Fresh trouble may be looming for popular Nigeria singer, Harrison Tare Okiri, aka HarrySong, as he has been accused of song theft by an Italy based Nigerian musician, Timothy Ozemebhoya Asotie, better known as ‘TOA’.

In a recent interview with takeabreakng.com, TOA said HarrySong’s, ‘Selense’, is a copyright infringement on his own song titled ‘Selese’, which he released in 2016.

“HarrySong copied my song because I know of a radio presenter in Edo State who is very close to HarrySong and has been playing my song on air since last year on Edo Radio Station. Even when I came to Nigeria last year, it was still on air. It was also on promotion at Alaba International but HarrySong just copied the song,” TOA alleged.

He added, “It was recently that I noticed he copied my song in his song ‘Selense’. So I decided to come out and complain because the song is covered by Italian copyright here in Italy. My song was released in February 2016 while Harrysong released his in May 2018. Mine is titled ‘Selese’ while HarrySong’s is titled ‘Selense’. I won an award in 2016 in Amsterdam because of the song and also got several international award nominations from organisations both in Europe and USA, in the category of Best Song between 2016/2017. It has been on air play on different radio stations in Europe and America.”

However, TOA is demanding a settlement of N50million from HarrySong for the alleged ‘song theft’, adding that all efforts to get in touch with the musician have proved abortive.

“I will not fold my hands and allow someone to steal what I laboured for. I am demanding N50million from HarrySong for this copyright infringement. I have made efforts to get in touch with him but all efforts have proved abortive,” he said.

An electrician who went missing after leaving a suicide note behind has thrown his entire family into a state of mourning.

Hakeem Sanusi, a resident of Surulere Lagos reportedly had a misunderstanding with his girlfriend who told him to stop calling her.

Since then, he hasn’t been himself.

His mother said he left home last week Wednesday around 8:30pm after dropping a suicide that reads:

“Don’t bother to look for me, I am tired of this life and I have gone to meet Dagrin. I am sorry.”

According to friends of the 28-year-old electrician, his bizarre attitude started the day his girlfriend told him to stop calling her.

The Lagos state police commissioner has ordered his men to be on the look out for the missing man.

A magistrate of the Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State, Banji Ayeomoni, alongside his son reportedly lost their lives in an tanker fire accident that happened along the Benin-Auchi Expressway in the Esan West Local Government Area of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria learnt that the incident also claimed the lives of his son, Dara, driver and another relation.

An official of the court, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the late Ayeomoni went to visit his children at Ekpoma, adding that while returning, his vehicle ran into the spillage which caused fire and affected some other vehicles.

The official added that Ayeomoni, his son, who was a 500-level student of Medicine at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, driver and his wife’s sister’s young son died at an undisclosed hospital shortly after the accident.

“We learnt that the late magistrate was returning from a visit to his children at AAU when the incident occurred. It was indeed a sad news to all members of staff and lawyers in our court,’’ the official said.

Also, Inspector Zedekiah Orogbemi, the court’s prosecutor, who also confirmed the incident said that he was shocked when he heard the news.

Orogbemi, who described the late magistrate as a “thorough bred lawyer and a good man’’ prayed for the repose of his soul

He stated:

“I was shocked when the news broke and up till now, I still cannot believe that Ayeomoni is dead. I also condole with his family and pray that God should give them the fortitude to bear the loss.’’

The 59-year-old magistrate, who was due for retirement next year, left behind his wife and two other children.

YBNL signee, Viktoh, is yet to strike gold like his close friend, Lil Kesh, in the music industry and people are fond of reminding him of his ‘misfortune’.

During the week, he had an open confrontation with a social media user, who tried to ridicule him. In an attempt to fight back, he became very offensive and wished the young man a miserable death.

While speaking with Sunday Scoop, however, Viktoh, stated he didn’t intend to be abusive until the young man called his late mother an unprintable name. He said, “The person said a couple of things on my page, including abusing my family and my mother. My mother died in 2009 and I cannot take an insult to her from anyone.

I am a very quiet person and everyone knows. People always say celebrities don’t reply to comments on social media but I always take my time to reply my fans. I think people want to take that for granted, forgetting that I am human too,” he said.

According to him, he is yet to get over his mother’s death as she was his closest friend. He said, “It has not been easy coping without my mother because I was always running to her whenever I had issues. She died after an illness; I miss everything about my mother. But my dad is still alive.”

Viktoh also rubbished insinuations that he is jealous of Lil Kesh’s success. “Lil Kesh, who is a big artiste today, is my product. I discovered Lil Kesh on the streets of Bariga, Lagos. I am happy I did something good for him and I am proud of what he has become today. People may say different things about us but we treat each other like brothers,” he said.

Admitting that things have not been rosy for him in the music industry, he noted that he was not ready to give up. He said, “I believe God’s time is the best; I cannot rush things. Yes, I want to be a superstar but if I don’t walk in line with God’s plans for me, I might lose everything and live a life of regret.

I still have enough time and my style of music is still relevant. Quitting music means I am a coward and my late mother would not be proud of me. The fact that things are yet to fall into place for me doesn’t mean I should quit music.

I am done with my studies at the University of Benin but music is what I love. I cannot quit; I will just keep working hard,” Viktoh said.

The director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig-Gen Zakari Kazaure, has warned that travelling out of camp or places of primary assignment without obtaining permission remained an offence.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kazaure spoke at the Ekiti state permanent orientation camp, situated in Ise/Emure, in Ise/Orun local government area.

The report said Kazaure was on a visit to educate corp members on dangers inherent in playing with their health and security.

He said the standing rule of the agency is being repeatedly ignored in a manner that suggested that authorities had abdicated their roles of looking after the well-being as well as the welfare of the corp members.

“You all have to avoid night journeys and other unnecessary journeys for that matter

”Remember that before you embark on any journey, the need arises that you first inform your immediate supervisors and obtain necessary permits

“A graduate is expected by the society to be above board. I, therefore, want you to please join hands with me to ensure that the tragic incident in Taraba is the very last of such,” he said.

It was learnt that Kazaure arrived in the Ekiti state camp in the evening of Tuesday, August 7, and expresssed deep regrets over the tragic death of nine corp members in Taraba state during the weekend.

He described the incident as a huge loss to him personally, and the nation in general. Kazaure claimed he passed through the NYSC mandatory programme over 30 years ago and added that the sad incident was highly regretted and called for a minute silence to honour those who lost their lives.

According to him, there is also the need for corps members to respect the culture and tradition of their host communities. Kazaure said that any corps member in the country was free to call his personal number on 07042542779, in case of any emergency that the felt their immediate supervisors could not handle.

The wtate director, Aniefiok Okpongete, told the director-general that a total of 1,809 corps members were currently registered, comprising 1,109 males and 700 females.

She said that a total of 187, among them, 149 females and 38 males had been advised to leave camp on account of being either pregnant, nursing mothers or facing critical health challenges.

A university student took her graduation photographs to a whole new level – by posing alongside a 13-foot alligator. Makenzie Noland’s daring snaps have left the world stunned after the Texas A&M graduate took an unorthodox route for her commemorative photos.

The 21-year-old graduate earned her degree in wildlife and fisheries science, and has been working as an intern at the Gator County rescue centre in Beaumont, Texas since finishing classes in May.

She posted the photographs on her Facebook page with the caption “Not your typical graduation picture”.

One of the photos shows Noland balancing her graduation ring on the nose of the alligator, named Big Tex, while wearing her Texas A&M sash and cap.

Noland developed a special bond with the animal after working closely with him since her first day at the animal centre.

A High Court in Bwari, Abuja has nullified the suspension of Revd Nicholas Anyanwu as the District Superintendent of the Abuja District of the Assemblies of God Church Nigeria.

Justice O. A. Musa, in a judgment, also declared as unlawful and a nullity all processes leading the suspension of Rev. Anyanwu by some of the church’s leaders, without affording him the opportunity of fair hearing as guaranteed under Section 36 of the Constitution.

The judgment was on a fundamental rights enforcement suit, marked: FCT/HC/CV/1889/2014, filed by Anyanwu against his suspension by a group of senior members of the church, led by Rev. Chidi Okoroafor (Assistant General Superintendent), who accused him, among others, of mismanaging the church’s funds.

The applicant stated that Okoroafor and some other senior members of the church accused Anyanwu of mismanaging the church’s funds in 2014 and proceeded to set up an investigative panel, which claimed to have investigated the allegations and gave a guilty verdict against the applicant, a decision he challenged by the suit.

Anyanwu, who faulted the church leaders’s decision to constitute an administrative panel to investigate the criminal allegations raised against him, also accused the panel and the church of denying him the right to fair hearing and to present his case.

In his judgment, given last July 5, a copy of which The Nation sighted on Saturday, Justice Musa held that he was convinced that the applicant has proved his case. He added: “To this end, I disagree with the submissions of the respondents and dismissed same and therefore enter judgment for the applicant.”

Justice Musa proceeded to grant all the applicant’s reliefs and prayers. He declared that the allegations of mismanagement of funds, stealing and/or conversion of church funds made against the applicant by the respondents constitute criminal offences for which the applicant ought to be tried before a court of competent jurisdiction.

The judge also declared that by the provision of Section 36(1) of the Constitution, the allegations of criminal offences against the applicant could only be tried by a competent court and not by an administration panel of inquiry or investigative panel set up by the respondents.

He said the applicant, by virtue of Section 36(5) of the Constitution, is presumed innocent of all the allegations made against him by the respondents, and on which he is yet to be tried and found guilty by a competent court.

Justice Musa, who voided the findings and recommendation of the investigative panel, declared as illegal the May 16, 20014 decision of the respondents, made “at the Abuja East District Headquarters, Area 11, Garki, Abuja purportedly suspending the applicant as the District Superintendent of the Abuja District of the Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria.”

The judge also declared illegal the subsequent oral public announcement, of the applicant’s suspension, through the various pastors of the Assemblies of God Church in Abuja on May 18, 2014. He awarded N2 million against the respondents and in favour of the applicant for the malicious publication of the purported suspension in a national daily.

Anyanwu said he was grateful to God for vindicating him. He said he had forgiven those behind his ordeal, who were bent on destroying his reputation. He assured that he would persist in his service in God’s vineyard and continue to pray for the good of all.

Speaking at the premiere of the movie at Ozone Cinema, Yaba, Lagos on Thursday, Obekpa who hails from Benue State and has starred in movies like ‘Captain America: Civil war’, and ‘Black Panther’ said acting runs in his family.

“I’ve been acting for a long time. My mum used to be an actress. My sister studies theatre. I think it’s a family thing. I literarily ran away from it. But it’s like I’m coming to full circle right now. Life is funny as it is. I never thought I was going to be an actor but here I am now. I went to film school, taking advice from my dad, to add more production value to myself and learn the whole craft of movie making. So, that’s how I know how to edit, write, direct and all that good stuff.”

‘Klippers’ is about an assassin sent by his employer to kill his ex-wife. In his quest to accomplish the task, the assassin develops a fondness for his target. His employer then sends another hit man who has a scary success record of getting the job done. A series of events triggers a face off and the race to stay alive begins. In the movie, Ofu stars alongside WWE legend Kevin Nash, formerly known as Diesel,

Nigerian international seasoned actor, Conphidance, and Robert Pralgo.

Speaking about the feedbacks he has been getting, Obekpa said it’s been love.

“All these people telling me congrats, I’m really happy,” said Obekpa who has worked on several American movies, television productions and has shot some documentaries.

“It’s great. I enjoyed it. Hard work pays.”

The actor also said he hopes the Nigerian audience would accept his movie. After its Nigerian run, ‘Klippers’ which is powered by Skyrunner Productions will also be watched in Czech Republic, Japan, France, Russia, Poland, Brazil and Spain.
