There is a popular school of thought that believes Senator Akume surrounds himself with a team of mediocrities. Until recently, I had no reason to subscribe to that view. But this morning, it became an unavoidable food for thought. I am gradually arriving at the uncomfortable conclusion that many of those who follow Akume are nothing more than “yes boss” men, political ornaments who add no strategic value to his cause. Since the face-off between the SGF and the governor began, the Akume camp, save for the president’s recurring mercy, has failed to execute a single intelligent move capable of unsettling the Alia camp. Governor Alia has remained consistently three steps ahead. During the controversial “installation” of the State Assembly Speaker, the Alia camp pulled the rug from under their feet in broad daylight as they walked away empty handed, no, they didn't go away empty handed, their hands with full with embarrassment. How did they allow a supposedly novice politician to outmaneuver them so effortlessly and embarrass both them and the SGF in one sweep? Then came the rumored impeachment plot. On that front as well, they stumbled and woefully fell on their face. Something as procedurally straightforward as initiating impeachment proceedings against a sitting governor and seeing to it's successful end, yet they could not carry it through. The noise was loud, but the execution was nonexistent. Next were the local government chairmen elections. They boasted confidently. They projected strength. They assured their supporters they had the structure to plant their loyalists in those seats. But how did it end? We watched them retreat quietly, tails tucked between their legs, heads bowed like a tired and retired pen!s or like combatants who misread the battlefield entirely. And yes, they misread the battlefield, they underrated they man they fought against. Now, with the formation of the State Executive Council, the pattern repeats itself. Once again, zero strategy. Zero anticipation. Zero surprise. I do not enjoy political f!ghts, but when two forces choose to clash, I expect to see strength, dexterity, calculation, and timing. A fight without strategy is recklessness on display. And that is exactly what this "powerful " members of the 'establishment' keep doing. It is partly why I have criticized Governor Fubara. He engaged Wike without a visible strategic framework. And defiance without preparation is pure political self-sabotage. Self-inflicted pain. The same appears true of the Akume camp. They seem determined to prove a point that carries no strategic weight, fighting battles without securing supply lines. If I were to advise them, I would suggest they borrow a leaf from the biblical prodigal son, return home humbly on their knees and seek forgiveness and reconciliation rather than persist in this tactless confrontation they are ill-prepared to win. For every round of the wrestle, we see them floored. They would later rise, dust themselves, shake off the sand at the back of their heads and go back to boasting about having what it takes to fi.ght a sitting governor. They should return to the governor’s fold and negotiate to work with and for him even if it requires working without immediate reward. Because the presidential mercy they keep leveraging on is not an inexhaustible political resource. Each time they falter, they look upward for rescue. That cannot be a long-term survival strategy. Fig.ting and looking up to the hills for mercy? If they continue fighting blindfolded, throwing punches that don't hit the target, the should know that the president may eventually prioritize political stability over old alliances and quietly reposition himself alongside the moving Alia train. That would mean the president throwing his friend, who is proving to be a baggage under the bus. We are no longer in 19-99, we are in year two thousand and 26 and the president's priority holds a chance to change. They must stop waiting on the president to throw his friend under the bus before they will learn their lessons. Because when that moment comes, loyalty will not shield anyone of them from the political reality that we will break into. Enough is a word for the wise.

Benue Politics(The masses or the stakeholders) In the current political climate of Benue State, two broad groups are often spoken about in public discussions: the masses and the stakeholders. These labels are not official, but they reflect how citizens perceive alignments within the state’s political space. The masses are largely made up of ordinary people at the grassroots farmers, traders, youths, civil servants, and community members many of whom express confidence in the leadership of the sitting governor, Rev. Fr.Dr Hyacinth Alia. Their support is driven mainly by expectations of people oriented governance, improved security, and visible development that touches everyday life. On the other hand, the stakeholders consist of long standing political figures, party elders, and influential actors who operate within established political structures. Many in this group are associated with the political influence and experience of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume. Their strength lies in political networks, institutional knowledge, and access to federal leverage that can benefit the state. From a neutral standpoint, both groups represent important aspects of governance: the voice of the people and the weight of experience and structure. One speaks from the street and the community, the other from boardrooms and corridors of power. Neither can be completely ignored without consequences for the state’s stability and progress. As concerned citizens who desire peace, unity, and development for Benue State, the critical question remains: when decisions are to be taken for the future of the state, which side should one carefully think about, the strength of popular support or the influence of established stakeholders?
