to defend the action of the wife. None at all.

The Nigeria we find ourselves.
Imagine a girl coming out to do this...why is it always guys spilling?
The men babies never get blamed, that's why they continue their stupidity.

See ehn, I am very careful in my dealings with 98% of Nigerian guys. There is no mutual sex in Nigeria, sex to them is an accomplishment, something to brag about and demean the girls.
It's really annoying, there is always a reason to attack women,
when girls decide to play the game and say since I'm going to get insulted either way, I better just make good money while at it they get angry and call the girl a hoe, ashawo, olosho(the only words they know) that's when you see them become the feminists they hate so much and start advocating that sex is mutual,

when she has sex with them and considers it mutual and therefore doesn't ask for anything. They call her cheap and easy, The way some fools (male and female) are insulting these girls over fish.

Girls shouldn't have sex, but they want to have sex with girls, everything should be in their favour, when I call them misogynists now they will start vibrating.

They just want to eat their cake and have it.

I won't be surprised if there was no sex, I don't wanna believe a guy can be this stupid. The easiest way to tarnish a female in Nigeria is to claim you slept with her.
It's really pathetic
