Very correct. The system is badly organised and it's showing in the manner we attend church programmes. The joblessness and poverty is real. Men are in dire need of a message of hope and wherever such messages are found, the people go with their resources and enrich the givers of that message.

It's being long since Nigerian version of Christianity has irked me. It numbs your common sense, kills your creativity and innovative sense, makes you shriek from your responsibility, and leaves you poorer than ever before.

It's never God's duty to make men wealthy; that's their duty. God gives ideas and other resources.

The Nigerian word of faith and Pentecostal movement encourages fraud, greed, selfishness, madness and confusion, I can not stress that enough. Just look at what is happening in the churches. It is very shameful. A simple visit to the Nigerian church today will let you know that men worship nothing else but themselves. No system can exist on it's own without checks and balances. If Nigeria were an organized and functioning society people will not be this religious. Our religiosity remains superficial and can never help us because it is driven by poverty and the need to gather material gain/wealth. That is why despite the fact that Nigerians are very religious you can not trust them with your 10,000 naira. You will comfortably trust a non religious/atheist European with your 1000 euros than trust a tongue speaking and spirit filled Nigerian. The Nigerian pastors are no different from the politicians. Both are cut from the same cloth, while the politicians lie and steal, the pastors lie and sell false hope. I am done with Nigerian churches.

I'm faring well in Jesus Christ. The relationship between h/o and branches is a thorny one. First, the H/o has overheads, is a cost center so to speak seeing it receives no offerings. So it's overheads must be spread out across all branches.

If it were down to me, I'd spread h/o's budget for the year together with a 10% contingency across all parishes/zones on the basis of their previous year's total revenues. They can keep the rest as soon as they meet their quota. The zones will then escalate their share to the individual branches.

But come to think of it, mega churches with hundreds of branches just attract needless nightmares. Why not commission ministers and release them? The size and numbers just pamper GO's ego.

Does it not strike you as funny that mainstream churches, Anglican, Presbyterian and Catholic have no such worries with branch management? There is something wrong with Pentecostalism, and this is imagining that you can suspend common sense and receive spiritual wisdom instead. We need to study how these 'unspiritual' institutions do their thing

In Nigeria the only God that truly exist is money. Money is the only God people are seeking and hoping for when they visit these religious houses. Pastors only preach about how God will make your rich, give you money, make you prosper in all that you do, give you that dream job, give you that dream wife/husband, secure your life, make you happy etc. Everything that goes on in the Nigerian church is all about personal aggrandizement.

This show of shame continues to linger, because most people are poor and badly in need of money, the pastors know these things and are willing to exploit people to the fullest. Our churches are always full only because our society is so disorganized and our people want money(Sermons in churches begin and end with money and personal aggrandizement). The Nigerian churches preach and promote nothing but selfishness, greed, criminality, confusion and madness. This is evident in the society. You will always, I repeat always trust an irreligious non church attending and non God believing European with your 1000 euros, than trust a bible wielding and constantly church attending Nigerian with your 10,000 naira. That reason alone has shown us that our churches have failed us, they are all business empires, where people go and buy hope(they tell you that your lives will get better always if only you pay God for it by sowing seed or giving tithes). It is only in Nigeria that hope is sold to people for money. And the place where hope is sold is called the church.

i am deeply sorry to hear from about your mom. i lost mine when i needed her the most. i am not saying this so as to justify what u are going through, but i want you to know that it has to be for a reason what is happening to her, it could be for two measure reasons; to bring God's glory through your lives or as a punishment for some sins. just seek God's, look into the bible with someone truly in the spirit, and pray with faith believing the case is solved and acting in ways that depicts it. i believe God will not forsake hs children if they turn to him.

So your God's glory can only be brought forth in people's lives when someone they love is suffering? You and the God idea you believe in are both sick.

. Long before the bible was written ? Who are these people ? What are their names ? How could they tell the shadow of the earth was cast in the moon and ascertained the earth was indeed round . Why did people think the earth was flat after the supposed discovery was made? The Greek philosophers offered the idea as a proposition with no proof . Couldn't they have used the lies you told as their proof ?

It has actually been known that the Earth was round since the time of the ancient Greeks. I believe that it was Pythagoras who first proposed that the Earth was round sometime around 500 B.C. As I recall, he based his idea on the fact that he showed the Moon must be round by observing the shape of the terminator (the line between the part of the Moon in light and the part of the Moon in the dark) as it moved through its orbital cycle. Pythagoras reasoned that if the Moon was round, then the Earth must be round as well. Before the Book of Isiah was written down, the ancient Greeks used the lunar eclipses to know that the earth was round based on the shadow of the earth that is being cast on the moon.

The verse is figurative but clearly reiterates that the earth is round

The verse is figurative because it talks about obvious thrash, right? You only picked the part where it talks about the circle of the earth and discarded the other rubbish as figurative, did the author tell you that what he wrote down was supposed to be taken as figurative? If it is figurative then why are you taking only one part of it as literal? By the way the earth is not a circle, a circle is flat and no where does the word sphere or round appear in the verse.

Circle on the face of which deep? Does the deep refer to the earth? The bible has clear context when it refers to the deep and the deep does not mean the earth, by the way the earth is not a circle, a circle is flat. So another thrash from the bible.

The bible also talked about heavenly bodies and the shape of our planet . Doesn't science agree with those ?

The bible talks about heavenly bodies in which scientific context? People knew and wrote about the shape of the planet long before the bible was written. They knew that by observing the shadow of the earth on the moon once there was an eclipse. The shape was round, you can see it on the moon and the wrote about it. The bible doesn't even say the earth was round, it talks vaguely about the circle of the earth and God sitting at the top. I wonder why you are referring to that verse about God sitting above the circle of the earth when you insist that your God exist outside the universe. My friend provide one scientific theory that agree with anything inside the bible, just one.

This literally makes zero sense. sorrow comes when we don't get what we want. evil spirits have nothing to do with this. for instance, if you were to die and go to hell, you would be full of sorrow. not because of evil spirits, but because you wanted to go to heaven, and you didn't get that.

sickness is caused by invasion of foreign species into the human body, as well as the human body, breaking down. we know this because animals also get sick. right from the little insects, to the big whales. and we know for sure they are caused by germs. not evil spirits.

but i guess one could rationalize this by saying the germs themselves are creations of evil spirits. used to torment God's creation.

Or that we live in a fallen world according to some of them. Only that they always run when asked to explain what they mean by a fallen world and what it has to do with why the genes of plants mutate badly sometimes. Maybe the plants also offended this God of theirs that is why they also suffer from diseases as well.

Remember we are talking about science and God. You claim that science doesn't refute God.

they unwittingly give the impression that their God doesn't care about Good and evil. that he cares about himself. and the torment of every being that is either neutral or opposing to him.
they then claim is a Good God. leaving people like to briefly smile and go back to doing other things.

They will always say that their God doesn't care about how good or bad you are when faced with the fact that christians have never been able to show or demonstrate that they are better moral people than non christians anywhere. They will tell you that all their God cares about is that you get his salvation.

Personally I believe that the bible supports the young earth creationists view. Old earth creationist view came into play because modern day christians want the bible to agree with scientific findings.

KingEbukasblog like most christians either hasn't fully read the bible or is trying to showcase just one picture out of many pictures contained in the book. Many Christians just have a vague idea of a selfless God tha allagedly treats believers and people in general well. They think that's all the bible talks about, and wonder "How could anyone be opposed to that?". They don't know that the bible talks about all things from a God that willingly admits he does evil to people to a God that commands people to carry out genocide , steal from others, a God that advocates slavery etc. So people like KingEbukasblog will keep speaking thrash just to defend this one sided idea of God their pastors. apologist and religious leaders have portrayed to them.

I actually believe that religion has it's place in the world. But I just dislike the fact that we have to depend on the religions that were founded by the ancients. We need to discard those religions and invent our own modern religions if we must be religious or at least modify the old religions the way white people are trying to modify Christianity.

The camel urine cured the diseases according to the legend. If you read the bible it also has such legend,it talks about using the blood of clean animals to cure leprosy, as always such things only happen in mythical and legendary stories and not in reality. Camel urine has no known medical cure, in fact camel urine is actually harmful.

Like everything else in the Koran, the story of the Gog and Magog is another plagiarized legend with an Arabic twist. Gog and Magog also appears in the bible in the book of revelations. The summary of the story goes like this:

There was a man with two horns called Zulqarnain who found the sun setting into a muddy spring somewhere on earth and later after seeing the sun setting in a muddy spring, he saw the sun rising in the east near some people who had no shelter from it. After witnessing that, he took another route where he meet some people that could hardly understand what he was saying. The people he meet there reported the people of Gog and Magog to him saying they are evil and are always making mischief in the land. They said he should make a barrier between them. So he told them to help him with workers so that he will build a fortified barrier between the two of them which they did, after which he built a wall with blocks of iron between two mountains separating the two people. He built the wall separating the people of Gog and Magog and the other people, the people of Gog and Magog were trapped behind the wall he built and could not scale the wall or dig a hole through it.

The Koran now says that the people of Gog and Magog will not be trapped for ever, some day the people of Gog and Magog will break through the wall, come out into the world and cause utter chaos that will eventually lead to the end of the world. Their breaking through the iron barrier is one of the 10 signs of the things that will happen before the day of judgement according to Islamic narration.

So the main stream Islamic narration is that the people of Gog and Magog have been trapped somewhere here on earth behind this iron wall that was built by Zulqarnain for thousands of years and will remain there until when we reach the final days of the end time. What makes the story absurd is that these people of Gog and Magog are here on earth trapped behind a mountain with a metal barrier. What makes it more absurd is that the population of the people of Gog and Magog is more than the population of the people on earth. So we are to believe that somewhere around the world there are people who are trapped behind two mountains with an iron barrier whose number is by far more than the population of the people on earth, people who will some day break through their iron barrier, come into the world and cause utter havoc. How can any body believe this trash when we have used google earth to map the whole world and have failed to see any group of people that actually number more than the population of the earth trapped any where. The crazy things that religion makes people to believe and accept.
