No they didnt ask for yellow fever card.

TITILOLA88:
@ daks02,
May the land of Canada favour you and yours, in Jesus'name. Please did you get the yellow fever card to fly with Lufthansa? If yes, where did you get it?
Anybody who has flown with Lufthansa could also answer because, we travel in a few days and we don't have enough time, please.
Thank you!

Not air canada, i think the guy used klm. Paid $91 as the charges for 141kg. Don't know the breakdown

Orange1234:
Thank God for journey mercies. Please what cargo company did you use? You mentioned Air Canada, I didn't know Air Canada has cargo services from Lagos to Canada. Also please how much per bag/kg are the terminal fees when collecting cargo? Thanks in advance.

Travel / Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by daks02: 4:37am On Oct 02, 2019
Used the deen guy that some people shared on this group. He said some people interpret it as 20kg per food item not total. I guess it is cos we didn't have any issues when we picked it up here

Iwinosified:

Congratulations to you and FAM. Pls can you kindly give details of cargo company used? I thought 20kg food was the new maximum to YEG as per cargo? Thanks

Hello People long time no talk. Landing gist below:
So PPR came July 25th after 9months! *side eye*IRCC but we thank God sha. Booked lufthansa for 15th september (landed 16th sept, my birthday so to say i started this journey on a new note ehn). Journey started from eko ile around 5:30pm with plenty entourage my parents and in laws, traveled with my husband and one infant. Had 5 bags, one hand luggage, backpack, car seat and baby stroller. I thought lufthansa will give hassle with the car seat and stroller cos their site said either or, just wanted to try my luck sha, they actually accepted both. Before i continue, 3days earlier we weighed and reweighed luggage and decided it wont make sense to pay for extra luggage (lufthansa charged CAD$300, smh) so we went to cargo paid about 175k for 141kg and issued receipt for N23K (which way naija?). So back to gist, while trying to enter the terminal awon weyrey tried to stop my family but to be honest I was too chilled to be bothered i had N500 change that i was just doling out, didn't want anyone to frustrate my life. Everyone eventually got in only to weigh our luggage and all the bags were over. I always have my luggage scale and we weighed at home but tbh i am never one to pack in moderation, my husband was pissed ehn cheesy sorry hubs! We sha got an extra bag and paid CAD$300, again *side eye* Lufthansa! After check in said goodbye to fam, we are ajala in my family and my other two siblings left naija July and august respectively so my parents had experience in goodbyes these past few months, but this is the first time my hubs is moving so far from his mom so tears started to fall small cos his mom wanted to open the floodgates, we begged her o cos i cannot be nursing crying headache and dealing with this my little toddler *angel*
We dropped our stroller at the gate of the aircraft and got it when we landed frankfurt. We got infant row so we had bassinet that we used a little and my daughter was surprisingly well behaved for most part of the journey. Landed frankfurt, picked stroller, went to gate, layover wasn't too long. Took off with air canada, checked in stroller at the gate and surprise suprise, never received it at the gate in Toronto 8HRS later. Thanks o Air Canada, had to carry, half drag madam to border control.
We got there and the queue was mad! We were so sure we will miss our connecting flight which was in 2hrs that's how long the queue was. It also didn't seem like they were giving preference to people with family, after 1hr 30mins and when I guess they heard my baby screaming, someone came to pick us out of the line and attended to us, we had like 30mins to meet the flight and we still had goods to follow to sign, omo i carried my baby and backed her with the wrapper my mom forced me to pack (thanks mom!) and we started running, I knew we could be put on the next flight but i was exhausted at that point and just wanted to get home and sleep. We ran to customs spent like 15mins and then started running to our gate again, we got there just in time as we were the last to board, phew!.
Landed edmonton 4hrs later and went to pick bags alas Air canada again lost one of the bags, went to their desk to complain and got the promise that the bag will be delivered to our apartment. Got a van to carry our load and off we went home. This is the point where i shoutout to some angels, so i saw a post by mummyjaygirls for an apartment (lease takeover) from someone when we were still in naija, reached out to her and she hooked me up, I wasn't so close to anyone in edmonton as at then so i reached out to one of my (very good friends now) that we were in the same sep/oct AOR group and landed before me to help view the place, he agreed, helped view it and we made the payment and signed lease electronically, we also agreed on some of my landlord's furniture we wanted to buy and he sold it to us at very reasonable prices. So from the airport we came home straight, my landlord had connected me with his neighbor to pick up the key from her, another angel, she helped with our luggage and gave us steaming plate of rice and stew. It felt like i won the lottery because after almost 24hrs of travel, it seems like thats what your body needs.
So the following day we started looking around our apartment and we realized my landlord had left almost everything for us, little things that you think is not big deal o but makes a home feel like a home, from tissue paper to pots and laundry detergents! We bought very little to stock up the house. So to my angels, God bless you!
So far we've gotten two PR cards, health cards, enrolled in daycare (started working on this from naija to secure a place for her cos we had an apartment already), gotten phone lines, opened bank accounts with rbc and RESP for baby, gotten sim cards (phones were ok), enrolled in settlement agencies, doing bridging programs and attending interviews.
Meeting new people everyday, we thank God for baby steps, so for aspiring immigrants we are here waiting for you, try and reach out for help too, but be careful not rely too much on people, do your own homework because one person doesn't know it all.

ps our luggage was delivered to our house 2days later *double side eye* air canada, cargoed goods arrived before us sef but we went to pick it 2days after we landed, paid terminal fees and that was all.

PPR ALERT!!!

This whole experience feels so surreal, God has been faithful to me and my family on this journey.
Decision to travel was February 2018, had just come back from birthing my baby in the US and I just decided to give myself brain because this Naija no be it abeg.
I sat down and binge read part 1-4, then i registered for IELTS in March 2018, 1st result was LRWS-9,9,6.5,7, I was so sad, applied for remark and after 15WEEKS!!! Result was unchanged, na swear I just dey swear for BC. Applied to WES the following month (was still trying to convince hubby to join the canny train). Evaluated my BSc and msc, ECA was ready in June. Hubby eventually got on-board and did IELTS in July with MOD and he passed! Imagine! I gave myself space before i registered for the next IELTS cos i wanted to practice my writing well.
Registered with MOD in August for the Sept 8th exam, result was LRWS 8.5, 9, 7, 8.5. I was so excited!

Timeline:
Decision to travel: February 2018
First IELTS: March LRWS: 9, 9, 6.5, 8.5
ECA: June 29 2018
Hubby's IELTS: July 2018 LRWS: 8, 7, 7,8.5
2nd IELTS: (Sept 24) 8.5, 9, 7,8.5(LRWS)

ordered another set on July 8th
IP2: July 17th
PPR: July 17th
Total no of days: 263 days
Family of 3, moderate travel history.

-POF: Submitted Fixed deposit certificate (40% of POF) in my name (just invested the money two days before submission), money came from hubby so he wrote a letter of authority blah blah, then the remaining 60% was in hubby investment account that he had running since February 2018. The deposits matured while waiting, we rolled over but we didn't update it.

-Ref letter: Was unable to get ref letter in cic format amidst plenty office drama, I eventually got a manager to draft one for me on plain sheet and I notarized it included her ID and business card. Added my employment letter, promotion letter, payslips, salary statement of account and a printout of the email where my request was denied.

-PCC: Naija (Inspector Moshood) and acro UK.

-Medicals was done at Q-Life, spent almost the whole day there. Our medicals got passed a day after AOR, see me thinking that i'd have the fastest timeline in history, little did I know that God wanted to teach me patience (something I don't have a lot of, lool).

-LOE was just one page, gave reason why I couldn't get ref letter in CIC format, tabulated our POF, added the number of days i had stayed in the US it wasn't up to six months but because it shows very frequently in my travel history didn't want the VO to guess (it had happened to someone i know) and request for FBI PCC. Only got points for hubby's IELTS, didn't need to do ECA for him so there was no placeholder for his education, had to attach his TRF to LOE.

POST AOR; I really thought this our application timeline was going to be very short, meds passed was a day after AOR, BIL was the following day. I was already happy, 3weeks after AOR, rprf request came, was so excited, then one month passed, and another. By the time we clocked 6months, I called, raised CSEs, ordered GCMS notes, mailed MPs they didn’t do anything! when we clocked 7months, I just resigned to God to take over.

I'm writing all this story cos someone will use it to encourage themselves, it was stories like this I used to keep hustling, so to all ITA, PPR hopefuls, God is on the throne, we shall all laugh last!

PS shout out to @newmum0615 for her help with my ref letter wahala and my Sept/Oct aor whatsapp group you guys are amazing, You made the journey seem shorter, we helped each other get through, THANK YOU!

Please my people always endeavor to use a travel agent that you're familiar with, or even if someone recommended him to you, still try and ensure he is someone the person has been using for a long time. Better still book directly from the airline or through them wakanow, travelstart etc. It is worth the peace of mind o.

Abeg anyone landing in edmonton in September? Lets link up o! Two heads are better than one

VO: *cuts in* oh yes i see it. The school has given you $38k scholarship how do you intend to fund the rest?
her: my dad is my sponsor

Exactly!

tessytessy:
OP,

This people have seen it all.

People have packaged their application for like 6 months claiming salaries of up to that amount and yet disappear after being issued the visa. A big issue would be the reputation of the place where the applicant claims he works.

Having that huge amount in cash and not in a pension plan presupposes that he has enough money to settle should he decide not to come back to Nigeria.

I think an issue visa officers have is also having a lot of money, because the VO might think if you now decide to stay behind it means that you have enough money to settle in canada with your family.
There is a story of someone on this thread that had a way over the required POF and was denied, then she reduced it and was granted. I'm just saying tho, it might not be true but it might too.

Eseries:
Hello Guru's in the house!
I helped an uncle with his Canadian visa family vacation application.
Man has traveled to UK,US,Dubai,India. He has traveled with his family to the US before on vacation.
He has a good Job, earn between 1.8 to 2.5 million monthly salary.
He has several investments in landed properties.
He just renewed his US visa 2years along with all members of his family.
I scanned and submitted all evidences of this, the statement has over 30 million naira, the other about 8 million naira.

The application was refused. They simply put that they are not sure he will come back.

I am mad! Do this people close thier eyes and make decisions on these applications?
I submitted everything, introduction letter from place of work, promotions he has had over the years and salary increment. investments in landed properties....everything, scanned and submitted.

I plan to reapply?
Any suggestions what went wrong with previous application or hint on what to do different now.

I even submitted an itenary linking thier trip from Nigeria to America(they all have 2 years US visa) to Canada and back.

what else could I have done?

I want to reapply for them.
someone with hint on something I
may do different this time around?

Has anyone experienced such, A very good application turned down for reasons that do not add up?

Background check is crimnality and security. Eligibility is also where they scrutinise the entire application i.e. POF, employment docs. From GCMS notes, My eligibilty is met but my background check hasn't started ie criminality and security

Topsmamen:

Take eligibility as a mini-background check. An agent at the CIO checks if your CRS points match and are above the round's ITA points, if you met the points required under your selected stream, if points are claimed genuinely and that there are no irregularities.

Background check entails a deeper scrutiny of your entire application E.g. proof of funds, employment documents etc.

What is the meaning of this 'heading' head as per what? what will/are you teaching your daughters man

Homguy:
It's important not to shift goal posts. You and pejuhazel argued for equality without any head figure. I disagreed.

...I wonder what would make a woman more capable of heading her home, except she's married to a loser, or some irresponsible man. In that case this argument wouldn't have happened.

More importantly please either agree or disagree that any institutions must have a head.

I'm so shocked with this argument this morning, this 21st century and someone is saying man should be head blah blah, I would really like to know if these men are married, if they are, how do their wives feel

Tojued:

Partnerships have no head. An institution headed by two partners both can be equal with equal responsibilities, shares and votes.

And to set all records straight, maternal is a MAN lol. Maternal sorry if I messed with any fun you were having by keeping that info out of this particular gist.

I knew this whole place would light up once the Nigerians woke up lol.

I'm not here to argue cheesy, this is just for the records and to provide some clarity regarding whatever position our debaters grin have taken.

Ephesians 5:23

23. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

1 Corinthians 11:3, 8-9

3. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
8. For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.
9. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

Peace!

@guiterlife, I know where you can get the perfect wife, you know of David Koresh right? Look for all those types of extreme religious communes and acquire a bride from there.
